Honestly, I'd be interested in creating a web of mutual defense pacts with aligned Imperial holdouts around us, Including the Blood Dragons. Something similar to NATO in a way? Though obviously the same level of commitment wouldn't be feasible.
Unfortunately the Dragons are the only other friendly polity we're likely the interact with at the moment.

Travel time is so long, it'd be like trying to create NATO with sailing ships.

Unless we can get the Eldar to set it up of course.

Multi-nation alliances existed well before NATO and during the age of sail, it's just the most immediate example I could use. But you are not completely wrong. We might be able to create some version of Rogue Traders who explore the surrounding area in search of further Imperial holdouts? Just an idea.

Someone mind telling me what use Ear to the Ground had? So far it doesn't seem to have affected our decision making in any way. It just seems to have been a waste of a pair of actions.

Those tiny statelets have little to nothing to offer us. Any military contributions they make will be trivial compared to what we can mobilize on our own, and that won't change unless we give them access to some of our more advanced STCs. We can't trade them any advanced STC unless they revamp their information security, and we can't push that to any satisfactory level unless we actually occupy the worlds and do invasive surgeries.

The Rogue Trader idea does have merit though.

That'll come up during a proper High Council Meeting, not the current emergency one.

Of course, but those were generally on the same continent or closely connected, but it takes us a year to get to the Dragons (less now thanks to the Abbachi).

We don't need rogue traders Muspelheim's stealth fleet is already doing that for us, but the closest seems to be the united sectors of Amrica which we learned off thanks to Ridcully.

Of course it hasn't had an effect this is an emergency meeting, not the proper meeting where things like the bank and integration with the dragons would have been discussed.:eyeroll:

Its still useful when it becomes relevant, but it isn't yet.

[X] Plan Owe a Favor

I vote this in hopes they will use the favor to take advantage of the Trust's engineers to upgrade their industry. I also hope to integrate them so I don't particularly care about owing them a favor.

I think he meant ships that explore & trade with neighbouring petty Imperiums and statelets. Which I think is worthwhile; we can give them Impaler STCs (which the Chaos factions all have anyway) in return for any archeotech or STCs they happen to have, if any.

Pretty sure the Impaler was spread far a wide by the Imperium so no need there, but I can see Varquez setting up some rogue trader type things using his old expertise.

You are both wrong. Ear to the Ground is supposed to tell us about what other people have in store so we can do something BEFORE the meeting. At least in theory. In practice, not only has there been absolutely no reason for us to do anything but wait for the meeting, as I predicted, it also seems that some players never even intended to use it for the one possible purpose it might've had.

Seems like a good idea, may as well get something out of the distribution of STCs local chaos realms have. On the other hand I'm worried the Trust is getting its name a little out there.

On the third, Tzeentch gifted hand, I'm willing to do almost anything to better prepare the Trust for T3 and 4 Waaaghs.

No the idea is to tell us what people have in mind to give us more time to come up with alternative suggestions and plans, give our opinions ect. which we have done.

It has has never been intended for us to do anything more than that, we have never gotten options to "take action" before these things happened.

You are just wrong.

There's no action either to change people's minds about proposals we have before we go to meeting, and yet Sound Out explicitly says that that's something we can do.

I don't think the Impailer was that widespread. They only had it for a pretty short time before the end.
You underestimate how much the Imperium could spread those things.

Combination of astronomicon, astropaths and a high lord push can get these things everywhere.

Astartes chapters, Forge Worlds and major hive worlds, and it spreads from there.

They won't have several variants, but according to Durin the impaler isn't too hard to modify it once you figure it out.

Yes, but that's never been the case except with the Quartok so unless @Durin wants to confirm that is the case then I'm sticking to the idea that barring exceptional circumstances it is to get us a head of the curve and thinking before we get bull rushed during the meeting itself.

You underestimate how slow Imperial Bureaucracy was and how anal the Mechanicus could/can be. As I understand it even the most benign STC technologies can undergo centuries of testing before being put into galaxy wide production.

I'm well aware of how anal it can be, but I am also well aware of how fast the Imperium can move if they really want too.

This was the STC for much cheaper replacement bolter that can be used by the common soldier a reasonable replacement for the las gun which is called a flashlight with good reason. Independently verified by a lord inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus passed on without fuss by a loyal imperial world that has come to the personal attention of the High Lords of Terra (I'm pretty sure they were involved in its creation.)

It is not a minor, but nor is it an incredibly expensive or excessively holy kind, but it is the kind of STC that the Astra Militarum, the Astartes representative and possibly the Fabricator General would have wanted out there ASAP, and if the master of the Administratum says jump, the administratum does it.

The high lords are made for these big sweeping changes. They just very rarely do so.

Of the justifications to owe the BDs a favor, can we have at least militarily relevent ones, not 'So we can industrialize them' when we can do so regardless?

The issues with industrializing the BDs are still present even when owing them a favor. We just will do it regardless. Just push through it in the High Council meeting to industrialize the BDs if you want it, not force us to do it through owing a favor (which might mean things like not cleaning up infosec), which doesn't even guarantee that we'll industrialize them as opposed to something else we might not like.

Yeesh.

you cant prepare for a tier 4 waagh, it would hit you with tens of trillions of +800 Orks. the Imperial Trust and every polity within 1k LY would be roadkill before that. Abbadons Black Imperium would have a desperate fight if one comes their way
tier 3 would merely be trillions of +400 Orks, which is still an overwhelmingly powerful force but is one that you may be able to match within the next few centuries

I will be blunt, voting to owe a favor for reasons not related to needing more military is extremely unwise.

I merely want there to be less damage to our own forces, which the presence of the Blood Dragon forces would allow.

[X] Plan Owe a Favor

I'd rather not be worn down slowly via attrition over the decades because of a refusal to reach out and trust the nest, we need to become closer to them, they are the only other humans within reach of us and if we dont eventually work together as one then we are doomed in the long run.

I still also care for the extra support it provides us. I might be a bit unreasonable about it but I take the Beast very seriously. To the point I don't care about owing a favor for help with expidently dealing with a T2 Waagh. I also kind of want to see what their use of the favor tells us. What are they most pressed for at the moment? I just personally hope they are in the position to use it on industrialization.

  • [X] Plan No Favor
-[X] Ask for Extraordinary (10 pts worth) of Fleet Support in dealing with the WAAAGH
-[X] Do not ask for Guard support dealing with the Waaagh
-[X] Do not ask for Astartes support dealing with the Waaagh
    [X] Plan Owe a Favor
-[X] Ask for massive Fleet support dealing with the Waaagh - Have forty Astartes capital ships and a hundred and fifty cruisers and associated escorts deployed. This will provide your fleet with a decent number of powerful ships, many equipped with bombardment cannons which are highly effective against Hulks . 8
-[X] Ask for major Guard support dealing with the Waaagh - Have four billion Guard deployed to Svartalfheim, this will provide you with a massive number of skilled soldiers, though not as well equipped as your own armies. 4
-[X] Ask for major Astartes support dealing with the Waaagh - This will provide you with a chapter equivalent force of Blood Dragon's, greatly increasing the number of heroes and elites you have on hand. 8

This will provide your fleet with a decent number of powerful ships, many equipped with bombardment cannons which are highly effective against Hulks . 8
-[X] Ask for some Guard support dealing with the Waaagh - Have two billion Guard deployed to Svartalfheim, this will provide you with a significant number of skilled soldiers, though not as well equipped as your own armies. 2
-[X] Do not ask for Astartes support dealing with the Waaagh - Rely instead in your own elites
    [X] Plan overwhelming fleet support
-[x] Ask for overwhelming Fleet support dealing with the Waaagh - Have eighty Astartes capital ships and three hundred cruisers and associated escorts deployed. This will provide your fleet with a large number of powerful ships, many equipped with bombardment cannons which are highly effective against Hulks. 16

-[x] Ask for some Astartes support dealing with the Waaagh - This will provide you with half a chapter of Space Marines, and elite force that you be highly useful in dealing with the Ork Elites. 3

@Durin
1. What are the major differences between us deciding to lead the campaign or instead deciding to opt for Julius?
2. Does anyone have any indication as to why the Crons are suddenly active?

In a more general thing I find it kinda awesome that dedicating a chapter's worth of marines isn't even a major favour any more :)

Bleeding our already battered ally would be in poor taste. We are spending time to preserve material resources, no point in having more meat for the grinder.
