@Durin 1 do we think that the assassins guild know about the Polities?
2 do we know if the primarchs know about them or any other human polity?
3 do we know if the assassins guild would be upset?

Honestly seeing as it was the Eldar that had us divine them this last turn I wouldn't be surprised that they might use our freebie for it again. They're obviously interested in what's up with them.

@Durin what do our advisors say to letting the Assassin Temples establish branches on Avernus?
I doubt they would even want to come to the Trust. We are a minor power and we are not shielded the way they are so the lose way more than they could ever gain.
Assuming their willing to play ball at all they might be far more willing to dance with us than normal policies since Avernus offers them actually recruitment opportunities and the last hunter is a place they could hide some in training agents. It wouldn't be branches but interaction/support is possible especially since Ridcully is someone they would love to have access to.

But again all that relies on them willing to play ball and they might have been ordered to stay on the down low as much as possible till the emps comes back.

If we're lucky they might get it in their heads to go and try to make Maerorus 2.0, with added Avernite genes to prevent Chaos corruption.

No.

The Maerorus was one of the greatest clustefucks in the Assassinorum history, the only ways I'd imagine them every trying again is if they were corrupted, stupidly desperate to the point it's a wonder they could capable together the resources for an attempt, or the Emperor himself ordered it. In any other situation they likely kill someone for even suggesting it as a joke.

It sounds like we need to meet the assassins guild to find out what they want. But if my theory holds up than the Lion is helping them. But than that means the Lion has been around and knows about his brothers are around and did nothing. Of course the Lion is a asshole in cannon so... neverless he is one of the best generals.

I also don't think we know about it IC. I wouldn't be surprised if no one outside of the grandmasters of the temples themselves even knew about it. that seems like something they would Purge all records off and not tell anyone so when they died the information guide with them. Aside from maybe a general warning not to follow down that path.

Eh the Assassinorum is an institution built on preparation so they'd make damn sure the lesson stayed learned. Even if the details are erased the warning and the fact they erased everything even what the Grandmasters have access to would says volumes.

I get the feeling that they wouldn't try that even if offered and retained the ability.

Leginstrasse's problem wasn't chaos, she just went rogue, presumably adapting around the control devices they had on her. Their work speaks for itself, she was dangerous enough the Assassins wilfully took daemonic contracts to corral her in a specific direction and when the confrontations finally came after 1000 years of this she managed to fight 2 grandmasters (Vindicare and Culuxes) a squad of assault marines, an Emperor's Champion, 1st company veterans and a squad of scout marines at the same time and win, killing the grandmaster of Culuxes.

The second time she managed to kill the other grandmaster, a high ranking librarian, terminators and essvessor and Lysander with only Lysander surviving the encounter.

In short I get the feeling that if the assassins haven't simply loaded all Maeorus related data and fired it into a sun, then creating new ones falls squarely under the "in case **** U" box.

Eh.

The Assassins ain't like a normal imperial organisation, they don't care about those kind of fuck ups ruining their reputation and are allowed to use stuff like that (although the Maeorus certainly go beyond the limits they've been given).

Its entirely possible they kept records for future reference.

The small note says "Experiment went rogue, two grandmasters killed in final confrontation. Repetition shall not be tolerated."

Personal tinfoil hat conspiracy theory: Lion fell to the abomination. He's defined by his loyalty and abom has obedience as one of his primary domains, it would be extremely easy for abom to convince him he's the ascended form of the emperor, and one of the few places we wouldn't look for him is in abom's throne room due to the danger.

Dawm it that is a terrifying thought, I hope your crazy theory is wrong. Because if not than that means the Abomination has someone powerful enough to block Ridicully.

Except it wouldn't, because Lion is not a fanatical idiot and could easily see a gigantic difference between the actual Emperor and the Abomination, especially since Lion actually met the Emperor?

The whole "obey me because I'm a god" would be rather giving away, for example.

I can see it if it was the Emperor's orders. Considering how much of a cluster fuck things were likely to be after his death having a Primarch hunker down with the foundations to rebuild human society till he comes back. While Humanity seems to be doing much better than expected the amount of threats around could still wipe basically every major polity off the map so the bunker is still a critical contingency.

From a coldly logical perspective it makes perfect sense.

Alright, changed the Sanguinor to another Eldar Choice.

Or maybe they're the Deceiver's patsies. In which case stepping in there could get us some rather unwelcome attention.
