1) He thinks Rhaenyra killed the grand maester knowingly.
2) He thinks Rhaenyra might kill him if he screws up or if she thinks he screws up, and that Rhaenyra is willing to kill several other innocent people to get at her target.
A chance to become more secure in his position, and for the emotions to become less raw, might actually make it easier for him to accommodate to the idea that neither of these things is true. Though he's still going to have trust issues with Rhaenyra basically forever, and that's kind of inevitable because we did vote to break our word to him.
I'm not so sure. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that our biggest concerns with Orwyle are:OTOH, rushing to Viserys after Aemma's Death worked extremely well for us... and honestly this seems the kind of situation in which talking with Orwylle immediately would have a greater effect on him...
