the final update of Suffer Not
So, it sounds like this story may be wrapping up in the near future. If so, I'll be terribly sad to see it go - Dahlia is a treasure whose journey I've watched avidly, and Praxis is both a rockin' MC and embodies a spin on the WH40k universe I never knew I wanted but is now cemented as my personal canon. Nonetheless, nothing good comes of trying to stand in the way of an author's muse, so if this is their end, so be it. But if you ever desire to return to these characters or this version of the WH40k 'verse, you'll have an avid reader in me.

RIP. Would but that we could have had more time together. Genuinely loved this lens on the 40k setting and the wonderful disaster lesbians/disaster pansexuals/disaster disastersexuals who inhabit it.

[X] Plan Praxis in Motion
-[X] Araleth says that their Craftworld is loosely associated with the famed Eldar corsair Idraros, who holds the gilded banner of Saint Gwynine as a trophy. Seeing it returned to Valdor would be a good assurance. (Hard)
--[X] Spend 1 Stress
-[X] Go through the Order Hospitalliers and see if these plagues have taken root beyond Valdor. (Hard)
-[X] Get in contact with the Void Stalkers chapter fighting in the Agripinaa sector, and get a full report of the scale of the fighting. (Hard)
-[X] Write In: Use Ordo Hereticus contacts/databases to collate reports on incidence of Chaos cult activity in systems (especially strategically significant ones) around the Eye to try to prove there's been a recent increase. (Normal Contacts)
-[X] Find out as much as possible about the High Lord from other sources, so that you can butter him up more easily and avoid possible missteps. (Impossible)
-[X] Make nice with the demonhunter, and see if you can get him to confirm or deny the demonic nature of the plague. (Impossible)
-[X] Go to the Governor and whip their plague-fighting efforts into shape. If you have things more under control here, you'll look more competent. (Hard, will involve subsequent decisions and checks)
-[X] Convince de Villarreal to pitch in more with your side of things, specifically in using his authority to bring in resources and spread the blame a little. (Hard)
-[X] Get in good with the Lord High Admiral's son. If he likes you, perhaps the Admiral would be more willing to listen. (variable difficulty)
-[X] Get Marvel-Ann to help you sort out the whole thing with the mutants and the STC. It'll further demonstrate your competence and you can hint that Araleth led you to it. (Hard)

I'm going to need rolls on all these. Because the amount of stress being spent (none save the first) is listed in the plan, you may roll them in a post.

Ooh, we're back! Rolling in post as that was approved.

Edit: oof, not good luck on that second roll. I'm, uh, gonna let somebody else roll some?

People have been hesitant to spend stress, because they're convinced that they'll need it later, IIRC.

Given it's a fail forward system I feel like this is them being too paranoid but well, that's how it goes.

Actually, looking at things the plan that is in Sketch's post doesn't match with the actual plan, which has more stress spending.

We need 3 extra dice rolls.

1 on demonhunter,
1 on Lord Admiral
1 on Marvel An

There's a problem though, in that the tally did not pick up the plan correctly. The plan actually contains more stress spending.

Gonna try to guesstimate how many of these we succeeded on, mainly to occupy myself/relieve some of my tension from waiting.
Araleth says that their Craftworld is loosely associated with the famed Eldar corsair Idraros, who holds the gilded banner of Saint Gwynine as a trophy. Seeing it returned to Valdor would be a good assurance. (Hard)
Hard is a base difficulty of 8+, rolled a 9 so we succeeded without even needing to do any extra calculations.
Go through the Order Hospitalliers and see if these plagues have taken root beyond Valdor. (Hard)
Rolled a 1, we failed.
Get in contact with the Void Stalkers chapter fighting in the Agripinaa sector, and get a full report of the scale of the fighting. (Hard)
Rolled a 1, we failed.
Write In: Use Ordo Hereticus contacts/databases to collate reports on incidence of Chaos cult activity in systems (especially strategically significant ones) around the Eye to try to prove there's been a recent increase. (Normal Contacts)
Normal is a starting difficulty of 6+. We have a Contacts of 3, so we only needed 3+. As long as at least one of our skills applied - maybe Trade: Manager or Trade: Spy, or Talent: Logistics or something - we actually succeeded even with rolling a 2. So here's hoping it's ruled one of our skills applied.
Find out as much as possible about the High Lord from other sources, so that you can butter him up more easily and avoid possible missteps. (Impossible)
Impossible is a base difficulty of 10+, but since it's impossible to have an attribute lower than 1 rolling a 9 means we succeeded regardless of which attribute is ruled to apply here (I'm guessing probably Contacts).
Make nice with the demonhunter, and see if you can get him to confirm or deny the demonic nature of the plague. (Impossible)
Base difficulty of 10+, but thankfully we actually did spend a Stress on this one and the second roll got a 7. Since all our Social attributes are either 3 or 4, that means we succeeded here even before factoring in that I'm almost certain at least one of our skills applied here.
Go to the Governor and whip their plague-fighting efforts into shape. If you have things more under control here, you'll look more competent. (Hard, will involve subsequent decisions and checks)
Base difficulty of 8+ and we rolled a 7, so factoring in [whichever] attribute means we succeeded. We'll still have to deal with the "subsequent decisions and checks" though.
Convince de Villarreal to pitch in more with your side of things, specifically in using his authority to bring in resources and spread the blame a little. (Hard)
Base difficulty of 8+ again and we rolled a 5, but we actually probably still succeeded since as aforementioned all our Social attributes are either 3 or 4 even before factoring in whether any of our skills applied here.
Get in good with the Lord High Admiral's son. If he likes you, perhaps the Admiral would be more willing to listen. (variable difficulty)
"Variable difficulty" means I have no idea if we succeeded, because I don't know what our target number was. If it was Normal (6+) we definitely succeeded, if it was Hard (8+) we maybe/probably succeeded, and if it was Impossible (10+) there's a chance we succeeded but it would need to be a Charm check that at least two of our skills applied to. Even though the second roll was only 1 higher, that's actually still potentially pretty significant here depending on what the difficulty actually was.
Get Marvel-Ann to help you sort out the whole thing with the mutants and the STC. It'll further demonstrate your competence and you can hint that Araleth led you to it. (Hard)
Again, very happy we spent a Stress here. Base difficulty of 8+ means that 9 succeeds without even needing to look at our character sheet.

Final tally:
6 definitely/almost definitely succeeded, 1 of those will require further decisions and checks
2 maybe succeeded
2 definitely failed

So, I'm thinking we actually did significantly better than it initially looked like, after we factored in the extra dice.
