Super Robot Quest G

Hmm Cape for Beuwolf Fenrir to see if it can fly again instead of just jumping good?

Edit: BTW Thoughts in sending both Pegasus and Sleipnir againt the Westphalian base since theres little risk of both ships getting totalled and attacking with Full Force means we can get more out of the attack.

I will return to lobbying for an attempt to figure out the connecting principle underlying ESP. It may or may not work, directly, as intended, but a good analogy is the electromagnetic spectrum. Without knowing why the things act like they do you have to feel them out one by one. If you have a model you can predict what properties different sections (ESP, C-Crystals) have.

I still say we should try integrating Petrawing mesh onto propeller/turbine blades for atmospheric flight units.

Now that we have integrated Faedium with C-Crystal, the next step is integrating with Kausen Energy Shards. But if the Kausen eat them, would it be a new culinary experience?

Also, apparently Katarina's not the only sister fixated on the cape idea.
If we're doing this, why not just combine it with the rocket booster? Just swap out the chemical propellant for a faedium-ion burn or something instead? The cape would probably be able to act as a rudder/vernier able to handle the stresses if we go at it hard enough.

A rocket powered Seeker variant would actually be quite ideal for Space Combat

...Was this supposed to refer to Katarina and not Ivanna?

Anyway, apparently Mary baffled the Regency by successfully inventing mass-produced C-Crystals. Fun! And also has the Regency demanding that we start another recruitment drive for mad scientists that have been rejected by traditionalists, but unfortunately I'm not sure we've got a way to contact them.

Should still ask around for that sort of thing though; think I said before, but the Marines might be a good place to start looking for a naval engineer, and could potentially yield aeronautics engineers too.

According to Ivanna, the Crocalisk scale operates mostly the same as Sample Zero. The only difference as predicted was that it leaves a hollow internal space inside, no matter what the shape or purpose. The idea of an exploding spike, however, is proving tricky - she has a workaround, but it's not terribly efficient.
What about ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor) for our mechs as a shield or on mechanical arms that automatically block blows like Sundowner from Metal Gear Rising?

I'll point out again that Ivanna's assessment outright says that the Crocalisk Scales are a promising candidate for the Special Weapons delivery pod system. I would really like to take the low hanging fruit of combining it with the Rocket Delivery and Pterawing into one complete project, before throwing it at the wall of more esoteric ideas to see if it sticks or not.

When we go snooping around other branches to poach talents, it might make things easier if someone wore a C Crystal as an "ordinary" accessory so it can scan around and point out piloting candidates much easier besides the scientists/engineers we're intent on poaching.

The Regency's response was to later contact you and ask just how many more 'failed' projects were lurking around on the planet.

Your answer of 'yes' did not amuse it. No matter how honest it was.
This is reinforcing my idea of liaising with the academic board, to maybe get some more leads on more experts to hire (or at least, turn away from villainy).
Also, if our idea that the Westphalians have their own superscience expert behind them (probably some teleportation tech), liaising on failed or snubbed experts may give us a lead on who that might be and where they may be now.

Now that I think of it. There's nothing stopping us/the DFRI from just building an Super Robot Sized Seeker. We know the concept works. Only the Super Robot Seeker would have Zirvitium Armor, Kaiju Scale tech, and more installed.

Not sure where we would put the Arc Blade since that blade is standard equipment to the Super robot. Maybe instead of having an Arc Blade we turn the Super Robot Seeker into a gun platform. well more of a Gun platform than it is already.

I am fully on board with building a flying Super Robot since we need it. The only downside to the Super Robot Seeker is that right now I don't think any of the other Mech's in the roster can configure into the Super Robot Seeker without disrupting it's flight profile so much that flight is disabled and thus can't fly.

OTOH there's nothing stopping us from just having said Super Robot Seeker just be a one form Super Robot. I mean it would already have 3 configuration forms like the smaller stock Seekers do. So making it be combinable with other Mech's might be redundant.

Personally, I'd like to liaise with the EU Academic Review Board - both to get a measure of who exactly is throwing out all these visionaries, and maybe get records to see if there are any other dismissed experts with ideas we can integrate. And hey, if we can prevent another snubbed genius from turning into the next Sheol, all the better.
Or maybe find some that are really crazy, and get them to ally with Sheol, which would create a self-collapsing singularity of pure scientific insanity!

On a more serious note, I'm half-remembering the story about Phlogiston theory, which explained the process of burning, and how it's proponents resisted the theory that resulted in the discovery of oxygen. Long story short, idiocy seems to be a malady that affects all humans, no matter how smart; and mocking any "crazy theories" that go against the established science is an established academic process.

If it were anyone else, you might worry that they were developing a fixation and a sunk cost fallacy regarding the ESP Channeling theory. A one off result that only seemed to replicate itself whenever it felt like it, but were so fascinating or vexing that the rest of the research grant's budget was ultimately sunk into trying to find that one specific result.

Thankfully, this is Sam Carlson, this is super science, and you now have budgets of 'yes.'
At first I thought this part is written in the usual style of Sam Carlson's reports - that is, as if it's Sam Carlson himself speaking it - and so I've read it in (what I imagine to be) the usual style of Sam Carlson's speech. That was... An experience.

You know with all this talk about making more Super Robot programs have we never considered that there might be more things for Super Robots to fight emerging?

So I've got a lengthy weekend shift upcoming, so the next turn post will likely happen middle of next week.

In the meantime however, I'll give you all a quick choice of interlude. Those who have been here since the first thread might recognize this.

Very tiny mini-vote.

[] A New Armsrace
[] The Tyrant's Grasp
[] The King's Drastic Measures
[] Great Strides

I keep the titles relatively vague, but it will give a look into what other factions are up to so far.

Given the sheer breathe of prototypes and one offs the Westphalians have been fielding, experts and eccentrics snubbed by the main stream science boards and/or laughed out of their fields of work are probably a pretty big recruitment pipelines for Westphalia's build teams.

Given how deeply Westphalian infiltration goes I wouldn't be surprised if whatever review board/academic board thats around has Westphalian agents in it looking to nudge people into being vulnerable to Westphalian recruitment efforts.

[X] A New Armsrace

I feel like the King's Drastic Measures will turn out to be little more than a Westphalia interlude from The Red King's POV.

That's why I vote for it

[] A New Armsrace

Too broad could be anything

[] The Tyrant's Grasp

Which Tyrant...... Probably The Free Brothers

[X] The King's Drastic Measures

Probably the Red King

[] Great Strides

I suddenly think this might be about Kaiju.

New Armsrace could potentially be Ground Pound, though I won't guarantee it.

Great Strides, meanwhile, I have a hunch might involve Yukimura designing a successor unit to Mercury in the spirit of Great Mazinger. Sheol seems likely, too, though.
