Did we ever get research trees on the other primarchs? I ask beacuse Guiliman has to work on that Bureaucracy family of research, we are going to need that. If we can somehow create anti chaos Bureaucracy all the better.

Alright, omakes. First up we have a rather fun omake on Epitaph and Kesar having a dream about it. It's a fun omake and I do enjoy the more dream-like qualities within. As for your reward:

[] +10 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] Increased trait gain for Epitaph this turn
[] Increased trait gain for Kesar this turn
Wait items can gain traits?
Well in that case
Since we're about to try and solo a demon world this turn (it is this turn we're trying that right?)

[X] Increased trait gain for Epitaph this turn

Soon enough epitaph shell be able to compete with Excalibur itself for the title of strongest holy sword!!!
(Laughs maniacally like a mad scientist cartoon villain)

(Random question but if I may ask how much do these trait gain rewards increase the chances by ? Is it like 5 or 10%?)

Edit P S also I'm glad you enjoyed the dream logic stuff those parts were surprisingly hard to write so I'm glad you enjoyed it
(I Kept struggling to find the right way to phrase things or just finding the right words in my vocabulary to use)

Oh man now I really want to see an FGO Omake with Kesar sparring with Artoria and her seeing the power that Epitaph has as well as it being somewhat alive.

Dang it . . . now I want to see that too
You know now that I'm thinking about it

One fun contrast between Excalibur and epitaph
Is that Excalibur saved a world and its spirit
(Earth Gaia)
Well epitaph is about to be used to kill a world and it's spirit
(Wait Demon worlds have world spirits right?)

In a fun way they're both holy swords but inverted in purpose
Yet both are still swords of (promised victory) in a way

Kesar felt slightly awkward without his sons in the same system as him. Instead, he was on a small craft designed for stealth. Taken from the Raven Guard detachment with their permission, Oriacarius had personally handpicked a skeleton crew to deliver him to the World of Tormented Martyrs. The crew on board had apparently been consistently working for the First Captain, acting as his eyes and ears among the Wardens for various contingencies. Despite their obvious awe at his presence, not one of them spoke a single word to him. Most even tried to ignore his presence, attempting to ensure secrecy through ignorance.

It was strange, but Kesar respected their devotion to duty. Not to mention it gave him time to focus and mentally prepare.

He had meditated for weeks upon his runes, listening to the Runes of Chaos and Anathema as they whispered to him and each other. The two runes hated each other as expected, but their interplay gave him hints and secrets he would have missed otherwise.

The daemonworld itself had no threats on it, although the Rune of Chaos did whisper that they had been looking at outside mercenaries to assist. With the Rune of Anathema failing to gain any insights, Kesar expected to find an uncorrupted foe. The mere thought of a mortal willingly working with the Archdaemons was enough to make his blood boil, and if it was possible, he would ensure they died on this world.

But there was something considerably darker that caused the eyes and mouths to form in the shadows. Kesar replied by stabbing the shadows with Epitaph, slaying the forming daemon before it could even be born. Yet the Rune of Chaos continued to laugh and weep tears of joy, ranting and raving about the First Prince of the Damned arriving to rend the Second Anathema's soul. And the Rune of Anathema roared back that such an action would be for naught for the Second Anathema was wise and knew his limits. Moreover, it would only help the First Anathema's empire should the First Prince make his location known.

Kesar now had a time limit, a year to take daemonworld before the greatest and oldest Daemon Prince arrived. It was a foe Kesar could not best even at his greatest and most powerful. But perhaps a more subtle approach could delay him? While he doubted the deception could hold for long, a simple delay would be monumentally helpful. Not to mention he could try and blend the subtle takeover into an overt one, although it would come with risks of its own.

[] Overt Takeover, the Portals - One of the challenges in battle will be the constant flow of daemons from the two warp portals present. Destroying them immediately will force the daemons to create new pathways.
[] Overt Takeover, Leadership - Removing the Favored Daemon Prince that leads this world immediately will prevent a coherent response from forming for a few months. And disorganized rabble will be no match for Kesar.
[] Subtle Takeover, Replacing Leadership - Impersonating a daemon prince or Chaos Lord is within Kesar's skillset. While it's unlikely to work for long, it would likely last long enough to be able to eliminate the Daemon Prince in charge of the planet.
[] Subtle Takeover, Sabotage - Choosing to remain lower profile, Kesar could instead focus on sabotaging various smaller installations on the daemonworld. This would be inherently less useful than other options, but it'd let him remain better hidden and allow for more flexibility.

As Kesar made his way towards the World of Tormented Martyrs, the rest of the Imperium continued to act. The Goliath Protocol was fully enacted between Fulgrim, Ferrus, Horus, and Perturabo. While the public explanation was that it was due to pride and tempers flaring, Kesar knew it was a way to avoid a civil war and instead resolve their issues in a more controlled manner. The five duels showcased were skillful, yet brutal causing a few rumors that the enmity between the Legions was deeper than was shown publicly.

Despite an early advantage with victories by Sevatar and Abaddon over Ferrus' construct and Sigismund, the Emperor's Children proved their skills as they managed a reverse sweep. With the formerly disgraced commander Thrallas securing a surprise upset over an Alpha psyker, the only point of controversy was the maiming of Sigismund by Abaddon.

With a victory by the loyalists, Horus and Perturabo agreed to the terms, signing the Khetraic Protocol. Having already been signed by several Primarchs, including Kesar, the protocol ordered a weapons ban on the use of WMDS, orbital bombardments, and other large-area weaponry against heavy population centers. There were of course carve-outs for non-human populations and Chaos, but overall it would help prevent a civil war from being too destructive. Not to mention allowing for more human rights in the galaxy.

The larger point of contention was the agreement that Horus and Perturabo would stay out of any civil war. While Kesar knew that they wouldn't overtly break it without a very good reason, he also knew that his brothers would almost certainly act covertly. Advice and diplomatic assistance would flow like water, weapons and armor would be produced by the trillions and delivered. But Fulgrim and Ferrus almost certainly knew this. The point of the Goliath Protocol was never to fully eliminate a Legion from a civil war.

It was to reduce how devastating one would be and prevent a civil war from breaking out immediately. And in both respects, it was a success.

Hell Forge Nous was a world that was almost designed to personally anger Techmarine Scotty. Forced to bear the combination of chaos with abominable intelligence, it forced him to realize that at least AI were usually merely insane instead of Lost. As he worked with the responsive machine spirit that was the Vigilance, he gathered the various sensor reports and forwarded them to Oriacarius and the other Astartes involved in the planning.

Well, the Astartes and Eldar Farseer that they had brought in.

The atmosphere was mildly awkward for Scotty. The Khalsa had an innate nervousness about them due to being so far from their father. For an honor guard, they tended to be used less as a force to work alongside the Primarch and instead as a force intended to provide a hammer where the Primarch could not be. It wasn't bad by any means, merely an amusing thought among the Wardens.

The true awkwardness came from the presence of Slyfenan Timedancer. When the Farseer first arrived, Scotty had mistaken her wraithbone armor for ceremonial wear rather than armor. He thought he was being polite when he offered to make her a set of armor, an act that she took as an insult to Eldar craftsmanship. Thankfully Oriacarius had been there to prevent a diplomatic incident, although he did later take Scotty to the side and ask that he do so anyway. Having the option to disguise the Eldar as a Sister of Silence would be helpful, he had explained.

Timedancer was interesting in just how much her aesthetic clashed with the larger, bulkier suits used by Astartes. Where Spacemarine armor was intended to stride through hails of bullets, Eldar armor focused almost entirely on agility and maneuverability. It was intended to deflect rather than absorb, with most of the emphasis being on supporting systems.

She had yet to provide her input to the planning. Surprising most of the Astartes present, her specialty wasn't in strategic divination as they expected but was instead in operational divination. Where other Farseers focused on seeing and manipulating distant events, Timedancer described her sight as closer to a loud, unsubtle hammer. She would intervene in battles and twist fate both physically and psychically, her mind and body acting in unison to change the result of a battle.

There were significant concerns as to how the Sisters of Silence would react to Timedancer's presence. As well as how Timedancer would handle working with blanks. Directly asking her indicated that she genuinely didn't plan for the possibility of working with the Sisters, although she claimed that unless the Sisters of Silence were involved in strategic maneuvers their influence on fate would not clash with her own.

The briefing itself rapidly turned less awkward and formal as the discussion began. After the initial hurdles where the Khalsa periodically glanced at her and Solarus asked what explosives the Eldar used, they began to think of her less like a Xenos and more like a psychic consultant. Ironically Scotty inwardly mused that she was easier to work with than human psykers and even a handful of Thousand Sons.

Focusing on the deployment of the Pathfinders to the Hell Forge, Oriacarius quickly created a map of the planet. Adeptly collating the information gathered, the First Captain dissected the Tzeentchian's defenses, forces, and numbers. The forge world was filled with nightmares, most of which the Wardens had already fought. While there were a number of facilities the Pathfinder hadn't been able to breach, their relative size meant that these were likely experimental facilities rather than secret production lines. Nonetheless, Oriacarius did have a plan in case they weren't.

The true intelligence success was two fold. The first was the discovery of the Arch Heretek's personal laboratory where the Pathfinders were able to confirm the presence of an ensouled AI. Scotty had instantly ordered that information be classified, going against protocol to ensure it was done immediately. While he had to explain his actions to the First Captain, both of them agreed that it was for the best if the Mechanicum did not hear of it.

The second coup was the retrieval of the order of battle for the enemy, which provided them with a lengthy list of notable units and commanders assigned to key defensive roles. Regardless of what strategy they chose, their covert operations would be far more effective.

Now with a greater understanding of the forces arrayed against them, they chose to

[] Remove the Head - Using a small, elite group to assault the Arch Heretek's lab would allow their immediate removal and the capture of the most advanced technology. However, the battle that follows would be difficult due to the numbers disparity.
[] Conduct a Coordinated Strike - Using the recovered OOB, coordinated strikes can be performed across the planet. These would require tight timings and leave each force relatively small, but it would allow for the easiest fight if the initial attack succeeds.
[] Order a General Assault - The least ambitious proposal, conducting a general assault leaves little room to make mistakes but would suffer the most casualties outside of a failed assault.
[] Secure a Landing Zone - Taking an even more cautious route and following more textbook doctrine, securing a landing zone would allow for more flexibility in the later stages. However it would also give the enemy the initiative.
[] Conduct a Saturated Bombardment - Using the Vigilance and available orbital supremacy to bombard the planet into submission would take time and risk several ships. But periodic raids to destroy the anti-orbital batteries would help deal with the downsides.
[] Solarus being Solarus - Taking an unorthodox, and sadly unsuccessful, page from the latest Epsilon-354 assault, Solarus has suggested to replicate the idea of abusing the Dark Age of Technology Void Shield system installed on the Vigilance to allow it to brave past all possible attacks to engage in a brief period of, in his own words, 'absolute mayhem' against everything standing in the face of her massive cannons and teleportation systems.

While most of the Wardens were present in the Maelstrom, there was a sizable contingent focused on other threats. With the rise in Gamma factions across the Imperium, forces had to be sent to various regions of Svarga.

Of the three notable Gamma Camps, the Ravagers were both the most dangerous and most straightforward. The Night Watch, Wardens, and the handful of Black Brigades that were present agreed that they had to be ripped out root and stem. The hostages in particular would complicate any attack, but the Night Watch were tentatively confident that they could secure at least a third of them before the Ravagers even noticed their presence.

The complications generally arose after that due to the Lord General tasked with garrisoning the area being unwilling to commit troops against former Imperial Army forces. Thankfully they were immediately relocated once this became apparent, although that has led to a more disorganized command structure in the area. Nonetheless, the overall battle plan is straightforward.

Kill them all.

Captain Hectus had a less extreme but similar strategy prepared for the Weeping Sorrow. However, due to them having a home planet that they operated from, he would simply attack them there. This would force them to withdraw all their raiding parties and enable Hectus to force a surrender. With the forces available to him, he did admit there was some risk to it, but he was confident that he would succeed.

The last Gamma Camp of note was both the easiest to handle as well as the most complex. Due to the age of the Lost Boys, any resolution either had to be peaceful or kept classified at all levels. However, while the leadership of the young General Piotr is far better than expected, they are still children and as such lack capable counterespionage experience. This has allowed a significant series of successes in regard to scouting.

The Lost Boys are little more than scared children. True they are scared children with access to heavy weapons and minefields, but that does still mean their morale is their weakest point. Fears of death hang over them, but the omnipresent dread of the battlefield serves to ensure that they will not return to it without a fight. Recent overhauls to the Imperial Army in Svarga do mean this is significantly easier to manage politically as well.

With a number of options available to him in how to approach the situation, Captain Baldur has elected to

[] Transfer the Lost Boys to the Administratum - Removing them from all combat duty would resolve the situation at hand, even if the lack of experience means they'd not be useful. It'd also annoy the more traditional guardsmen.
[] Task them with Garrison Duty - Something they'd grudgingly accept, having the Lost Boys act as garrisons is something Baldur can convince them to do. Although their specialty for high-risk operations wouldn't be useful there.
[] Use Psychological Warfare - Leveraging extended negotiations and subterfuge, Baldur could pressure them into laying down their arms in full. After which the regiments can be split apart and reconstituted into other regiments.
[] Conduct a Surgical Strike - The Lost Boys are held up by their respected leader. Removing them and the command staff would cripple their ability to resist.

So what is the best possible result for soloing the planet?

Kesar kills the favored, rampages and beats everything else, claims the planet, then flees for his life before Be'lakor shows up?

That would be ideal for the upfront approach, though the best possible result for the sneaky option would be Kesar pulling off the Chaos Lord act so well that everyone starts to think that he's actually Be'lakor in disguise. And naturally this leads to a LOT of Daemons swearing allegiance to him.

So what is making the guy come to the planet?

Did they divine that Kesar was going to be here and he is already on his way and will arrive in a year?

Will he get summoned when anyone attacks the planet? Because the mask hides our identity, right? He wouldn't come for just anyone?

Or does he get summoned if it's revealed that KESAR is attacking here, bring out the big guns!

If it's the third then hiding our identity as long as possible is probably the best move. Right?

To put it bluntly, Kesar's arrival will set off alarms to his presence, which will lead to Slaanesh telling Be'lakor to travel to this planet to kill Kesar, since in a 1v1 Be'lakor would stomp. However, these are not 100% accurate, foolproof things, so if Kesar disguises himself and pretends to be a Chaos Lord instead, that will automatically lead to Be'lakor stopping and doing some seer work to verify if this is even Kesar or if Slaanesh just got it wrong. The more convincing it is, the longer Be'lakor will take to figure it out, and if the rolls are extremely in our favor, Be'lakor might be convinced that it's not Kesar and so will simply not get involved, because Slaanesh ain't paying him for that.

So the mask doesn't really prevent them from knowing who we are? Bummer.

Don't we need Be'lakor to come to the planet so the Emperor can use the opportunity to get the big Imperial Army buffing item?

It does prevent the locals from realizing who it is. It's just that Slaanesh is more perceptive than that, hence the call to Be'lakor to deal with this.

And Be'lakor doesn't need to show up, he just needs to be away from the planet Emps is eyeing. If he's halfway there, stops for six months to study up on this maybe-Kesar Chaos Lord, and then says "Nah, it's not him" and turns back, then Emps will still have succeeded.

[] Plan: All Or Nothing, Crazy Style.
-[] Overkill Subtle Takeover, Kingmaker - Firmly sell the act of being a Chaos Vizier, perhaps of Undivided or of Tzeentchian or some variation of one acting as the other, by swallowing your Rune of Chaos and stomaching the immense agony of having Chaos energy radiate from your body. Then find the greediest, most vain, cowardly and disgusting leech of a daemon on the planet using the Rune of Anathema to guide you into working with them to overthrow the current ruler of the planet to cause as much confusion and in-fighting as possible before proceeding to sabotage everything until you're caught.
-[] Solarus being Solarus - Taking an unorthodox, and sadly unsuccessful, page from the latest Epsilon-354 assault, Solarus has suggested to replicate the idea of abusing the Dark Age of Technology Void Shield system installed on the Vigilance to allow it to brave past all possible attacks to engage in a brief period of, in his own words, 'absolute mayhem' against everything standing in the face of her massive cannons and teleportation systems.
-[] Task them with Garrison Duty, On The Current Planet - Since they had already proven themselves as superior to the existing defensive force of the important logistical hub, and in the interest of resolving things peacefully and retaining the skill of the regiment under the restructured Imperial Army here, just have them garrison on the planet they've already taken. They've already put in work in the defences, after all.

Plan should be self explanatory! Just delaying Be'lakor's arrival by making him double-check to see if there really is a Chaos Lord muscling in is worth a lot, as is the experience that could be gained from doing this! Not often do you have a golden opportunity to have an Anathema + Daemonsbane super warrior be able to very, very convincingly pretend to be a follower of Chaos.

[] Subtle Takeover, Replacing Leadership - Impersonating a daemon prince or Chaos Lord is within Kesar's skillset. While it's unlikely to work for long, it would likely last long enough to be able to eliminate the Daemon Prince in charge of the planet.
Out of curiosity how long and how far does Kesar think he can get/keep up the act for?
And how effective does he think it would be add quickly conquering the planet compared to doing his best impression of pelianl whitestrakes rampage
But with demons instead of elves?

And how much time if any could this buy us in delaying the First Damned before he arrives ?
Second Anathema was wise and knew his limits.
Um Rune of anathema . . . Kesar has been accused of many things . . . Abiding by his limits is not one of them

naturally this leads to a LOT of Daemons swearing allegiance to him.
. . . Wait you mean like swearing on their true names such that even when Kesar reveals who he actually is they still HAVE to obey him? Oh that would be funny

I like the plan tiny but I just have some concerns mostly this part
by swallowing your Rune of Chaos and stomaching the immense agony of having Chaos energy radiate from your body.
Okay I Have to ask isn't this way to Dangerous ? Kesar Eating a rune not Just any Rune but a CHAOS Rune? Won't that kill Kesar from the inside out?

We have asked about this on Discord. The answer is no and yes, it will give a global -40 to basically all actions but also a +80 (net 40) to pretending to be Chaos and once we are done it can be surgically removed without any long term damage to Kesar.

I'm not sure a 40 loss to everything is worth a plus 40 to one thing.
In this very niche case it is. The only thing that matters is delaying Be'lakor, even with that -40 to everything Kesar would curb stomp everything on the world into atomic paste without effort. Be'lakor would do the same thing to Kesar so yeah for this extremely niche event where we have to delay Be'lakor's arrival and in a situation where no other Exalted is a realistic threat it becomes a viable option.

I'm not sure a 40 loss to everything is worth a plus 40 to one thing.

For a direct numbers comparison, the strongest champion on the Daemonworld is a Favored of Slaanesh which would have a +80 to all rolls. Kesar himself has a +300 against Daemons in combat, effectively a +310 when accounting for his Daemonsbane tier 1 trait, and he has a +95 to command, a +105 to command against Daemons, and a +175 when directly commanding Daemons with an additional +10 effectively from his daemonsbane trait.

A -40 is barely anything on such a scale for combat and command as in a 1v1 Kesar would still insta true kill that Favored even if all his other traits were deleted. Meanwhile, that +40 to pretending to be a Chaos Daemon is incredibly meaningful as Kesar has no real traits for pretending to be a Chaos Daemon besides his +50 to all rolls.

Kesar also becomes more suspicious the more all-out he goes. If he unleashes his full power and starts crushing everything that stands against him, his Chaos Lord identity will quickly crumble, because someone so powerful would be well-known to just about everyone already. Taking a -40 actually helps out on its own, since it means Kesar can more easily restrain himself to "very good but not legendary Chaos Lord" level

He's not entirely sure how long he can keep it up for, but he thinks at least a month or two. For how effective it would be, it varies on what he does.

Unknown amount of time that it'd buy. It depends on Be'lakor's rolls.

Adding to this, it also can't be removed with a temporary consequence. Ripping it out of Kesar gives him a -20 wound penalty that'll heal over the course of a month.
