I'm not trying to call you out or anything. I'm saying all this because I'm curious how you intend to solve it. As I've stated before, I'm entirely willing to just accept "Canon is dumb. That fact is not true here". You could MAKE the 8 gates something new, that Gai's dad made. You could make it more complex than just opening tenketsu. You could make the lower gates carry more penalties. I'm just curious what you will do, because it's another area where Canon is a bit of a mess (though a lot less messy than other areas).

can i be completely honest: I've only got a little bit of the mechanics behind the gates written down, as I was planning to have a little bit more time to get some of that bookkeeping done after the Kyuubi incident and I just finishing up a timeline that is... for a lack of a better word: Sensible.
I prefer to get some storytelling in a way so I can tell a good story before I get to fix all sorts of inconsistencies in the whole... Gate stuff.

Teaching the 8 Gates to everyone is a very stupid idea. [I believe that] The 8 Gates is a technique that is only known to and fiercely guarded by Gai because he knows how powerful it is. His dad took on the 7 Swordsmen of the Mist using that technique. That is an incredible amount of power which he isn't stupid enough to just give to everyone. Torture exists and all it will take is one broken Jonin to lose valuable information and jutsus to other nations. Imagine a village like the Hidden Mist, you don't think if they had this technique, they would train a team of ninja to turn into a suicide squad to destroy their opponents.
Hell, I don't think we have enough charisma to actually convince Gai to teach us and the time spent on getting him to take us as an apprentice will be way too long.

Uh...it makes perfect sense why the Hyuuga don't go into the Gates? The Gates basically bust the limiters open, which would make their entire fighting style obsolete, when they're all about precise, controlled Chakra application.
And also noting that even the first three Gates fuck your body up. They make you physically better in the short term, but at the cost of increased body damage, aggravated fatigue and more. You need to be incredibly healthy to begin with to avoid the Gates crippling you with the backlash.
This is opposed to the Hyuuga's entire strategy based around a superb sustain game where they out-defend their opponent, spend less chakra doing so than their foes spend to attack and keep stacking debuffs whenever they make a mistake.

While it makes sense why Guy didn't teach Neji or Tenten any of the Gate's, why didn't he teach the some other techniques that could have helped them get stronger. People always say Kakashi was a completely biased Sensei with Sasuke, when really all of the known Sensei were biased with one particular student. Asuma with Shikamaru, Kurenai with Hinata and Guy with Lee.
Neji didn't want any as far as I can tell. He seems likely convinced Hyuuga techs had all he needed. And he wasn't too far wrong.
Tenten...she got all those sealed scrolls of endless dakka, and is unlikely to have learned the necessary stuff without guidance.

But I agree, they were all extremely biased, making them partially bad at their jobs as teachers. Let's be real here, some teachers were just bad and unlike Kakashi, didn't have screentime to make up for that mistake. Let's see...Minato left his team basically dysfunctional and relying on an arrogant and cold Kakashi, while Obito and Rin were worth fuck all in a fight against adult ninjas, getting Obito to being Madara's pawn and Rin killed. All of that because of the war and Minato not having the time to babysit three kids with unresolved problems and doing cool shit to protect his village. As great as Minato was, he clearly made a massive mistake.
Look, I love Minato, but this is just my reading into the situation. Shallow and oversimplified, I know, but that's just my way of reading things.
On another note, have Villages never heard of Therapy? Because people like Sasuke, Itachi and Kakashi need a shit load of it. Hell Sasuke was actually showing signs of recovery till his own brother mind raped him.

Too immature a topic of study. Keeping in mind that any kind of therapy besides "Tough it out", "Get Drunk/Drugs" or "Get lots of sex" were very sparse until very recently, the best you got was some kind of priest assuring you that everything is good.
We should probably introduce therapy to the Village, then al problems will be solved.

I actually saw this addressed in one story (well, not Sasuke's problems). Therapists did exist in that fic, but they weren't ninjas. The incidents that lead to them being traumatized were also usually classified as fuck, meaning there weren't a whole lot of therapists that had the clearance to actually talk to them about it.
Has anyone ever read "The sociopathy of Sasuke Uchiha" by "Sir Lucifer Morningstar"? Cause that is one great fic that shows how mentally broken Sasuke is.
Actually the period appropriate conditioning to deal with that is probably to systematically dehumanize the enemy, or glorify their position so they don't think too much about the horrors.

I have, and I only have one thing to say: Itachi, Hiruzen, and especially Danzo. You guys are so fucked it's not even funny anymore. That Sasuke scares the ever living shit out of me in more ways that I though possible, especially when considering his bullshiting "trait" gained, cortesy of Itachi's personal tough-love treatment, personalized just for lil' brother for three days straight. The result was just adorable. Though it's not really bullshit when considering what the Sharingan can do...
Good luck with Konoha dealing with that hot mess, because I don't think that there is a shrink qualified enough for that.
