Having just got done with my first Martial Arts class and reading the Karnak solo series go read it it's awesome. It made me think of how Martial Artists condition their bodies to perform amazing and extraordinary acts in the real world and thought about this in 40k. Particularly Martial Arts on Avernus which would be made to fight the monstrous Wildlife and Orks plus the occasion Warp beast considering how many Chaos Psykers we get. Now as you can imagine even for Avernites that would be bullshit and insane to even consider. Making a unarmed Martial Art for humans to fight monstrous enemies is ridiculous. But this is 40k which runs on Rule of Cool and if you believe in it hard enough the Warp will make it true.
So I began to think how could this work and I thought to myself well first Avernites are already the peak of humanity's physique and have a expanded view on what is possible to achieve in combat. So bear with me what if you had Avernite martial Artists who believed with all their heart and soul that by endlessly training and practicing their martial arts they could condition and forge their body into living weapons able to kill any threat with their bare hands.

You would have to devote and dedicate yourself solely to mastering unarmed martial arts and the training to do so would be mad by even Avernite standards. With how close the Warp is to real space on Avernus the idea that if you dedicate your entire life to being a grandmaster of unarmed combat that you could beat or grapple say a Ork or Phase Tiger to death with your bare hands becomes more plausible. The catch is a fanatical focus on unarmed or melee combat and an incredible faith in your fighting arts. Now you're probably wondering what all this rambling is about and that's the idea of Omakes of these extreme Avernite martial art dojos and the crazy things they do. Being considered mad by even Avernite standards as they spar and grapple with the Wildlife and practice hellish training even the Governor's Own think is too much.
Another type of Avernite Avernite who have a code of honour on only using their own body as a weapon. Over the top and impractical yes but very much the epitome of Rule of Cool. Think Kegan Asura, the Breaker or Baki the Grappler.
There's no Ki or Qi just raw physical power and a lot of Rule of Cool Warp bullhsit allowiong them to do these things. Fighters not really useful for our army but fun to write about as part of the planets background culture. I think it's a fun idea at least if a bit stupid. There is a precedent with Imperial Death Cults managing to gain superhuman skill through sheer brutal and hellish training in canon.

And awesome Omake @Alex pears ;)

to connect to all his squad mates through Muspelheim communication devices
I think you're going to have to change this since those devices cost Relic Material which the VanGuard would rather use for terminator armor. Also light second communicators are overkill for the type of range Astartes usually fight on.

You mean spread out potentially over an entire planet and needing second by second updates on the vitals of every squad member.

He also would have got the suit before the terminator armour was even bought from the Blood Dragons (remember he's one of the first aspirants) so they'd have been willing to use a little cash. The Svart were also showing off is my logic... and one device probably isn't too expensive?

I wonder if that pacification bird works on blink spiders. Might be worth to try and breed species that will stop the spiders from biting.

Scary commissar is scary. Glad he's on our side.

Okay that just happened, I just rolled 4 90+s in a row in the interlude

"And so, Ridcully stabbed both Gork and Mork in their sleep with the Black Crystal Sword, displaying both brutal cunning and cunning brutality, and both were left paralyzed and unable to reach their heaps of scrap to make prosthetics when they woke up."

Maybe we could setup some omake's to increase the chances of this crusade fleet losing ships to the warp in transit? What with the new round of expected a warp storms coinciding with the Ork gods awakening?

@Durin
Up thread there was some discussion of the Phase Tigers being able to draw replacements from a special whiteshield regiment made up of their kids and those kids that show an extraordinary aptitude for stealth.
1. Is that possible or no?
2. If so, do we need to set that up as a Grenadier regiment, or is it another option?

3. Is trying to delay or attrit the incoming crusade with warp storm omake's worthwhile?

4. Do the Mechanicus think they can expand to keep up with local (AM/EM)materiel demands without resorting to further reforms?

5. We have the only sample the Imperium ever got of a Standard Template Constructor under the microscope, would analyzing it(possibly in comparison to the MOS STC) to figure out how it would have worked and trying to build a knockoff be acceptable to the Mechanicus?(though I understand it may be too difficult for us for quite some time)

6. In some fan-fiction continuities the Standard Template Constructor is capable of researching local variations on Templates to fit the environment, and even innovating new templates to fill holes and local needs.(Though I imagine a research team and/or MOS would be more effective, especially for paradigm shifting tech) Where does your quest's cannon come down on it's ability in this regard?(or rephrased, what does Musphelheim say on the subject?)

7. What do current Admech tech preservation protocols look like? We're a small polity and losing stuff in a Trust-wide invasion or civil war is a serious risk.
What I'm hoping for is a vault in every fortified position in the Trust with significant Admech presence, and some fortified areas without that, but with a couple of Admech guards specifically to keep the vault safe, each containing a copy of our useful technical knowledge, and maybe a couple of time capsule vaults they paid to setup in the nearly impossible to scry, Incredibly challenging to travel through sections of Avernus.(Under dis? Underwater near the coast?)

8. If tech preservation protocols don't look like the above, or better, how can we fix that?

9. I had an idea I want to ask about:
Can we use the heads up displays or the indirect perception of the vehicular sealed video cockpits to break up or block out (visual or auditory)perception of memetic hazards, then highlight their position well enough to attack them unimpaired, as a means of reducing the mental load involved in resisting Chaos corruption while fighting Chaos?
(interrupting, pixelating, blurring, or blacking out a basilisk hack is nearly as good a way of screwing them up as distance and not being exposed, though the involvement of the Warp as the primary carrier of the information in the hack would make this defense incomplete.)

I am going to present a idea that is bad. It is bad because it chases the shiny.

I think we should let them invade and leak that Saint Lin in on Avernus. Than also leak to the Blood Dragons that we are sending the fleet away to attack the ork. These will eventually get leaked to Valinor and than we ambush the fleet when they arrive. Because I am thinking these crusade fleet will be tens of thousands of ships. Maybe some battle barges we can reclaim and some capital ships we can also repurpose for our own needs. That is the first shiny.

The second shiny is that we can get millions of chaos cultist on Avernus. So we can sell their souls for the shiny runes.

Now these is a terrible idea but the greedy bastard in me cannot stop thinking about it.

Please stop thinking it :p

Both of these are redundant the capital ships are chaos corrupted and the cultists... eh we'll get them eventually.

Well see the thing is depending on how corrupt the ships are we can purify them. I know bad idea but we have a saint and whole lot of psykers. Also shiny.

As for the runes I am a American and I want them now!!! That waiting shit is for foreigners who do not live in countries with 24 hour stores. These is a joke.

But to change the subject Rudicully just made a hell of turn. He gets 110 with traits and control before other bonus like the jewelry and the bonus for Criting the roll. So yeah Great critical success alll around.

Most Post-Imperial Abomination ships look and act like Imperial warships, with really coordinated crews, and Abomination symbolism everywhere, It might be possible to purify the ones that aren't especially Warpy.

Edit: but our current ships are so much better that it might not be worth the cost.

So basically corrupted to the core and beyond.

There is also no easy human way to remove chaos corruption Lin's exorcism isn't very long ranged and it's very draining.

And yeah mostly useless to us.

Ridcully is really good at divining the present(he's not a slouch about the past and future but he specializes in the present), we could try divining out how to carve and empower one of the runes.
Possibly using a link between Ridcully and that Alpha who specializes in crafting and warding?
At least now that we have two data-points in the carving process for other runes to find commonalities between them it might be possible.
I would prefer to grab a scattering of runes from all over the trade tables to have more data-points first.
I would also like to have bought their warding rune first, and studied how it works, so Ridcully doesn't run into a trap.
Edit: and give him the BCJ.
Edit PPS: and start the stealing by stealing a rune, then buying it and checking them against each other.
Edit PPPS: we should look into selling them Myecynid medicines.

There is a traditional response to this, one developed to defeat the Eldar: cover as much space as humanly possible with the maximum amount of munitions possible. It doesn't matter how good at dodging or hiding you if there are shells and las literally everywhere. It's because of this that Orks are surprisingly good at fighting Eldar.

Problem with this is the fact that against someone with paragon levels in both combat and stealth he'd probably be long gone by the time anyone realized where he had been after he did whatever he planned on doing and that's if their lucky.

Christ basically Tzeentch's crew is basically going about things with a business as usual mindset and Valinor is basically trying to do it's best impression of a Skaven Warlord. I hope we communicate our findings to the Blood Dragons about the 3 day period and stress that it will happen on one of these three days and to finish up any last minuite details for the Ork Awakening.

Maybe once this Ork shenangan is done we can join up with the Blood Dragons to smash Valinor to bits. Maybe we can put out a beacon for the Orks to come to Valinor...
