Nope I actually disagree with that, I wouldn't call it poorly thought, but more a of a gut felt vote,
Because to me the situation is obvious, that person who build all that up didn't make it to trap us (there are many ways easier to do so) but to welcome us, the guardian wants to meet us, to make us feel welcome and to become our friend, despite the obvious signs of battle and in order to do so he covers up the damage and the death, so that we won't feel unease
that isn't flowey here trying to trap &kill us but Papyrus trying to give us the best greeting possible
