He does remember when we started resorting to bombing our own cities from orbit last time, yes? (When we had that support)

We do have less of our military dead this time, though maybe that just means more damage if large parts of it go rogue.

Eh, I guess as the inquisitor he would be good at judging these things.
We are in a much better situation than last time.

1. We were not taken off guard by this.
2. The cultists are going to have a harder time of getting weaponry.
3. Slannesh is the temptress god, meaning that their forces are extremely corruptive. Khorne is the opposite, as he wants to murder you more than he wants to convert you.
4. We already have strength of will.
5. Our population has more morale than the last time, since we handled this better.
6. Our population was barely touched, and our military is more intact, even though we went against the forces of the god of slaughter.

As well as a billion men and half a million psykers several of the oldest and most respected heroes of Avernus have fallen, including Master Zhukov, one of the three Priamris Psykers originally assigned to assist with the colonisation of Avernus, Major Ajax, one fo the last remaining members of your original bodyguard and one of Avernus' first heroes after his famous last stand against the Sons of War, and Marshal Paulson, the second in command of your military and one of the handful of senior officers who remain from the colonisation of Avernus. To add to this litany of loss just days ago your personal assistant of two centuries, Thaddeus Starr, was killed by a chaos cultist while examining the damage done to the Lonely Citadel.
The number of people who remember Rotbart the administrator adept dwindle further, gotta be hard for Rotbart right now.
You agree with his assessment and actually hope that Turoq will launch an attack on Avernus,
Oh Turoks focus on Ridcully's could cause him to screw himself for us if we are lucky, another overextension of his forces now after his phyric victory in raiding would really mess up his plans.
Inquisitor Klovis-Ultan warns you that he will not be able to justify redeploying Inquisitional assets to help you deal with the cults unless things get out of hand due to how stretched the Inquisition is trying to deal with Turoq. He does assure you however that this is in large part because he is confident that you own security forces will be up for the challenge of putting down cults. Sometimes people believing in you has its downsides.
Klovis-Ultan is right, we can deal with this on our own so we should do. Turok needs the full attention of the Inquisition.
While so far there are no accusations that Fabricator-General Scott arranged for their deaths, either by action or inaction, there are mutterings in that vain which have the potential to become an issue if left alone.
The current trend of the progressive progress must have some cons looking for trouble, best get on that now so as not to upset the current status quo which benefits us in the long run.

Lin's on 56 piety...

With it transition from "more likely to gain traits" to "far more likely" maybe he could actually get 4 piety and transcend his death.

I do expect him to get 59 piety and die that way. I guess there is a miniscule chance of him getting 60.

The number of people who remember Rotbart the administrator adept dwindle further, gotta be hard for Rotbart right now.

Yeah, it must be hard losing the bodyguard you had for several centuries.

Sure there are a few others that remember the old Rotbart but you'd probably need an appointment just to meet them. Ajax on the other hand would be somebody that Rotbart interacted with daily for over three hundred years. Losing him would be difficult.

This puts her at 40 administration. Highest anyone has ever reached in that stat that we've seen I think. I can't imagine how anyone could ever reach paragon in that. There's just not epic enough feats in administration.
Hijacking this little quote as it made me consider the issue(?) of diplomacy. Yes, diplomacy.
It's probably 40K being 40K, but...
D: 13 + 30 = 43- Saint Lin is a master diplomat, able to create agreements from the smallest of common ground and end ancient feuds with words alone.
This is by far the highest diplomacy score we, as Trust, have.
And it's so far above the average, regardless of actual position (so basically ignoring Mineyevs and Ridcullys), that I find it almost uncanny.
Not surprised it's Lin, just surprised he's so far above everyone else.

At this point I am almost more hopeful to see Lin's Diplomatic Paragon than his actual Transcendance. Quite likely to happen, considering he's going to hang out with many far-away polities and very charismatic people, and also his Shooting Star increasing trait pick-up rate.
Who in galaxy has a Diplomatic Paragon, anyway? How does it look like? (We probably had this conversation, but boy was it a looooong time ago.)

so your saying Slaanesh took greater losses to deal more damage, that it bled more to do more than Khorne.
Nah, he didn't loose an Exalted to us, it was Areatha that may have perma-killed it. Also while this invasion dealt less damage to humans of Avernus remeber that we were far from the main objective.

I'm currently throwing together a plan, but need some stuff answered:

@Durin
1. The psyker sheet shows an Alpha ready for the trials this turn. Was this the one that died?
1a. If no, will their trials be this turn or in the presumably three years of the next turn?
2. Can "You Cannot Hide: All" in the Telepathica section be taken more than once? It doesn't say.
3. If Jane delays "Blank Training Assistance: Jane Oakheart" will there be any negative effects other than the expected "knocked back a year for every year delayed"?
4. If we select a new assistant in Year 1 will we have our fourth personal action back for Year 2?
5. I'm a bit uncertain about how your system works with respect to a bonus to percentage of cultists caught versus what Cultist Hunt: All provides. Would Rotbart doing Martial Law actions be better than him doing a Cultist Hunt: All actions?

@Durin
Few questions for turn planning.

  1. Can you tell us if a crit on the Lessons Learned action would improve the trait/otherwise give us a permanent bonus?
  2. How time sensitive is the damage control option for the admech?
  3. Would training master witch hunters be something we could do while Lin is off on his diplomacy thing?
  4. Would it be relatively safe to assume that we'll have a few turns (maybe 10-15 years) with substantially reduced psyker numbers?
  5. Would pulling Jane from the blank training have any issues beyond lost progress, either diplomatic or in the final skill level of the blank forces? Edit: already asked by Enjou

Doubling up a smidgen.

Still I may as well post my questions...then bedz.

@Durin
1. I vaguely recalled you saying that Lin had some plans for when he was getting towards the end. Am I misremembering?
2. Does Areatha think she could guess what Khorne's target in this incursion was based on what we saw? I mean there's a lot she doesn't know on Avernus, but out of everyone we know she's best placed to make an educated guess.
3. Does she think that Chaos was successful in whatever its goal was?
