Super Robot Quest G

If we do get to turning construction vehicles into mechs, do we need to use a turn to requisition surplus items like everything else or can we just convert the ones the Engineer Corps used to fortify the base?

I suppose it depends if they're still in the Motorpool or if they got shuffled off to another job site. I could easily see a good chunk being on hand given the Proving Grounds and the need to rebuild labs though.

You would have to spend a turn on the after market/requisition action, yes. Comes with the benefit of specifying which ones you're specifically after though!

I am all for Space Battleship New Jersey, Iowa, or Wisconsin. I really want one for Humanities space going fleet to support the Gorshkov. Missouri is watching over Arizona and I don't want her anyway.

i think i'm gonna try and come up with my own plan for next turn, and try and get that sniper rifle going.

might not get much traction, but worth the attempt.

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

I am more going for Wave Motion gun like the Moonstone cannon of the Delphinus in Skies of Arcadia or the Yamato's Cannon in Space Battleship Yamato.
Point of (Nerd) Order: The Wave Motion Gun is the main gun and trope name for the Yamato's gun in SBY.

I'm sorry for the detail pick but you were Wrong on the Internet.

Actually I speak out of deliberate ignorance, I have never watched Space Battleship Yamato and only know enough through Osmosis to be able to answer some basic questions about the series. I more base my Space Battleship's cannon on the Moonstone Cannon from Skies of Arcadia Legends.

Hmmm You know, given the Breakthroughs with Faedium and how well it Syncs with C-Crystal, we could very well have a new bargaining chip to get more Space Tech from the Regency. We only really got to keep what it took to get the Gorshkov working, but our scientists saw a lot of other designs. Trading Faedium Fabrication for assistance in making a full Space Fleet, or at least an Escorts for the Gorshkov should be on the table.

And it's totally okay to not know. I'm honestly hoping more folks gain a greater appreciation for more shows as we progress through the quest.

To clarify. it's only the Live action SBY that I chose not to watch. I did watch some of the original animated series but never completed it. I didn't like what I saw when I watched some of the live action series on Youtube so I decided to not watch that one. I have watched every Gundam series minus a couple of the very minor obscure ones. I have watched Sky Girls which is a cross of Magical girls and mecha that I recommend. I've watched Macross and Robotech which is where the Seeker and the Gorshov come from. I have watched Mazinger, Gravion, And most importantly to me since it was what originally got me into Super Robot Mech genre. Voltron, The original Voltron that is.

A lot of people did start with Voltron (which the original Go-Lion run still holds up rather nicely today)!

I personally got started with Transformers Generation 1...and the original Power Rangers. Most of my time as a kid, I thought the original Megazord was the coolest thing ever.

Both shows taught me a core fact of life: giant robots are awesome.

for me it was Voltron than Transformers G1. I got into Power Rangers afterwards. I watched the very first Power Rangers episode way back when but I don't watch it anymore. I miss watching Voltron since the last one was in 2016 and there hasn't been any news on another series since then. I still watch Transformers regularly and Prime is my favorite. I just like that particular Continuity. But for me, Voltron was the coolest Super Robot ever. I know better know but that was when I was a small child living in the valley of the sun.

Since we already have a Hulk shootout in game, we should have a Spiderman one eventually.

But not just any Spiderman. Since this is a mech-centric game, clearly invoking the dreaded name of Supaidaman and Leopardon would lead to great and terrible things.

Triply so because its success is what gave rise to super sentai in the first place.

Oh god, you tried to poke the live action?

Yeah, that one was terrible. I'd suggest poking 2199, it's a remake of the OG animated series, but it's...

It's not 1-1 scene-faithful, but it gets the more important thing of the spirit of the OG show down solid. Including absolutely cracked out silly science. Asteroid armor!

Also if you want another cross of magical girls and Mecha go watch Symphogear. It's genuinely amazing.

But not just any Spiderman.
Some sort of a robot Spiderman! Arachnobot!

Or one of Sheol's escaped experiments - the Diving Bell Man! His arse is so hairy that it stays dry underwater

As for me, my first "Is this mecha or magical girl?" show was Lyrical Nanoha. I strongly suspect that 90% of almost everybody already knows of it, but there always could be somebody who hasn't watched it yet, so I might as well nostal... Er, introduce it.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ticks off most of the "Magical Girl" checklist, like the Four Enemy Generals, or the Brainiac Villan's Extradimensional Lair. But it also has decidedly super-robot-ish amount of Lazerbeam Dogfights, and Breaking the Limits via the Heartfluttering Powers of Math (and friendship, but generally it's all AI-assisted math). There isn't quite enough of Hotblooded Facepunching for my liking, but there's some, and even gattai, but mostly in the third season, which left me wanting for more.

Could y'all talk for a bit about how those other two shows are so mecha? Or is it better done off-thread?

mine was the Original Sailor Moon, god I was so young back then. To be honest. I didn't really get into Anime until I watched Thunder cats and Robotech when they were playing in the same toonami block hour slot on Cartoon Network in 97/98 I had watched Voltron but it was more of a Saturday morning cartoon thing and I was a kid and didn't know better.

I've watched it. And it's sequels. I actually like Striker S the most.

Pretty sure it's all right. We do have a Magical girl of our own in the DFRI and it is a Mech show quest so I think it's okay.

Naming a future mech AI Takuya Parker as a nod to both Japanese and Western Spidermen would be pretty cheeky at least.

And fits with Ichiro Banner's naming convention too.

That's funny enough that I also want to do it, Sure why not. Next Ai gets that as a Name. and it's even thematically appropriate too.

If we name our Flying Mech series after birds, the Huckebein will not cause confusion right?
