It's more likely that the Company of Judgment is a militia organized around some ambitious priest of the Imperial Cult.

Alright this is pretty locked in, so lets move to part 2.

What method does Praxis use for this? Create a plan with as many as you want, remember you'll need to make a roll for each.

[ ] Try to find an agent by discovering whatever channels are used to gather recruits. As a local, Lothar Greven can pose as an interested citizen. (Tactics roll)
[ ] Hit up the PDF and see if they've taken any of them alive. Try to get an interview with them. (Contacts roll)
[ ] Be bold, broadcast that you're an Imperial Inquisitor and you'd like to talk to the Company and (Hard Presence roll)
[ ] Do some old-school investigative work and see if you can track down some of their members directly. (Hard Intelligence roll)
[ ] Write In

I think one soft option and one hard could work - it's more obvious, potentially, but it could distract them from our agent too if we get one.

Thoughts?

We also need to think about how to set it up for the purpose of Stress/Strain/etc. Putting too many eggs in one categories could mean we spend too much of it too early and don't have it later, when things get desperate. So the best option in that sense would to be have a decent spread of actions.

With the Hard Intelligence roll, we'd almost certainly have to spend at least one of our five Strain, because our Int is 2, so 8-2=DC 6.

You will have the chance to vote to take a break and reorganize, clearing your penalties with RP, but that'll always let your enemies move against you.

[X] Dip our toes...
-[] Try to find an agent by discovering whatever channels are used to gather recruits. As a local, Lothar Greven can pose as an interested citizen. (Tactics roll)
--[] Lothar Greven should be encouraging, should go along with their arguments to see where they end up in order to get a better feel for where they go when they aren't challenged.
-[] Hit up the PDF and see if they've taken any of them alive. Try to get an interview with them. (Contacts roll)
--[] If you can get an interview, play the one goading them. People so often want to be heard, and so challenging them a *little* but not too much might make them reveal more than expected, and shows how they respond to verbal challenges.
--[] While you're at it, have they done any previous interviews of their own? Are there transcripts you could look through. Sometimes an outside perspective can be interesting... and it also helps tell you what interests the PDF about the situation.

I'm very, very unsure of this, so I'd honestly rather people talk about it than mindlessly vote for it. But if we're going to use two different approaches, we should vary up in some way what we're hoping to do with each.

Keeping it simple. We don't have enough information to pick a better approach.

And that's fair enough! Though I do think that an interesting point is that there has to be transcripts/recordings of at least some of the interviews.

You-you-you can't just drop something like that and just leave it. Tell me more about Kharn's literary aspirations and Guilliman fucking up!

For once, the /tg/ memes are half right: Kharn actually was a pretty cool guy. Probably the man most talented at dealing with his father's issues, Kharn helped keep the World Eaters legion together, and had friends across the legions, from a close friendship with Sigismund, (later founder of the Black Templars), to a borderline-romantic relationship with Argel Tal of the Word Bearers.

Of course, he couldn't outrun the Nails forever, and Erebus murdering Argel Tal in cold blood pretty much pushed him over the edge.

Re: Kharn's histories,

"The moment Angron was given mastery over us, we stopped being what the Emperor wanted, and became what our father wanted instead. How could He have not foreseen the madness to come when it was He who made it happen? Or did He even care, so long as we spilt the blood that He needed spilled to expand His realm? If you desire to cast fault for the path that the XII Legion embarked upon, the true blame could be placed nowhere other than at the Throne of Terra, at His feet."

~ Eighth Captain Kharn, from his unpublished treatise The Eighteen Legions

From Angron: Slave of Nuceria, by Ian St. Martin

Re: Guilliman fucking up. After the Word Bearers triggered the Ruinstorm to cut the eastern rim of the galaxy off from Terra and generally make warp travel difficult, Guilliman found a Necron relic capable of serving as a second, temporary, Astronominican. Unfortunately, the relic burned so bright in the warp, it caught the eyes of the Tyranids far away from the galaxy, and while they were looking they saw the Astronominican, and then they saw dinner.

Okay this wins. Please roll the Tactics and Contacts roll now. Remember to post the results.
