They sealed their fate the moment they fell to Shura. Now, all that is left is to cleanse the corruption.

These guys never had a chance, they just refuse to bow down and die without resisting, absolutely barbaric I say.

At this point, Daemon Hunter, might as well flip a coin to determine the name for the flagship. Letting the debate go on for another year is counterproductive.

(After almost three years of neck-to-neck debate, Captain Oriacarius decided enough was enough.
Choosing to let luck decide, the captain attempted to settle the matter by flipping a single Throne.
The Throne landed on its edge.
Truly, the galaxy is a cruel place.)

Or we could call it Vigilance, The Spirit of Fire!
Changing the name depending on the pronunciator and this will be the cause of the civil war in our legion, not Chaos, not politics, but the name of a Ship.

"This period of internal strife, where the Legion's greatest diplomats and lecturers spent days engaged in intense debate over the flagship's name became known as The Endless Turnabout."

The poll for the Ship name has been consistently tieing which is amusing, and we've been theatrically and dramatically blowing the tie out of proportion.
ah, I see.

this should be canonized somehow, maybe we just end up getting a second ship and name it whichever name was suggested second.

also, I kinda think we should not have a complicated emblem, flags and symbols are best when they are simple as its easier for them to be remembered even from just a glance.

and in wh40k,a emblem being easily reconizable is very important since it has reflections in the warp..

.....I think thats not just embers canon right? thats normal canon...?

so im leaning towards the horis's eye. (he was the egyptian god of justice, life/death right? he was in charge in ensuring people ended up in the correct afterlife? (heaven/hell)
....hm...doesnt quite fit "eternal warden" quite perfectly, but its still pretty good I guess.

I like the idea of canonizing the debate, but I'm not quite sure how to fit that in with the updates. I'd love to see an Omake on that, although I will try to incorporate it if I can fit it. Also in regards to warp reflections, I do have objects have reflections in the warp, along with beliefs, people, planets, and key events. Other things as well, there are actually researches you can do on this.

Meanwhile, the update should be out in about 7 hours.

Battle of Sakini
[x] Plan Death to Nurgle!
-[x] Mechanicus: Contact get target data of cultist from them and bombard from orbit, after Bombardment mass assault 10,000 Astartes Ask for assistance after cultist killed to attack other cultist.
-[x] Site One: Orbital assault followed by Mass assault 10,000
-[x] Site Two: orbital Bombardment followed Mass assault 10,000
-[x] Site Three: Attack with single Company, attack generators followed by Orbital Bombardment
-[x] Site Four: Attack with 50 Astartes PRIMARCH Here Stealth attack generators followed by orbital Bombarment
-[x] Site Five: Attack with 10 Companies Stealth attack
-[x] Site Six: Have Pathfinders Attack and 10 companies stealth attack
-[x] Site Seven: Orbital Bombardment Followed by Mass assault 10,000
-[x] Have rest of legion help on standby to provide assistance

With the plan determined, all that was left for Kesar was to execute it. "Alright, here is the plan. Have the first through third fleet elements bombard cultist forces engaging the Mechanicus. You will receive targeting data from them. Fourth through sixth fleet elements target Site 1 before targeting Site 3 once its void shields fall. Eight through ninth fleet elements target Site 2 before switching to Site 4. Tenth fleet element target Site 7. I want the 1st through 10th chapters to assault Site 1 after the bombardment. 11th through 20th assault Site 2, 21st through 30th assault Site 7. 31st through 40th assist the Mechanicus. Stealth assaults on Site 3, 4, 5, and 6. I will be assisting at Site 4 personally. Commence the operation."

With that, Kesar donned his army and weapons before entering his personal Stormbird. Then, he ordered the Techmarine piloting the craft to depart. On the way to Site 4, Kesar observed the progress of the battle.

The first observation was the absolute devastation wreaked on the cultists. While the initial targeting was not as good as Kesar desired, and the cultists seemed to scatter once it began, the results were devastating. The cultists had no defenses, were engaged with the Mechanicus, and were facing ten chapters of Astartes. Then the barrage began. They died in the millions. Macrocannon after macrocannon shell fell upon them and they died. They died as they fought, they died as they ran, they died as they screamed. Even isolated pockets were destroyed, such was the power of complete orbital supremacy, Astartes, and poor defenses. Kesar smiled at this. With the cultists dead, the Mechanicus had begun to regroup and would be available to assist around the time the current operation was completed.

Meanwhile, Kesar frowned at reports from Site 1. When the fleet split into groups, it appears the 1st through 3rd fleet elements improperly executed their orbital inclination burn. This resulted in them firing at oblique angles through the atmosphere and were unlikely to penetrate the void shields. Kesar was disappointed in this, but the next part of the report caused his smile to return. It appears the plague daemons had also caused their own void shields to deteriorate. For a moment, the void shields flickered, which allowed the barrage to destroy the fortifications at the ritual site and throw the forces there into disarray.

It was at this point that Space Marine drop pods and Stormbirds entered. The disoriented enemy allowed the Astartes to seize the initiative. With this gift, every weapon targeting the Unclean one. Before it had even reacted, the Eternal Wardens fired as one. Even the daemons prodigious girth can only protect against so much. Ten thousand Astartes firing as one easily killed the foul creature. With the death of their master, the remaining plague creatures and cultists panicked. They fell into disorder. Some ran, some ran into melee range, some fired their weapons. To the Astartes, it was nothing. Without heavy weapons, they were unable to harm the Wardens, but still, there were casualties. Here and there a few Astartes died, but it was minor compared to the literal millions of cultists who died. Once the cultists were taken care of, Site 1 was in the Wardens hands, for the price of 500 Astartes.

In Site 2, Kesar was displeased to see that the void shields were far stronger and appeared to have been reinforced by the Unclean One at this location. All the barrage did was alert the forces present to an incoming attack. When the Astartes arrived, a massive chess game began.

Kesar was proud of his sons' skills here, although the cultists clearly had someone skilled here as well. Flanks and counter flanks, false retreats, fake unit movements, snipers and counter-snipers dueled for hours. Every tactic any side conjured up was countered within seconds. Every position one side took was given up within minutes. But there was one difference. This was what the Wardens specialized in. Taking positions and holding them before moving to another location. This was their lifeblood.

Sadly, there were still issues. Specifically, the Unclean One. While initially, it was lured into an ambush, it was able to survive thanks to a perfectly placed smoke screen. With it, the Wardens were forced into a long-range gun battle in order to avoid casualties. Combined with the cultist forces, a massive maneuvering conflict was fought over the ritual site.

In this chaos, the Pathfinders stepped up. When the cultists deployed another smoke screen, the Pathfinders slipped in behind their lines. After carefully moving forward, they managed to deploy a melta bomb on the ritual site. Then, once they reached a safe distance, they detonated it. With that, Site 2 was neutralized, but the chapters here were still engaged in battle with the cultists. Due to long ranged conflict, casualties were low with a 100 Astartes dead from simple bad luck, however, conflict still rages between the Eternal Wardens and Unclean One's forces.

The report on Site 3 further pleased Kesar. The 100 Astartes here managed a beautiful stealth insertion with the Pathfinder's support. Once here, the fifty Wardens with heavy weapons set up, and when the sound of orbital impacts began droning, they struck. During one such sound, they fired at the Unclean One. With perfect timing and coordination, the daemon was unable to act and succumbed. Quickly, the Eternal Wardens destroyed the void shields before retreating.

Then, the orbital barrage began. Without the void shields or greater daemon, the cultists had no chance. The orbital fire destroyed the ritual site before targeting the cultists. Once again, they died in droves to the Eternal Wardens.
Meanwhile, Site 5 was somehow an even better assault. It appears that the 1000 Astartes deployed here interpreted their orders as kill everything. They proceeded to do just that. They decided to drag along several tons of explosives and promethium and spent hours seeding the forest with explosives, using the maps the Pathfinders gave them to the fullest. Then, they smuggled explosives into the ritual site. And then after that, they placed explosives on the ammunition depots. Then they placed explosives on bunkers. Then, … at this point, Kesar skipped the large scale description of where they placed explosives at looked at the result. It appears that they managed to kill the Unclean One at this location with precise application of … explosives. Once this happened, they detonated the ones in the forest, where the cultists had set up. This did not end well for them. Apparently, the fleet could actually see the resulting wildfire from orbit. Kesar was extremely proud.

Site 6 had gone poorly. Kesar mood was soured as he read the reports. Like the other locations, the Wardens opened with a heavy weapons salve. This site even had the advantage of a perfectly placed Pathfinder team. It appears that when they fired, the rounds had hit the Unclean One, but they were not aimed at vital spots. The Unclean One responded by slamming down on the strike force. They quickly scattered. The Pathfinders themselves were out of the line of fire, but their position was compromised. Currently, the ritual is still undergoing, and cultists forces are arriving en masse. The Astartes here are requesting immediate aid.

Meanwhile, Site 7 was annihilated by the opening barrage. Without the support of Unclean Ones, the void shields were punctured quickly and then the cultists were massacred and fortifications destroyed. All but a thousand cultists died from orbital bombardment, and then the Eternal Wardens arrived. 10,000 Astartes landed and faced cultists who had just been annihilated by orbital weapons fire. Outnumbering the enemy ten to one, the results were predictable.

"Well, fuck," unidentified cultist on Sakini I after Eternal Wardens arrival.

After purging the remaining cultists, the Wardens ensured the ritual site was destroyed before preparing themselves for redeployment. They are currently available to support other operations.

With this, Kesar focused on the upcoming task at Site 4. The fifty Astartes with him looked nervous at his presence, likely because of their need to prove themselves to him. "Techmarine," Kesar spoke, "relax and follow the flight plan. Please try not to be nervous at my presence."

"Yes Lord Primarch," was the response, the techmarine visible taking a large breath to calm himself. The rest of the flight was still difficult, with Kesar having to direct the flight on multiple occasions. Thankfully, besides a few minor issues, the flight successfully traversed the canyons. Then, they struck. The Stormbird's engines screamed as it flew straight up and landed right in the planned landing zone.

"Don't worry," screamed one of the Unclean Ones, "your resistance only makes me love you more."

Kesar rolled his eyes at the foul creatures claims. The plan was as such, while ten of the Astartes would destroy the void shields, the remaining forty and himself would hold off the two Unclean Ones before leaving. Why have a fair fight after all? With that, Kesar and his sons charged the foul daemons. Once in range, however, they fought defensively. Brother covered brother, and through it all, Kesar deflected the creatures' swords with his own. While Kesar's sword was a masterpiece, it was not quite up to his standards as a Primarch. Still, Kesar standards were high and he made due. Like lightning, he struck the Unclean Ones over and over to ensure their attention remained squarely on him, and not his more vulnerable sons.

Within a minute, his ears picked up on a small series of gunshots as the remaining ten of his sons returned. "Lord Primarch, the void shields are down."

"All forces withdraw!" yelled Kesar as he began backing up to the Stormbird. His sons followed, continuing their dance with the Unclean Ones. Then, they entered the Stormbird before Kesar himself was the last one battling the two daemons. After all, he was almost certain to be in no danger. Now, he fell back to the Stormbird was the Unclean Ones briefly caught him in a pincer. Here, they struck with their swords. Normally Kesar would avoid this, albeit barely. He just had to duck under the blades. Yet, something happened. In that brief millisecond where his motion began, the wound he received on Valhalla twinged. At this moment, a faint whisper echoed in the warp, although none present heard it, "Just as planned." This brief distraction cost Kesar. Without enough time to duck. He somersaulted over one blade and used his sword in midair to deflect the second. Then he withdrew to the Stormbird. As he left, the first Unclean One spoke, "Don't worry child, Grandfather shares his love with all. Even those who resist."

"Lord Primarch, you are injured," one of his sons informed him looking nervous. Kesar looked at his arm where a thin cut was present.

"Hand me a flamer," Kesar spoke as an Eternal Warden did so. Once received, he used the pilot light to cauterize the wound. After all, he did not want anything to do with that plague daemon. Then, he used a knife to scrape the flesh around the wound. Sadly, Kesar could tell that would leave a scar. That shouldn't be something to worry about, right?

Shaking his head, Kesar looked upon Site 4 as the orbital barrage commenced. It was not as effective as he had hoped. Even with the void shields down, the two Unclean Ones were barely able to keep the ritual site safe. Then again, it was unlikely to keep up.

Kesar then began to devise a plan for the next stage of the conflict, although he was slightly perturbed at how he had received a wound from the Unclean One that he should have been able to dodge. Nevertheless, now was not the time to worry about that. The tactical situation Kesar faced was rather good.

Site 1 had been taken care of by his forces, although there were large amounts of corruption in the local environment. Thankfully, pyrotechnics should take care of this.

Site 2 was a warzone. A massive maneuvering conflict had begun and the Unclean One was still there. Thankfully, the ritual site itself had been destroyed. However, cultist forces are mobilized, and it will be a difficult battle since the void shields are preventing orbital bombardment at this location.

Site 3 was also taken care of, although there may be a few isolated pockets of cultists. However, the total number of cultists here would likely be less than a thousand.

Site 4 was still standing, albeit without its void shields. The Unclean One and cultists were still standing however, and it appears that they will accelerate the ritual to salvage something. However, continued orbital barrage should take care of this problem.

Site 5 was masterfully dealt with, although since orbital bombardment had not occurred, there were would still possibly be some cultists alive in the firestorm that had occurred.

Site 6 was trouble. The ritual site was not damaged in any way, and the 1000 Astartes here had been reduced to 800. The Pathfinders were also exposed, but they are still able to act.

Site 7 was completely taken care of. The orbital barrage destroyed it, and the Astartes mopped up the few cultists left.

Meanwhile, the Eternal Warden's Pathfinders had not been idle. They had managed to get indications of what the cultist forces were attempting to do. The forces at Site 2 seemed to be shifting their strategy to a delaying action. They seem to be attempting to buy time for the ritual to be attempted at a significantly reduced potency. Meanwhile, the forces at Sites 4 and 6 were desperately trying to rush the ritual in an attempt to salvage something, although large elements of Site 4 were scattering to decrease damage from orbital bombardment. In response to this information, Kesar had a few options, but he decided to

[] Continue orbital bombardment
[] Send additional forces
[] Send stealth forces guided by Pathfinders to flank
[] Write-in

I'd say that women dig scars, but you're not interested. So, i'll say, scars are badass. Leman might appreciate your scars

Well, flagship vote is finally called, and we have a winner. Vigilance wins. After three years of debate, the most contentious period of the Eternal Wardens has ended.
