The Star, (lore post)

Daughter of the Firmament, Dweller between the Waters, Path of Tzaddi - the Natural Intelligence. Hope.
The Sky as the Sea and the Sea as the Sky. The Guiding light, the Brilliance in Dark, Journeys of the goddess, The True Self.

In the center of the heavens, the largest Star shine the Divine Name. It is Sirius, the Dog-Star, the Star of Isis-Sothis, surrounded by the Stars of the Seven Planets. Submerged within the spiritual realm, a celestial figure is suspended between two worlds. Her earthly form, intertwined with life's ebb and flow. Above, the mountains of the spiritual Sun reach skyward, their peaks towards the rainbow of promise.

The woman is an archetypal creature of the deeps. She lives and moves in the timeless world of the planets. She moves beyond time, subject only to the symphony of the universe's beating rhythm. Star of the Heptagram rests on her brow. The synthesis of Isis, of Nephthys and of Athor. Venus, born of the foam of the sea through whose sphere the influence of Chesed descends.

She is Aima, Tebunah, the Great Supernal Mother—Aima Elohim, pouring upon the Earth the waters of Creation at her feet. The River going forth from the Supernal Eden which ever floweth and faileth not. On the right springs the Tree of Life and on the left the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil whereon the Bird of Hermes alights.

She is the Mistress of All, She Who Bore the Gods, Coverer of the Sky, At Whose Feet Is Eternity, Brilliant One, Veil of Heaven, She Who Protects, and She Who Holds a Thousand Souls, keeping bay the forces of chaos apart from the cosmos.

Come night, her form is adorned across the heavens as the resplendent Milky Way. While the sun and moon traverse her vast expanse, passing through her womb to be reborn each new dawn.

It is said, if you wish upon a star, your dreams may come true.

Man in the pursuit of a purpose yearn for a goal, an aim to strive for. Faith that our hopes and wishes shall be fulfilled. That our dreams shall come true. The Star is this very faith, that hope. That little spark of magic which spurs us on in our quest for enlightenment.

The light is dim, like starlight, but these stars are distant suns. As is written, "When you have found the beginning of the way, the star of your soul will show its Light."

These pinpricks of illumination are scaled to our human perspective. Unlike the lightning of the Tower, starlight cannot blind or destroy. Unlike sunlight, it cannot wither and burn. Like the Hermit's lamp beckons, each star shines to us limited yet controlled illumination, unveiling into fragments of spiritual revelation.

Their patterns ever changing yet pre-destined. Bridging the gap between the present, our fleeting now with the transcendent flow of time.

"THINKEST thou, O seeker for wisdom, That thou bringest thyself into the Light By thine own search? Not so.

I am the HOOK, Cast into the waters of darkness, To bring men from their depths into the sphere of true perception. Entering that sphere, They must die to their old selves, Even as a fish cast upon the land must die.

Yet do they die only to live again. Men think they seek me, But it is I who seek them. And when I find mine own, the pain of questing is at an end. The fish graspeth the hook, thinking to find food, But the fisherman is the enjoyer of the meal.

The Hook and the Gate and the Right Hand am I. I draw men forth from the death of error into the life of truth. I am the gate through which they pass. And I am the Window Looking out upon the world, And inward upon my Self.

I am the balance between Victory and Foundation. Only because I never forget myself doth the creation continue. The seeds of existence spring from my self-contemplation, that is a great Silence. For not by noise and tumult is my work perfected.

Herein is the secret of the pillar of establishment which Solomon set before the porch of the Temple. And this is the royal secret of my reign."

[X] Plan Just Shoot Them

By god the redemption is such stupid and tired plot. Its always chosen in any quest where its an options.

This forum is like a broke record. Just be original for once.
In my defense, most quests die so its not like it often actually happens as much as its used. Also my concern was more being unable to undo their evil and thinking that having them fight the lamb would be more advantageous. Given I have morals but they weren't the number one concern. As I wasn't sure they were ontologically evil so I was a bit iffy on killing them.

[X] Plan Just Shoot Them

[X] Plan Just Shoot Them

I don't fancy our chances of turning beings created by the Adversary given the extreme degree of mind control it has shown- for all we know, they could act out redemption perfectly for an opportunity to slip the leash and fulfill their objective.

Also, we should totally gank Death, in any case.

Solomon, with his Architectural prowess, that would allow him to simply shoot them to death sees that it's entirely possible for him to imprison two of the Horsemen. As said by the QM.

That is indeed their original Fated script. The epic tale of betrayal of the mentor and student - this has been confirmed by WoG.

Only, now Sol no longer is under Fate's whims as of last update. He can truly change the tale, instead of opting for the easier option. Act like how the Educator would rather see him do, rising to the occasion. Even threatened with death, Educator would give it his all to educate the girls.

The fact that this betrayal is no longer Fated doesn't mean it's impossible. Sol giving the horsegirls a stern talking-to probably isn't going to dissuade them. Converting them would likely be a long project that consumes a significant fraction of his remaining time prior to Graduation (and maybe even beyond), and involve marshaling all of Sol's considerable magical power and architectural prowess.

Birdsie said we might not even need the ritual to pull of the Architectural feat and the connections part, even though we kept it as a failsafe. The default approach has Sol look into Architecture for the path. It's not just him talking to them. Soteriology counters the horsemen on a fundamental level. Since they are enrolled and thir Roles have just begun there was unique opportunity to pull this off.

And I'll note sparing the two girls and imprisoning them probably is not going to stop them from attending Classes. The Educator doesn't even allow death to hinder attendance. It would have been better to shoot them all than make this change last minute.

More like 75%. If they were male far more people would kill them.

Or.. maybe some of us just like the foreshadowing that the author gave at the start of the quest. And maybe not skip over all the content like we did in the last quest. Yes there are other story arcs and characters, but this was an important part as well. We can choose to pair excellence and engage with this setting at large. Actually play Sol like the Magician.

I'd like to reiterate what we're actually voting for with the new Just Shoot Them. A revenge arc, killing and sparing half the girls. Middle ground sometimes works, but I don't see it going well here. Not with our Orange-and-Blue morality Educator in play.

There doesn't seem to be a way to shift things to killing all of them either at this point. I feel, all the voters should have been made aware before making such a big change.

Edit: @quantum lurker - back when we planned to imprison World and Judgement for bullying, we had WoG that the Educator would educate them regardless through dreams if he needs to. I was talking about the surviving Horsegirls. Not the ones we PK.

The Horsemen (lore post)

Hast thou given the horse strength?

Hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper?
The glory of his nostrils is terrible.
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength:
He goeth on to meet the armed men.
He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted;
Neither turneth he back from the sword.
The quiver rattleth against him, The glittering spear and the shield.
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage:

Neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.

Horses are awesome creatures. Few things in the world compare with the thundering hooves of a herd galloping over the plains, the earth trembling in their stride. They are beautiful. They stand unrivaled in their grandeur, majesty.

The four horsemen are an awesome sight. And a sight you never, never want to see.

And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.

In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; and in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.

Then I answered and said unto the angel that spake with me, "What are these, my lord?" And the angel answered and said unto me, "These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth."

As the call rang out to each horse and rider, one by one they hurtle across the world. They do not utter a word. Each rides forth in complete silence.

I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Apostle John in his great vision of things to come. The corner of the veil on the future is pulled back he is allowed to peer into the final days of this age.

At the breaking of the first seal, John gets his very first glimpse of the future time of worldwide tribulation. And what he sees is a lone rider on a white charger, bent on Conquest.

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the voice of thunder, one of the four beasts spake, "Come and see."

And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

The rider wears the crown of the victor, a stephanos of laurel. The icon of authority.

Bows symbolically represent strength in battle. The horseman was given a bow, but yet no arrows. The rider is not conquering with might alone. It is the looming threat of war they herald, the white of a bloodless victory. Of the spirit crushed under heel.

And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast spake, "Come and see."

And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

When Apostle John said he saw "another" horse, he used the Greek word allos, which means "another of the same kind." In other words, this horse and rider are of the same nature as the first. Identical.

The second horse's coat is described in the original Greek as Pyrros. The horse is as red as a raging inferno, fire made flesh. The color illustrates the nature of the judgment under this seal. Harbinger of slaughter, bloodshed, and terror.

It is the same fiery red as the great dragon in Revelation 12:3: "Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems."

The rider bears a great sword. In the Greek, it is said to be Mega Machaira. The mega (great) long sword carried to battle by the Roman soldiers of old.

As the third seal is broken in Revelation 6:5-6, the black horse gallops across the globe in the wake of the first two horsemen. The apostle John says..

And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast spake, "Come and see." And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, "A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine."

The third horse is dark as a starless midnight. An omen, a silent requiem against the dying sun. A hungry maw threatening to swallow the world whole..

The blackness is the specter of hunger. Lamentations 4:8-9 says, "Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.

They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field."

The rider holds a pair of scales in their hand. In Revelation 6:5, meticulously weighing out each morsel. This alludes to food is now being scarce. For famine reigns on Earth.

And so the phantom of famine rides forth.

After detailing the devastation wrought by the first three riders, John describes the final horse in the corral.

And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast spake, "Come and see."

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

The word used to describe the fourth horse's coat is ashen. The Greek word used for the color is Chloros — which denotes a pale green. Elsewhere in Revelation it is described as the verdant emerald of spring. Here it is a sickly yellow green.

Sallowness that mirrored the putrefaction of a long-fallen corpse. The pale ashen color of a face bleached with stark terror as they behold the Rider's passage. And so the apocalypse descends.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

And then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God, that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

I am pretty sure that killing half the girls will render it impossible to save the other two, as they will be slightly upset that some guy just killed their siblings.

Well that's what the Shoot them vote is right now. A write in was included day before yesterday to kill Conquest and Famine there. And imprison the others.

I don't think Sol strong as he is will be able to convince or stop the Educator from continuing to educating Death and War. It's better if we completely kill all four or Spare them all and turn them.

Well yes. That is why I am voting to just shoot them.

This is the Shoot them vote. The vote has been changed to shoot half of the horsegirls, after some discussion in Discord.

If you guys want to shoot all four of the girls, I suggest you convince Rihaku to change things back. Because the other shoot vote, Summary Judgement has lagged a bit. As things are now, this is not the best of both worlds.

Huh. Changing a vote like that midcourse strikes me as somewhat dishonest.

No, no - it was discussed in discord. A lot of the regulars were present when it happened. It was because of a vote marker exchange agreement to convince someone to switch. I'm sure everyone just forgot to mention it in thread because things are fast paced.

But better late now than not though.

It was mentioned in the thread. And, as the post says, the change was only made because Birdsie confirmed that sparing and imprisoning two of them wouldn't lower Sol's chances of victory at all. We can kill two and sedate two, leaving open the possibility of future interaction with the spared two. The Educator doesn't intervene in student-on-student incapacitation, as previously noted - neither death nor sedation would stop him if he desired to.

What if we kill three? Or no one, but just cripple them? This plan doesn't sound like 'just shoot them' at all anymore! :V

Ah my mistake. But in my defense, a lot of people were still treating the vote as kill them all.

It's not a question of Sol winning. Birdsie said previously when we wanted to imprison or coma World and Judgement that the Educator would just teach them through their dreams. If the Educator is that much dedicated to enroll his would be assassins, it very much probable he'd go the extra length. I don't think incapacitating them is the right call, not with their Roles changing as a response to the murder. I know we have Freedom from Fate, but this is inviting them to start a revenge arc. All future interactions are soiled from this act as well.

I'll be honest I'll just rather we kill all of them.. I voted for "just shoot them" to not have to deal with revenge powered enemies down the line.

I guess that's not confirmed nor how thinks will go but the Educators blind determination to teach and those empower worries me a bit...

Maybe, he cannot take it back, when someone already taken into his Class. Now he must to teach them and can only stop it within rules he works under. Like, if they skip their classes too much, but not for personal reasons. 🤔

all powerful as a teacher but must teach
Actually, it makes sense to send assassins disguised as students in this case. They don't actually need to deceive him for long. Just for a single moment, when he makes a decision to take specific people as his Class. Although, it is a problem for us and others, yeah.
