Web Hawking
Alright, time for another omake that most probably wouldn't make it to canon, but whatever.

===========
Web Hawking

"Say it again."

"Imperium is dead." Dark Eldar grinned. "Collapsed several years ago."

Space Marine showed no sign of emotion after hearing this. He just said:

"Details."

"Well, first the Emperor died. All serious here, I heard that from a human priest. He died and then blew up or something, and then Terra got screwed by Warpfuckers along with half the system. Then humans' means of travel got screwed, and they just crumbled. Entire damn planets blown up or given to Big Dicks. Waste."

"How did you know all that?"

"From a priest, I'm telling ya. We came upon a world that was stable, more or less, and it was run by a priest. Bastard was tough - killed half a cabal before we got him. Had to drug him for days before he cracked. Funny guy."

"Is he on one of your ships?"

"Nah. He tried to kill Haemunculi. Ended bad."

"And where were you going before coming across us?"

"A colony. Some of us have left the Way after Commoraggh and got settled, but they had some human neighbors that kicked them out of one of the colonies. We were planning to offer our services to some of 'em, but then stumbled across some Impy ship that got lost in the way. We went to loot it and then... then..."

"Don't get distracted." Space Marine waved his hand. "Where is this colony of yours?"

"Ah, it's near." Eldar named a long set of coordinates.

"Bet you can't name it in human coordinates."

"Bullshit bet." Eldar named a shorter set of coordinates. "These damn monkeys are so dumb they're still flying through the Immaterium. Can you imagine?"

"I guess so." Space Marine took his chainsword and impaled the Dark Eldar with it. "But you met the wrong monkey, prick."

Eldar didn't answer - he was too busy dying. Marine left the chainsword in his guts and exited the chamber.

"Are you sure he had to die, sir?" He asked from his commander that examined the Eldar through glass window.

"Yes, Kublai. He wouldn't cooperate once the drugs wore off, and torturing Dark Eldar is just as pointless as preaching to a daemon. We got what we needed anyway."

"Shall we combat these Eldar colonies?"

"Not on our own. If there are humans that could face Dark Eldar and win, we must find them and join forces - or lead them if there's no proper commander."

"But sir... If the heresy Dark Eldar spoke of is shared by them, will they accept our leadership?"

Primarch Jaghatai Khan gave him a curious stare. "We'll see, my friend. We'll see."

Well the Khan was lost in the Webways and now the DE are leaving in in masses so His return is not quite impossible.

Also this quest is awesome and I just got through over a thousand pages of some of the best and most detailed plans for a quest that I ever read.
Great work!

Easier said than done...but not impossible I imagine. Even Astartes proved very corruptible so getting mere humans to the point where Chaos could not touch them was a challenge, yet it was still done. Getting the Sisters to the point where the Abomination can't touch them would be similarly challenging, but it seems like an achievable goal.
even if it is possible making them a religious organisation is not a good idea, religion is inherit vulnerable to the Abomination, especially when it does not have n active God to protect it

thank you, it is always nice to have someone new join the quest

1.Would they really be that vulnerable just because it's a religious group? The Sisters were very, very violent and their hate was not insignificant, but they never fell to Khorne despite that. Slaanesh was also interested due to how pure and spiritually perfect they were yet only one Sister ever fell to her. As far as I can tell, the Sisters proved that you can strongly embody aspects of Chaos Gods and yet still remain pure.

Lin and Xavier are both very religious yet they still came out of the Abomination's Realm untainted (Lin was not incorruptible until his faith was tested then). Rotbart has 'faith that will never waver' but Lin's never gone up to him and told Rotbart to cut that s**t out. As far as I can tell, having faith is like having hatred - it empowers you more than it weakens you.

2. Does Avernus have any death cults?
3. Xavier and Khol are both graduates of the Avernus Officer Academy but Khol seems to get more stats out of it. Did the instructors just wave Xavier through to get the hive-killing witch out of their academy as quickly as possible?
4. According to Lexicanum, it usually takes months to launch a Deathstrike due to administrative and religious rituals. I know we've got the former down pat, but were the religious requirements laxened by Britton or do they just not take very long compared to the admin stuff?

1. Yes they would be at least at first, the problem is the reason that the Sisters could avoid falling to the Chaos Gods in the past was their iron faith, which is now the problem, it may be possible to find a substitute but that is far easier said then done
the main issue is that while faith empowers the exceptional few more then it weakens them the reverse is true for most people (your heroes are by definition the exceptional few). The key component is willpower which Xavier, Lin and Britton have in incredible amounts and is rare enoguh at that level that you can not make an major organisation with it
2. Sort of, there are several cults that are forming around either worship of or appreciation for the wildlife that have some similarities (but a far shorter life expectancy due to the fact that they are often a bit too careless with said wildlife)
3. It is because Xavier had better stats when he entered and so had less improvments
4. Both, mostly the latter

1. Is it possible to open this up as a major Saint Lin project after he's done reforming the Ecclesiarchy with Good Deeds or by "far easier said than done" do you simply mean we can't?
2. Are the Grey Knights open to corruption now?

3. Worship of wildlife is heresy, I believe? The constitution does say that it's illegal to worship xenos, after all.
4. Does Ynnead count as a xeno?

Ynnead would most certainly count as a xeno, he's a god toward the Eldar and creature far older than humanity...or very young if you want to use real world physics. When it comes to the warp, age is a worthless measurement.

1. I mean that you can't right now but may be able to at some point (some very very distant point)
2. How would you know? But probably not as they have enough willpower to avoid corruption
3. They generally are killed by the wildlife before it becomes and issue
4 Yes

@durin, looking at Avernus' character sheet and was reminded of some stuff, namely Military Tradition and the Pious population trait. If Syr hadn't already gotten it, would she have likely gained the 'Pious' trait just from being an Avernite? Will she eventually get a bonus from Military Tradition?

After rereading the quest, what happened to the Mechanicus convoy and the Black Dragon space marine chapter? Were they lost to the warp or did they survive and set up shop on the closest world they ended up by?

@durin, I'm curious but are there any plans in the future to make another 40k quest where we can instead found a colony during the Age of Progress/DAoT? Since this quest is just amazing after going through my second re-read and also reading some other good quests/stories/threads, I am hoping that us founding a Golden Age colony that we can see grow from the beginning would be great. So comments? Questions? I already have one potential scenario if you wish for me to pm the details for it?

This is already a super long quest, which durin does not seem to be getting board with anytime soon. That being said it is a great idea. While I can't run any quests myself at the moment, and I have some of my own ideas, I would love to help out if I can :).

no, population traits are fa smaller scale then character traits

no I have to plans (or time) to make another quest
I would be interesyted in any your quest idea however

So question to the thread. Do we want Syr to be the heir? I mean she's going down a church route that may lead her to being more of a pacifists/Pastor type. While she would be AWESOME as a figure head to help keep order/faith we may need to have a more military/administrative heir.

I hereby would like to charge this thread and myself on discussion on whether or not to have another child. An if so, how would we raise that new heir?

I'm assuming since we are not a feudal society that we can just tap or designate who we want to take over should we die/incapable of rule. Also @durin would Freya be okay with having another son or daugher? I know that in old feudal/Victorian age societies that women would refuse to have more kids after a certain point for political reasons.

Before we decide to have any more children, we should finish raising Syr first. We're already failing to properly tutor her and adding another child to the mix would make the problem worse.

Huh?

Where is this coming from?

Syr is nothing of the sort. In fact she appears to be very marital and warlike.

The only thing she's really lacking in is Administrative ability.
