The Dawi in Arda (Hiatus)

If Warkeymon is using the LotR online lore as cannon then it's possible as a neutral third party we could realise what's happened and help the two groups avenge their grudge against the actual killers of Fram.
Unless the Dwarves admit that it was their doing in righteous retribution.

Salt should be used when consulting with the all-knowing Elder Wiki Wisehead. We are changing history by our very presence here.

Ask about the fallen castle where the undead walked and the dark thing you found in your mines as well, perhaps he has some knowledge of these fell wights. But more importantly, ask about the green moon, if this is still the Fated Place, the location upon a larger map of the land and what year is this according to Elgi, Umgi and Dawi calendars.

Lore wise we saw the fall of Minas Ithil and how Sauron took the Palantiri in it.
Thanks to the rune of fate, I am uncertain if this is the very near future or the present.
Minsa Ithil fall after a two years siege.
Nothing we can do about it, the rune of balance will either suffice in stopping any attempt to spy on us or fail.

Only five more turns until pop dump. Let me tell you how hype I am for that.

Hopefully many more dice, so we can get many more things down faster. Beardlings everywhere!

And with a Silver vein we can start a silver/goldsmith clan for more trade goods.

So many options.

Someone else in the thread said we're at TA 2000 if that helps at all.

depending how many dice we get remember the dice depend of hold stability and happiness so will be fun to see how many we get

@RandomDwarf I mean our hold is itself shaping up to become a gigant caste, 3 layers of outers walls with towers and traps on all sides, a massive fortification before the only gate, fortifications on the gate, fortifications on the stairs both up and down, armouries, 3 gatehouses at the bottom of our stairs, a network of tunnels designed to be defensible chokepoint, and if you want to pass from the south you probably will have to take the outpost firs, building a gigant castle on the middle of our valley seems kinda of dumb, it would defend nothing more and be a massive waste of space that would eventually all be used to farm.

i meant that we could use the excavation dice to build a project for SOMEONE ELSE!!! seriously...dwarves have been hired before to make defenses and castles/cities before-hand.

Sure, it will take a while before we should accept commision castle work but Rivendell was build by dwarfes paid by Erlond so there is a precedent.
I do doubt that we will have many customers, few will be willing to have a castle build by dwarfes around us, and even less would be able to pay for one.

aye i know, but it amuses me of the idea of Sauron or one of his slaves throwing a fit because they can't seemingly bring down a damnable fortress and make it worth the effort.

more defence in the depths and more goats l really don't like how low our meat storage is raising. then we also need to think about guest house as well as market for trade ... the never ending circle of life

Meat really doesn't bother me, we are bringing in plenty of excess food when you look at meat and crops together, I just don't see the extra -5 to our farmers as worth it right now just to increase our storage rate, especially as it would require us to make a meat storehall to store it all in.

yea l now its more to do with civ games l played (more pop more food needed) in the pass as well as an army on the march needs more supplies. also dont forget if we have a market and more travellers to our outpost who going feed them and sell to them? so yea meat may not look important atm but just something to think about in 3 maybe 4 turns from now

As ever it kinda comes down to prioritisation there is so much stuff to do and only so many dice to do it with. Like unless we go negative on meat stuff I'd prioritise all of the following before increasing production. In no specific order: Fortifying all the passes, storehalls for all our materials, Building up the west peak for engineers/stonemasons and prepping it for carpenters, building up the east peak for the brewers/farmers, expanding/fortifying the leadbeard/greatmantle halls, expanding and decorating the training hall, building up Karaz Urbad.

yea l get that and it is great having a plan a head of time. l was just airing what l found as something we should think about and having a talk about it as would improve plans and make the quest feel more alive with an active discussion.

l like the idea of finishing the upgraded walls off followed by karaz urbad then clan halls for new clans but after that l would like to see meat that is just my persion view on things as l think we can wait longer before doing the expanding and decoration actions a little bit

but thats just me and would be nice seeing what other people priority's would be

By the way people, do not get overboard with your hopes for pop growt.
Species of mammals with a 3:1 gender ratio struggle immensly to raise numbers even in good situations.
Evry Dawi woman will need to have in average like 4.1 or 4.2 children just to mantain population numbers (without considering stuff like big wars).
And to "grow" them it gets even harder, since around one in three males has children even if a family were to have a hig number of males it will only afect pop numbers for one generation.
Plus with only three kids we haven't really send a message as the royal court (again 4 is the minimum to mantain).
I will consider a great succes even two new bearlding dice, (plus the 6 we started with).
One extra will still be a good succes.
Meat will be produced after pop growt for me and my estimates.
@Jreengus are you sure you want to move the farmers away from the door?
They are the one who use it most.

I want to make them a new door in their new peak. If we want to free up space in the north peak we need to move clans out over the other mountains and the food halls are all super basic, to the point it's cheaper to remake them in a new peak than to run all the improvement projects.

I know, but ultimately forcing all traffic to go through a super long journey under the valley to the north peak in order to exit the hold is not realistically feasible. I view entrances into all four mountains as an inevitability as the hold expands.

I was against it as a weak point, but now there is no army even close to threat us, at best creatures from underground and if we get rich enough Smaug.
So as long as our walls are all up and fortification done and placed on all the main roads underground this something I will agree to.

From a Biology perspective those Dwarf reproduction rates make little sense.
In-fact I don't think the Dwarfs would have been able to expand as a species like they did during the Golden Age with such overly lopsided sex ratios.

I think while acknowledging that part of lore, it can be safely tweaked so it makes more sense.
As in they skew a little more male than female, but otherwise most are expected to marry and have children to pass on the clan legacy to the next generation.
