I know I kinda-sorta hoped for this on some level... It does suck, though. Nuclear power, if managed well, could be a good long-term solution to power needs

That's not going to happen now. The Solar Boom is going to pick up the pace even more as people flee both fossil fuel and nuclear power. The USSR might fall sooner or more cleanly.
And thousands of people are going to die and tens or hundreds of thousands are going to sicken and a whole region is going to be poisoned.

It takes time to reach a level of acceptability for that. Black Cauldron getting high honors at the Oscars was the first push to ensure that animated products are taken more seriously than mere things for kids. We can begin pushing the letter as animation's reputation improves in that particular lane.
So we accidentally end the world because the background rolls go so poorly. That would be a crazy game over.
...I propose we get clean cheap energy as soon as possible and create world peace. Then when the world stops trying to destroy itself, we can then work on acquiring the Star Wars license and try not to turn it into a clusterfuck with too much modern politics in it.
It sounds like perfect endgame goals to me. The real question is which is harder, preventing nuclear annihilation or having Star Wars match Lucas's legacy.
