I think we want the Telepaths at least to be attached to the various regiments. Diviners I'm split on. I'm assuming this will result in 4 major psyker Task Forces, and the most effective attaches distributed through out the army.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Telepaths and Diviners obviously make the most sense as attachments to the command staff.

However, that means no Diviner choir, and probably no Siren Song force either. I think the gain is worth it to the command staff, but I would like to hear other people's opinions, as could be persuaded otherwise.

That would leave probably 4 task forces:

Pyromancers
Telekinetics
Demonologists
Biomancers

The Siren Song force would probably be very valuable to us - I suspect the Eldar might be particularly vulnerable given their heightened senses. It might help with sieges if we were able to use them to draw the Dark Eldar out from the cities much as the Sirens did to us before we put in security measures to keep people from leaving.

I feel like having task forces divided by type of psyker is a bad idea unless we're planning on using battle choirs. Having the Psykers mixed makes them more flexible and harder to counter. Splitting off Telepaths and Diviners as attachments makes sense, but the rest of the battle psykers should be mixed.

Dividing them into Task Forces is so they can perform large psychic workings within their specialties by being in choirs with the same specialties. They would be used as strategic weapons that would be kept behind our lines. For example, the Phasing task force might be able to do things like Phase a barrage of Deathstrikes out of reality so it can bypass shields and hit a target.

I'm still only about 300 pages into this quest. Is there anything I really MUST know before I attempt to post?

[X] Elder Haman
@Elder Haman Any particular reason you chose to start opening up the Beirut Ruins now? There's still plenty of things that we can research from the Well of Urd with great chance of success, and it's the most exposed cache of tech we've got while the stuff in the ruins will still be there when we're done.

Plan has been written before reading discussion and is subject to change.
Plan changed.

AdMun
[X] Training: Planetary Assault
-[X] Double Down: Planetary Assault
[Y] Training: Anti-Harassment
Siege will be only a thing if we made it that far. Lets try to get there first.
Edit:
[X] Emergency Measures: AA
[X] Personal Attention: Training: Anti-Harassment
Our experience with air really favors this aproach.

Diplo
[X] Request Trainers: Void Infantry Regiments
[X] Sound Out (Colonisation)
The only ones with a decent chance of success given the current malus.

AdArb
[Y] Dark Eldar Infiltrators
I have nothing better. I am open to change this but it may prevent revange from surviving raiding parties.
Edit:
[X] Central Security Council
It is correct that we were planning to do this for quite some time now.

AdMech
[X] Examine: Internal Data Network
[X] Detailed Survey (Congregation Asp): Take Two
[X] Enlarge Forges
-[X] Expedite: Enlarge Forges
There might be plans or STC saved on the network to support the ships of the 9 worlds.
The forges action is a may but we do need more AM as well.
Edit: Nothing we research will have effect in the comming war. So we may better focus on recovery afterwards. Doubling down on the Network is pointless in my opinion as it already has a change of 95% without it.

AdMin
[X] Orders Dialogous Attachments
A no-brainer. We want more options and to understand what they are talking about.

AdAstra
[X] Prepare Battle Psyker: Task Forces
Kill teams sound nice but the casualitys will soon limit what they can do and a grand choir sounds great as well but that just puts them all into a single basket.
Edit:
[X] All In
[X] Last Minute Training

Personal
[X] Tutor Syr (Martial)
[Y] Spend Time With Family
Personal Attention: Training: Anti-Harassment
Expedite: Enlarge Forges
Double Down: Planetary Assault
Family is never an option not to take and so it is only right to spent time with Syr and explain to her what is going on.
The forges are the only action that can be expedited and Planetary assault is THE action that must succed.
Edit: To drop family time... At least we will be spending time with Syr...

When does the Well of Urd appear and what is it?
It's a Dark Age of Technology Exploration vessel that appeared around turn 39? or sometime around then.
Even though it is extremely dilapidated with no shields functional, it's strong enough to take on three Imperial Battleships and win.

Speaking of DAoT technology, @durin is there a chance that there's an Abominable Intelligence on or around Avernus? The Deus Ex Mechanicus quest just had a nat 1 nightmare happen to it so I got worried.

We live in an Old One biolab. The kind of stuff that could wake up on Avernus makes Abominable Intelligences look cuddly.

VOTE SCRAPPED

A really really dumb idea for the future - A raid on the Chrone worlds for the Anvil of Vaul: Which would either be the tool of a god OR the vessel of said god. Since I don't think he is ever mentioned following his binding to said Anvil.

Techpriest One: "We put it in a sealed chamber with a piece of wraith-bone and it started carving what we believe to be monument to its fallen brethren. After that it started making little trinkets."

Techpriest Two: "I'm amazed it hasn't made any weapons or tried to escape."

Techpriest One: "To be fair it's new chamber has a 900% reduction in tentacles."

Techpriest Two: "Did your logic cogitator just break?"

Techpriest One: "Perhaps."

Edit: Terrible joke was terrible. I'll stop now.

My thought was the opposite. That telepathic attacks like the Siren Song are probably the ones that the Dark Eldar have warded against the most heavily. Thus they are the most likely to result in backlash. Since we have a low risk and highly effective option to use telepaths as attached to command staff that seems the better choice.

I'm not so certain about the Diviners though. A diviner choir seems like it ought to be very useful. If a lot of people think we ought to limit attached psykers to Telepaths, and allow diviners as a Task choir, then I will make that change.

Ehh... just read all the story posts. If you say something wrong everyone will be glad to dogpile you with corrections. I suggest asking your questions of the crowd first for a few turns before bothering durin (as he gets a lot of repeat questions from new questers- we really need a FAQ page).

Trying to find a bunch of STCs. As we have the Collegia now, that means that every STC we find that has a positive chance to it has a chance to be completed each turn automatically by the Collegia, so the sooner we find them the better. Once we have the ruins explored we can start researching the more complicated STCs.

Last question - have any attempts been made to look at the ring of ship wrecks?

Got diverted to exploring the Well of Urd instead.

I'm not sure if that's how warding works or not - can it cause backlash, or does it only just stop psychic powers from affecting warded areas unless you overwhelm them? @durin, can you please clarify?

Anyways, if we can't use the Siren Song on their cities it can still be useful in the field. They can't really deploy wards in mass on the field, so the Siren Song could be used to draw out groups that would otherwise try to ambush us.

A Diviner Choir is likely to provide us with strategic information, I think. It would be worth having, I think.
