I'd prefer republican democracy for a successive political system. If that seems too radical for Avernus, then constitutional monarchy (or whatever equivalent) as a temporary compromise.
democracy would just mean that the person with the highest diplomacy would win. Which, isn't really that helpful for us.
Democracy only chooses what is most popular not what is needed. A democracy would not have mandatory militia training on top of a 40 hour work week. I can go on but democracy is a horrible flawed system.

@Enjou we need to build another mobile research platform than we can take a multiyear action to automate there building.
also why are you asking people not on Avernus on how Avernus should have it should choose it's successor?

Besides, monarchic efficiency is a myth. Instead of dealing with constituents, kings had to deal with the demands of nobility. Autocratic hereditary dictatorship, meanwhile, is hardly sustainable and exists without any of the necessary checks and balances to help avoid civil conflict in the event of a succession crisis or mass unpopularity.
I'm not necessarily calling for an ideal democracy to succeed Rotbart, but the adoption of constitutionality as opposed to dictatorial autocracy, hereditary or otherwise.

@Enjou @Nurgle Would it be possible to replace the Advanced Power Armor with the Harvester Heltrooper Regiments? Those tanks are exactly what we need to deal with a quantitative disadvantage with the amount of firepower they can bring, and next turn we can use the opened up Munitorum slot to start the Helguard armor project if we have the resources for it still and no pressing concerns.
My plan has us building another one. It just doesn't start the automation action as there's other more important things to do with the slot that I would rather finish first.
It's about asking people on other worlds who have established systems about the pros and cons of their systems from their experiences. Asking people for advice is hardly a bad thing.
Annwn has one for the Omnissiah, so can build the huge one. It doesn't have the larger Machine-God one, but we don't need to build another huge one of those yet.
I don't mind doing this. Do other people have a preference?

If I would have to pin down where Avernus government policy currently stands and compare it too history examples I would compare it too 'enlightened absolutism' of the late European monarchs.
The last really powerful monarchs of Europe that rules in an autocratic centralised manner to try and reform older traditional practices of the pre french enlightenment era.

I am doing it because the Hellguard need it to survive. We have taken serious casualties twice in 2 decades. We need them to have better armor so they gain veterens instead of dying horrible.

As mentioned democracy does have a number of issues. It's just usually the lesser of evils when it comes to political system. That said we have been doing just fine without it and as shown it seems like it would make a lot more sense to have the people in charge like Rotbart who we control who we know is extremely competent with centuries of experience would have good reason to have a big say in who his successor is.
Besides that we are the ones who will control the governor of Avernus. A lot of people would not be happy if a sub-optimal candidate was chosen since we'd be stuck with them.
The main reason they are dying is because they are usually outnumbered rather than outgunned, getting fire support that can mow down vast swathes of mooks while also being able to give support against tanks would help them massively. 6 Very Heavy Weapon mount hover tanks. I agree that the Elite armor will boost their survival, but for now that is only for the infantry while the tanks could theoretically support all of them while the Heltroopers also get regiments to support them.
