I say, we attack the landers with all our airforce to slow their landing, but let the battleships crush and their plans proceed until the reinforcements arrive, then retake the orbit. Out of two desperate measures, capital crash is far better for us, and it would be much easier to deal with 1st circle with orbital control. Maybe attack the sorcerers meanwhile, if it will not provoke them into space summoning immediately.

@Durin
1. Do we think we could do enough damage to the ships to
1i. Render their weapon systems in operable
1ii. Destroy what ever technological teleports they have either through concetrated psyker targeting or otherwise.
2. If we destroy the tech teleports and kill enough their psykers will they be able to teleport appreciable numbers of troops through the ships?
3. Out of curiosity how powerful are demon possessed battleships/battlebarges in terms of...demonness... Yeah are the Demons in em equivalent to a Greater Demon of some kind?

1. With what?
1. Some not all
1ii. Probebly not
2. Yes

@Durin

1. How long will it take for our artillery to batter through their void shields?
2. How many deathstrikes would it take?
3. Would the success chance of the mission go up if we make it a suicide mission?
4. Would adding Jacob increase the chance of success of the mission?

The ones protecting their psykers. We've destroyed our own hives' void shields before with artillery so logically we can do the same to them. The only potential problem is that it might take too long.
KK, just checking you meant those ones rather than the Void Shields on the crashing ships.

That might take a bit longer.

1. Given that their Psykers are at a base out of range of your Basalisks forever
2. Five to ten thousand. I should remind you that they have a bunch of Psykers in reserve and if it looks like they are losing them to fast they will begin the summoning immediately
3. Yes,
4. Yes

1. I edited this one into a different post so I think you missed it: What level of demon is inhabiting the Possessed ships? Greater, a ton of lesser ones stuffed in em?

I'll admit my hope is that the Island turtle and Sun Beetles decide they don't like em, but what do I know.

ton of lesser daemon in most cases, Greater for the Battle Barges

@Durin

1. Can you give an approximate number of how many Last Hunters we'll lose if we make it a suicide mission?
2. How many deathstrikes are in a battery?
3. How long would it take to dig to right under where their psykers are?
4. Would it have been feasible to bury melta weapons under where their psykers would be (the location of which we would've found with divination) and then fire those weapons to incinerate the psykers?
5. Will the plague containment features of our hives allow us to freely deploy rad, chem, and bio weapons within them against enemy forces?
6. This is from a Ciaphas Cain novel:
[Talking about ork psykers doing stuff]

The Honorable Gianello Marcheisi (Navis Nobilitae observer): There is also a tendency for such abilities to be amplified by direct exposure to the warp, is that not so?

Inquisitor Singleton: Such is my understanding, yes. But such a course would be unthinkably dangerous. The use of psychic abilities in the warp, unshielded, would attract the attention of powers and entities of almost incalculable might and malevolence.
My question is this: since Ridcully's divinations cannot be detected, could we station him in the Warp and have him provide divination from there where his abilities will be amplified?

1. Dozens
2. 100
3. Weeks
4. No, they checked for traps
5. With no risk apart to anyone outside of the district it is deployed in
6. No, his divination can't be spotted but he can

@Durin
1. Is the Lonely Citadel cut off from the train network as well?
1a. Wich is the closet city/hive to Dis still connected?
2. A sally from the lonely Citadel into or through its siege line is just generally a bad idea?

@Durin

1. Given that this is Avernus, do we have pathogens that can hurt daemons?
2. Are Avernite pathogens capable of hurting Nurgle cultists and daemons? This sounds silly on the surface, but hear me out. Our immune system is cells that consume other cells, much like many kinds of diseases, but ultimately the immune system is inherently against disease, making it anti-Nurgle. Under this logic, I'm thinking there could be Avernite pathogens that are similar to white blood cells in this way and be anti-Nurgle.
3. Are Avernite pathogens capable of hurting Astartes or does their racial immunity to disease protect them?

Alright. New plan. The Orks lack a fleet. The Orks are slaughtering our ground army. The Orks are on a conventional planet.

We have cyclonic torpedoes...

@Durin

1. To clarify, the Abomination is not smashing the Battleships & Barges this turn, but the next, after their troops have landed?
2. Can we Divine where the battleships will crashlands, and then trap them, or otherwise not have troops, militia and elites there?
a. Can we N Steps Ahead on his?
3. Does Sarnow believe we can achieve acceptable exchange rates with harassment at the moment?
4. Can we Divine and preposition Last Hunters and/or other assets to attack their eventual summoning site in advance? (Or perhaps more accurately, an indeterminate quantum force, composition decided via N-Steps Ahead later.)
5. Do the Abomination plans actually not mention whether they should prioritize either the orbitals or the transports?
a. Are they STILL following their plan, or is it officially off the rails?
6. (Assuming the Abomination fleet has been eliminated) - Are there any issues with:
a. Applying planetary bombardment to the Ritual Site?
b. Smashing the Ritual Site with Battleships and/or similar ships?
c. Conducting an orbital insertion on the Ritual Site with Dropships or Assault Shuttles?
7. Re: Mar Sara
a. Do Syr's Survival traits and Martial score appreciably improve her survival chances?
ai. Do they influence the naval battle at all, just curious?
b. Wouldn't the Ork WAAAGH Field be weakening over time as the Orks got killed?

Yeah...no.

We need the planet.

And we have a lot of things and people on the planet.

When we control the orbits, we should be able to win just by virtue of being able to bombard them and shuffle down more troops.
