The thought behind this is to have a core of the BB's and haywire cruisers that can be on call for any super heavy needs, after that there is the Carrier battle groups that should be able to handle most things short of a sector battle group pre-fall. The Patrol groups are there to as said patrol space between colonies and such things as border security, thy should be able to handle most singular battleships and small fleets. The stealth group is there purely for covert operations and should not be in a straight up fight.
Right V2 includes doubling the patrol groups with a huge increase in escorts(from 320 to 720), cruiser(20 to 88 cruisers), and heavy cruisers (12 to 24) across the board. Current Carrier battle group standing is 4.7 escorts to the capital ship all told. If you take out the Decent class destroyers from the escort count it stands at 4.1 escorts per capital ship. Did not increase the battleships because of EM/AM concerns. As a bonus the total fleet holds more ships overall then @Portec and Somewhat Less Cheap Fleet fleet's while still retaining same if not more damage abilities and the costs are about even.
@durin thoughts?

[X] Somewhat Less Cheap Fleet

If this is Parnell's suggestion, then I'll get behind it. It's a good starter fleet, and as Enjou has said, it's easier to scale up than to scale down.

This is our combined total fleet. It isn't just for planetary assault. I'm trying to factoring political considerations.
This is for Avernus's Fleet, not the Imperial Trust fleet or the combined systems. Avernus does not need scout and patrol elements beyond the minimum necessary to secure the Avernus system and any future colonies Avernus establishes. And even then, that kind of regional patrol and security is, again, explicitly the job of the Imperial Trust Navy.

While it might be useful to have stealth or reconnaissance elements, it's neither a priority nor is it even a secondary concern given the established focus of the Avernus Fleet as a planetary assault force.
My stealth unit is for sabotage before the main assaults on HVT's before we get wreaked facing their full power. Taking out a command ship by boarding or torpedoes in the bridge right as the battle joins or quietly opening a hole in orbital defense grids our fleet can exploit would be enviable. As for covert Astartes the Raven Guard loved their Reflex Shields but didn't like that "sharing" thing so the rest had to take the Smash and Blast approach to Planetary Assault.
Stealth insertions could be plausibly achieved, but that kind of infiltration works best on a small, fast platform like escorts who can already carry hundreds of people and a few landers. Stealthed battlecruisers and light cruisers are neither suited for direct planetary assault nor for entirely covert insertion because as they get bigger they get less, not more, stealthy and the only advantage of that size is their direct combat power or carrying capacity. Stealth insertions work best with the smallest force possible that can still achieve the objective.

Larger stealthed ships like the light cruisers, line cruisers, or battlecruisers operate in fleet engagements as scout, surprise, or flanking forces because their stealth lets them maneuver into unexpected positions or launch a surprise attack on an already engaged enemy. They have otherwise limited use when part of a normal fleet because the existence of a fleet proper means they can only achieve a certain degree of tactical stealth, any strategic or overall stealth is obviated because there is a huge and obvious assault fleet in the system anyways.

As for stealthed ships being useful for boarding, well, that's not all that smart. Never mind how likely or not it is for them to be able to close to boarding range undetected, but once they are in boarding range they are by definition at point-blank range for the enemies main batteries and the stealth ships all have poor shields for their class and sacrifice other capabilities for their stealth, which just leaves them set up to take a major pounding.

[X] Somewhat Less Cheap Fleet

It's closer in philosophy to my offering, has enough long range heavy ships to satisfy my pew-pew desire, and has plenty of room to expand in various directions if we decide we want to spend the $$$ for it.

Though I'm not gonna be sad if Runes wins either, I agree with the idea of dropping the stealth group for one big reason. Any target hard enough to make it worth our time to send in stealth infiltrators in advance of the real assault is one that we can get Muspelheim's assistance with. They are a 'nice to have', but entirely secondary to the main purpose of the fleet, and I'm fine freeing up that EM & AM for other stuff.

Stealth escorts don't have the room for enough spec-ops troops to make a impact or their shuttles. Stealth light cruisers and battlecruisers do come with the necessary capacity to insert kill teams and have deck space. As for the boarders we're not jumping ship to ship but launching wings of Stealth bombers and shuttles so they don't know where we're coming from, how we got there, of whats blowing up their ships. The escorts just give a surprise torpedo wave then move off.

@durin , how useful would a Medium or Fast Grand Cruiser be? The Repulsive is a good example of the later, and it's generally well regarded.

@durin those cruiser in the carrier battlegroups are armored the patrol ships are as I said patrol/raiding and or integration into the primary fleet as recon elements. If you think there are too many patrol groups I can increase the escorts for the carrier battlegroups.

@durin thoughts?
Not sure what you're going for here. Much greater numbers in BB's, GC's, and HC's then any other plan but you got rid of our CB flagship and it's still high priced. Lacks close in firepower and has enough fast ships to be a raider fleet. Not seeing this as a good Planetary Assault Fleet but more as a long range raider build.

If you looked at @durin 's review of the fleets he said the fleet was really good at smashing planetary defenses and ork fleets and my only weakness's was range and numbers. I fixed both of those in terms of adding more cruiser to the fleet along with escorts. And there are no fast ships in this fleet to be a raider fleet. If you look on the Ships page all the cruisers are Armored and speed 4 which is one of the slower speeds, the heavy cruisers and grand cruisers are both speed 3, The escorts only the legionnaire destroyer has a speed of 6 while the other has a speed of 4 and armored. So a good majority of the line ships are Armored, Speed 4/3. The only place where this is not true is in the patrol groups which are built for speed and are able to raid/scout when on the offensive. Also anything that takes more then 2 BB's we need to call in the trust, and the great battleship can come later when we have more resources. The reason why I didnt add it here is because it takes up so many resources that we can use to gib a huge amount of ships for the rest of the fleet.

people need to re-read the ship list

you have 16 Corsairs and 32 Poachers, both of which are fast

@durin I can take those out I was mainly looking to make a border patrol and or raiding group that could be used to disrupt supply lines when we are assaulting a planet if you think this is a bad idea is can reduce the numbers.

So what are the overall plans for the Well of Udr in the fleet plans? Will we be able to screen it properly with the current line up of ships?

We're not touching that for the next few hundred years or more. After it's fixed up who knows, we may swap out the Einherjar for it or just leave it in system. Time will tell.

It'll be quicker to just have Vanaheim repair once we have its systems examined which should take no more than 50 years at near worst estimate rates to have the double downs and the cheatings available for it.

it improves matters
that leaves the main issue with your fleet the decision to not take a command battleship which has its advantages and disadvantages

I will update when I wake up then, and by reducing the patrol fleets I might be able to get the command ship.

The Adeptus Astra Telepathica needs updating.

Most jarring being the 171 thousand psyker total while actual totals are about 132 thousand.

What's the vote like, now?

If not so cheap wins I can deal with that outcome. Little heavy on the Grand Cruisers and Descent's for my taste and skimps on Armored cruisers and escorts but that can be fixed latter.
