Terrene Spire - Gently ended.

I don't think this was because of us? I mean, by the end Lavie was repeating "dirt throne", and nobody said anything about a throne. Plus, these are the same teeth that appeared when we got the prophecy about "the heir returning to the throne in the fortress", paraphrasing, which certainly wasn't anything anybody said before it showed up. And as Crafter pointed out, it'd require Dex to outright lie to us instead of just keeping quiet about it.

Lastly, it'd be strange for the GM to punish people because the quest got too popular. I mean, that sounds like it'd encourage a really toxic attitude among the voters:
"Stop voting, we already have more than enough!" "But the option I want is losing!" "So what? That's a shit choice, you'll just get us killed" "No it isn't! Yours is far worse! What if X and Y happens!?" "Mine already has all the votes it needs. What, do you want Lavie to get his brain broken again? Just accept you got there late and don't make things worse for everyone else. You can vote next time, if you get there early" "Well, how about you take back your vote, then!? I have as much of a right to vote as you! And who do you think you are, bossing people around!?"
and so on and so forth, forever until a mod gets the banhammer. It wouldn't be any fun for the voters, Dex or the mods.

Considering that it's us, then yes there is something we can do about that
yeah but im concerned of this happening constantly if there's too many voters. which, considering how popular the quest is, could be entirely possible.

that and i'm not sure we're fully aware of what the other forum dex posts this quest on is voting

After Zirin pointed out this may not have been us, I got curious and decided to check the last set of votes. What I found was... well:
[X]"Is that a giant Glimmercite crystal?"
-[X]"Also I seem to be at like... 2 energy. Um, help?"

-[X] "Uhhh...what happened to this place? Is it even safe to go inside?"
-[X] "Kinda low on energy, any thoughts on how to improve that before doing anything else?"
-[X] "Is it possible at all to revive those that are lost using the halos? I mean I died before and came back to a big coffin after all, granted I didn't become a Eishalon, but would it be worth a try? Assuming you haven't tried already in the past."
-[X] "Would you be willing to be my guide through this place or do I have to go about this on my own?"

Very worrying. In the last round of votes, there wasn't a single vote referring dirt or throne, at ALL.

These are all the votes from Eagle Time for the last update:
>How come the eishalons aren't regenerating even though their masks are intact? Do the red cross bolts keep them from doing that?
Kindly ask what is that, and why is it doing that.
This has got to be the freakiest graveyard you've ever seen. If nothing else, you might wanna ask Deava why there's a lot of time-space glitching going on here.
No mention of dirt either. And while we did probably vote "get the dirt" at some some point (when we accepted the quest, or maybe when we left the village), it'd be strange for it to suddenly take effect now. It'd be like Lavie suddenly leaving, going all the way back to the old car and possesing it again, just because once we voted for it.

...

Okay? That's uh, worrying as fuck.

Also: Votes from previous rounds *are not lost*. They carry over.

This might also be true though. How long was it that we voted to go dirt hunting and how aggressive were we about it?

Because the trigger might preform similar to like, I don't know, a seal in Naruto, or some kind of late release mind control ala Winter Soldier?

Simply put the whole episode might not have happened at all if we voted in ways during the Daeva arc that took us away from the entry way to the dirt. Once the dirt was 'in sight' our little ghost friend simply, well, turned off and the old votes took control?

I'm not sure how you vote "aggresively"? Do you mean that the votes were voted urgently or something like that?
And yeah, this probably wouldn't have happened if we hadn't gone looking for the dirt (though with the prophecy and "heir" stuff, who knows), but then we would be leaving the little plant guy to die, and seemingly just because of laziness or fear. I can't see that having nice consequences either, or the players choosing that. It's not like we could have known this would happen at the time, after all. Heck, there's no way we could have known this could happen before this update.
I think it's pretty safe to say that this is part of the plot and was gonna happen no matter what we did, like Red turning into an Eishalon. If we could avoid all conflict by acting with a little common sense there wouldn't be a plot, just fantasy world tourism.

I think it's more a consequence of a lot of players consistently bringing up beelining it for the dirt over a long time, possibly due to a continued misunderstanding of how time works.

To be fair, time works strange in this quest. Where it's been, uh, quite a while since the last update from our perspective, time was effectively in stasis where Zest and Daeva is concerned.

Well shit.

Sorry Zest, if this was us direct like. Gotta say, it's a bit unintuitive, but as far as discovery mechanics go it's a pretty keen demo. Also, from a plot and such perspective, definitely keeps us from "SIT HERE AND ABSORB ALL OF THE KNOWLEDGE YOU NEED TO SO YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY FUCK UP" which while useful, also tends to be boring as hell.

People, read the background as we get locked in.

"Something is affecting the Hearth from the outside"

Remember what set up our HUD? A Hearth Coal.

wait... wasn't there a rule where if someone initiates combat with you while you're [cycle]ing, you get pulled out of the cycle?
(if so, couldn't the Deva A) initiate combat himself or B) lure someone else into initiating combat with you?)

Right, attack your friend whom not only is stronger than you, but may also be possessed by eldritch demons. See how well that turns out for you.

I'm not saying that it's a bad idea (except in the moral sense, because seriously, attacking your friend because it might help them? That's not exactly nice) just that there may be reasons as to why he didn't.

He could initiate a combat and intentionally not fight. The point of initiation in this case isn't the fight itself but to "game the game" as it were. Like, use fight actions to throw food at us and wait actions to talk, while we use wait actions to eat and talk ourselves.

Yeah, but he doesn't know that Zest won't fight.

....Is the Deva actually weaker then us though? he was able to throw dex, seems very good at motion, knows the lay of the land, could prepare before attacking, and if nothing else, is very good at keeping Dex from seeing anything. plus, he could box himself in with chests then use an extended limb to initiate combat, or take the higher ground... his possession or matter mold ( i forget) where also like +9, he's been around for a long time, and he litterally runs the combat system. plus, even if he can't fight us directly, he could like. trick a frog or something.

Also, can't we still talk to the Deva? I mean, he talked to us while we were far away, could affect dex's inner monologue, made the illusions, use the hudworks... and he can observe dex, so we can just have him speak out loud if he has a question.

Also also, not related to recent things, but did anyone notice that in the mortapedia, there's a series of orange diamonds, and if you click in the location the lower-left one would be for any of the drop-down-except-its-up-not-down things, it closes it and goes to a blank background aside from the section buttons on the bottom?

Eh, florp it. I waited long enough, it shouldn't count as a doublepost any more and I'm told people don't care either way.
I made a picture.
It may or may not be impossible for such a thing to exist, but who knows?
I called it 'Manifest of folly' because I feel like the only way for it to exist would be if someone made a big mistake, and folly sounds cooler then mistake.
and it would exist as a direct result of whatever mistake, so manifest.
...this probably doesn't follow the rules for an eishalon's actually name though. I think something said it was 'emotion felt most strongly at time of death', which would make this only possible if whoever made it realized their mistake right before transforming... and if that was it, it begs the question of why there are three masks and two coronal relics and rainbow body.
well, whatever. i made it, and it exists.

Heyo, looks like I'm jumping on the fan-art train! Here's a couple versions of a landscape, shattered by war and desolate under the light of an eclipse.

Yeah, this wasn't us, this was that side-ways mouth thing from before piping up and drawing us in to the fortress...
Yoooo it totally is! I had forgotten about the spooky sideways mouth! In the dialog boxes in the most recent update, you can see the word "DIRT" flashing behind the text, and it's written in the same font as the sideways mouth used when it talked. Nice detective work Zaealix!

The adventure is looking as awesome as ever Dex, keep up the good work! It's amazing how you manage to portray Zest's emotional state so effectively, especially when he barely even has a face :lol
