Earlier it was suggested we make a Avernite assault squad unit type and considering how much Glorious Melee combat is a part of 40k warfare that might actually be a pretty useful thing to have.

We already did that with the unit champions.

I think the intention was to expand on that idea.
Why? We already have a close combat champion who can fight better than regular troops. Orks already attack the champion thinking they are the leader. Orks are the only ones in our immediate future who we will be fighting in close combat. Minus Avernus but that is Avernus so expects to be attacked by everything.
We have firepower that is dangerous enough at range. Gravity weapons, stable plasma weapons, neutron lasers, and vortex weapons. We literally have some of the best range weapons not counting old one weapons.

@Durin, while I was working on the omake that included the Abundant Lethal Plants, I was hit with inspiration and am now working on a different polity. My question is this: is Death World still -2 when the type is Daemons and it's Warptouched? (Not a daemon world, just has lots of daemons.)

Hmm ok if the ork gods wake up in 30 years (let's hope) that will give us 10 years to attack the ork assorted worlds and cause as much damage in the Turozk realm as possibles.
Next turn we need to take spying on the ork gods and hopefully the risk to Ridicule is mitigated. He is literally the most important Pysker we have. Sorry Xavier but you cannot tell us the future. So Ridicule actions should look like military, spy on gods, military, inflame civil war, cheat on titans. Maybe

TBF it's relevant. You originally said pruning Orks is going to be cakewalk now, but that's not true unless you mean cakewalk through shooting range on a crocodile farm.
That's not true, I think. They are few and there are as many ranged champions as there are melee ones.
