@durin, I have a couple of questions about psychic :turian:"evolution" of humanity:
1)Being psyker is not a positive trait, psykers are unlikely to produce offspring, so is it not actually evolution, but something in the warp influencing humanity?
2)Being latent psyker is such a positive trait that it even offsets chance that descendants will turn psyker and kill entire local population? So it is actually evolution. Though both factors can be true.

Can we compose and codify experiences of all that bodyguard units, including Governor's Own, on protection of important figures both in relatively peaceful situations and theaters of war?

@durin, you didn't answered my question:
1. unknow
2. unknown
it doubles the chance of her dying each turn she takes it

@durin:
1) Has the Inquisition poached any of our military units, law enforcement, or our anti-psyker units?
2) Has Jane ever been approached by the Inquisition, Klovis-Ultan or otherwise, for Inquisitor training?
3) Inquisitor Varquez is known for being very dismissive about local law-enforcements. What are his thoughts on the Avernite Arbites as far as Frederick can figure?
4) Do we know if any Inquisitors outside Klovis-Ultan have been operating on or near Avernus?

Philosophy and Psykers
Philosophy and Psykers

From the first stirrings of humanity, there has always been those who gave great thought to questions that had laid unanswered. Questioners as to the natural world, the forerunners of scientists. Into existence itself, and then of the question of ethics, of what was right and wrong.

Since the Age of Strife, the line of such thinkers have suffered much, withering and waning away with the descent of an ocean of eternal war, then stamped out beneath waves of stagnancy and destitution. There is no time to give to deep thoughts when strife calls. But within the Imperial Trust, an island of peace had formed inside the warpstorm that contained them. Certainly, it wasn't a complete peace, with the emergence of chaos cults, then attacks on Midgard, two Waaaghs, an invasion against the Dark Eldar and even a Daemonic Incursion. But it was enough for philosophy to bloom again - Earth itself had never been free of conflict for long, after all.

At first it was sporadic. There was always the occasional person who would ask themselves why they were doing something. Existential doubt manifested in some rare people, before being reassured by local priests. Then it manifested in the form of letters and discussion between professors at universities. Between the existence of the Mechanicus and Ministorum (Reformed though as they were), however, It was at the Telepathica that the study grew into full flower.

That was really no surprise, when one looked at it. With their deeper insights into the nature of reality and the immaterium, they were best-placed to make questions of existence and then obtain answers. The nature of the warp made it so that any dogma created could not truly last, making it so that there were truly no real restraints on them, unlike about everywhere else.

It was, in fact, encouraged. A psyker given to asking questions on the warp and probing it's nature will almost certainly develop a greater degree of control of their own powers. Deep questioning on the nature of morality leads one to developing an introspective understanding of themselves, who they were, and the reasons behind their actions. That understanding bolstered their will, and revealed cracks that were present in their mental armor, showing up their doubts to be viewed in the conscious mind. Answering unasked questions freed up their thoughts, expanding their control.

It was no guarantee of mastery, but it certainly helped.

Keeping an open mind, answering questions that didn't really need asking, probing the nature of the Warp...these are things that let daemons into psykers. The Imperium wasn't hyper-oppressive for no reason - they were like that because it was necessary and for psykers this was especially true. Keeping one's mind orderly and tightly under control was paramount to preventing daemons from getting in and the kind of philosophising you're saying would help would only provide an opening for the Changer to enter.

It's more about asking questions and answering them. Something like in this post. That doesn't really offer openings to the Changer. The massive and broad domains of the chaos gods make avoiding openings for them pretty much impossible anyway. Like, literally every person with a weapon or hateful thought is potentially vulnerable to Khorne, anyone who ever has sex or even has food that isn't bland nothing is potentially vulnerable to Slaneesh, Aging the incurable disease is literally Nurgle, doing any sort of battle plan at all is to Tzeentech, and following orders or even safety instructions would make you potentially vulnerable to the Abomination.

Having a strong willpower is the important part of a psyker not falling to chaos, really.

Also you probe into the nature of the warp while safely inside somewhere warded, I assume our psykers aren't stupid.

1. not any units but a decent number of individuals
2. not that she has told you
3. unknown
4. you have seen some signs of them

In a Stygian Future, Part 1: The Fall
So, an omake idea. Essentially, the gist of it is one of where due to spectacularly bad luck, Avernus falls to chaos.
In a Stygian Future, Part 1: The Fall

Year 43996, 34 Years after the founding of Avernus

The warp storm engulfed Avernus. It was cut off from all possible contact from the rest of the nine worlds, or any aid at all from the Imperium as a whole. Fortunately, though, with the leaders that the planet possessed, the crisis would surely be weathered skillfully...

43996.6

All contact is lost with Salem. Attempts to re-establish it fail.

43996.9

An army is sent to investigate Salem. They do not return.

43997.1

Deacon Lin dies to a Blink-Spider. Investigation leads to suspicion of a renegade psyker.

Headmaster Ridcully starts sequestering himself away from society. Investigation reveals no taint of chaos.. as of yet.

44000

The warp storm engulfing Avernus shows no sign of abating.

A massive amount of psykers die to the psychic shockwave of the emperor's death, Xavier included. Ridcully, however, survives.

44003.8

In the course of a few months, Babylon, Beirut and True Grit report a sudden spate of attacks. Shortly after, Frederick Rotbart, with a massive army, investigates True Grit.

After massive losses, remnants of the army return, screaming something about daemons and monstrous entities.

44004.5

Silver Lake is lost.

44005

Evacuation from the less-defended cities of Avernus intensify, leaving some effectively as ghost towns.

The warp storm continues raging on.

44006.7

Okefenokee suffers from a spate of chaos psykers, shortly before reporting an attack by what appears to be a massive chaos psyker choir.

Comminications are lost shortly thereafter.

Evacuation of the Everglades begin.

44007.1

Limberlost falls.

44007.3

Asmat falls.

44008.4

The Fens falls. Reports are that soldiers were surrendering/defending nearly immediately after first sight of the enemy.. a surrender that is accepted.

@durin What is the approximate size (lenght/width/Height) of the Siege Crab Superheavy Assault Walker? (it´s for an omake of a certain type of creature that I´m imagining)

@durin Would you give insight into this concern?
Void Command
SLOT A - Year 4
-Y4: Expand and Construct: Defence Cruisers, Monitors and large shipyards

I would advice to not use an option, that combines small shipyards. We can now build large shipyards directy and economically it is cheaper (both in build time and upkeep[large shipyards cost more while giving a smaller reduction in upkeep for AM and EM]) to do so. In this case it means that there is an additional time investment of two times building 4 small shipyards afterwards to get their numbers up again. The advantage of the option is to increas the number of our large shipyards the fastest at the cost of the more economical small ones.

I would need to know what Parnell's opinion is on this matter. @durin could let us know that.

Hmm. Given the warp storm's likely to end soonish and we'll be exposed to politics outside Avernus..

@durin

1. Is it possible to infiltrate chaos-controlled planets? (Specifically, Abomination-Controlled ones.)
-a. Would sending psykers help or hinder efforts?
-b. Do we have plans to prevent likely chaos contamination in such an event?
2. Would the Imperial Trust/Space Marines push for immediate war with nonhuman/chaos neighbours, as far as we know?
3. Can Exterminatus be defended against, as far as we know? (Assuming Orbitals are lost.)
4. Just wondering, but what's the sum total of all the psychic power of the trained Major Psykers we have?
4a. What sort of things could we do?
5. What's the typical acts a Medium Alpha Psyker could do?
6. Is there a power boost for Chaos Psykers, as far as we know, or is it just that our psykers have to restrain using their powers? Or are they equal in power?

Does Parnell have a recommendation?
no

1. unknown
2. depends on situation
3. no
4. high Alpha-low Alpha-Plus (already anwered in the last day)
4a. take out a city with shields up (ditto)
5. casually kill a Warlord Titan
6. yes there is

Had a funny idea.

Maybe the Sarens came to some realization or understanding about the planet and to protect itself the planet killed them.

Not strictly needed. Lin has a very high bonus here, so the chance of success is much higher than you'd think.
52%, specifically, without rerolls. A double down effectively provides 0.2
4. high Alpha-low Alpha-Plus (already anwered in the last day)
4a. take out a city with shields up (ditto)
Was in reference to Primaris, though, as a subset of our major psykers.

1. Are warded cities like the Unseen University included in that 'Destroy a city with shields up'?
1a. Are Small/Large Hives included? (Like an upgraded Dis, for example.)
2. Where do I find our 4 psyker cities? They're not under Datasheets/Regional Information Sheets/Adeptus Astra Telepathica.
2a. And also about how are the psykers generally distributed like across them? Is it about equal?

I just had an idea that i don´t know if it´s wonderful or heretical or both.

@durin We cannot cure Saint Lin with Mechanicus techniques due that is a problem of his soul , and it´s not likely that we find how to stabilize his soul with Psyker techniques before it´s too late...

But it would be possible to give him Guiliman´s treatment in here (wait until she is at the gates of death and put him in a Stasis chamber until we discover how to heal him, or the Emperor returns)?

I don't think we actually have stasis tech haha. I think it's one of the few missing imperial technologies we have yet to recover, though I did think that about teleportation too.

We have a lot of stasis grenades, but we haven't reverse engineered them and they aren't a persistent stasis field anyways.

Crap @durin liked this.

Stasis Grenade- Near identical to the Imperial Stasis Grenade

We got em.

As for them not lasting a long time depends. Sometimes they've lasted long enough to freeze a warp abomination and keep it that way till they dumped it in a different stais field.

In any case we do have some form of statis pods, but I dunno if they're just the preservy kind.
