One of the benefits of solving the problem now is that we will have more authority in the class, which means that we will be able to negotiate and influence people to a greater extent. Perhaps in the future we will not deal with the problem ourselves, it will be enough to point it out and explain in detail why others should solve it.

When I first saw people voting for the slacking loafer, I was not enthused. I thought the concept would not be as entertaining as the other options.

I was wrong. This update is hilarious and I'm glad Sol is our protagonist.

Now, as to the vote itself, this is certainly a thinker. Our will reserves are not high and this is a big chunk. If we spend the spoons now we're going to be running on low-power mode for:

Our first class as the Magician, which will indubitably include an optional will spending point.

The earliest parts of factions forming and interacting (Sol has already predicted that the class will split into factions, but what exactly those factions will be and their relations with each other is very much still up in the air).

The earliest development of our classmate's roles, which we could probably influence to some extent if we have the will for it.

And probably other things I haven't anticipated!

Remember that playing the slacking loafer is all about resource management. This seems like a good point to spend, but every point to spend will seem good. Our priority then should be figuring out which things will have the highest impact on Sol's future lifestyle.

We should also avoid complete burnout whenever possible, because if a vital spending point comes up when we're on <30 will things could become bad.

Simply warn Harry about the potential dangers and retire for the night. He is an individual with his own agency, and whether he chooses to heed your advice or not is not something you can enforce. However, you can offer a cautionary message and hope that his ability to reason will prevail. Then, you can rest and inquire about the outcome of the situation at a later time. Not like its going to make things worse or cost you any energy to do.

Ok, we may try this one. I cannot think of better plan.

[X] Stay In Bed [+5 Will]

Tactics can enhance our odds and minimize Will loss, but can they improve Will gain? Pass Harrison the baton, send him out to scout and probably get scammed, all that rot. Then, let Solomon turn his attention to what's truly important: maximizing comfiness. The problem with pillows, as any inveterate idler knows, is that they absorb body heat. The crisp coolness of a freshly made bed quickly gives way to a rumpled, room-temperature mess. The Magician won't stand for this - certainly not when he could be lying down instead!

Practice thermal manipulation while lazing about in bed. Keep the pillow cool, warm the sheets covering Sol's toes, and so on. His cantrips are insufficient for refrigeration and impermanent, but should be adequate for this. Other possible exercises include smoothing the blankets, dampening noise, creating pleasant smells, or anything else Prestidigitation can do. He shouldn't push too hard; the goal here is to increase Sol's passive Will generation and build positive associations with practicing magic. If he gets good enough at this, it'll be automatic!

[X] Stay In Bed [+5 Will]

We can stop the scamming today but what about tomorrow? Next week? Next month?

Someone will eventually talk either by getting tricked, forced, or bribed. So why bother?

[X] Stay In Bed [+5 Will]
We need every bit of Will we can get and we need to use our Will wisely, considering that picking Harrison as roommate is going to cause part of our Will to be drained by being allocated into activities that Harrison thinks are good for us, but in reality aren't actually as good for us as he thinks they would be.

I will say, there is one small benefit to Punish Scammers. Namely, that the Magician tarot card is associated with action, manipulation, and realizing potential. As such, taking action to prevent the scamming via social manipulation and leveraging massive talent makes a good first showing for playing into the Role. In fact, I think the entire reason that the Punish Scammers route can even get a cantrip on the first day is because of how it plays into Sol's Role.

However, there will be other opportunities to lean into Magician thematics. Maybe ones that come with more powerful auxiliary benefits than "Our classmates don't get their info leaked".

Eh even the non efb version of king of magi said we'd gain cantrips before even the first lesson with the educator. So we were always gonna have a hand full before even the first day of class.

By abstaining we miss out on this first pivotal moment where we interact with Penelope. That's worth 5 Will?
Penelope interaction just landed on our feet through our Harrison purchase. The 60 Will is well worth it for the chance to secure the first steps.

If the first interaction point with Penelope is pivotal, abstaining just moves that 'first' point forward. And calling abstaining '+5 will' is misleading; abstaining is our primary alternative to going, which costs 60 will. Until and unless a superior Write-in is suggested, abstaining is picking 65 will over the benefits of going- not just 5.

Also, if it's so early... How long Sol planning to sleep?

An idea that might be viable depending on our exact capabilities:

[X] Write-in: Remote Assistance
Por que no los dos? The magic already within you, even if limited, is magic, the force that scoffs at limitations of reality, including distance. You should be able to stay in the room and still keep an eye on the group and act when necessary. With your precognition, simple observation via scrying should be sufficient. It will probably take some time and effort to develop the necessary techniques, but with bed, pillow and coffee jelly it should be much less draining than braving the outside and conversing with the gaggle of explorers.

Edit 1: Added an approval vote for Genericname's plan.

Tactics to Punish Scamming should probably exploit the fact that Sol's room looks out on the Gardens. If he's able to whip up a dramatic spell in a hurry, he could fire it out the window, demonstrating that the incoming Class contains a prodigy while making a token attempt at secrecy. Harrison would be the one delaying in that scenario, though, so he'd have to be convinced of our rationale and to cooperate.

All very troublesome... the bed beckons.

This unconventional slacking tactic is rated as effective!

[X] Write In: Path of Least Resistance
-We are faced with a dilemma. Exert ourselves to defend our class, or stay obscured and let them rot. Why not find the easiest path to secure both?
-We have in our possession a book containing all the information you need to know about your enrollment. A pity it doesn't contain a passage talking about potential scams. Or does it?
-Focus your powers on developing the most simple illusion cantrip possible. For a genius like Sol, this should be child's play. Nothing compared to what might be required to ward off upper class man through force.
-Follow your classmates as per plan Punish Scamming, but rather than focus on convincing the upper class men to back off, simply act as if you have a passage in the book warning about this very scam. Overlay the warning over the book, and your classmates will assume it is an official source.
-This allows you to only appear as a more prepared student, not an unprecedented genius. The effort it would take in terms of magical prowess is much less than a dismissive show of force. The book is also more credible, bypassing Sols issue of convincing classmates of his predictions.
-If Sol finds it possible and less overall effort, rather than following them to the location, attempt to stall them until you develop the illusion cantrip. Show them the book now, and then rest in blissful sleep, following the posted tactics for proper magically induced perfect nap time.

We are still in our formative years. With a dataleak forces outside might influence to curtail development of the class. Influence certain students to push for specific things from the Educator. Weakening us.. Penelope might sidestep this on her own, but an openly trusting person like Harrison or someone like Sam might not. Path to power is going Pirate. Even the Metsaphysicist has people from his class he relies on time to time. The class needs to be strong as a whole if we are going to face the power shenanigans of the world after the three years of class.

Does it mean Sol need to lie? He kinda doesn't really like it. And scammers might read this book too.

Scammers can read the book but they'd have no reason to assume we could change its contents. Having access to magic before your first lesson is unprecedented. It's a "lie", but really it's more of a stretching of truth. The information in the book is real, and it is a thing you should know for your enrollment. If we really don't want to lie outright just lie by omission and say "this book contains something relevant to this," which is completely true. It's just that we added the thing it contains.
