We have tried communicating, and it is not like we did much to specificy the eshalon as the one we were talking to. Odds are that anything willing or capable of responding would have assumed we were talking to them and replied by now.
It's not a sure thing, but the odds of meaningfully interacting with whatever is responsible for this seem slim at best.

Maybe I'm missing something but the Eishalon (if it is one) looks pretty dead to me.
Like Skewfiend said, if something here wanted to talk to us then it probably would have at this point. Better to move on and find the dirt before the kid dies for good. We can come back and explore later if we want to.

I think that whatever made the welcoming party was actually trying to be nice. It was probably just covering up the dead things to try and avoid traumatizing us; after all, none of the illusions were actually hiding a trap.

No worries; I barely even noticed (partially because I was already assuming there was something wrong with its arm and/or torso), but once I spotted it I thought there might be some hidden clue there.
