It's a all in expedition. They are taking from everyone the adeptus mechanicus progressive and conservative factions. A few companies of Space Marines so I would say they have techmarines with them. Assets from the fleet and a contingent forces from us.

Bad, the two will find it harder to work together when the Destroyer comes. Stopping a C'tan comes before all other petty concerns.
And what Xeno Groups and how is the Greater Good a threat?
We already have established networks on all worlds, albeit to lesser degrees on worlds like Nilfheim and Muspelheim.
Still we're no where near good enough to be of any use in this instance save maybe helping the Inquisition.
There are 5 companies of Astartes going so yes. IIRC the structure Durin gave for the Guard's companies maybe 50.

Its a shipyard, it'd be hard to drag the whole thing back to the Trust (I'm not even sure we can move ship yards through the warp) and I recall Durin saying it was a small ship yard, for producing specialised ship components not constructing ships whole scale.
Edit: If there are special components in the shipyard, I'd wager Tranth will disassemble them and stick them in the Well for future study.

I really don't get this attitude. Durin has said the point of the wildlife is that there is always going to be more of it, with specific mention of taking steps in we start making headway. There is going to be a massive backlog of wildilfe to study on the last turn of the quest. Why are you so insistent on studying the handful of species durin came up with rather than the ones he oked?

Not him, obviously, but a lot of people in this site never give much attention to OCs when compared to canon characters (in this case canon refer to those who During personally designs); probably because they're only invested in those that they read about the most.

Yeah...no.
One trip is extremely dangerous and may take him up to ten years if he survives as well as drawing significant Trust resources, we're not sending him out multiple times for one small ship yard.
If there are crucial components that are worth reverse engineering he can detach them and stick them in the well, and but otherwise he's likely going to just grab all the research data, schematics (hopefully for the Deus Class) and then deny the rest of the facility to anything else, since by that point other people will likely follow.

Not bad, good. Both polities have already proven to be able to work together when faced with existential threats.
Every Xeno group that was on good terms with humanity before the dark age ? The Imperium didn't become xenophobic by accident.

No they've proven they can ignore each other when faced with existential threats, that is not the same as work together.
You mean the same way every human group did the same? A fact that has been pointed out by everyone from Vulkan in the Great Crusade to ****ing Dante in M40 (he was born then)? The Imperium became xenophobic because of an asshole with laurels glued to his head didn't want to put in the effort, not because the galaxy turned into a back stabbing bonanza.

Why can't it be both ? Are you saying there were no Xeno that enslaved humans ? Because that's not true.
When we did our first expansion, one of the main possible draws to Eta, one of the things that made people consider exploring despite the explicit risk was that it was home to a people.
Now there are a bunch of peoples, and more popping every now and then. It feels like things are getting bloated.
My personal headcanon is that pretty much all alien species that were actually allied with humanity got attacked by the Men of Iron. It would only make sense for them to eliminate possible sources of aid for humanity.
Since those Xenos were likely less advanced than humanity most of them probably died or were knocked back into the pre space age. Some might not even have known about humanity by the time they got back into space, or they might not know about the rebellion and think humanity sicked their metal attack dogs on them.

No they're not, they're aggressively ignoring each other and the Ultramarines (if they had the capabilities) would apparently like nothing more than to get back to full annihilation setting. Not exactly a good basis for the two to fight against a fully formed Star God and its legions of omnicidal necrons.
No of course it was both, my point was that the xenophobia was introduced en mass and fed by Emps. Why I don't know, maybe he genuinly believed all that crap about humanity being the "masters of the stars" maybe, he just couldn't be arsed or maybe it was his way of getting back at Eldrad, because it is now explicit that the two had a relationship before the Great Crusade.
More likely it was the same reason he doomed himself in the end "I don't understand you I don't care to understand you, if I don't need to keep you I'll kill you." In other words the logic that turned Lorgar against him.
It would also explain why the majority of aliens left in space after the war were assholes, since all the nice ones were either killed by the Men of Iron, turned into assholes by the men of iron or were knocked to a pre space flight stage.

Er, but then how would humanity have gotten kicked back a few thousand years, if the MoI didn't try and kill them? It doesn't make sense to assume that the Warp Storms were to blamer every time. Then again, when has hatred ever been reasonable?

Does anyone remember how we gain the True Name of the Chaos Gods? I remember Durin mentioning that we had to roll a nat 100 in order to do so. But I can't remember if it was through Saint Lins study or if it was through Ridcully's divination.

Definitely think we should expand to the northern regions since that would put us closer to the penguins who are a powerful psyker guardian race which may allow us to learn a lot of things from them that could seriously help. Also potential Blank Polar Bear mounts that size of tanks.

If serious then I think the only beings in setting who are that evil are the Dark Eldar, they're basically the embodiment of dicks because I wanna.

I've always assumed that Emps either lost a big chunk of his humanity making the Primarchs, intentionally discarded a chunk of his soul responsible for compassion to ensure he'd be pragmatic and expand quickly (and he still barely made it to Ullanor in time, which means his decision was technically correct, and that really says a lot about this universe that discarding your compassion could ever be the correct decision) and his increasingly jerkassery was because he was working off of dimming memories of how a human would have reacted under similar circumstances, or some of both. Sanguinus was a lot nicer than Ferrus, so his soul chunk did a better job of restoring Emps' compassion, and having psyker souls shoved into his own everyday would probably help him remember how being human worked.

Nah, there are no nice guys in 40k or at least not that many. It's just a matter of how evil they are.

Eta for lizardfolk and the slim possibility that one of my wildlife submissions might get canoned (Soul Shell Pangolin). North for Blank Bear cavalry (FUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOUUUUUU CHAAAAAOOOOOOS)

Possible depending on the lore your going off. If Moltarch is canon then the Primarchs were created at no cost to emps, but if you go off the Shamen thing then its possible.
From the book Wolfsbane we know that Emps did some ****ed up shit to make the Primarchs, though what exactly this is isn't explicitly told to us in the book.
However, Last Church shows us that even before he created the Primarchs Emps was dangerously lacking in basic understanding of humanity in general, seeming in capable of understanding why one would put their faith in anything like a religion, and seems unable to see that his actions are just as bad as the crusaders he so despises.
In fact as time goes on I'd say he acts more and more like an Eldar, rather than a human, such as him falling into despair when the webway gate gets broken. Like sure you'll loose sol, that's sad, but you can still evacuate and move...all hope isn't lost ya eejit.
Eh the point I'm getting at is that I personally believe emps just fell into the idea of Hard Man got to Make Hard Decisions, as we see later on in the War of the Beast that the Beast could have been dealt with without going at hyper speed, and started to loose his humanity due to his intense age and because fundamentally he wasn't human. A giant among pygmies, unable to understand or properly empathise with them.
Edit: Fundamentally Emps is just another example of what I think 40K's fundamental message is.
It says that there are clauses to get them to work together and that after the awakening they cleared out the orks in their area, but I have very strong doubts that those clauses would have been activated. I can certainly imagine the Etherials trying, but the Ultramarines agreeing? Nah.
At the present I'd wager the Ultramarines at least are just ignoring the Tau and killing as many orks as possible while the Tau try to encourage greater relations, but I will ask Durin when he returns.
I hope I am wrong after all.
Well by that logic then the Tau are the messiahs their most evil act is sterilisation. Compare that to anyone else.
