So I'm going to say this right now, whatever infantry scaled weapons we don't send over to the Ad Mech or that they don't need, we probably should just hand off to the Governors Own or someone we deem important.

Because having at least one or two Conversion Beamers for the Governors Own is a fucking must.
NOOOOOO!!!!! YOU'LL DESTROY US ALL!!!
40k Wiki said:
Conversion Beamers were primarily used during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy in the late 30th and early 31st Millennia for dedicated siege warfare or starship breaching assaults by specialised operators such as Space Marine LegionTechmarines and Mechanicum Destructors. Should anyone else attempt to use the weapon, its Machine Spirit might become greatly angered and turn its ire upon the wielder instead.
Our Governor's Own aren't Space Marines and so can't become Techmarines, therefore it must belong to the Mechanicus ONLY.

Haywire weapons are good too, they work on anything from eldar tech to necrons.
I've never heard of haywire weapons before. What are they?

These are DAoT ones, hopefully they are more stable.

I'm more hopeful if we can develop this eventually to make a matter anti matter reaction reactor. :D
Doesn't matter. They're hugely complex devices and unless the operator knows how to work them, it's best not to touch them unless it's deemed absolutely safe by the Mechanicus.

Sounds like a load of superstitious hocus pocus.
They are dangerous, and he is right that we need to be careful with them, but DAoT ones are much more stable than the ones the Imperium made during the GC, like pretty much everything from then, but we defiantly shouldn't be handing them out like candy.

@durin, the Muspelhime Meltas are they as good as Volkies?

they are total different, assuming you men Volkite

There is no downside in letting them have access to it. The weapons are literally anti-anything.
and not at all suited for the short range combat the Governor's Own are best used as, also it would take years to train a member of the Gvernor's Own how to use one
in short conversion beams would be not be best used by the Governor's Own

They are, the problem is that they need time to be anti anything. Against an enormus Lava worm great. Against a fast moving small target, not so great. and that isn't even talking about how freaking heavy they are.

just different, Volkite are designed as anti-infantry weapons while meltas are anti-tank
MM, Melta's probably are still pretty good anti infantry, but I see your point.

In anycase, that plasma flame thrower looks cool as well, but a haywire gun... isn't that a little contradictory :D

Still, just having a haywire grenade in each squad would be a massive boon, the ability to stop a tank dead in its tracks thank you very much :D

Unless the Governors Own are constantly fighting within 30 meters constantly, I can understand that, but otherwise that doesn't make too much sense. At 30 meters the Beamer is basically anti-tank and at 50 metes it can destroy a Leman Russ. If you want to rule that it's a bad idea that fine, but I'm just saying that it's a waste to not be using one of the best weapons the Imperium has access too.

At least one or two should be given to some group.

It simply isn't suited for their style of fighting, a long range specialized anti tank force, or siege specialists, yes, but a close range fast moving squad...

It would be like giving a stealth squad nothing but Bazookas.

Glad our psyker population is increasing. I'm hoping that between the population and the work we're doing to increase our fundamental understanding of the topic that we'll be able to reform how we teach and regulate our psykers. On that note, have we spoken to the Grey Knights about psyker training? I'm betting that they've got a fair bit of lore that would be especially useful for battle psykers, and given their recruitment problems they should be more amenable to sharing their knowledge.

Alas, the dream of entire regiments of battle-psykers remains just a dream for the near future. Still, if/when we run into anyone else with a brain, they'll shit bricks if they learn just how many trained psykers we have, and the numbers are only getting higher.

Gun tech found in the graveyard is cool, but right now I think our best bet in tech research is ship technology and automation. Do we know if the repair robots will be able to increase the rate we make/fix ships too? It is amazing how much of a backlog of tech stuff we've got though. We really should dedicate some actions to begin reverse-engineering even if they aren't optimal just so we get the option to form a school for it.

On the whole Beamer debate, if we feel like we absolutely need some anti-anything in our guard, we could just grab a pyromancer or two. The high-level ones can melt anything with their mind :p

But would you consider the Governors Own a stealth squad of all things? Hell, there is a pistol version of the beamer, you can use pistols in melee in the RPG lines.
