Doomed Wombat
Let's go Darling!

Well time to break the orks upon our walls.
Lets hope we've got enough bullets.

Armor erosion? Have attacks stack against armor diminishingly?Yes to an extent but the fact that it would take over a hundred cruisers to hurt a battleship is to much
Planning Session
"In the void, our target does not seem to have received significant reinforcements. While the fleet and orbital defenses are formidable, they should fall easily enough before the might of the Crusade Fleet," intoned the officer assigned to present the latest intelligence to Crusade Command.
Herrion nodded and turned to the Ecclesiarch communing with the Angyls maintaining the chambers wards. His constant checking may be irritating, but all agreed that it was best not to learn their protections had been breached after the intruder had heard everything.
"There have been attempts, but the wards remain intact and uncompromised. Unfortunately, we believe the intruder survived their blasphemous assault," came the response, unchanged in wording and intonation since the last time.
Herrion turned back to the officer delivering the briefing and gestured for him to continue. "On the surface, our reports are less certain. We can, however, confirm that the forces there have been reinforced by at least a company, and perhaps as much as three companies, of Traitor Astartes. There has also been an increase in the number of Knight Titans deployed there, though not enough to pose a threat to Legio Crucis. Our analysis in light of these factors is that we believe the Crusade to remain unknown to the Enemy. Their deployments appear to be more precautionary against a potential attack on the False Saint by regional forces only, due to reinforcements being pulled away by the Greenskin WAAAAAGH on the other side of the Chaos Domain."
The meeting paused again while the Lord General Militant again verified that the meeting was secure. After receiving a confirmation that could have been a recording of the previous ones, he dismissed the briefing officer and turned to address the rest of Crusade Command. "Our target is the False Saint. So long as that Heretic is slain, our mission is complete. I say this because the world he has chosen is a Death World, one that is so steeped in the Warp that it was halfway to becoming a Daemon World even before the Second Age of Strife. Attrition from the environment will be significant, especially in the first days, as we learn its many dangers..."

Governor Rotbart looked at Ridcully, who had just delivered the transcript of the salient parts of the Crusade's planning session. "They have no idea what they're in for, do they?" he mused, already thinking of ways he could exploit Herrion's seeming compulsion to keep checking his security. Just making it look like the Wards had been penetrated would likely cause the Lord General Militant to cancel the meeting and re-establish his defenses, which could fatally delay his responses. There were also some weaknesses in the deployment plans Herrion was making that Rotbart knew just how to exploit. And it looked like the projections for attrition due to wildlife to be hopelessly optimistic.
Last time I checked she was on a cruiser and in charge of a cruiser flotilla.
Iirc she was leading a cruiser Squadron. A lot of whom got wrecked. We can only hope that she wasn't with the harassment forces.
The cruiser in the light elements got wrecked the Heavey fleet and thier cruisers are somewhat ok.Iirc she was leading a cruiser Squadron. A lot of whom got wrecked. We can only hope that she wasn't with the harassment forces.

The Regimental Standard said:This is due to four reasons which we here at the Regimental Standard have summarised here for your convenience:
1) Our Troops are the Best
2) We have Faith!
3) We have the Technology
4) We have the Adeptus Astartes!
First of all. Don't panic.
Our discipline is our strongest asset. If any of you panic the great Star Father, holiest and mightiest, will take a personal vendetta against you and all your ancestors and never allow your soul to join him in his golden hall.
As you should know we are attacking the recently founded world of Averneus, to destroy the arch-heretic spewing false words in the name of our master.
We have been greatly aided by our allies across the segmentum. A vast fleet has arrived from Hydraphur. A billion slave-soldiers from the death corps of Kreig have been handed over to us, despite the ongoing rebel trouble the world is having. The entire emperor's talons chapter, glorious in their decendence from the mighty emperor himself, have elected to fight with us.
We shall crush the heretical scum.
Averneus, thrice damned place, is a deathworld of terror unmatched in the sector. Colonised briefly before the ascension, due to the horrific wildlife combined with missadministration half the colonists died.
The wildlife:
Spiders
The locals have developed a fear of spiders. This is not unfounded. The blink spider, so called because it runs so fast can kill if it's bites untreated. Other, slower moving creatures are even more lethal. Orders are to work towards killing any small animal on sight.
Beasts:
Monsters roam the lands of Averneus, from giant crocodiles, to twenty foot lizards, and massive herds of beasts. All of these creatures will be easy prey to sustained impaler fire, but are not to be underestimated. Rumours abound through the ranks of larger, and more terrifying beasts. Our infiltration has informed us that this is utter bunk and soldiers should not be afraid of being suddenly murdered by giant monsters. Attempts will be made to hunt the vast herds of beasts roaming the central plain to improve the rations of deployed troops.
The plants:
Information on Averneus' flora is limited, but expect to be clawed at and poisoned by almost everything. Carapace armour has been heavily issued to leading units in order to reduce it, and they have orders to clear a path for the following lighter troops. Information will be dispensed as it becomes available.
Xenos Scum
Not only have the cursed traitors embraced the arch-heretic, but they have also had the audacity to declare that Xenos are to be befriended. Rather than eradicating the local Xenos the weak and spineless Governor Frederick has been bent to their will, giving them human souls, which they then eat, in order to maintain peace. Other Xenos have also extracted tribute- the Quartok, a race the Imperium has crushed once before, forced him to take them in.
We shall attack all Xenos we encounter, give them no quarter and purge this world in his holy name.
The Heretics
The locals are weak and cowardly, hiding behind their high walls rather than taming their planet. Expect them to be well equipped, for the heretics beliefs extend to technology, and foul and hateful practices have been applied to the gear they use to make it more ferocious. They have become reliant on this however. Once we close to bayonet range, they will become easy fodder for our hardened soldiers.
Some of this is propaganda to stop the troops freaking out. The rumours have gotten a bit out of control.
Other things, they just don't know.
The purpose of this Crusade is to kill Saint Lin. Lin isn't on Cumea, so they don't really care, as the defenses there can't threaten them unless they allow themselves to be drawn into a fight in reach of those defenses. They don't intend to conquer or raze the system, just kill one person. Cumea's irrelevance to killing Lin has been known to them for years, so it just isn't mentioned anymore. They do have plans in storage for invading Cumea if Lin moved there, but there isn't much that they would need to account for and update in them if we were dumb enough to actually do it.@RogueInquisitor - I think the plans should include discussion about Cumea (something along lines of "Cumea planetary system boast significant Dark Mechanicus presence upon it's moons and sizeable shipyards, however heavy orbital defences makes any attack on it too costly for what is a secondary objective. It may serve as a fallback point for remains of the Heretic fleet once we beat them back, but as long as we archieve orbital superiority over Avernus to launch asault against Arch-Heretic they will be of no consequence.")
Opinion poll on where we should put Lin
Dis: Our toughest city, has the most troops in it, in the mountains so we have Troll support and unless they take one of the support cities in the Spine, unlikely to fall even with a battleship suicide.
Azyre Isles: Practically impossible to land there, most Siren support tough defences.
I'd say the Gubernatorial Palace. It's at the best human-protected place on Avernus.Opinion poll on where we should put Lin

Guess we need to alter fleet composition for it, more superlances to keep a range advantage, more ragnarok cannons for hulk killing and additional anti escort vessels. So, the orks are trading better than even in the cruiser weight category, their escorts are stupidly tough, ours are akin to wet paper, and now heavy armour won't work?
Fantastic.
