If I remember correctly, the Sirens get a power boost from eating souls right? How much of a boost do you suppose they've gotten from the recent glut of souls? Even if I'm remembering wrong, how do you suppose having a reasonably steady influx of human souls has affected their society?

You guys are underestimating the bad blood between the Necrons and humans. It was a controversial decision to warn them about the massive new threat from the Orks. A single daemonworld in their (and our) neighborhood is waaaay far down on the list of threats to us, which would remove the main reason we decided to suck it up and do it anyway.

The Necrons would have to all be clinically retarded to not know about the existence of said daemonworld, as it's been around for a while. The only reasonable explanation for them not doing anything about it is some combination of having bigger fish to fry (Tyrannids) and not being able to deal with a daemonworld is a cost effective manner (remember, Eldar are around their tech level with a specialization in psychic shit and haven't been shown to be capable of handling one). We have nothing to offer the Necrons that they would likely view as being worth even a marginal expenditure of effort on their part, and that's if we were able to convince the Trust that an actual tit-for-tat deal with the Necrons was acceptable.

That was just the one general, it doesn't necessarily indicate the status of their leadership, and in fact likely doesn't, considering they never attacked us again.

Wait was that the one I did, or a different one?

Still plans for the future.

1. Trade with the Nyne and Sirens I want me that Alkhestry and Runes.
2. Assess the situation of the Conservative faction they've just taken hits and we've gotten a lot of prestige.
3. Expand hives...like seriously.
4. Fix the well for ADVENTURE!
5. Either divine Vulkan or divine the best time to go for Rokslide either or.

@Durin
1. How does Sanctus Foreum compare to an equivalent warlord?
2. Will there be an action to upgrade the other titans we have to a similar level?
1. it is tougher, more accurate and has better guns, it could take on a pair of itself pre upgrade
2. no, you could only do it to this one because you had to rebuild it

The daemonworld situation remains the same as it was, we (As in the Inquisition) can quarantine the system Valinor is in but that's it, any chance of cleansing or even damaging a daemonworld are far far in the future.

According to our research they eat them for food, not a power boost.

You're thinking of the crocodiles in Duat which enter an enhanced state by nomming a soul.

We're basically luxury food to them in that regard.

daemonworld is a cost effective manner
@Durin
1. In this verse are the Crons able to manufacture Cadia Pylons without the Void Dragon?

I'm not in favour of asking them to help, but it is an interesting point of order.

So random question and sorry if it's been answered before but what are the general opinions of the sapient races on Avernus towards humans? Like what do the trolls, sirens, Nynye, and those little mushroom people think of us overall? What does the rest of the Imperial Trust think of all sapient races that are found on Avernus? Or would these questions need us to use one of our diplomacy moves to find out? I'm mostly just asking out of idle curiosity.

By my recollections.

Nynye like us or at least Lulana's do, the rest think we're crazy for willingly entering the caverns.

Sirens for the most part respect us, are a little freaked out that humans created a chaos god, but also don't care over much apart from special individuals like Lin or Ridcully.

Trolls don't really like us, we leave them alone they do the same.

Mycenids not a large number of interactions, but most generally positive. Good trade nice stuff.

As for the Trust...too varied ranges from AHHHHHHHH to interesting.

No, they do get a power boost, however on Avernus there are plenty of souls to eat, many of which are psychicly and spiritually stronger than humans, so the whole soul trade does not increase siren power levels by a significant amount.

on the soul trade, I suspect there is a political element to it. Forcing a fairly potent power to bend like that may be making their leader look good. Not to mention control over what is likely the most sought after luxury food they have access to is probably giving the queen a fair bit of social leverage. Either that or they sell them to other siren cities for loads of money. I've put some thought into this, since selling military secrets for a luxury is a weird trade unless your leveraging that luxury item for something of value.

Ehhh...

That isn't right, at least looking at our research section in the mechanicus section which is where I'm getting my info ATM.

It says that they eat souls to feed their powers, the stronger a siren the longer they can go before they need to do this, human souls are more potent than an animals soul (I guess due to sentience) and so human souls are valuable, but not required.

[*]Siren: Minor, Siren Lady: Delta, Siren Queen:Beta ,Queen Azshara: Low Alpha
[*]Preliminary Investigation: Magos Biologis Saren spent the year investigating the Sirens of the Azure Islands. His examination shows that despite having a natural psychic talent the sirens are not Chaos tainted. He also determined that the two types of Sirens that he examined, the ordinary Siren and the Siren Ladies, are distinctly different breeds but can both be birthed from ordinary Sirens. As far as Magos Biologis Saren can tell Sirens do not age and seem to breed asexually. Siren intelligence seems to be dependent on the breed with ordinary Sirens showing animal levels of intelligence while Siren ladies seem to be almost as intelligent as humans. Lesser Sirens seem to be compelled to obey the greater Sirens and there seems to be a telepathic link between all Sirens.
[*]Detailed Survey: Magos Biologis Saren has completed a more detailed examination of the Sirens and has given you an overview of his results. He informs you that Sirens normally eat fish and other meat but occasionally need to feed their psychic powers by consuming a soul. From what he can gather the more powerful a Siren's psychic powers are the more souls they need to eat but also the less often they need to eat souls. Human souls, being far more powerful then the normal animal souls that they consume are far more potent and less are needed to sate their hunger.
[*]Magos Biologis Saren has discovered that Siren's gather in groups of between fifty and three hundred, called courts, around each Siren Lady. These courts each have their territory and the members are spread throughout this territory, which may overlap with the territory of several other courts. The Sirens within a court are linked with a telepathic bond which allows them to communicate and only Siren Ladies can form connections with other Sirens. There are some Sirens who for some reason are not a member of any court and these Sirens seem to be constantly trying to drain souls and are responsible for many of the attacks on humans.
[*]In depth Examination: Near the end of the year Magos Biologis Saren personally briefs you on what he has discovered. He has totally failed to gain any new information about the Sirens feeding and how it works or even what happens to the souls of those that they eat, though the souls being consumed seems likely. However has has discovered much about the Sirens biology including that they were almost certainly engineered out as expected but the base was Eldar rather then human. This news is shocking as it almost certainly disproves his theory that they were engineered by the humans of the Dark Age of Technology.
[*]In depth Examination Repeat: Magos Biologis Saren finished his investigation into Sirens and has made several important discoveries. The first discovery that he has made is that Sirens seem to have knowledge of the Eldar language hard-wired into their DNA, showing a level of understanding to several recordings of the Eldar language that he has played for his captives. The second major discovery is that the Sirens seem to consume and digest souls, totally removing all traces of what the soul used to be.

Again the creature that gets a power boost is the Duat crocodile.

But can they eat multiple souls to gain a permanent Stat boost? Like, if a Siren needs a human soul maybe once a year, then could eating one a month noticeably accelerate a Princess evolving to the point of Queen-level power? It says that they need to eat souls to survive, but there's a certain lower limit of food a human needs to survive. Eating different foods and more of certain foods has effects on people. I was wondering if something similar happens with Sirens.

I mean, eating a hundred or so human souls giving a Siren a Trait wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

No idea.

We don't even know how a princess becomes a queen in their society.

Do they have a way of increasing their power through eating stuff? All our research doesn't say.

I'm inclined to say no because they treat and value human souls like luxury items rather than something which by all rights should be a military asset if it can increase their power levels. On the other hand they may just be pulling a funny one on us as they are letting us trade "luxury goods" for their military secrets.

Man, I can't wait for the bonuses those will give us. Think we'll have to expand the Rune Department to keep up with the workload?

Marshal Florentina Cheshire of the Aridia PDF
Age: 230, rejuved to 25

M: 17+10=27 (+38 bonus)- Marshal Cheshire is a skilled officer more then able to lead her forces into battle, though she is by no means exceptional.
I: 12+9=21 - Marshal Cheshire's experience in the Helguard has given her a good grounding for commanding covert operations, and for carrying them out.
A: 14+1=15- Marshal Cheshire is skilled enough at organisational matters to fulfill the requirements of her position.
L: 16+3=19- Marshal Cheshire has leaned much of the arts of war, both from experience and in a more academic setting when she was getting her commission. Unlike most she has studied the practical end of all form of combat, from piloting to stealth.
P: 16+8=24- Marshal Cheshire's will has been tested countless times among her time in the Helguard, time in which she fought against some of the most horrifying foes known to mankind.
D: 12+1=13- Marshal Cheshire is coldly professional at all times, leading her to be respected rather then admired by her subordinates.
C: 18+24=42 Marshal Cheshire is one of the most skilled and flexible warriors on Avernus, able to fight with every weapon issued to your forces with equal skill.
(53/7+1.5=8.5)
General (+4M, +1A, +2C -1D, -1I)- Florentina Cheshire has though dint of hard work, tactical skill and survival risen to become one of the most senior military officers of Avernus.
Avernite Bi-centenarian
(+6C, +2P, +1I, -2D when dealing with non-Avernites) – Having survived two centuries of life on Avernus Marshal Cheshire have proven herself to be an expert warrior, the bearer of a strong will and very alert to danger.

Survivor of the Pink Skies
(+2P, +1C, +5 to all rolls against daemons (+1 Control if relevant))- Having proved herself against the most dangerous foes in the galaxy during the First Daemonic Incursion Marshal Cheshire has had her faith and combat skills tested.
Leads from the front
(+3C, +1D, +10 to morale of force under her command, more likely to die in battle)- Marshal Cheshire always leads her men from the front, fighting among the common troopers were she claims that he can feel the flow of the battle better. Whether or not this is true it is undisputed that his men fight harder when their general is fighting beside them.
Helguard Founder
(+2M, +8I, +1L, +4P, +1D, +8C, far harder to kill)- Marshal Cheshire was one of the first members of the Avernite Helguard, and spent almost two centuries as a member of that elite force. In this time she was trained by and alongside some of the most deadly warriors of Avernus, and was tested against the greatest threats to the Imperial Trust.
Generalist
(+1M, +1I, +2L, +4C, +50 to all combat rolls, can use any military equipment)- Marshal Cheshire has training and experience with every weapon and military vehicle used by the Imperial Trust, and can use them all equally well.

Florentina Cheshire was born twenty five years after the founding of Avernus in The Fens to a working class family. Like many Avernites she enlisted in the PDF as soon as she reached the required age. From the beginning she proved to be an outstanding soldier who was quickly able to master the use of new weapons. As such she was assigned to be her squads special weapons trooper from the start. Over the next years Florentina Cheshire continued to expand her skill set, gaining qualification for Chimeras, as a Sniper and as a corpsmen as well as ever special and heavy weapon currently in use.

It was this variety of talents that led to then Corporal Cheshire to be selected as one of the initial trainees for the Avernite Helguard at the age of twenty-eight. Corporal Cheshire prospered in the Helguard, where her diverse skill set led to her being transferred between regiments as needed, and to her eventual commissioning as an officer.

For the next century and a half Florentina Cheshire remained in the Helguard, where she saw some of the heaviest fighting in the history of the Imperial Trust and slowly climbed the ranks and expanded her skillset to cover an ever wider range of weapons and vehicles. Eventually during the First War of Expansion she received a promotion to Lieutenant-General of the Helltroopers, as it was viewed that her skills were wasted as a Major-General of the Helguard. Lieutenant-General Cheshire proved equally skilled at commanding regulars as elites, and earned a place in history in the Siege of Mar Sara, where her forces held line South-134 for three weeks after being cut off. This feat was enough for General Richard's to select her as the next Marshal of Aridia after Marshal Christianson's unfortunate death.

Marshal Florentina Cheshire is a highly professional soldier whose entire life as been about combat and preparation for combat. As such she is rather out of her depth in a non-military setting, and very to the point in a military setting. You sometimes wonder if she even knows what small talk is.

@Durin
1. Is the Sanginour a valid target for The Nature of (God or Pantheon)?
2. Does Lin think the Sanginour is still active?
3. What's our rough gestamate for the Nynye population?
4. What about Lulana's hive specifically?

Probably not very, I mean, there's a very strong sense of community, but it's not a Hive-mind, so they still need to talk to each other. Some people react this way to their losses. Not sure if it's the case with the Marshal or if she's just not a social person.

Yeah, but that's with fellow Avernites that they spend their everyday lives with. The offworlders only get to see the on duty soldiers for the most part, especially during disastrous and deadly (for them) campaigns.
