That's really bad. But Trust forces now have critical capital ship advantage so the orbitals will be ours soon. We'll end this WAAAGH! one way or another.

Why are the escorts doing so bad @Durin? Is it because the leading Imperial Naval Doctrines are ill-fitted for working with DAoT ships?
its mostly due to the fact that the enemy escorts are swarming them, and that Ork escorts are scary

Ophelia's Song
Why not up Addio on his Imabic Pentameter attempt and write a song?

In fact, why not subscribe to syllable limitations and arrangements?

Soon: 5555-5555-5555-5555-5555-5555 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahhaha no

Ophelia's Song

Upon the green tide that engulfed Mar Sara, a choir stood high. Led by a soldier, they were all so, through and through. They were all makers and shapers of fire, wielded to destruction - As it was the task of soldiers. Long had they been channeling that destructive rage, but today was a different one.

A woman most bright and young stood among them, Ophelia Jameson her name. The quiet woman took comfort from her kin's presence, with a silent demeanor that belied her greatness and strength. She looked upon the great green, upon the warriors of fire around her, and upon the sky, light fading away.

She sang.

---

The sun sets, dusk falls.
Light gone from the world.
The fire lives, only just.
Embers in the dusk.

Huddled together,
Keeping away cold.
We tend to the sparks,
Keeping them alive.

---

A nascant inferno bloomed in the ranks of the orks, a tiny spot in the horde of green. But it was merely the beginning, Ophelia calling upon yet more power, delving deeper into song.

---

A night of terrors,
The monsters beckon.
Great warriors set out,
The struggle we watch.

A clash of ages,
The titans at war.
Strife's song resounds loud,
The flames dance higher.

---

She conjured wolves and warrior from the flame and let them loose upon the orks, an army conjured of fire. More and yet more power she channeled, guided by the very melody she sang.

---

The singer calls fire,
She turns night to day.
The great green aflame,
She turns them away.

From embers in dusk,
An inferno burns.
Night gives way to day,
And the Sun rises.

---

Ophelia sang, and let loose her power upon the world.

do we know how well fortified the enemies landing base is? It's probably where they intend to conduct the ritual, so if it lacks void shields we might be able to simply destroy it from orbit if the enemy hasn't pulled the trigger before losing orbital supremacy.

and if not, decent class destroyers are to my understanding titan scale combatants, and I don't think holding the few dozen we have back from the fight would influence much in the void battle, but I suspect they would be quite useful for knocking out the enemies base camp in a hurry.

The Landing Base is covered in void shields and AA guns because it's an obvious target. Sorting out billions of people getting off landers is hard work.

hmm, I doubt they could set up void shields that could stand up to heavy bombardment very quickly, hopefully, we'll be able to string them along for a while after the bombardment starts.

I'm trying to work out how feasible rushing down that site would be. Since if they lose it they are not going to have anywhere they can conduct the ritual effectively*. They also have the bulk of their greater sorcerers there so simply killing them could wreck their chance at conducting it. I don't see the point of waiting for them to start the ritual when we suspect we know where they will conduct it from.

* they have just barely enough troops at the lonely citadel so they would not have anyone left for guard duty, and doing it inside of dis would just be asking for trouble, the only hard points they have are the crashed ships and we could probably either take those or take enough of our hive back to cut them off from the billion sacrifices they would need.

I think that for basically all of their constructed ground fortifications, orbital bombardment will be able to cause meaningful to significant damage to them, but not quickly.

About killing abomation psykers: one catchphrase for summoning the 1st is that they lose psykers to fast to finish it. Targeting the choirs to much can trigger it and it would be better to get rid of the ones in Dis first (fewer if mainly elites).

That's a given no matter what, they're within reach of our elite units.

  • [X] Plan Triple Zero
-[X] On the walls of District 000- Another major defensive location and one that buys you a lot of time. However it also lets most of a Chapter of Astartes get worryingly close to both your center of government and to Saint Lin. Note that the Abomination forces will start deploying Assassins here.
-[X] Let the Varangian Guard engage the Emperor's Talons- The two companies of the Varangian Guard on Avernus are eager to face their traitor kin, and due to the advanced weaponry that they are equipped with should be able to take on more then their number of Astartes, however you will have to assign several heroes to assist them in killing he Chaos Lords.
-[X] Lead the Governor's Own to engage the Emperor's Talons- The Governor's Own are the greatest soldiers of Avernus, and you are confident that you could take out the Emperor's Talons if you led them into battle. However this will require that you take your attention away from the main battle for a period.
-[X] Heroes: Rotbart (all black crystal items returned to him), Xavier, Jane, Aryz, Aria, Ridcully
-[X] Bloody Retreat- You could deploy large numbers of your better soldiers to the walls as they come under attack, forcing the enemy to suffer massive casualties as they take the walls which would probably take most of a day. -This would lead to the Abomination forces being slower to move into Dis.
    -[X] Psykers
--[X] Have the Diviner Choirs 1,2 and Tamia+Telepathy Choirs 1,2 locate assassins.
--[X] Have Pyromancy Choirs 1,2, Biomancer Choirs 1,2 and Telekinetic Choirs 1,2 supporting the forces fighting the Emperor's Talons.
--[X] Have Daemonologist Choir 1 work on general dispelling.
--[X] Have Daemonologist Choir 2 work on dispelling and counter-telepathy. Supported by Lulana.
--[X] Have Sirens working against assassins and Astartes
--[X] Have the Primaris Execution Force put on anti-assassin duty
-[X] Use electronic warfare against the enemy
    [X] Plan Early Stop
-[X] On the walls of District 145
-[X] Let the Varangian Guard engage the Emperor's Talons
-[X] Lead the Governor's Own to engage the Emperor's Talons
-[X] Deploy Battle Psykers to engage the Emperor's Talons
-[X] have Rotbart (plus Odysseus and Ajax with the Own), Xavier, Mittens, Aria, Jane, and Aryz engage the Emperor's Talons
-[X] Have the Phase Tigers, the veteran psyker infiltration regiment, and the trolls continue to pick off isolated Astares Squads. Have Xavier and Mittens assist as well until they reach their maximum sustainable effort level if the Talon push on the walls of district 145 ends before then.
-[X] with the exception of the Scry and Fry teams and those assigned to the Lord-hunt, choir assignment to continue as before at maximum sustainable effort (Support Troops/Fortifications: both Biomancer Choirs, 1st Telekinetic Choir, Troll Geomancers. Dispel/Counter-telepathy: Lulana & Both Daemonology Choir, Tamia & Both Telepathy Choirs. Banishing/hunting Daemons: Sirens. 2nd Diviner Choir: support Phase Tiger pickoff efforts.)
-[X] 1st and 2nd Pyromancy Choirs to use powers as needed for tactical support in either of the wall defenses at maximum sustainable effort.
-[X] 1st Diviner Choir to support defense against the Talons at maximum sustainable effort.
-[X] 2nd Telekinetic Choir to support outer wall defense/retreat at maximum sustainable effort.
-[X] Bloody Retreat- You could deploy large numbers of your better soldiers to the walls as they come under attack, forcing the enemy to suffer massive casualties as they take the walls which would probably take most of a day. -This would lead to the Abomination forces being slower to move into Dis.
-[X] Deploy Black Irons to counter the Angyls attacking the walls from the inside
-[X] target Electronic Warfare primarily against Abomination forces within the city.
    [X] Plan Symbolic Stop
-[X] On the walls of District 145
-[X] Let the Varangian Guard engage the Emperor's Talons
-[X] Lead the Governor's Own to engage the Emperor's Talons
-[X] have Rotbart (plus Odysseus and Ajax with the Own), Xavier, Mittens, Aria, Jane, and Aryz engage the Emperor's Talons

-[X] 2nd Telekinetic Choir to support outer wall defense/retreat at maximum sustainable effort.
-[X] Symbolic Defence- You could have your forces fight for a brief time to hold the wall before retreating, which would be considered a sign that you are abandoning the outer city. - This would encourage the enemy to move large forces into Dis.
-[X] Deploy Black Irons to counter the Angyls attacking the walls from the inside
-[X] target Electronic Warfare primarily against Abomination forces within the city.

whelp here's to hoping those eversore assassins don't get to Lin, otherwise bad shit happens!

or we just go on a CURSADE OF VENGENCE!!! on them...hopefully....maybe? if the damage from the wwwaaaggghhhh isn't to bad...

...that plan just seems flat overkill on assassins this turn. I mean, I count four choirs on it.

Oddly enough I'm kind hoping they blow most of their knockoff berserker this turn, just so we don't massively overspend there.

Enjou and me were both against it. (Well in the sense of using THAT many. 2 or 3 might've well been enough.)

I estimate a +200 bonus on hunting assassins, anyhow.

I feel like it's quite reasonable. The assassins are probably the second biggest threat to Lin after the First Circle. The enemy is basically never going to get their conventional forces close enough to kill him, not even their elites. So the only real threats to Lin are the First Circle and the assassins.

I actually think the six choirs supporting the fight against the Emperor's Talons are the overkill. I mean either the Vagarian Guard or the Governor's Own would have stood decent odds against the Talons it sounds like, so both should handle them pretty easily. Especially with the attrition they'll suffer taking the second wall in District 145.

So, I was catching up and three things gave me pause:

1. Farming Chaos for XP was considered as a genuine no-joke idea.
2. Dalv...
3. Phase Tigers didn't lose anyone. That's an acceptable standard, but they could get better and next time spawn new units during battle. Yes, that would finally increase their performance above average.

EDIT: And because the thread is slow and I didn't have anything better to do:

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR PHASE TIGER NUMBERS:
1. Take a number of Phase Tiger troops (not including Dalv for Emperor's sake!)
2. Send them into the caves.
3. ???
4. The troops walk out of the caves with some units in duplicates.
5. Repeat from step 1.
Bonus points if they walk out before you send any of them in.

If those are the caverns you are talking about, while I think delving would be achievable for them I doubt they'd get put scar free.

@Durin

1. Sorry if this was asked before but can we put Saint Lin on a plane to go to some other city?
2. Would he be able to go to the islands to hide out for a bit?

Why are so many people looking to waste more ships fighting in another relay. These is enough ships to take Attica Beta from us with both of our fleets there. Sending The raiding fleet off to get more damage is a bad idea.

Edit yes wrong thread

Not when there are 5 fifth circle archangyles 4 Sorcerer Lords ect.

Teleportation too is a no go, the First is just itching to intercept it.

Wrong quest mate :p

@Durin:
1) does Avernus still get the occasional tax dodgers?
2) has any other world begun to incorporate Avernite practices? Specifically the harsh authoritarian kind.
