  • For the first: If the Eldar did indeed kill the Old Ones they could say: So what if they made us and had arts that we did not. We broke them. For the Dark Eldar and some Craftsworlders that would be enough to salve their pride.

That was two different things. I was talking about if the Eldar did kill the old ones (I personally think they didn't mostly because there is nothing in universe to suggest they did, hell there's little to suggest they even knew the Old One's constructed their entire civilisation.)

But my theory doesn't include that idea it goes off the basis that the the War in heaven ended as close as we know to what we have been told (Old Ones nommed, C'tan shattered, Crons punched in the dick, sleep=the end)

  1. For the second: It's clear the breaking of the C'tan was not without cost for the Necron. The Silent King did not order his people to sleep without reason. He feared the eldar, perhaps only for the weapons they had inherited from the Old Ones but he feared them nonetheless.

Even their "victory" in the war in heaven happened because the Crons turned on the C'tan who slaughtered trillions of them before being defeated and then decided to go to bed so hard the Eldar either couldn't or were too lazy to finish the job even at their empire's height.
I did make note of that.

The Silent King did go to sleep because the Cron's were damaged, but by that point in the war the C'tan were basically winning it for the Crons and even then if the C'tan were gone, but the Crons were at full power they would have most likely steamed rolled the Eldar.

As it stands the Crons feeling the need to just sleep it off and the eldar "victory" isn't as a result of their own actions its the result of the pure hatred of the silent king + his patience running out/fear that if he waited the C'tan would grow to strong for his weapons to shatter.

To what is The unborn.
Shrug

We dunno, this is all we have to go on
U is for unborn, the eggs most infernal,
That we must hope will just gestate eternal.
There's also the premature which is apparently in the top 3 Great One's of Avernus and might be related to the Unborn.

At this point your guess is as good as mine.

To what is The unborn.
My guess is that it 'anti-life' warp form, or if truly is a weapon that can kill the chaos gods is a concept or idea of 'anti-life'. Since the old one can create life and even control the warp like no one else, why not try to create a anti-warp (and because of that anti-idea, live, feelings etc).
P.S:I believe that someone else already had this guess, but if so, sorry then.

The ant-warp is the soulless, the the Necron and the C'tan, their great enemies.

Some people think that Old Ones were divine beings, but I think that on individual level most of them weren't much more powerful than Eldar or Orks etc. We know that Enslavers were a threat to them. Well, some of them probably were, like the Hrud god, but that's like judging about Eldar and humans by Phoenix Lords and Emperor with Primarchs.
My personal theory is that while all Old Ones were extremely powerfull there was wery few of them (when you're biologically immortal and strongest thing around there aren't much need to breed). That's why Enslaver Plague only happened when they created other, much more numerous psyker races. And I always assumed Enslaver were threat to them in a same way blood-sucking gnats are threat to humans - irrelevant as a threat in one vs. one situation, but can kill when its millions vs. one, especially if one is unprepared.

But wouldn't that make it the ultimate achievement of the Old Ones creating something with the living paradox of being souless and having a soul at the same time:D.

Besides Avernus seems to be focused a great deal on anti chaos stuff so who the hell knows, we still don't know why humanity can have perpetuals and blanks naturally occurring in its species as well as artificially.

Given our only potential surviving old one (Qah) survived being swatted by the glutted Slaanesh coming down from its post birth high (similar to how the Abomination was the most powerful post its birth) and still being incredibly powerful even as shards its certainly a viable theory.

the exact nature of the unborn doesn't really matter. We know it's on the scale of the weapons the crons don't dare use in the galaxy anymore, and are either so energy intensive it has taken this long to charge up, or so horrifying that the old ones didn't use it even as they were dying. If one wakes up, were going to be at ground zero of a galactic scale WMD launch, and if they didn't use them I'm guessing they are not the selective kind of WMD.

However, poking it has to high a risk of getting us obliterated by the planet mind, and if it wakes up we likely won't be able to do much about it. So all we can do is ignore them and pray really hard that they don't hatch. maybe when the emperor returns he can look into it, but if he asks us for our opinion on dong so I'd advise him not to risk it.

Again hard to tell.

We know so little that its hard to tell when or what they are. If they're a left over from the war in heaven or not. Something made in the immediate aftermath or close to the end as the Warp began to emerge.

Still to give an idea of the weapons the crons used, they obliterated reality at its most fundamental.

Literally they shattered the universe itself, because that's what the C'tan are, fundamental aspects of the universe like Death.

Its ironic. In a way I guess the Necrons got what they wanted. They shattered and subjugated death itself.

Here are my top three tinfoil theories on the Unborn-

1-
They are half baked weapons of the Old Ones that were never completed but still plenty strong to fuck up the galaxy. It could be a fuck you weapon of last resort too.

2- They are just empty shells or incubators for creating powerful warp creatures. Probably were used to create the gods of the subservient races like Krorks and Eldar. If Gork and Mork are waking up, maybe they will want to pay us a visit for old times sake....

And now to my most outrageous theory yet...

3-
These incubators were lying idle for millennia ....... until the humans arrived. Now they have a new purpose - to create the God Emperor of Mankind. It is awfully convenient that a Grey Knight who carries the Emperor's own genome in his gene seed has gone missing.

I am onto you @Durin *snorts cocaine* I am onto you. :p

Hahaha.

Yeah my own theory is that they were intended to be a new generation of super Old Ones, but they weren't able to finish them so they've just been gestating.

Maybe humans are the last component... probably not, but maybe they could predict that far a head Okiran could and he doesn't even use the warp. We and the Tau (though more us, the Tau have no psykers) are ironically the most like the Old Ones in the galaxy.

Chaos cannot be cleansed. Its as simple as that it is impossible to cleanse once a being has been started down that path those of incredibly strong mind can resist like Ahriman, but it cannot be cleansed.
In Rogue Trader terms, this is only the case once you reach Corruption 100. Once you reach it you are officially a servant of the Ruinous Powers and you are irrevocably damned, at which point you put away Rogue Trader and pick up Black Crusade. Below that point, lowering Corruption is possible, it's just that doing so ranges from difficult to very difficult. From memory, ways to reduce it include regularly participating in mass, visiting and praying at important places of the Imperial Creed (such as the tombs of saints or reliquaries), doing exceptionally noble and righteous deeds, and self-flagellation.

We are talking about cultists here.

Everyone who regularly sees or fights demons and powerful chaos-psykers and lives on a world close to the warp would have some corruption points by the RT system.
Cultists are the guys who actually throw in their lot with the Dark Gods, not just those that are tainted for some reason and can either live on or are executed if its too much.

True though so far I've seen no indicator that this is a thing here (for instance even those who think they've been exposed will kill themseleves as theirs nothing that can be done)

That being said the explanation for that should be quite simple the emperor is dead and all "simple" methods for purging corruption went with him and as you put it yourself the simplist ways of removing corruption were to be around holy relics, mass, praying at important place to the creed and self flagellation.

All of this would have become useless once he died.

Its also not very easy to apply rogue trader ect. in universe are corruption points are not a thing ect ect., but you know that.

@Durin
1. Do the BD have the ability to construct titans? I'm sure you would have mentioned if they did and the Dark mech probably killed all those on Atlas that knew, but it always helps to check.
2. Will there be an option to look into the Luna ruins? They've just kinda been sitting there for a while and I'd like to look into them (and probably the admech too) before the Orks come and potentially trash the moons in the conflict. Sorry to bring it up, but they're big and sitting there and I'd like to not loose what's in there. Be a bit nostalgic for Tranth too :)
3. Has Yggra'nya the World maker (C'tan responsible for World Engines) made an appearance since the astral knights released its shards?
4. Has Julius mentioned him, apparently his shard helped the Astral Knights when they destroyed their world engine so did one appear again?

I will say that while it is possible to resist corruption and purge yourself of minor taint anything more then that is impossible now that the Emperor is dead

Was the Emperor the only power that could aid in such an endeavor or just the only one we are likely to have access to? From what our inquisitor patron knows, I mean.
My guess would be that contact with chaos changes a person's psycic frequency, which as we know is really hard to change unless you have a Daemon/God. Minor changes can be done through ritual, but again minor.

There ain't any friendly gods around for us.

Methinks this is the in universe explanation.

If we manage to get destructive frequencies figured out for chaos taint we could probably (/maybe?) cleanse people in a Lin-independent manner. Of course, that does require psykers spending an awful lot of time poking around Chaos shit...

Does anyone have any issues or proposals to bring up? How about a joint commission of various heads of military to share tips on defensive urban planning? Or an Imperial Trust Naval Officer Academy for better naval cooperation in the future? IIRC we only built one for Guard officers.

I would like to ask the Inquisition about getting ready to help defend the Trust and it's new worlds from subterfuge from outside powers. Do they need immediate assistance like a cash infusion or some other resource?

I've wanted to propose a school structural engineers of the trust.

Like Svart experts build the best defences, but they presumably take longer + are more expensive, Avernites build them fastest, Midgard maybe the most economical.

5. Would a Trust college or whatever to train dedicated work crews for building defences + combining the expertise of different worlds (Avernites build fastest Svart builds best, Van builds best orbitals ect) is that practical?

6.

To clarify is this 12 hours or 24, cause that mix up happened once. Wasn't a big deal, it'd just be useful for figuring out how fast we need to be?

I'm not so sure. if your frequency is changed to match that of chaos, then it's not a part of you that has changed, it's your entire soul that's been shifted. destructive frequencies at that point would just unravel the afflicted soul. still useful though, a weapon that kills only cultists would be all sorts of fantastic.

I think he's thinking of those who have only been corrupted a little.

Think RPG corruption points.

A weapon that only affects cultists/anything on a specific psycic wave length would be awesome, but I get the feeling it's probably going to be hard if not impossible to make.
