Taking the Mickey: A Save Disney Quest

@Shadowhope

For plan Arabian Nights, why not move the outdoor food courts into the red zone? They're a lot closer to everything else that way, but still away from the AMC theater.

[X] Plan Arabian Nights
-[X] Give Steve the go ahead to open up a Disney Store, complete JAN-FEB-MAR 1986. Board Approval based on success.
-[X] Free With a Park Ticket. This is slightly more profitable, and gives a solid benefit for people visiting the parks.
-[X] Just After Midnight. This is a good middle ground for the monorail to be a primary service for the Disney Marketplace. People coming out of the movies or a late night at the Hard Rock Cafe would appreciate being able to catch a monorail back into the city if they were from Orlando, although this makes it easier for guests on property to spend the night out at Orlando. Set at 1am.

[X] RED
--[X]Virgin Megastore
--[X] Hard Rock Cafe

[X] ORANGE
--[X] Orlando Monorail Line
---[X] Sound proof as much as possible so that the sound doesn't disturb customers in the World of Disney.
--[X] World of Disney
---[X]Have the monorail run through the World of Disney store.

-[X] BLUE
--[X] Outdoor Food Court
---[X] Make it Disney themed of course. Have a few interactive art pieces here and there to keep people entertained while eating.

-[X] PURPLE
--[X] Mini Legoland
--[X] Miniature Golf Course
--[X] AMC Theaters
---[X] Negotiate with AMC to potentially have a rotating schedule of filling at minimum one showing slot with a different old Disney Movie every week. People loved it when we opened the vault, they should love it if we bring them back to the theatre, even if only at one location and only for a week. Once we run out of old films, then simply keep them on rotation.

You're back at the contemporary resort, getting ready to give the press conference on the new expansion to the Walt Disney World Village. Or rather, The Disney Marketplace, as it's going to be called. Some of the people you're working with on the expansion are here with you, or have sent representatives, but it'll still be you leading the presentation. It hardly feels like any time at all before you're back up in front of the press, cameras rolling with the presentation screens on either side of you.

The crowd goes silent as you begin talking, with the Walt Disney World Village logo on the screens. "So, the last time we were all here, I mentioned that a monorail line would be built out to the Walt Disney World Village." There are some murmurs as the screens switch over to showing the planned monorail line. "This time, I'm here to talk about the plans we have for the area based on the increased accessibility that the monorail will bring."

There's plenty of interest on display as the screens switch to the image of the new logo. "The Disney Marketplace." You say. "A full revitalization of the area, bringing new shops, dining, and experiences to the district." You continue as a broad overview of the expansion shows, before zooming in on the western edge. "The monorail line on property will connect to the west side, with a large open air food court for guests to enjoy on the waterfront. The perfect place to grab a bite to eat before heading back to the parks." Concept art goes up, to appreciative whispers. "There will be various characters walking around, and plenty of interactive elements for guests to enjoy."

You take a few moments for that to sink in before moving on. "To cover the area between the monorail and the current area of shops, we've worked closely with Lego and AMC to provide an experience that you won't be able to find anywhere else." This time, it actually takes several minutes for the crowd to quiet down enough for you to continue. "We're pleased to announce that the Legoland portion of Lego is working with us." Several of the pre-built models are put on display. "There's going to be a walkthrough area with each of the current four Disney parks lovingly depicted in Lego bricks, as well as a miniature golf course built out of Lego and based on the parks as well." Some more concept art goes up. "Just be careful on the EPCOT course's back nine, the World Showcase Lagoon makes for one heck of a water hazard." There's a good amount of chuckling. "On top of that, we've reached a deal with Lego to start production on some Disney based sets. If you ever wanted a chance to build Cinderella Castle out of Lego, now you'll have that chance." The completed version of the model is shown on screen, with you and Kjeld shaking hands in the background.

You let that image sink in for a bit, then move on. "Of course, that's not the only planned expansion we have in that area." The AMC theater logo pops up. "We're going to have a complete set of theaters in the area as well, with the occasional rotation of classic Disney films being available." There's a smattering of applause for this, as the concept art for theaters is shown. They're all classical style theaters, throwing back to the fifties.

You press on after a moment. "Of course, while we're keeping the current shops in tact, we are expanding on the current shopping district's offerings as well." A map of the current shopping village goes up, with the new combination Hard Rock Cafe and Virgin Megastore marked off. "We've got Hard Rock Cafe coming in, and they've partnered with Virgin Megastore." You can tell some of the press are excited, practically vibrating in their seats. "With an outlook onto the Village Lake, with a stage directly in front, this is going to be the place to congregate for rock for years to come." A couple of artist sketches are shown, with pyrotechnics shooting off the stage into the lake, the building behind them lit up with crowds eagerly watching the concert. "This zone is targeted more towards the older crowd, as we're hoping to expand the offerings Disney has for a more mature audience."

"And on the far eastern end, we're excited to bring to you the World of Disney, a store specifically for Disney merchandise." That gets a lot more of a reaction than you expected, as the proposed store front is put on screen. "If you've ever wanted a place to get official Disney products, all in one place, well…" A new sketch, this time of shelves filled with various Disney merch. "This will be that place." There's a lot of applause for this. "Now, while all these expansions aren't set to be open until September next year, we're also going to be opening up our own chain of stores like the World of Disney. The first of these is scheduled to open in the Glendale Galleria, in California, this February." A wall of noise springs forth as the reporters start to ask questions, and it takes you a good chunk of time to quiet them all down.

"Of course, this expansion will be a major part of the Walt Disney World resort." Some of the reporters look ready to start asking questions again, so you quickly continue. "But we wanted this to be more than just an expansion for the Reedy Creek Improvement District." You gesture towards the representatives from Orlando. "That's why, with the help of Orlando, we're going to be building a monorail line from the eastern edge directly to Orlando." There's silence as the crowd takes this in, so you keep talking before they start making more noise. "The monorail will have trains arriving every fifteen minutes, and run from six in the morning until an hour after midnight." The concept sketches of the World of Disney with a monorail running through it is shown, before more images detailing the actual route of the line are displayed. "The monorail itself will be free with a park ticket to any of the Disney parks, or for a small fee without."

This time, there's no stopping the reporters as they all start asking questions all at once, and you do your best to make sure questions get directed to the appropriate source. All told, it's a massive success for a press conference, and you're confident that the board will be pleased.

+5 Board Approval for press conference, large PR boost. Expansion now underway, will finish construction September of 1986.

A Mickey Market

Disney has announced massive expansion plans to the current Walt Disney World Village, as well as a renaming of the area to the Disney Marketplace. Among the names they've pulled in for this project are Lego, Hard Rock Cafe, and Virgin Megastore, fueling excitement for the area. Given the recent moves that Disney has made, it's certainly looking like Walt Disney World is going to become a world vacation destination with the likes of Paris or New York City within the decade.

Russians in the Rhine

While nothing concrete has been shown, rumors continue to circulate that the recent setbacks at Disney World were the result of USSR interference in the Rhine River Cruise project. While both Disney and the CIA have refused to comment, sources close to the matter have said that the CIA has offered assistance to Disney should they run into any more such issues. With the other rumors of a planned expansion into Europe by the company… Continued on page 2, Russians in the Rhine.

Stars Testify About Emotional Toll of Farm Crisis

Three movie stars who played distressed farm wives offered sometimes tearful testimony to congressional Democrats Monday about the emotional toll being exacted by America's agriculture crisis.

"It is heartbreaking to witness their anguish as they watch their lives being stripped away." Jessica Lange, who starred in the film "Country," said through tears as she spoke to a dozen Democratic congressmen on the party's House farm task force.

AN: The third headline is taken straight from a paper at the time, as the quote block indicates. It's not the entire article, but just the opening statements. You can expect Turn 4 to go up in 24 hours or so.

I wonder if, in the later stages of the USSR, Gorbachev would be receptive to a deal regarding showing Disney films in the USSR, like how McDonald's was allowed to open in 1990.

Considering that Chernobyl's set to go off in Turn 4 (APR-MAY-JUN 1986, right?), we should probably wait a few years before going anyway close to Russia and the Ukraine.

However, Czechoslovakia and Poland would be good alternatives if we want to set something up anyway.

Well yeah, I did say the McDonald's thing was in 1990. They wouldn't be willing to accept Disney, a major face of American cultural dominance, as early as 1986. For that matter, Czechoslovakia and Poland won't be options unless Gorbachev either warms up to allowing western businesses more quickly among the Warsaw Pact and applies pressure (which seems like it would be ahistorical), or the deposition of the Communist governments happens earlier than in 1989 and 1990 respectively.

{} - Improve the Disney Channel, by the end of 1985

After everything that's happened last quarter, you're hoping that this one is a bit quieter. And less involved with the CIA. You've got a couple of new things to work on for the board, even if one of those things was something you were already doing, so you should probably make sure you're in good shape to finish all those up before the end of the year. Of course, it seems like your plans to improve the Disney Channel may have hit a snag, since the new president there is panicking about something. At any rate, you've also got to deal with the fact that Don Bluth has started becoming enmeshed in office politics. Hopefully that won't cause too many issues. Beyond all that, work continues on the new hotel, the Disney Marketplace is under construction, and Steve's working on the new Disney store concept out in Glendale. Here's hoping you can you can finish your first year with a bang!

-------------------------------------------

You've hit some stumbling blocks with the Tomorrowland renovations recently, but you've set a goal for yourself to get the planning done by the end of the year. Nothing for it but to keep plugging away. You haven't interacted too much with the employees since the strike, but they've been diligent in keeping things running smoothly without your input.

-[] A New Gate, California: The theme parks are currently some 70% of your revenue. Adding another park at one of your existing locations is only prudent, you already own the land and know the area. Still, it's harder here than Florida, for obvious reasons. You'd have to replace the parking lot wholesale, or buy up a good chunk of land at truly exorbitant prices. Will trigger park planning subvotes upon completing this stage.

DC: 15 per success, requires 25 total successes to move out of the planning stage.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking.

-[] Refurbishments, California: It might be time for some of those classic rides to get a face lift. There's no need to replace any just yet, but a touch up could go a long way… Up to 3 rides per action.

DC: 15 per ride being refurbished.

Benefits: Increased reliability, chance of popularity bump.

-[] Replacements, California: On second thought, though, it might be better to get ahead of the curve and bring in something new in place of one of the older rides. It might mean a bit more work, but if you get this right it'll last much longer than a simple face lift could. Up to 1 ride per park per year. Ride will be determined in subvote upon reaching half the needed successes.

DC: 10 per success, requires 10 successes for a remodel of the same track and ride vehicle to complete, or 20 for a complete knock down and replacement (old ride removal will not occur until 10th success with this option).

Benefits: New ride, likely to be popular and reliable on open. Chance of PR hit depending on the popularity of ride replaced.

-[] Build A New Ride, California: On third thought, you could just build something entirely new where there's space. No one loses a favorite ride, everyone gets something new! The only loser is your wallet… Up to one per park per year. Ride will be determined in subvote upon reaching half the needed successes.

DC: 15 per success, requires 15 successes to complete.

Benefits: Increased park draw. Other bonuses dependent on ride type.

-[] Tomorrow's Tomorrowland: The future just isn't what it used to be, and never has that been more apparent than Tomorrowland. It's time for a major redesign of this section of the park, in order to keep it from becoming wildly outdated. You have Frontierland for that.

DC: 15 per success, requires 30 successes. Currently: 10/30 successes, +5 to rolls.

Benefits: Automatic refurbishment of all rides in Tomorrowland, with updates to bring them in line with a more modern look at the future. May replace up to 3 rides in Tomorrowland with no chance of PR hit, does not count towards yearly ride replacement limit. May build 1 new ride in Tomorrowland, does not count towards yearly ride build limit. Massive PR boost. +5 to Eisner/Disney relationship. One ride replacement or the new ride must be Star Tours.

-[] Clean Cars: Autopia's cars are more than a little out of date, and could use some upgrades. If you can figure out a good way to remove the need for gas from them, that would be a major benefit as well.

DC: 35

Benefits: Increased ride reliability and popularity, good PR from conservation efforts. +5 to Eisner/Disney relationship.

-[] I Have Altered the Deal: It's really late, but maybe you should try and give the workers at Disneyland a better deal. It would have been more effective earlier, but you did have a lot to do. Still, that's no reason to avoid doing it now. Happy workers, happy park.

DC: 70.

Benefits: -10 board favor. +5% ride popularity/reliability to all rides.

-[] Video Killed The Radio Star: You know what Disneyland really needs? A hit teen dance club! Wait, where are you all going? Guys? Guys, come back!

DC: 35.

Benefits: Build Videopolis, an open-air teen dance club. Slightly increased park attendance.

Some of the rides here are showing their age, but mostly they've all been kept in good shape. The incident with the submarines seems to have sparked a keener interest in ride safety, so nothing's deteriorated. The submarines still have issues, but they're not flooding the utilidoors. Might be worthwhile to look into the skyway, now. That, or keep shoring up the water rides.

-[] Refurbishments, Magic Kingdom: It might be time for some of those classic rides to get a face lift. There's no need to replace any just yet, but a touch up could go a long way… Up to 3 rides per action.

DC: 15 per ride being refurbished.

Benefits: Increased reliability, chance of popularity bump.

-[] Replacements, Magic Kingdom: On second thought, though, it might be better to get ahead of the curve and bring in something new in place of one of the older rides.

-[] Build A New Ride, Magic Kingdom: On third thought, you could just build something entirely new where there's space.

-[] Flights of the Future, Flights of Fantasy: The skyway between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland is not in the greatest shape, and what's more, it's not particularly appealing as is. It might be worth looking into a way to improve the ride, whether that ends up being updated vehicles with more capacity or a better method of loading and unloading to make the process smoother.

DC: 55.

Benefits: Increased popularity and reliability of Skyway attraction, increased park draw. Increased park capacity from being better able to handle moving guests from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland without clogging up footpaths.

-[] Wet and Mild: The submarines are up and running again, but it might be worthwhile to research better methods of waterproofing for all your water rides. This might even help with waterproofing in general.

DC: (40-10) 30.

Benefits: +5% reliability to all water based rides. -10 DC on Cutting Edge Hurricane Proofing.

You're so close to finishing the Rhine River Cruise that you can… well, you won't be tasting it, but you can certainly smell the distinctive water ride smell. Everything else seems to be running smoothly, EPCOT is still a fairly new park and you've seen a constant flow of visitors. There's a bit less repeat visits than you'd like, but that's a problem for later, when attendance is actually falling because of it.

-[] Refurbishments, EPCOT: EPCOT hasn't really had too many problems yet, but it's never too soon to try and touch things up a bit. Even if there's not really a whole lot to touch up. Up to 3 rides per action.

DC: 25 per ride being refurbished.

Benefits: Increased reliability, chance of popularity bump.

-[] Replacements, EPCOT: Maybe the future isn't quite what we thought it was. Hopefully no one will notice if we just… replace this.

-[] Build A New Ride, EPCOT: EPCOT really could use another ride. And the ones already planned are… less than ideal, you think. Up to one per park per year. Ride will be determined in subvote upon reaching half the needed successes.

DC: 15 per success, requires 15 successes to complete.

Benefits: Increased park draw. Other bonuses dependent on ride type.

-[] A New Pavilion: The World Showcase isn't done yet, and filling it out can get you more visitors and international attention! Just don't step on any PR landmines. Up to one per year.

DC: 10 per success, requires 8 successes to complete.

Benefits: Increased park draw, PR boost with chosen country and increased attendance from that country.

-[] Finish the Rhine River Cruise: This was planned for the German pavilion, but a number of development setbacks have kept it from seeing the light of day. You've finally started making good progress on this, and the spooks have cleared out. You're still keeping a closer eye on things, though.

DC: 20 per success, 6/8 successes complete. Reroll any rolls below 10 this turn.

Benefits: Increased park draw, PR boost with Germany and increased attendance from Germany.

-[] The Mt. Fuji Coaster: The Japanese pavilion had a Mt. Fuji themed coaster planned, but the sheer expense made it infeasible. Or so you've been told. You think it's worth it, even if you can't get Fujifilm as a sponsor. Maybe this ride won't have as many issues as the Rhine River Cruise.

DC: 20 per success, requires 9 successes to complete.

Benefits: Increased park draw, PR boost with Japan and increased attendance from Japan.

-[] The Living Seas: There are plans for a massive aquarium in Future World West, and while it might take a bit longer to actually get all the work needed done, you think it'd be just the thing to really set EPCOT apart from every other theme park out there.

DC: 20 per success, requires 11 successes to complete.

Benefits: Increased park draw, PR boost from conservation efforts, slightly increased relationship with Roy.

-[] A Living Future: You think that a large aquarium is not quite what EPCOT needs, and it shouldn't take too much work to convert the space already cleared for it to a different ride. MUST BE TAKEN WITH PLAN A NEW RIDE OR HAVE A NEW RIDE PLANNED FIRST.

DC: 40.

Benefits: Skip Groundbreaking stage on a planned new ride. Lose all progress towards The Living Seas.

Your live action department is still in the process of switching over to singles and doubles, but the animation studio is hard at work and doing better than ever, from what you've heard. Jeff and Joe have floated the idea of a company outing to the premiere of "The Black Cauldron," it might be a nice way to ease office relations.

-[] The Cutting Room Floor: The live action department just released a massive flop. Maybe you should take a more personal hand in these matters, and help with some of the editing. May be taken once per film. Current films: "My Science Project" and "The Journey of Natty Gann"

DC: 20.

Bonus to quality roll for latest live action film, based on level of success.

-[] Lights! Camera! Camera Again!: It might be worthwhile to go to the live action studios and help out with some of their projects ahead of time. Your perspective on some reshoots would probably be appreciated. May be taken once per film. Upcoming films: "One Magic Christmas"

DC: 20.

Bonus to quality roll for next quarter's live action film, based on level of success.

-[] No Country For Farmers: You've missed the hearings. All that's left now is the endless congressional debates on how to interpret that information. You can still offer some support, but it's not going to be as effective. This time, it'd also be explicitly political, and not in favor of the current administration or their party. Still, though, it might be worth it.

DC: 65.

Benefits: +10 to all film quality rolls. ???. ???.

-[] The Disney Touch: Roy has a long history with animation. It might be worth it to try and get him and Jeff working together on improving the studio.

DC: (60-10) 50.

Benefits: +10 to Disney/Katzenberg relationship. +10 to all animated film quality rolls.

-[] The Don: Don Bluth has been talking about his ideas for some new animated films, and it sounds like he's got some good ones. It'd be worth it to hear out a few of his pitches.

DC: (20-10) 10.

Benefits: Add a Don Bluth film to upcoming releases, will have a +10 bonus to quality roll.

-[] Attend the Premiere of "The Black Cauldron": The animation department has worked hard on this. Make a company night out and have everyone attend the opening to show your support.

DC: (30-10) 20.

Benefits: +5 to all relationships.

The Disney Channel is finally turning a profit, although Jim stepped down and now John Cooke has the job as president. Strangely, though, John seems panicked about something. It's probably a good idea to find out what.

-[] Bringing Back the Magic: You don't have the same screen presence Walt has. You don't know if you ever will. But, with some acting lessons, maybe you can at least begin to make your own screen presence.

DC: 20.

Benefits: +10 to Disney/Eisner relationship.

-[] A Message of Conservation: You've brought back The Wonderful World of Disney, and there's no better platform for informing the public about the benefits of living with the land instead of against it.

DC: 15.

Benefits: +5 to Disney/Eisner relationship, +5 to all future conservation rolls.

-[] A Focus on Disney: Walt used the show to talk about his plans for the theme parks. It might not be a bad idea for you to do the same.

DC: 20.

Benefits: Increased park draw. +5 to all future park planning rolls.

-[] Figure out what's wrong with the Disney Channel: John Cooke, the new president of the channel, seems to be panicking about something. You aren't sure what's wrong, the Disney Channel has seen fairly consistent growth and just started turning a profit.

DC: 40.

Benefits: Address pressing issue with the Disney Channel. Unlocks more actions.

You're all set to start work on a power plant after securing the cooperation of Universal, so that needs to get done this turn. Beyond that, though, you've got Elizabeth continuing work on the new hotel, and John Avise has left you an excited message on the phone. Of course, you could also take the opportunity to look at opening another park...

-[] Go With What Works: It'd be cheaper than the alternatives, if less than ideal from a PR standpoint. Putting in a coal/gas based power plant isn't really what you want on property, but it'd get the job done.

DC: (20-20) 0.

Benefits: Reduced energy costs in Florida, PR hit, -5 Eisner/Disney relationship.

-[] Go Green: It'd be expensive, but putting in a solar farm at Reedy Creek could really bring your energy bill down. And hey, it'd be great PR.

DC: (40-20) 20.

Benefits: Reduced energy costs in Florida, big PR boost, +5 Eisner/Disney relationship.

-[] Go Glowing Green: It'd be even more expensive, and time consuming, but technically you do have (most of) the rights to establish a nuclear reactor here. This would massively drop your energy bill, maybe even let you sell some excess energy as you get a grid established. There just might be a tiny bit of public backlash. Just a smidge.

DC: (60-20) 40.

Benefits: Surplus of energy in Florida, enough to power at least 8 full scale parks and still have half left over, minimum. Chance for relationship hit with Roy. PR backlash from Florida, chance of losing some powers over the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

-[] The Real EPCOT: EPCOT wasn't supposed to be a park, it was supposed to be a city. The world may not have been ready for that when Walt proposed it, but now it just might be.

DC: 15 per success, requires 75 successes.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking Stage. +100 to Eisner/Disney relationship.

-[] A New Hotel: You're already working on one new hotel, but with how quickly you've been making progress on it, it might be worthwhile to start planning another.

DC: 10 per success, requires 10/15/20 successes, for value/moderate/deluxe level resort.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking Stage.

-[] Continue Groundbreaking (Disney's Animated Adventure): You made an incredible amount of progress on this last quarter, with Elizabeth really pulling through for you. Time to get this bit finished so Construction can proceed.

DC: 10 per success, 8/12 successes achieved.

Benefits: Move to Construction Stage. Excess Success will transfer to Construction.

-[] Opening Day (Disney Villas): This collection of smaller rooms is located right across from the newly christened Disney Marketplace, it might be worthwhile to have a small ceremony dedicating the official opening. Throw in a slight promotion to encourage stays and you might be able to boost numbers for the marketplace ahead of time.

DC: 25.

Benefits: Increase in stays at the Disney Villas, bonus to marketplace opening day.

-[] Public Transit: The Disney Transport system is solid, but could use some work. The buses could use an overhaul.

DC: 20.

Benefits: Increased income from longer resort stays, more guests remaining on property.

-[] A New Water Park: River Country is great, but it's started getting vastly overcrowded. Opening a second water park could help alleviate some of the crowds and act as a bigger draw. Will trigger park planning subvotes upon completing this stage.

DC: 15 per success, requires at least 10/20/30 successes, depending on the scale of park (River Country is an example of a 10 success park, Blizzard Beach would be an example of a 30 success park). Park Scale chosen in subvote on selecting option.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking Stage.

-[] A New Gate, Florida: The theme parks are currently some 70% of your revenue. Adding another park at one of your existing locations is only prudent, you already own the land and know the area. The best part here in Florida is that you already own just about all the land you could ever want. Will trigger park planning subvotes upon completing this stage.

DC: 15 per success, requires 25 total successes.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking.

-[] A Day In The Movies: Warner Bros. has talked about the plans for a movie pavilion at EPCOT, and it seems like they'd be interested in working with us to expand that concept to an entire park. You just need to hammer out some details first.

DC: 35.

Benefits: Gain Warner Bros. licenses and aid in building a new park dedicated to movies. Begin a new gate plan with 5 of 25 successes already complete, park based on movie studios.

-[] Cutting Edge Hurricane Proofing: There hasn't been a park closure from a storm yet, and you don't intend to have it happen on your watch. This might also help you understand how to better protect some of your water rides from normal wear and tear.

DC: 60.

Benefits: Increased protection from inclement weather. Complete Wet and Mild as well.

-[] Get in Touch With John Avise: John says he's got news for you on the sparrow breeding program. He sounded excited on the message he left for you, so it's probably good news. Might as well head out and see what's happening.

DC: N/A.

Reward: Find out what happened with the Dusky's Seaside Sparrow. Gain John Avise as a general adviser (+1 action) with +10 to conservation rolls and +5 to research rolls.

You've started planning a new resort, and it'd be good to keep that going. On top of that, with Don getting more involved in the office politics, it might be a good idea for you to take a personal hand in the matters as well.

-[] Make A Call: You still want to get in contact with someone from Frank's meeting back in March. It's not too late, not just yet, but you've got to get on this now if you want to get anywhere. Choose who you talk to as an extension of this vote.

DC: 40.

Benefits: Talk to one of the people who you didn't choose in "So When You Said Everyone…"

-[] A New Resort: With how well Tokyo Disney has been working out (and as much as the board groans about it), there's clearly a market for Disney parks overseas. You've already started looking into Europe, but you did still have hopes for an American history based park closer to home. Begins first step to opening a new resort.

DC: 15 per success, requires 50 total successes.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking.

-[] Continue Planning a New Resort (Europe?): You've started looking over some European locations, but nothing's really stood out so far. Turning down the CIA was a tough choice, but you still got a little bit of intel out of it.

DC: 15 per success, requires 50 total successes. 3/50 successes. +5 to rolls on this project. Reroll rolls below 10 for the next 4 turns.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking.

-[] Take a Vacation: Dealing with the spooks and the board has left you feeling a bit out of sorts. Maybe it's time to take a break.

DC: 10.

Benefits: Stress reduction.

-[] Office Politics: You haven't had as much time to devote to office politics lately, but you can't really keep ignoring it. Jeff and Roy seem about ready to fight, and with Don taking part now, you've got to try and keep everyone happy somehow. Can be taken twice.

DC: 10

Benefits: Improve your relationship with one of your coworkers. Potential to improve relationship with multiple coworkers or find an adviser if you roll well enough.

-[] Imagineers for IPs: You've got a solid tip that Universal would be willing to trade the rights to Oswald back to Disney for some time working with the imagineering staff. The board might not think it's worth the risk, but Oswald is an important part of Disney history.

DC: 30.

Benefits: Gain back the rights to Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit. +10 to Disney/Eisner relationship. -5 Board Approval. Universal has some time with the Disney Imagineers.

-[] Corporate Competition: You've heard that Universal is looking to open a park in Florida, and you think you have a good idea where. But it's always good to get confirmation, and you might even get a chance to figure out who they're looking to hire to actually build the thing.

DC: 65.

Benefits: Figure out more of Universal's strategy in Florida and obtain confirmation of details. Can leak these details to the press, driving up costs for Universal. Can also try to undercut other firms and offer a deal directly with Universal instead. +10 Board Approval.

-[] Personal Focus: Sometimes, that personal touch is what you really need. Can only be taken once per roll, but can be taken multiple times in a turn.

DC: N/A.

Benefits: +15 to a single other roll.

-[] Contact the CIA: You're hesitant to do this, but getting help from the spooks for whatever price they're asking might be worth it.

DC: N/A.

Benefits: Gain an offer from the CIA.

AN: 6 hour voting moratorium. Those of you wondering, you have not yet taken the action that leads to Captain Eo. It's still available, but you might want to get on it if that's what you're looking for. That's not to say that there won't be more chances at it in the future, but those may not happen for some time. Also something to note: Don Bluth has, after a quarter of milling around, been dragged kicking and screaming into office politics. How soon other advisers get pulled into the orbit of office politics is a matter of chance, but not always a bad thing. There are certain benefits to maintaining a positive office atmosphere, although the office is likely to run into more conflicts the more people there are involved. To counteract this, you may take the office politics action 1 additional time for every 2 people that join the pitched battle wonderful work environment. You are, as always, welcome and encouraged to ask questions.

Alright, so we're taking farmers and no altering the deal now right?

When can we support our people?

Gotta take a power plant option, work on the hotel, finish the rhine river cruise, plan a resort, work on Tomorrowland, and poke our noses into Disney Channel. That's 6 actions accounted for.

John Avise has results from our conservation program, I think that needs doing as it's +1 Adviser.

Two actions are locked into movies: Black Cauldron premiere seems mandatory because it'll hopefully be a great movie and be good for stress and office relationships. Maybe we could do no country for farmers with the other one if we're not afraid of the failure consequence?

If we fail the Altered the Deal or No Country for Farmers actions the in-universe narrative might be "lumbering corporate bureaucracy tries to help, is horribly out of touch".

[] Draft plan
-[] Some power plant option, probably Glowing Green (DC of only 40, and we have good PR right now!) [Free action 1]
-[] Continue Groundbreaking (Disney's Animated Adventure) [Reedy Creek bonus action]
-[] Finish the Rhine River Cruise [Free action 2]
-[] Continue Planning a New Resort (Europe?) [Free action 3]
-[] Tomorrow's Tomorrowland [Free action 4]
-[] Figure out what's wrong with the Disney Channel [Free action 5]
-[] Attend the Premiere of "The Black Cauldron" [Movie action 1]
-[] Some other movie action, probably No Country for Farmers [Movie action 2]
-[] Get in touch with John Avise [Free action 6]
-[] Unallocated action [Free action 7]
-[] Unallocated action [Free action 8]

--[] Personal focus: To be allocated [Personal Focus Bonus]

Actions I might fill the voids with:
-[] A second personal focus to be applied to some other action (because several things we might want to do have high DCs right now)
-[] I Have Altered the Deal (our people! @Keani)
-[] No Country for Farmers (our people! @Keani)
-[] Flights of the Future, Flights of Fantasy (We've been kind of ignoring Magic Kingdom a little bit)
-[] Wet and Mild (We've been kind of ignoring Magic Kingdom a little bit)
-[] Cutting Edge Hurricane Proofing (Maybe later, DC is kind of high)
-[] Public Transit (monorail can't be everywhere)
-[] A Focus on Disney / A Message of Conservation (The Disney Television actions seem like force multipliers that start stacking bonuses on other actions)

I think it is best we devote an action towards stopping Jef's relationships in the office from deteriorating as much. Slynnwen said near the start of this quest that the main thing for the darker parts of the Eisner era was feuding among the important people. We need to devote time to making sure the people we want around get along with each other rather than just Eisner alone.

So, -[] Office Politics ?
These are all the choices which could improve Jeff's relationships with others
-[] The Disney Touch: Roy has a long history with animation. It might be worth it to try and get him and Jeff working together on improving the studio.

DC: (60-10) 50.

Benefits: +10 to Disney/Katzenberg relationship. +10 to all animated film quality rolls.
-[] Attend the Premiere of "The Black Cauldron": The animation department has worked hard on this. Make a company night out and have everyone attend the opening to show your support.

DC: (30-10) 20.

Benefits: +5 to all relationships.

I want us to consider continuing what has been done for Don Bluths film:
East of the Sun and West of the Moon
I think that since production already started it's easier to pick up where it was left off in 1985
But I don't think we can do that this update.

If we do choose to go Glowing green then I want a personal focus on that.

What does everyone think about this proposal:

[X] Go green, Farmers, And have a meeting
-[X] Go Green [Free action 1]
-[X] Continue Groundbreaking (Disney's Animated Adventure) [Reedy Creek bonus action]
-[X] Finish the Rhine River Cruise [Free action 2]
-[X] Continue Planning a New Resort (Europe?) [Free action 3]
-[X] Tomorrow's Tomorrowland [Free action 4]
-[X] Figure out what's wrong with the Disney Channel [Free action 5]
-[X] Attend the Premiere of "The Black Cauldron" [Movie action 1]
-[X] No Country for Farmers [Movie action 2]
--[X] Personal focus: No Country for Farmers bonus action [Bonus action]
-[X] Get in touch with John Avise [Free action 6]

Base Action 1-6 and the Reedy Creek Bonus are to finish obligations, get Oswald's IP, Office Politics + Disney Touch + Black Cauldron Premiere for across the board relationship increases. Personal Focus on The Disney Touch, because right now it's a toss-up.

[X] Go green, Farmers, And have a meeting

I refuse plans that don't stand by our people and see nothing particularly wrong with this one.

we should probably use personal focus on these actions needed to complete the major board goals. Right now the risk of failing one OR MORE of them seems pretty high!

I think that we also should answer the (Europe?) question.

Where do we want our new park to be?
I myself would rather not a Medium to large park next to Paris, that seems to be shooting ourselves in the foot to me.
