Sanguinius 20: A complex suit of power armour made by an unknown group of the Dark Age of Technology, notable possessing a strange 'white bone' material used across its design (faux Wraihbone). Said material is highly psychically reactive, boosting the psychic potential of its wearer. Self-forming and able to fit an Astartes (although not a Primarch).
human made faux Wraihbone could be a game changer even if we probaly can't replicate it
Vulkan 20+20+20: A Standard Template Construct design for an incredibly advanced medical facility. The system is able to heal almost any injury or sickness an individual possesses within minutes. Only inferior in quality compared to Apothecary facilities for Astartes Legions, the facilities are extremely affordable to build despite their complexity. Currently being built within most high end stations for the Imperial Arm's use. -5% casualties for the Imperial Army.
-If not for the current rebellions, along with such things as Corvus and Guilliman's work in helping the Imperial Army, this would have brought the Imperial Army's growth back into the positive.
Neat just hope we can roll it out before things start imploding.

Focusing on more academic paths for the first time in a while, Kesar found himself making several notable strides in a variety of disciplines. Taking advantage of the sheer number of powerful psykers, the Second Anathema was rather proud of his new rune, the Grandmaster Rune of Psyker.

Stabilizing the connection between the materium and immaterium, the rune was capable of effectively grounding the psyker, acting as a focus for the psyker reducing the inherent risk of simply being a psyker. However, the part that Kesar thought was rather elegantly done was the combination of multiple techniques to allow the rune's effects to scale up to the most powerful psykers to exist. For beta psykers and above, the rune helped stabilize their souls to a limited degree, which allowed them to control their power slightly better. While his own soul was already a mental fortress, he knew that mortal psykers and Astartes would find them very useful.

*Gain the Grandmaster Rune of Psyker - Halves CR maluses for psykers below gamma rank. Provides +10 CR for beta psykers and above. -0.5% Imperial Army casualties.*

Some of the insights Kesar gained during this process also found their way into his work cataloging components of a soul. Using terminology coined by Magnus and the Thousand Sons, the XIth Primarch found his work a mixture of simply collating data from the Cyclops' archives, and building upon it through the use of his witchsight and other techniques. Thus far, he'd found that there were multiple parts of a soul, from which weak correlations could be determined. Where it was more useful however was in identifying active psykers, divine connections, and active blessings. Something that would assuredly be useful in filtering out cultists and daemons.

He would have initially missed that connection, but one of the reports from the Thousand Sons had unveiled a faint thread of a connection that he had expanded upon. Said report, mainly focused on more practical application of this connection, but had concluded that finding this connection would require active soul surgery. While this wasn't the case, for the author failed to properly comprehend the level of change divine connections would emplace, the mathematics provided nonetheless allowed Kesar to find a path he would have otherwise missed.

*Soul Makeup Completes. +20 to finding cultists/daemons*

Once he had enough digging in archives for his taste, Kesar moved on from Prospero to more independent research on his way back to Terra. His work on the rune world seemed to hit some breakthrough within him, as he rapidly iterated upon various works, resulting in a training system that had allowed for rapid expansion to 150 psykers capable of making basic runes. While slowed by the need to create custom infrastructure, it was a simpler affair to do so, simply requiring months of Kesar's time, for he had already done most of the work when researching architectural reflections within the warp.

His work there mainly consisted of repeatedly constructing, observing, then remaking a variety of different physical structures. Unsurprisingly, pyramids had a notable resonance within them, but so did spires and other decorative arches and statues. It made sense, for the Emperor's notes indicated as much, and the Imperial Palace seemed to take some inspiration for its design from principles he had just derived. While he had yet to build a full-scale construct using ARM (architectural reflection manipulation), Kesar was certain he could do so, albeit whilst increasing costs.

*Rune Planet Stage 7 and 8 Complete. Currently, it is producing 10% of what the Eternal Wardens produce.*
*Architectural Reflection Manipulation Completes. Allows for improvements to various attributes for large buildings for additional costs.*

The XIth Primarch was most proud of his work on teleportariums. Over decades, Kesar had refined the technology more and more, and he had always felt as if he was on the cusp of true greatness. Yet it was only after his experiment with Krole that the pieces had come together. The data from that ill-fated experiment had allowed him to expand upon multiple principles at once. Magnus himself didn't understand some of Kesar's theories at first, which made the Daemonsbane rather proud. Nonetheless, the true success of the end combination of multiple fields was an improvement to teleporters which allowed them to not just be consistent, but truly safe in most situations. While he would never use them when powerful psykers were around, nor when void shields were up, they nonetheless provided unprecedented tactical mobility to his Legion. Which he would most certainly make use of.

*Teleportation Safety Completes. Safe teleportation is now possible in most circumstances.*

The last part of his research on the way to Terra was far simpler, mostly consisting of taking apart a Gellar field and adding multiple modifications to it. Bodin and Scotty were both rather keen on assisting, or rather observing, which somewhat dragged out the process, cutting into Kesar's time enough that he hadn't made as much progress observing machine spirits as desired. Nonetheless, by integrating lessons from Gehenna, the Emperor's notes, Magnus' psychic encyclopedia, Perturabo's mundane mathematics, Kesar's own work, and much more, the Second Anathema was able to strengthen the Gellar Fields resistance to warp phenomena. While he initially thought he would have to make the changes himself, Scotty and Bodin were able to follow his work, and they were in the process of training others at this time.

*Gellar Field Stabilization Completes. +10 to escaping warp storms. -10% losses during emergency warp outs.*

The last bit of work was done during examinations on Terra. When Oriacarius learned of his plans with Fabius, the First Captain protested, arguing that whatever Fabius learned could be used against him in the future. While the council had been taken, in the end, Kesar was curious about what he could learn during the examination, and he thought the risk was minimal. And so, while mentally combining the runes of fire and ice in his mind, he allowed the Apothecary to extract the material he needed.

*Rune of Fire*Ice Completes. +1 to Legion Combat.*

"I was expecting more pain," Kesar spoke out loud, glancing at the flayed skin on his chest. Surprised at how it felt, more along the lines of a light burn than true agony.

Fabius didn't reply, carefully maneuvering multiple instruments in the keyhole to peer inside Kesar's body. Micro adjustments the Primarch could barely see were performed masterfully, with only a vague uncomfortable feeling of fullness permeating his chest. Seconds later, the son of Fulgrim explained, "I severed the nerves, it's difficult to operate when the patient instinctually resists."

"...Are you speaking from experience?" Kesar hesitantly asked, wondering if he had made a horrible mistake.

To his mild horror, the Astartes smiled, "I was quite proud of that, Vulkan tore through far too many restraints before I learned how to sever Primarch nerves." The Apothecary hummed as if remembering a pleasant memory, "you see, the issue stems from the redundancy in your bodies, most tissue in a Primarch is interconnected, so I have to sever nerve, muscle, tendon, blood vessels, connective tissue, skin, and more."

"What about fat cells?" Kesar wondered out loud, "Although, that's probably the wrong term for them, energy stores perhaps?"

Fabius nodded, clearly pleased to have a response to the question, "They're actually more advanced stem cells."

The Primarch blinked, "Are you sure? That implies either they lay dormant, or they're doing something more subtle."

"I hypothesize that they anchor your existence," the Astartes explained, "acting as a grounding rod for warp energies, with a secondary effect of accelerating healing."

"Can you sample some?" The Primarch eagerly asked, "We may be able to create a nutrient bath and grow them independently."

"I already have," Fabius mused, "the cells lose most of their properties outside of their host, I've had to inject them into an Astartes to keep them active to any extent."

"If you can get a sample from that Astartes, I'd love to see a long-term study," Kesar requested, rather eager to see what he could do.

"Certainly," Fabius removed an additional syringe, before extracting a small sample of fluid from his stomach. "I'll store this for you."

*Fabius finishes Primarch Analysis Stage 5. Unknown effects.*

Working on Project GI, however, was significantly more awkward. When he told Oriacarius of his plan to still assist, the First Captain protested but had already drawn up two Chapters of Astartes to ensure his safety on Terra. Kesar was surprised, to say the least. He thought he was less predictable than that.

Seeing Eli again was expected, and his reaction was within Kesar's predictions. The former Lord-Militant looked at the Primarch as if he had participated in the coup himself. Kesar could see the obvious signs, an unhidden expression of anger and hate, curled fists, and above all else, a faint sense of malice told by his witchsight. Then, in the following moment, the anger and hate were pulled deep within Eli, and the mortal smiled and welcomed him.

Developing the next generation of Project GI was more along the lines of what Kesar had hoped for. Issues discovered in their genetic base were corrected, memory programming was upgraded to store memories in a more natural format, and much more was added. The Primarch was already impressed at what the Project under Fabius had done, and now that he was getting a first-hand look at the program, he found himself more admiring than ever expected.

Fabius Bile also assisted his work, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say Fabius focused on the hardware aspect of memory retention, while Kesar focused on the software side. It was a gross oversimplification to put it like that, but both the Primarch and Astartes understood as much, and the reports they were writing were meant for a layman.

Together, the two were able to create the next batch of GIs, finding new, more subtle flaws. While they were highly skilled and the physical augmentations displayed no signs of rejection, the GIs were rather standoffish, seemingly struggling to trust or interact with others. This tendency was noticeably absent during interactions among other GIs, with the modified humans seemingly having an instinctual method of determining GIs from unmodified humans.

Further analysis was performed, and while Kesar and Fabius had yet to find a solution, they were able to discern the cause. The memory implants were not fully natural, resulting in the GIs feeling somewhat disconnected from their minds and bodies. This seemed to result in a complex that manifested itself as a constant uncanny valley feeling, causing latent distrust of all who did not experience the same complex as them. Already, Kesar had ideas for ways to work around the problem, but to do so, he would have to return another time.

"Thank you Perturabo," Kesar spoke first, after all, he had asked for this meeting based on thanking his brother for his support. 25 thousand Iron Warriors would journey with him to the Maelstrom to act against Epsilon, wielding multiple systems Perturabo himself had designed for combating AIs.

"There is no need," the Lord of Iron's response was blunt, seeking minimal validation for rightful duty.

"Still, it makes my task a lot easier," Kesar mused, "there's a large difference between 50 thousand and 75 thousand after all."

"Are those the numbers you plan?" Perturabo asked, "I recommend adjusting them upwards, or bringing one of our First Captains with you."

"I'm still workshopping matters," the Primarch clarified, "I still retain an incomplete picture, the Lord General Militant should have a clearer report for me once I arrive."

"Good," Perturabo approved, "the Imperial Army, while problematic, does produce useful suggestions."

"That they do," the Second Anathema agreed, "sometimes they'll break and run, but other times they can create miracles from nothing."

"It's unfortunate," the Lord of Iron stated, surprising Kesar, "That those features are likely to be used against itself in the near future."

"You speak of civil war," the XIth said. "I'm still hopeful it can be avoided, even if others feel it is in vain."

"There is still hope," Perturabo admitted. "The chance is slim, residing only in a handful of places, but stranger events have occurred before."

"The Gammas, the Emperor, and Vulkan," Kesar muttered. "Each group has the potential of starting an unavoidable war."

"And yet, if one of them stands down, civil war can be avoided," Perturabo added. "Yet that remains unlikely."

"I'm not so sure," Kesar replied, "The Gamma blocs are unlikely to stand down, but the bulk of their demands are not unreasonable."

"Since when have we negotiated with rebels?" Perturabo calmly asked. "Mortarion did not in the Desolation, and the Emperor is more callous than our brother."

"Guilliman may yet achieve a miracle," Kesar cautioned, "he is a likable man, and has demonstrated his support for guardsmen before."

"It is unwise to rule him out," the Lord of Iron admitted. "And it is why I said civil war can still be avoided."

"Vulkan … " Kesar stopped, considering his words. While the Lord of Drakes did understand how bad a civil war would be, there were lines he had drawn in the sand. Lines which if crossed would have him retaliate against unjustified massacres. "He will try diplomacy first, a longshot he expects will not work out."

"But perhaps it will," Perturabo added. "Vulkan is an idealist, unlike Mortarion he treats a civil war as a last resort, not something to aspire towards."

"He will at least try, which is all I can ask."

"The Emperor is not so humble." The Lord of Iron said, drawing a stark contrast between the Lord of Drakes and Master of Man. "If it served his interest, he would start a civil war, I fear he may already be treating it as one."

"Mortarion may be as well," Kesar groused. "Anyone else?"

Perturabo visibly hesitated. "...I cannot say."

"I understand," Kesar sighed. "If it was spoken in confidence, you cannot speak of it without betraying the trust of another."

The Lord of Iron was clearly relieved at the fact Kesar hadn't pressed for further information. "Thank you, brother."

"There is no need," the Primarch smirked as he imitated Perturabo's voice as best he could. "Really Perturabo, I should be thanking you for discussing this with me, the discussion I had with Konrad and Horus were far more macabre. It's good to hear someone more hopeful for the future."

"Hope is inaccurate," the Lord of Iron clarified, "it would be more accurate to say someone who expects more from all the parties involved than others expect."

"Most would have thought you would be more pessimistic." Kesar mused, finding the dichotomy between who Perturabo was and what the Imperium thought Perturabo was intriguing.

"Most are fools," the Lord of Iron groused. "There is room between naive optimism and depressed pessimism, being a realist does not make you a pessimist."

The Daemonsbane chuckled, "It's an interesting philosophical difference." Thinking of some of his brothers, Kesar continued. "Fulgrim would rather enjoy such a talk, I don't think anyone has had a discussion on philosophy with him in decades."

The Lord of Iron hid a wince from his brother. He hoped he would not have to do the unthinkable. Perhaps he could at least talk with Fulgrim beforehand, just in case it was the last time he could do so.

[joke] Take your whole damn legion and just faff off into the eye of terror, maybe the shock of you all doing stupid will fix this? :V

Here's my idea:

[] Begin writing a compendium on Anti-Chaos, x 5

This essentially combines the compendium on surviving the Maelstrom and invading daemon worlds into one, as well as be a general anti-Chaos book. This would be, by Kesar's extreme standards, a bare-bones collection of his knowledge for the Imperial Army to use. This would give a slight boost for the Imperial Army against daemons and Chaos, but given their numbers that's an insane boost for them when they're in the Maelstrom or facing any other Chaos threat. It'd, at the very least, save billions of lives on its own.

Mechanics aside, we also voted to have the Eternal Wardens more heavily work with the Imperial Army. The Maelstrom crusade is impossible to continue without the Imperial Army on-board. Morale issues would be helped by this. It'd hopefully prevent too many 'soldiers got corrupted, Wardens have to execute 'em' situations which we'd run into.

If that isn't what people are interested in, here's a more varied selection:

[] Begin Writing a compendium on surviving in the Maelstrom
[] Work on upgrading the void shields within your Legion
[] Build a Nechronal Engine
[] Create a building using architectural reflection manipulation (a barracks that prevent dreams)
[] Read the Emperor's notes on the Eldar.

First to help reduce how many lives are being lost each year due to there being so many daemons everywhere, and since the Maelstrom crusade is on pause this one would save more lives now and we can write a daemon world invasion guide next time.

Void shields are very useful, and this would save at least 5% losses in space for us (ships aren't cheap, nor their Astartes crew)!

Nechronal Engine is useful for esoteric Warp research and enchanting equipment for our top-tier guys.

Dreams in the Maelstrom are awful, Chaos-y and a doorway for a sleepy mind to the Warp which is not what we want soldiers to have.

The Emperor is biased to hell and fucking back, but he does know shit and his ultimate plans are sorta heavily involving them and their Webway. Kesar doesn't even know the Slaanesh connection, but he does know that a lot is happening between the Eldar and the Emperor with the Primarchs between them (Primarchs made with a shattered bit of an Eldar god) so to continue on this path he needs to know more.

I'd say learning the language of Chaos would beat out ARM, since that would make it so starting next turn we have a bonus to Rune stuff at minimum and a bunch of other useful effects that are too varied to list.

I'm thinking chaos languages, Emp's notes on warp languages, eldar notes, rune making analysis, arm/psykery experimentation/compendium/chaplain system. I'm not picky on that lastbaction, but I do lean towards psykery.

I'm down for the x5 Compendium because it has the widest reaching benefits. It'll save tens of billions of lives every year and improve our standing with the Imperial Army... which is kinda important these days, when you can't be certain if they'll stick around despite not liking you

For further reason why the x5 anti-Chaos Compendium might be a great idea, from the Discord Server:

3. How many daemons, roughly speaking, does the Imperial Army face in the Maelstrom?
(DH) 3. Around 500 billion annually

That's annually, not per turn. Even if 99% of those were 'just' lesser daemons or weaker, that's a lot. Coupled with the natural environment being super Warp-y and other difficulties living there, even a minor boost against Chaos would save countless lives there.

You do share your discoveries automatically. As for your other question, I don't understand what you're asking.

What level of psychic ability does kesar have?

He's a beta psyker with a low degree of control.

Good lord Kesars rubbing off on me. I was legit thinking "good god, could we just find a daemon planet and throw literally the entire legion at it" just to get out of having to deal with the civil war brewing

At this point the wardens feels like the Yuzan Vong (or some iteration of the nids) from a chaotic perspective, the all destroying legion that comes to fuck your shit, but in actuality are just running from something worse.

I think remember that et some point we discovered that the imperium just don't have the industrial capacity to produce needed things to do the crusade, rebuild humanity, improving people life ,etc
Are our knowledge in non psykery/warp stuff good enough that we could try to invent thing or retro ingineering things that would allow to help with that ?

Sadly not in the quantities you would need.

How are the Wardens the all destroying legion? Matter of fact, in this time where a civil war might really happen now, how does the Imperium see us and our legion?

Just got back to reading this so I might need a recap since Year 40 I think?

I was talking about a deamon perspective the wardes would just burn everything to the ground.

As far as the imperium see us unless some brother do some BIG dumb kesar will just turtle up and kill chaos.
