Huh would have thought something like that would be done by Marshal Rakes, but I'm definitely good with getting new blood.

No kidding...

Still those casualties are disgusting.

Yes, yes they are.

Just reading about this "battle" is making me maudlin and a bit sick to my stomach.

Pretty real sense in despair at the idea of fighting such a powerful Tyranid force on the ground.

Makes sense really. The initial size of Grábakr matched that of Hive Fleet Leviathan and after all of our attrition we only reduced it to half its size. That means something like 8% of the hivefleets' ground forces is attacking a single world.

held at bay by brave soldiers and large amounts of explosive
For a nicer thought to a very grimdark (for the trust) war. I serious thinking of a omake named 'avernite duty 2', I only not sure if any of the guys in the first could have survive or Just go with family members (some of those battlebrothers) that decide to honor the first group. Because the guys in my omake do use bombs when they think they will not survive the next battle (they had multiple strategies for last stand involving bombs).

To me is already sad that the avernites can say that they envy the ones in the trust wars. Because Avernus eternal war is also a meat-grinder. And this time they probably die more here (excepted the avernite militia numbers...I think).

Well these looks to be the most bloody war the trust has fought but at least the local enemies can't do anything to us, so way to go orks.

yeah, if the orks had not just mauled all the chaos forces in the region, and a good number from further out you could expect a major attack as soon as it looks like you were winning this war

Glad the Orks have done something useful. And the good news is that our recovery rate tends to be better than that of the Chaos polities, because of our superior tech and their tendencies to backstab one another during times of weakness.

I'm hoping we'll recover enough that we can afford to take out Demagoye during the timeskip. They're small, but I'd rather not have a Slaaneshi polity so close to us given the whole deal with Vect.

While it sucks we are taking such casualties the bright side is that us doing as well as we are has shown how far we have come considering that the old Imperium of Man would have had serious trouble with just Hive Fleet Leviathan while we as small as we are able to take on a fleet as big as it with the Nids in said fleet being many times dangerous than the ones the Imperium of old dealt with.

I wonder how well the old Imperium of Man would have done against a Hive Fleet like Grábakr?

Could we predict where they will want to build their synapse support structures and plant gigantic plasmabombs as mines underneath them?
