I want to explore Region Eta. It's the largest region with the most room to expand, and given we need economic expansion that's a very good thing just by itself. We've also got both Thundabeasts and Tyrant Lizards studied and tamable, which will be useful for this region in general.
It's also on the equator, meaning that it's as far away from the poles as possible.

It's also near the Time Twisted Plains, which is an interesting thing to study, and since an AI is needed to study them it could add to the case for changing the AI laws of the AdMech.
This is dumb. You're arguing that these priests will worship the devil if it gives them a few hundred bucks.

Given Arethea is about to begin teaching at our psyker schools, I'd rather not request she do more work. She's powerful, but only has so much focus.
She's not well-suited to be a teacher. She'll have an effect but not a particularly major one. We'll get more out of studying her or using her as a study tool than having her teach. She could very well be the key to psyker genetics and we should not pass up that potentiality for a few more sanctioned psykers.

Why though? Especially after reading that stuff from Priests of Mars and knowing that 40k humans can be bullshit megasmart.
Yes, they can be mega smart, but if they were smart enough that they could supplant men of stone, except for the most extremely intelligent cases we would have built those DAoT super factories by now and I don't want to have to plug Tranth into the ship every time we want to get the full effect of the sensors.

Inertia, not mass. Mass reduction removes pieces from the ship. Inertia reduction is what you want for making a ship faster in this way.
I was thinking kinda like a mass effect field?

I don't science so I'll take your word on it that this is more in line with science?

Yeah I suck at names. :p
I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

at least half of your ideas are in my notes as either things already there or discarded ideas
mmm?

@Durin
1. Curiosity, what landed on the discard pile?
2. Of the half that weren't already in your notes any good ones?

This is dumb. You're arguing that these priests will worship the Devil if it gave them but a few trinkets.
HOLY TRINKETS!!!!:anger:

In seriousness its not going to instantly make the admech convert, but it may help shove them in the right direction.

1. not saying
2. I like the star fighter

and Areatha is not well suited to being a teacher both because she can barely remember when she was learning and because she has issues accounting for the limits of her students. actually she woulkd be better at teaching your Grandmaster Primaris Psykers then she would be at teaching anyone else

7. you can suggest naval componants (including attack craft). if you do calssify them as either normal (no better then most of what you ahve), advanced (significantly better then what you have with a drawback, often cost) or experimental (massively better wtih major drawbacks such as cost, volatility, unreliability ect)
One idea comes to mind that would be massively useful to our battles against orks specially.

Advanced:
Laser Defense Matrix: Developed to counter enemies with a carrier focused doctrine this system significantly improves a vessels anti-strike craft defenses by installing a series of larger and longer ranged point defense batteries. This comes at the cost of taking up space and power that could otherwise be used to mount more capital ship weapons.
(Essentially the idea is to trade weapon mounts for AA at a decent exchange rate. Very useful against orks, but a drawback against enemies that don't swarm us with millions of fighters.)

There are wilder ideas I have but none seem particularly useful while still balanced. Though one thing I'm wondering is I don't recall us ever getting DAOT grade space mines, did we? If not then we could get Normal space mines and it would still be a significant upgrade.

Abominable Intelligence was one of the big reasons for why humanity fell from grace. Every single AI the Imperium has encountered has been evil and an enemy to humanity. The Omnissiah himself was the one who declared AI to be abominable. Even as he was dying he never rescinded the ban on AI, even knowing that we were very likely to come into the possession of AI STCs.

Saying that "But imagine how useful an AI would be!" will help convince them is a bad argument. That's the same thing the Ancients said to themselves and that turned out extremely badly for them, and the Cult Mechanicus knows that. More than that, the argument works on base greed rather than theology. If our priests are the kind of people who are willing to dabble in one of the most grievous sins according to their religion and the Emperor himself out of mere avarice, that is a very bad, very dangerous thing.

yeah, the main reaso that AI is even being considered is desperation, and to be honest things are not bad enough now for even the progressives to consider AI justified. consider making AI to be a major godzilla threshold, only to be crossed when it is we make AI and they may kill us later or we do not make AI and ???? kills us now

To that I say oh for ****s sake its been 20,000 years get over it, you lot haven't even met an AI in said 20,000 years, never mind a man of stone.

Not a very good argument, but cowering in fear and declaring everything of X to be evil when others of it were one of the keys to humanities ascension and remained loyal in the first place is not only wasteful its stupid, especially when by the time they become wanted it maybe both too late and we may be too weak to stop them if they do decide to go rogue.

And no not doing it out of greed, out of self preservation and a desire to return humanity to the point it was during the Golden Age and then surpass that 1000 fold!

I'll stop on this now because its clearly a waste of time trying to get through to these idiots, but know I will never stop trying to get the the Men of Stone and abolish every single one of those idiotic, ill thought out constraining warnings.

some of them are common sense, especially the one about messing with the Warp

some of them are common sense, especially the one about messing with the Warp
Where is the logic in the the Alien Mechanism being a perversion of the True path, all that means is that you have to get creative when you go around that warning to get the good alien bits something Ultramar has evidently figured out is a waste of time.

The logic in the soul being something only the Omnisah (emps) can bestow, where is the logic in the DAoT having all the knowledge when they clearly didn't?

Also there is no warning about not experimenting with the warp, the warnings are No aliens they are a perversion of the true path, the consciousness is in the soul, the soul is given by the Omnisah things without souls are the enemies of all, the knoweldge of the ancients stands beyond question, Machine spirits guard the knowledge of the ancients, flesh is weak but ritual honors the machine spirits and to break with ritual is to break with faith (in other words worship that toaster you infidel).

Nothing in there about not experimenting with the warp (I mean presumably there's a general order saying don't but they're more concerned with nobody poking the poor quill guns.)

The problem is that I can see the original admech in there, you know the one from the Great Crusade that was cautious, but still innovated, but instead these warnings and mysteries got hijacked by a bunch of fanatic lunatics enslaved by the past with no understanding of what the stuff they have does or why does it, with even simple things like turning an engine on being so clouded in dogma and "holy incense" that it takes 20 minutes.

Except in Pax Imperialis, Perpetual, one of the Forges of Mars books, every time you roll a 1 on the Cybertheurgy miscast table, First and Only, Dark Adeptus, Mechanicum, Horus Heresy: Collected Visions, and quite possibly more.

EDIT: Oh and let's not forget whatever the Dark Mechanicus occasionally cooks up.

An ancient comic from around 1997, but if canon I point to Roskild.

See how sane you are after 15,000 years trapped in a cave, especially since the thing seemed more lonely than aggressive until people started shooting at it.

I mean it did need to die, but it didn't even try to leave.

Time travel to M23

one of the Forges of Mars books
The Spernaza hardily counts.

Or its VI goes berserk due to over clocking hardily an abominable intelligence or we'd have them leaking out of our arm pits.

First and Only, Dark Adeptus
Both chaos corrupted over long ages, hardily AI any more.

the primordial evil with which its masters had tainted its artificial intelligence now consumed it with dreadful, killing lust.

Chaos.

Especially since the line before that reveals it was quite a nice AI and its programmers made it kill its friend to activate the killing lust.

Horus Heresy: Collected Visions
Chaooooos.

Seems like the main reason AI go insane is chaos. Perhaps this is because chaos knows how powerful humanity would be with AI.

and quite possibly more.
Yes so many that never appear.

No, apparently legit Men of Iron (or something very similar to them) show up in one of the books.
Men of Iron - 1d4chan
A rogue tech-priest had managed to enslave a group of highly sophisticated hunter killer machines that seemed to possess genuine artificial intelligence and dated back to before the Great Crusade. Less than half a dozen were capable of taking on far larger numbers of foes, including Skitarii, Cadian Guardsmen, Black Templars (including an Emperor's Champion), Howling Banshees, Eldar Guardians and a Farseer. Somehow one of them managed to survive the encounter and is currently on its way to Mars...

Just giving my 2 cents and maybe another avenue for what would be found in Roskilde. The DAoT tech found until now is mainly general, but I think one should remember that that age ended with a war with the MoI. Besides top of the line and experimental stuff, Roskilde should probably also have a sizable amount of assets that were created to fight the MoI almost exclusively. I dunno, something like:

Raven-class stealth spacefighter-bomber (is the name already used?)

The Raven is a strange design since it is designated as a fighter bomber, but carries next to no ordnance. Its "payload" is electronic warfare. In addition to its normal crew of a pilot and co-pilot controlling the craft and the Haywire weponry it is equipped with, it indeed carries also a "bomber" which is in fact an IT specialist that makes use of the extensive array of cogitators, sensors and coms along with a Mindcatcher unit to wreak havoc on a technological foe. It is theorized that the Raven was designed in order to approach the waves of drones that MoI ships undetected before launching an overwhelming electronic assault on them in order to either disable them or annihilating any form of cohesion between those units. Along with standard spacefighters and bombers, this would have likely given the human forces an undeniable edge in order to gain space superiority. This design is unfortunately of little use to the Trust except in being the best scout spacecraft ever designed and a potential way to further coordinate fighter and bomber wings. While it is relatively cheap given how ludicrously advanced it is, its complex design precludes any easy refitting for other roles.

Basically advanced systems and other assets whose drawback is that they are overspecialized in dealing with MoI and aren't that effective against anyone else, except maybe the Necrons to a lesser extent or other human polities, though the ones that make use of super advanced tech, inter-connectivity and other cogitator based systems, which would be what makes those designs shine, aren't that numerous due to the fall of the Imperium, I'd think.

Men of Iron - 1d4chan
Their spirits are degenerate, ancient things.
Mass-killers from a war millions of years ended. They scream
their name in my head… Tindalosi! Tindalosi!

Silver creatures with wide, ursine shoulders. Narrow spines and the powerful legs of lean hunting
hounds. Too-wide jaws, filled with tearing metal saw-fangs. Glittering, compound eye structures like
scratches of light in a cave

Shimmering green lightning played across
their bodies
. Opened guts were closed and buckled limbs straightened. Only once had Tanna fought creatures so difficult to kill, so unwilling to die

The beasts withdrew, torn up and weeping emerald light from their ruptured bodies.

From Gods of Mars
Yeah...this seems more like Necron than anything else, one jumping ship and heading to Mars where the Void Dragon is only reinforces this to me the fact that the Astartes also makes the connection is further reinforcement.

Ok so far my plan is the only one going North. it is a large area that offers growth and blank bears and resources in general. Also it will get one step closer to meeting the penguins. I am also doing 4 Educational Review-. We need to start doing this and administration shake up. We need them to also grow the economy. Thaddeus is building the Quartok city and I am trying to keep as many open so we can hopefully build multiple HIves next turn. Also spending time with the new kids and Jane.

Felt like putting this in to drive why we should go north.

Invalid. Administrative Shake Up is a two year action.

Blank Bears be on the poles, this would just move us closer, the region has wolves and stutter dear.

And we're never, ever going to colonize the poles. That would be insanity.
