I smell the smell of burning orks.good Omake, and that would be one way of dealing with those Roks that land
1. Ridcully can use biomancy I believe, though obviously not his speciality, and so what's his predicted life span?2. if control is sufficent yes, psykers with more power then control can actually be expected to have shorter lifespan then normal humans
1. with rejuve you will not be surprised if he lives to 1,000I smell the smell of burning orks.
1. Ridcully can use biomancy I believe so what's his predicted life span?
2. Is the telekinetic choire strong enough to move roks angles, not move the rok itself, just change the angle at which it is falling
3. Can pyromancers enhance heat within the roks?
4. How accurately can Ridcully scan Garkill from this distance? I see no reason he would not be able to at this distance with his Paragon trait?
5. We have tested the LEF missiles outside of the Everglades right?
6. And as we should have does the LEF die? Cause it'd be bad to introduce it into adria... probably would die due to being a fungus, but just checking.
1. Is he and his guard wearing sealed armor?4. very, that is one of the reasons you have as much information about this attack as you do
1. yes1. Is he and his guard wearing sealed armor?
2. How big is his guard?
3. Even if he is in sealed armor do we think we can pull back our people from around his crash site and hit him with a LEF missile to either clear out the path to him and get rid of the canon fodder, or maybe even injure/kill him?
4. Have we studied how the fungus was eliminated or does it just happen?
1. How many? I think we have only 50? 100? Something like that?3. he is aiming for a location out of your city, hitting him with the LEF missiles would probebly kill some of his gaurd and injure him
you ahve 2001. How many? I think we have only 50? 100? Something like that?
Never mind then.
This result?hitting him with the LEF missiles would probebly kill some of his gaurd and injure him
3. he is aiming for a location out of your city, hitting him with the LEF missiles would probebly kill some of his gaurd and injure him
1. that was 100Never mind then.
1. How many missiles would it take to get
This result?
I saw the plural.
yes, though it will take quite a few hits to crack open his Mega GargentWould using regular Deathstrikes and then following up with LEF missiles be an effective tactic? I imagine Garkill would be riding in his big Mega Gargant, and cracking it open with regular stuff to allow in the LEF might enhance the effectiveness of the latter.
yes but it would take a lot of hits to have an effect, they would be more useful saving them for the mass of Gargents you will soon be gettingSo I have a question can we use the death strike missiles on the incoming rocks?
So to hurt him and kill a portion of his guard we'd need to use half of our LEF missiles.
Who cares its a mega gargant we need to crack that anyway.yes, though it will take quite a few hits to crack open his Mega Gargent
1. Are they on the Roks or is he teleporting em down?yes but it would take a lot of hits to have an effect, they would be more useful saving them for the mass of Gargents you will soon be getting
these could workso random rok busting omake idea spitballing, ie would any of these actually work/ I'm too lazy to use more than 1 or 2 of thease.
psyker omakes
a choir using foresight guided sapping to use entropic field to drop one of the roks into a massive sinkhole,
telekinetic move a random unexploded mine into the path of a descending rok deflecting it,
demonologist choir creates a large portal for a second in it's path and core it out via telfraging
pyrokinetic is used to touch off the fulei in a random engine, either sending the rock off course during the decent, or causing an alrday landed rock to go tumbling over the landscape.
non pskyer omakes
macro cannon crew messes with gun settings, trading power for rate of fire to cover a predicted landing site in unexploded shells, giggle.
brave/suicidal pilots fly drop ship under the void shield of a descending rok, use charges to divert it's corse. either via stealing deathstrike warhead from a factory, or setting off secondary explosions.
use of servo skull carried paper targets to induce bombardment cacti fire against roks.
tech prist madly scrambles to jury rig a stupidly powerful magnetic field generator to pull a descending rok of course, gets it into position by either firing it out of an equally hastily modified macro shell, or using a cargo flyer. may have to manually operate the device, fully excepting not to survive.
massive cargo hauler filed it's hold with explosives, and with strategically reinforced hull is turned into a crude shaped charge to knock a rock of course.
1. probably a mix of bothSo to hurt him and kill a portion of his guard we'd need to use half of our LEF missiles.
Yikes.
Who cares its a mega gargant we need to crack that anyway.
1. Are they on the Roks or is he teleporting em down?
2. With tactical genius and other things can we get Fred's opinion on what the best uses of our choires would be, obviously Biomancers are kinda useless and Illusionists and daemonologists are redundant until the orks are off the roks, but Pyro, diviners, telekinetics are still viable?
Unfortunately the entropic field works on metal only I think and can't be used long distance.a choir using foresight guided sapping to use entropic field to drop one of the roks into a massive sinkhole,
Already asked and unless we can get a split second portal we'd have a daemon incursion coming out the other end.demonologist choir creates a large portal for a second in it's path and core it out via telfraging
pyrokinetic is used to touch off the fulei in a random engine, either sending the rock off course during the decent, or causing an alrday landed rock to go tumbling over the landscape.
Suicide and no ones dumb enough to steal a death strike charge.brave/suicidal pilots fly drop ship under the void shield of a descending rok, use charges to divert it's corse. either via stealing deathstrike warhead from a factory, or setting off secondary explosions.
Already asked none big enough in the area.use of servo skull carried paper targets to induce bombardment cacti fire against roks.
Funny, but impractical.tech prist madly scrambles to jury rig a stupidly powerful magnetic field generator to pull a descending rok of course, gets it into position by either firing it out of an equally hastily modified macro shell, or using a cargo flyer. may have to manually operate the device, fully excepting not to survive.
1. Xavier is even stronger when linked to a choir thanks to destruction incarnate how hard would it be to just make a rok go boom?pyrokinetic is used to touch off the fulei in a random engine, either sending the rock off course during the decent, or causing an alrday landed rock to go tumbling over the landscape.
2. These are melta shells right? Could they serve as impromptu mines?macro cannon crew messes with gun settings, trading power for rate of fire to cover a predicted landing site in unexploded shells, giggle.
6. How many would be needed to get this effect assuming we don't need to worry about explosives?massive cargo hauler filed it's hold with explosives, and with strategically reinforced hull is turned into a crude shaped charge to knock a rock of course.
10. Are there any particular clusters of weird boyz that Ridcully can see or is Garkill spreading them out?2. that is why I am answering questions, to begin with I should make it clear that dealing with the wierdboyz is 1st priority and that deflecting or taking down the incoming Roks is 2nd. compared to those 2 everything else is unimportant
Why choose, do both.cool, thanks. now the age old question, noble and somber sacrifice, or zany antics. decisions decisions.
While this was happening the Demonology Choir in Iota Five teleported a large number of your psykers and Aesir to locations that they would be more useful in, at the cost of ten Maniples of Aesir.
In general your cities Macrocannons proved to be up for the task of wiping out the Gargents before they reached engagement range, with Garkill obviously not having expected the doubling of your Macrocanon numbers and the major upgrades to their effectiveness that your technology finds have allowed.
As the Orks approached Beirut your Basalisks opened fire on them with several hundred thousand guns proving sufficient to inflict major damage to the approaching horde, though not nearly enough to halt them. When they reached engagement range a score of Ros started descending towards it, twelve aimed at the city and the remaining eight forming a semicircle around the west wall. Eight of the dozen Roks aimed at the city were deflected by the orbital defences, landing in the area surrounding the city while the remaining four landed in the outer ring of the city, just inside the defences. These Roks killed several million of your militia when they landed, and immediately started unleashing both the millions of Orks contained within them and their pwoerfuk short range gunz. Between these Roks within the city and the sixteen around the city your defences will be stretched dealing with the Orks alone, without taking into account the hundreds of millions of Orks bearing down on the city.
As the first of the Ork Hordes starts to approach Salem a hundred and ten Roks separate from the orbiting fleet in order to approach it. While you estimate that no more then thirty can actually make landfall on the city itself the other Roks will provide enough firepower to breach its defences. To make matters worse according to High Grandmaster Ridcully fifty of the Roks contain Garkill the Konqueror and his personal force, including both his personal Nobs and almost two thousand Gargents as well as a million Weirdboyz who will be used in a Grand Ritual aimed at the walls of Salem. You will have enough tome to move ten million soldiers into or out of Salem before the Ork teams cut the underground railways, after which you will be forced to rely on air traffic which the Ork army will be able to threaten with its AA.
Possibly, however, Brieut doesn't have access to psykers or potentially Ridcully.
Also can someone figure out how big Brieut is?
So basic choice is to either try to pull out of the city, yielding ground to preserve our forces. Or put as many elites as possible into it and slug it out.
If we fight we're bussing in the Witch Hunters, Psyker Hunter and Jane so we maybe able to do some damage that way with one hundred thousand + psyker killers and in an emergency I got the idea of having Tamia project effectively a very high pitched psycic scream, annoying to a human, but dangerous to Weird Boyz who are so unstable.
If Garkill is likely to look to fight us, then we should encourage it. If we deploy ourselves to the front with the governor's own we could have a huge impact on the fight, and if we bring Gerald/Surt/Jane/Horatius with us, it'll give us an actual combat hero to kill him with. Horatius would be murderous against almost any single combatant, but the other three could tag team with Fred, and we can 2v1 the Konquerer, which might be the best option for our stats.
Guys, I was just rereading city details for Beruit and it's built on the largest daot ruins in Averneus. Letting it fall might not be the wisest course of action, as the mechanicus would be mighty pissed if the greenskins defile this sacred place.
Might it be worth sending more troops to the city and trying to contest it until we can kill Garkill.
1. not that hard, he would ahve a greater effect blowing the engines of several Roks howeverUnfortunately the entropic field works on metal only I think and can't be used long distance.
Funny though.
Already asked and unless we can get a split second portal we'd have a daemon incursion coming out the other end.
Good idea.
Suicide and no ones dumb enough to steal a death strike charge.
Does have a "HELLO BOYS" vibe to it though.
Already asked none big enough in the area.
Funny, but impractical.
1. Xavier is even stronger when linked to a choir thanks to destruction incarnate how hard would it be to just make a rok go boom?
2. These are melta shells right? Could they serve as impromptu mines?
3. Instead of turning off a Macro canon could we instead haul shells all around in the time we have instead?
4. How much time do we have until impact?
5. If we decide to do so could we have diviners help with the placement?
6. How many would be needed to get this effect assuming we don't need to worry about explosives?
7. They don't need a piolet do they?
8. Will the roks have a fighta boma screen? Wait what am I saying of course they will, but need to check.
9. How many of these could we afford to send before we hurt our ability to move people?
10. Are there any particular clusters of weird boyz that Ridcully can see or is Garkill spreading them out?
11. Do we have any waste plasma reactors lying around?
Why choose, do both.
Looking on the bright side, those losses may not be permanent. For all we know we now have a cadre of Knights fighting their way out of Avernus' Underworld, slated to emerge as hero units after the Invasion.Hmm... I was not aware that there was this level of risk in moving units using the daemonology choir. That would have changed my plans. 10% losses is rather high.
1. yes and will be for a few more hours at the leastHmm... I was not aware that there was this level of risk in moving units using the daemonology choir. That would have changed my plans. 10% losses is rather high.
Well... I was not expecting that. That's a nice surprise.
Might have distributed Aesir a bit differently if I had expected that, but okay.
Hmm... the Roks are more effective than I had hoped. We ought to send more forces into Beirut.
Well... the good news is we succeeded in our main objective.
The bad news is we succeeded in our main objective.
@Durin
1: Are the railways to Beirut still open?
2: 10 million soldiers is a bit hard to translate into needed unit. How many regiments can we move into Salem in the time remaining to us? Do Heavy units and Aesir take up more space? If so how much more space?
3: How many deathstrike batteries are left? From my reading of the battle report we have not launched that plan strike against the Elysium 1 army, nor the second wave against the Aridia 1 army, is that correct? My rough count is 96.93 deathstrike batteries, is that right? I'm assuming that if we have not taken those actions yet, we can give them different targets now based on the new information.
4: Has the railway to Elysium been cut? Or can we still move forces back from Malea? (Asking because even if they are too far away to reach Salem, it would be useful to move some more to Casarrondo, allowing the reserve in DIs to be deployed to Salem).
Actually Grandmaster Aria, a daemonology choir, and a large assortment of psyker teams is located in Beirut.
Along with Jane and her psyker hunters.
Beirut is a major city.
Note that we cannot evacuate the citizens, nor can we evacuate the majority of our forces. We are pretty much already committed to fighting at Salem.
Question... why would Jane be better at fighting the wierdboyz than others? Also, Jane is already committed to the Beirut battle, so I think it would be a mistake to try and pull her out of that.
Note that Surt has already been deployed to Salem in preparation for Garkill appearing there.
I'm guessing that they are included among the "Heavy" regiments in which case 40% are located in Salem.
Why do people talk as if letting one of our cities fall to the Orks is no big deal? And why do people talk as if it is assumed we are going to lose one?
with a good Omake yesLooking on the bright side, those losses may not be permanent. For all we know we now have a cadre of Knights fighting their way out of Avernus' Underworld, slated to emerge as hero units after the Invasion.
@Durin could this happen or would we need a good omake to prompt a roll?
Because she gets a +50 bonus to fighting psykers, and while Weird Boyz are not human they are still psykers and thus she can do much more good in a target rich environment stopping a massive ritual than in Beirut.Question... why would Jane be better at fighting the wierdboyz than others? Also, Jane is already committed to the Beirut battle, so I think it would be a mistake to try and pull her out of that.
1. Could he interface with diviners to find the best targets for engine blowing and get them to move in the most destructive way against other orks?1. not that hard, he would ahve a greater effect blowing the engines of several Roks however
Battle for the ages there.Note that Surt has already been deployed to Salem in preparation for Garkill appearing there.
The first is probably because its assumed we can easily rebuild them and yeah we can, but the loss of population and time makes me not want to do it.Why do people talk as if letting one of our cities fall to the Orks is no big deal? And why do people talk as if it is assumed we are going to lose one?
