The Party Finale
The Party Finale:

You looked up to the rafters and felt the man's presence up there. He was looking down, stressful energy radiating from his body, prepared to jump in at an instance to protect… someone in this room.

It was not the Hokage, nor Kushina, nor any of the other people that you knew were members of the ninja forces. They were skilled enough to protect themselves…

Was he protecting you, Itachi and Hana?

That seemed rather odd. With so many ninjas around in the entire area, it would seem prudent that he wouldn't need to be here.

Or was here without orders, and the Hokage decided that he could stay, and be reprimed later.

But why he was here did not matter to you. You saw how lonely he was, sitting up there alone. That would not do.

You looked up and saw that there was no easy way up to the rafters… at least an easy way without getting caught by your parents.

So, you decided to make a distraction. You took a deep breath and walked into one of the side rooms.

You were about to knock over a few chairs when the Dog appeared out of nowhere, stopping you from doing the act of mischief.

The masked man wore a dog mask, and he glared, crossing his arms. He was tall, but he wasn't as tall as your father. His uniform was filled with holes, and his gloves had a few dark stains on them.

He did not make a sound, as he pointed to the room where the party was being held.

"Hello." You replied, giving him a wave.

Dog leaned forward and pointed to the party room.

"Sorry, but I can't do that." You replied.

Dog than facepalmed, and walked forward, to drag you towards the party.

"You don't want to be here… don't you?" You stated, causing Dog to freeze, and glare at you behind his mask.

You nodded. "You feel as though you don't have anyone left in your life to help you, so you look for something to kill you, because you don't want to be alone anymore."

Dog was silent. You could see his hands tremble as he took a deep breath. "You aren't alone." You stated.

"Stop." He whispered, and you heard how young that voice was. "Please stop talking… and go back to your parents."

You stood there, offering your hand. "My name is Shiro."

The man did not take it. "Dog." He replied.

"I hope we meet again Dog." You stated.

You turned around and saw Lord Hokage standing at the doorway, looking at you and Dog. "Come on Shiro, it's time for cake." He paused, looking at the man in the room with you. "Dog."

Dog gave a quick bow, before disappearing into the shadows as if his very presence was a danger.

You looked towards Lord Hokage. "Did you know he was here?" You asked.

"Yes." He replied calmly, as he escorted you towards the cake about to be served.

"Do you know why he is sad?" You asked.

"Unfortunately." Lord Hokage replied. "But I know he will be okay."

You wanted to protest, to tell him that Dog was not going to be okay. But it was the Hokage you were talking to. He must have had a plan.

The rest of the party went very well after that interaction with Dog. The cake was delicious, and Itachi celebrated another year alive.

Reward: Itachi considers you a curiosity, and wishes to spend time with you, given the chance, before the academy.

Dog ponders your words and wishes to speak with you again… in the future.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your father gave a small smile as he spoke to you. "Alright Shiro, I want you to bring your chakra together now. When that happens, I want you to activate the Byakugan, okay? We are going to find out what your starting range is so we can train from there."

You nodded. "Okay."

He took a deep breath as you felt the energy within your body, swirling in both your stomach and in your eyes.

Your eyes activated, the veins in your eyes bulging out of your head.

Byakugan: 1D100 => 100

And you saw everything. So many moving bodies, birds, trees, humans… all of their chakras could be seen by you, in real-time.

The farthest you saw, was a treehouse, a very very long distance away, where you saw five people preparing, standing over something…

And tunnel, a tunnel beneath Konoha going to a large cave underneath… someplace.

"How much do you see?" Your father asked.

"I don't know… I don't know!?" You replied... frightened, not being able to answer.

You turned them off, and sat down, covering your eyes.

"It's alright. It's alright!" Your father held you in his arms. "It's alright."

You calmed down, taking several deep breaths. "There was a treehouse, with people inside, looking over something." You replied. "That was the farthest thing."

Your father nodded. "I'll find out where that is. You must have seen something pretty far."

"Maybe." You replied.

Reward: Your Byakugan has a range of over 20 miles. +10 to dodge rolls currently.

-[X]Train Chakra Control: With your Chakra now unlocked, your mother wants you to have as much control as you can have for a growing boy. Rolled:1D100 => 25+10=35

You were going to train your Chakra control… but you decided that you wanted to play with Itachi instead.

Your mother understood, and she really wanted you to make friends. Although you did feel a sense of… annoyance radiating off her as she said be home by dinner.

You felt the need to be home by dinner.

Failure.

-[X]Best Friends: Itachi wants to play with you at the playground. You think. Rolled:1D100 => 80+10 (Memories of ???)=90

Itachi was waiting near the sandbox, sticking his toes into the sand while he waited for you. "Hello." You called out to him.

He looked up to you, and he gave a small, curious glare. "Hello." He replied.

There was a breath of silence as you sat down next to him, allowing yourself a little room, as to not make him feel uncomfortable.

You sat silently for a moment, before Itachi asked. "Do you… have any plans for becoming a ninja?"

You raised an eyebrow. "No… not particularly. Why?"

Itachi's face became deflated, his eyes narrowing. "I… don't know why."

"Why do you want to become a ninja?" You asked.

Itachi flinched, before he replied. "I need to bring honor and glory to my clan."

"Do you want to become a ninja?" You asked. "As in, was it your own choice."

Itachi frowned. "No." He whispered.

"If it was not your choice, why do you not protest it?" You asked.

Itachi frowned, his mind was deep in thought. "Because it is the only way I can bring peace."

His answer surprised you. "You want to bring peace to this world?"

Itachi nodded. "My father showed me a scene from the war… a mountain of corpses, a river of blood, choking the world. Violence tears this world apart… I just… I do not want such a terrible fate being brought down upon others."

You narrowed your eyes. "Your father is a fool."

"Excuse me?" Itachi was shocked that you said something so callously. "You don't even know my father."

"You are correct. And my statement is true even with that lack of knowledge…" You paused. "Bringing peace to the world isn't as simple as being the greatest fighter, the greatest leader. It doesn't matter, because something needs to unite all the carying peoples, traditions and cultures. There needs to be trust, a willingness to talk, even if the slight warrants war." You paused. "This world thrives on conflict… thrives on chaos and death. To bring peace to the world, you have to change what causes it to thrive." You looked to Itachi. "Do you have an idea on how to change the world?"

Itachi nodded. "I don't know. But what I do know is this… We are part of something greater than clans, than rivalries. We are a community...but we do not trust each other. And without that trust… we will die, be lost to the annals of history."

You nodded. "You are correct. We still divide ourselves… The first step to a better world is obvious."

"Bring us together...as one." Itachi stated. "Stop the divide… allow ourselves to truly become a unified village."

You smiled. "Do you still not know if you want to be a ninja?" Itachi asked.

You grinned even bigger. "Maybe… but we still have time to do this without any repercussions."

"Do what?" Itachi asked, confused.

"This." You than dove into the sand, and began to dig. "I'll make a better sandcastle than you!"

Itachi grinned. "Your on!"

Reward: You and Itachi are now friends. You have planted the seeds of an idea into Itachi's head.

The academy gains a +30 to the rolls when you are 5 in training rolls.

-[X]Dog Days: You ran into Dog again… you have no idea why he is walking out in the open, you thought ANBU could use the rooftops? Rolled:1D100 => 89+10(Memories of ???)=99

Dog was… standing at a stone by the graveyard. He stood there, even as the night began to fall over the village.

You walked besides him. "Hello Dog." You whispered, causing the ninja to look down at you behind the mask. "Are you okay?"

Dog said nothing, before looking back at the stone.

"Your friends died during the war… didn't they?" You asked.

A nod was your only answer.

"Do you come here often to visit them?" You asked.

Another nod, but this time, he looked at you. "Why are you here?" He asked.

"Because you were alone… I hate people who are alone. They usually have something to say… and have no one to say it to." You replied.

"How old are you kid?" He asked.

"3… I'm about to turn 4 in a month." You replied.

He looked down and looked up, examining you. "You're a Hyuga?" He stated.

"I am." You replied.

"That explains it." He said again, looking back at the stone. "I can't talk to you kid, I know things that if I said aloud, I'd have to kill you, damn the consequences."

"Than don't talk about that… talk about something you can." You replied.

"Are you a therapist?" Dog said bluntly.

"No… I'm someone who will listen to you talk… and that's all you want… you keep on hiding things in your head with no one to listen, except yourself. Something weighs you down and you can't pull it off you. I'm not trying to do that… only you can do that. I can only listen." you replied.

"You don't sound like a three-year-old." Dog stated.

"I know, that's what people tell me sometimes…But that does not matter, I just want to help people." You replied. "And you look you need help… now more than ever.

Dog sighed. "Alright. Listen."

Dog told you a story, about three children and their sensei. One of the children was happy, always wanting to help others, no matter the circumstances. He wanted to become Hokage, and prove all of those who doubted him wrong. Another was a girl who loved her team and tried everything she could to keep it together and stop them from tearing it apart. The last child was a boy who lost his father, and ran away inside himself, into the rules, into the life his father lived… hoping one day he would meet him again. He was always alone. The happy boy and the boy who was lonely hated each other, their conflicting views and goals conflicting with each other. The girl tried to keep the peace, but sometimes failed. Their sensei always reminding them of their duty.

In time, the lonely boy found that the happy boy and the girl who kept them all together were people he could trust… and maybe he would not be alone anymore.

War occurred and they had to fight… and their sensei trusted them to complete a mission that would end a war.

The girl was kidnapped, and the lonely boy wanted to complete the mission. But the happy boy refused, saying that 'Those who abandon their friends are worse than trash'

The lonely boy… went with his friend, because it was the right thing to do. They saved the girl… but the happy body did not survive. He was buried underneath a pile of rubble.

His last wish was to give his eye to the lonely boy… a gift for being his friend, and to protect the girl.

They survived only due to the thanks of their Sensei coming to help them.

A few months later, the girl and boy went on a mission, and the girl was captured again, and the boy, using his friends' gift, found her.

But it was too late. A monster was inside her, and she was going to release it the moment she was inside the village.

The lonely boy tried to save her… but he could not. She forced him to kill her… wanting to not harm her home.

He did not know what happened… only those who had hurt her were corpses around him. His sensei rescuing him soon after.

He was alone again… with only three people left in his life that made him keep living his life.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

You looked up to Dog. "I'm sorry." You stated.

Dog… seemed relieved. "Don't be… it's in the past now."

He took a deep breath. "Thank you Shiro."

"I never told you my name?" You replied with fear.

Dog nodded. "You are correct. But you're the only Hyuga that has more empathy than sense."

"Being born crippled and getting to use my arms after trial and error allows me to understand people who have been hurt a little better." You replied. "And thank you for allowing me to listen to you Dog."

"Kakashi." he stated. "My name is Kakashi."

He then gave a wave. "I'll see you around kid."

He then disappeared in a gust of wind.

Reward: Kakashi now views you… as a friend? A confidant? You do not know. But he trusts you, which is more than most people in the world can say.

New Action is available.

Retirement:

(Kakashi POV)

You took several breaths before the final buzz hit you, and the terror went away. The mission was over, the enemy was dead.

"Dog, you alright?" Cat asked as you stopped your heavy labored breaths.

You realized where you were right now… you were back at HQ. The battlefield was far far away. So many missions… so little rest.

You slumped against the wall, closing your eyes as you calm yourself down. You were starting to lose your grip… your touch.

Or was it because you couldn't stop thinking about that boy. Shiro.

You had done some surveillance on the kid, with what little free time you still had with your duties here in ANBU.

He was… a gentle child, at least that was the vibes that you got off of him. A gentle child who seemed very capable, despite the first few years of life without the use of his arms.

He was kind, and open, both with himself and to others. He was… far better than he ought to be. That boy, humiliated, picked on, and pitied by his clan… nevertheless had an empathy with him that made him… not care about what others thought about him.

That boy, was good. Far too good for the rotten world that he inhabited.

He listened… when others did not care. He waited, and came forward, when others ignored, and saw weakness, that boy came forward, and understood.

You hadn't felt that way since before Obito died… since Rin died. He did not judge, did not hide his displeasure or fear.

Shiro Hyuga… just listened. He listened and said words that made you feel alive again. Like all the tragedy you have suffered in your life was going to be okay in the end.

But it was in his words that you see what you had become. A broken, hollowed out, a husk of a man, waiting to die, to see his friends again, after so long.

It was something you always were since your father died. And it sickened you… It made you wish to rage against your father's cowardness, of him stealing his own life instead of trying to make amends for his mistakes.

But that was a road you long since traveled… all you felt was sadness. The lessons you learned from Rin, and Obito, and Minato showed you one important thing.

It was impossible to live this life alone, to wall yourself up and never let anyone inside.

It was too exhausting… to… You didn't know the words.

But you made your choice. And would have to live with it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Lord Hokage." You said quietly, as you walked into his office. All the guards were in their positions, and all relaxed when they saw it was just you.

Minato-Sensei looked up from his paperwork. "Yes Dog?" He asked, instinctively. "Do you have a report for me? Or is this a social call like at the party?"

You removed your mask and handed over the paperwork. Your resignation from ANBU.

Minato-Sensei looked down at the paperwork. "I see. Very well." He replied with a small smile rising on his lips. "Why the sudden change of heart? If you don't mind me asking?"

You sighed. "I… don't know." You thought back to the boy, and your friend's ghosts standing beside you… standing by him. "I've had my fill."

Minato-Sensei nodded. "Very well Kakashi." He saw the other paperwork beneath your resignation forms. "Medical leave?"

"I-" You paused. "I'd rather be fully healthy, before I continue with my duties sir, and get another physical evaluation."

Minato-Sensei nodded again. "Very well… dismissed."

You vanished from the office with a gust of leaves. You knew Minato and the other guards would not have minded that sudden exit.

They owed you that much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You went to the only place where someone still cared about you.

You knocked on the door, and Might Gai answered, still shaking off the sleep from his eyes. "Kakashi?" He said confused and unsure of what to say next. "What are you doing here?" He asked, as he finally gathered his nerve.

"Gai… can I stay the night here?" You asked. There was nowhere else for you to go.

Not anymore.

"Sure Kakashi." Gai said your name without the youthful energy he always had. He understood what you needed.

A warm bed, and a friend to talk to.

Reward: Kakashi has resigned from ANBU and is on leave for a little while. Minato is secretly relieved.

AN: Enjoy this drastic change in canon.

A Time of Peace 2: Gifts of Love, Trust, and Life
A Time of Peace 2: Gifts of Love, Trust, and Life

[X]A Birthday Gift: Your father is giving you a gift. A very special gift. Rolled: 1D100 => 100

"Thank you for coming Lord Hokage. We don't have much time before the seals wear off, so we must be fast." Your father said as you rubbed your eyes. The quickness and movement from being carried by your father and the wind chill of moving at such speeds woke you from your slumber.

"Father, what is going on?" You whispered.

"Hush now Shiro… we need to remain quiet." He ordered. "Do you have everything you need?"

"Yes, thankfully, and you, Hiashi, owe me for doing this for you." Lord Hokage replied as he pulled out a seal brush. "Are you sure you want to do this Hizashi. If your clan finds out, they'll kill you?"

"I'd rather be dead than have my son be a slave to his own family." Your father replied with conviction.

"Please do this Minato." Your uncle's voice pierced the night. "I do not want another to suffer the same fate as my brother and countless others have. You have had all the time you need to study the seal… Please… Do not let another life be held by that blasted seal. We are no longer in a world where such cruelty is needed."

"Very well." Lord Hokage replied. "I need your son to be immobile for this."

Your father nodded, and he whispered a few words under his breath.

And the world became black, as you fell into an endless void in your mind.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you awoke, you felt your forehead wet with ink, and you were about to reach to wipe it off, but your father put your hands down, keeping them beside you. "It's alright. The seels is just connecting to your chakra coils, it should be finished shortly."

Your eyes went to your right and saw you Uncle Hiashi standing next to Lod Hokage, discussing something. "I did what I could." Lord Hokage Stated.

"And that is enough to soothe my guilty consciousness," Hiashi replied. "I thank you, Minato… You've saved generations pain and suffering with this work."

"I only hope your clan will understand the modifications I've made." He handed over a scroll. "The instructions are there."

"Thank you, Minato." Your father replied.

"Do not thank me yet. Hiashi still needs to find a way to break the news of a new seal for the clan without causing a civil war." Lord Hokage replied.

"The Branch House can be convinced if Hizashi supports it, and shows the effects," Hiashi replied. "But the main house might remove me from my position…. No, they might even kill me over it. We aren't known for our ability to adapt when we are not threatened."

"Don't worry about assassins brother." Your father gave a smile. "Can't be any worse than when I had to protect you as a kid."

The two brothers looked at each other and grinned, the trust they showed was there was greater than whatever animosity they had left, and all there was brotherly love.

"We have work to do than brother." Hiashi replied.

"Indeed." Your father replied.

You fell asleep, feeling tired.

Reward: Gain Trait: The Free Bird Seal: A modification of the caged bird seal used by the Hyuga clan, this seal provides many of the same protections that were in place with the Caged Bird… with one very notable exception. You are no longer bound to follow the orders of the Head of the Clan or a member of the Main House. (Your eyes will become useless upon your death.)

[]Train Chakra Control: With your Chakra now unlocked, your mother wants you to have as much control as you can have for a growing boy. Rolled:1D100 => 42+10=52

Your mother forced you to try a leaf sticking exercise, something that you tried, failed and tried again… Twice, before getting it.

It was the most boring twenty minutes of your life. And you were pleased to learn it.

Reward: Chakra control now at a Trainee Level.

[X]Silver Hair and an Offer: Kakashi showed up to your home with an offer. An offer that you didn't know you were eligible for. Rolled:1D100 => 100

Kakashi Hatake arrived at your home on a sunny day. He was wearing a jounin uniform, and… arrived unannounced during lunch.

"Kakashi?" Your mother was surprised that he appeared out of nowhere. "What are you doing here?" The rice she was serving nearly dropping onto the floor. But your father caught it and set it down.

"Apologies for my intrusion Lady Hyuga. But I could wait any longer to prepare a more formal invitation." He looked down at the food prepared. "May I join you for lunch?"

Your mother looked to your father, who glared at the young ninja that just barged into his house. "One question first. How did you get past the Guards?" He asked.

Kakashi put a hand behind his head and closed his one eye, his mask rising in a smile. "Jun and Yuri owed me a favor, I cashed it in."

Hizashi grimace. "And what favor would that be?"

"I'll never tell." Kakashi responded, as his eye opened.

Lunch was rather… dull… save for you wondering how Kakashi ate with his mask on… You asked but he deflected it every time, and some strange event caused you to look away before you saw his face. From a bird chirping to your mother slapping your hand, and your father sneezing.

Every moment where you thought you could see the man's face, something happened to distract you.

When Lunch ended, you and your family were waiting for the young Jounin to speak.

"Well… I'm waiting Kakashi?" Your father said. "What do you want to tell us?"

"I wish to take Shiro as my apprentice." Kakashi stated.

Your father's eyes twitched, and you felt murderous rage emanating from your mother. "You want to take our son as an apprentice. Who do you think you are, Orochimaru!" Your mother stated.

"No… I'm not Orochimaru. I can't offer you something that you don't have. I just believe he can learn from me… and maybe I can learn a few things from him." Kakashi stated.

"Are you going to leave the village?" Your mother asked. "Is he going to have to live with you?"

"No, he will not live with me… But we will leave the village once or twice, to meet with a blacksmith I know for some tools and gear." Kakashi replied.

Your father looked at you. "Shiro… do you wish to be Kakashi's apprentice?" He asked.

Do you wish to become Kakashi's Apprentice:

[]Yes: You will become Kakashi's Apprentice.

[]No: I'm sorry Kakashi, but I do not feel that is the right thing for me to do.

AN: Enjoy.

A Time of Peace 3: Welcome To A New World
A Time of Peace 3: Welcome To A New World

You arose as the sun rose overhead, as the grey morning light barely a glance over the horizon, as blue overtook the sky.

You took a few deep breaths before preparing yourself for the day. He wanted you to be prepared to rise early, at any moment. Of course, he never said anything about being late on the first day.

You got dressed and made sure your sandals were on tight on your feet, before walking through the clan halls.

The guards on duty, those that weren't asleep that was, were by the gate to the compound, playing a card game. Guard duty wasn't so much a duty but an obligation, and a way for some friends to be together without leaving the compound.

Kakashi-Sensei was waiting at the front, with a rucksack, a clock, and some other ninja tools. His mask was up, and his sole eye seemed dull, but filled with energy. His jounin flack jacket looked brand new, and his uniform in tip-top shape.

"Shiro, you are punctual." He replied. "You were supposed to be up by four in the morning."

"My father told me you were always late." You replied. "And that you always get lost on the road of life."

Kakashi-sensei's eyes closed, and you saw his mask rise with a smile. "It is a difficult road to cross. How are you?"

"I'm doing great." You bowed to him. "So what are we doing today Sensei?" You asked.

"You are running." He stated.

"Where?" You asked.

"You will have to follow me," Kakashi-Sensei replied. "Are you ready?"

You nodded and prepared yourself. "Yes, sir."

"Good." He replied. "Follow me."

Kakashi-Sensei than took off into a run, and you trailed behind, trying to at least keep sight of the silver-haired Jounin. But as you run, you feel tired. It was the hardest you had ever run before, and your lungs burned, your eyes watered and you felt droplets of sweat gather on your skin. Your clothes do little to keep you warm, as you tried to follow the now streak of silver… barely exert any effort into staying ahead of you.

You ran for what felt like hours through Konoha, as much of the world seemed to blur all around you. You were losing steam, but not losing sight of Kakashi-sensei, and you would not lose him.

But then, for a moment, you saw a black blur cross your path, nearly hitting you, and you had to stop.

But that second of lost focus made the silver streak disappeared.

You had lost Kakashi-Sensei.

"Stupid… something!" You found yourself blurting out as you looked around

"Don't panic," Atlas replied. "It won't help you in this situation."

"No kidding." You muttered.

"Keep your focus forward! Follow that cat!" Atlas ordered. You nodded, and ran forward, into the crowd.

You did, not seeing anything but people, and their surprised faces … and the streak of black looking back as if he was looking for something… or you for that matter were in front of you. You didn't know.

But then it stopped, it crossed the path of the road, and everyone was avoiding it like the plague.

You stopped in front of it and examined it. "What the heck?" You tried using the Byakugan on it, but it just showed itself to be a regular cat, walking along the road. So your eyes receded and the veins beside your eyes receded

But as you pressed your hand forward… you noticed that your hand wouldn't go forward… it was like it was hitting a wall.

It reminded you of the old saying. A black cat crosses your path was destined to give you bad luck.

So don't let it cross your path.

You smiled and turned to the right, towards an alleyway. You rushed through the cramped quarters, you looked around for anything noticeable that could help you figure out where Kakashi-Sensei was.

But as you made your way out to the street, you only saw an even bigger crowd of people there. The morning market rush was about to begin on Main street, and you needed to wade through the crowd.

But as you entered the street you found yourself being pushed, pulled or dragged.

"Move it, kid."

"Get out of the way?!"

"Where's your mother!? She should give you a thrashing for being out alone!?"

So many people… so many voices, it was… difficult to focus on, their voices, their bodies, their moods, and emotions… they were too much.

"Excuse me, dear?" You focused on a voice that was next to you. An old woman standing beside you. "Would you please be a dear and assist me for a moment?"

"Uh… sure." You replied.

"What are you doing? We should be finding your sensei?" Atlas stated.

"In a moment." You found yourself saying aloud.

"Is everything alright dear?" The old woman asked.

"Oh nothing, just talking to myself." You replied with a smile. "Where are you going?"

The old woman pointed. "Just across the street dear. Not anything difficult. Onto the Road of Life." She replied.

That made you think of Kakashi's excuse that he said. Getting lost on the road of life.

You deftly took the woman's hand and led her across the street, and the crowds pulled away, giving you room to walk across it.

As you reached across the street woman let go. "Thank you, dear." The woman replied. "Get to the end of the road of life, and you shall find what you seek."

You blinked and she was gone, into a shop that was just opened, behind window blinds.

"That was unhelpful." Atlas stated.

"Well, down the road of life we go." You muttered to yourself.

And down the road, you went… if you could call it a road. It was an alley in all but name, filled with red lanterns, and signs that said they served all sorts of vices and carnal pleasures.

Not a place for a child, but an apprentice of a ninja.

So you blocked them from your mind until you reached the end, and the alley forked.

"Left or right?" You said quietly to yourself.

"Left is due north, towards the Hokage monument, the academy, and the Administration building. Go right." Atlas replied.

You went right, and you looked at another maze of choices before you. Straight, left, or right this time.

"Which way?" You asked.

"Forward, keep going forward." Atlas replied.

You did that, and you kept running.

"Oi boy, what you doing out here all alone. Looking for ya mommy?" A drunken voice said as you ran.

It was… surreal, seeing all sorts of people in the alley. The drunks, prostitutes… even some genin after a bender were all laid out on the street, left where they lay they were thrown out.

But a moment later, you found your exit.

A large forest rose in front of you and waiting for you, was Kakashi-Sensei.

"Ah, my strange apprentice." His eye closed and he smiled underneath his mask. "You seem to be a little late?"

"I…" You paused and realized what he had done. And you smiled. "A Black cat crossed my path, so I had to take another route, where I helped an old lady cross the street… and I got lost on the Road of Life."

Kakashi-sensei's eye opened. "And now my young apprentice… now you know why I am late all the time."

"Because you throw up genjutsu everywhere to make sure that you stick to it, or do you have people on your payroll to make it happen." You replied cheekily.

"I have friends." He replied, crossing his arms. "What about you?"

"I was a formally crippled boy who has been looked down upon by my clan for that former disability." You replied bluntly, a smile on your face. "The only friend I have is a boy named Itachi Uchiha. I think we're even. "

For a moment, you thought you saw Kakashi-Sensei's face pale...but that may have been the light.

"Alright then… our first lesson is one thing I think all ninja should know." He then pulled out a scroll and twirled it around like it was a ribbon attached to a single stick. "A list of all the equipment you should have for any mission." He paused. "Actually, before we begin. I want to ask you a few questions." He stared at you with a serious glare from his sole eye.

"What are your likes? Your Dislikes... Your Dreams for the Future?" He gave a wink. "You don't have to answer now... but if you do have an idea... could you tell me. It may help in training."

What are your likes:
[]Write in

What are your dislikes:
[]Write in

What is your dream for the future:
[]Write in

[]I don't think I can answer that right now, Sensei.

Reward: Training rolls gain a +30 to their effectiveness. You have the option to skip the academy if you wish.

Gain Trait: Apprentice (Kakashi Hatake): You are now an Apprentice of a Ninja of the Village. While not officially part of the Ninja Forces Ranks, you are allowed to train in village training grounds, and partake in missions with your Sensei. You are expected to carry on your Sensei's lessons, teachings, and habits so that one day you can teach others. (You can now do missions D-S Rank with your sensei. Your training actions are buffed for as long as you are in the apprenticeship.)

AN: Enjoy.

Kakashi-Sensei waited for you to answer. He sat with a very still glance directed at you, with a curious smile on his face. He wanted you to say something.

It was unfortunate that you had to disappoint him. "I don't think I can answer that question Sensei." You stated.

Kakashi-Sensei than asked. "Why… most kids have likes or dislikes… or a dream, even if it's a silly one?"

"Because I do not know myself well enough to think of any of those things." You replied, giving a warm smile. "So I'm not going to think about it until I am ready."

Kakashi-Sensei frowned, for a moment you thought he was going to say something. But he said nothing, his voice letting out a defeated sigh. But he perked up, and said something else, changing the subject. "Alright then. We're going to be discussing your… little run to Training ground Seven, starting with you not using the Byakugan."

He then grilled you for the next half hour, saying the entire point of the run was for you to use the Byakugan to track him and find him at the training ground.

It was quite humiliating.

But he was very impressed that, even without the Byakugan, you found the training ground.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Training was quite difficult… but now, things were going slowly. Kakashi-Sensei wanted to take things slow, methodically. Easing you into a choice.

What do you do:
(Choose Four)

[]A Bridge Too Far: Kakashi-Sensei wants to go somewhere. He needs your help in finding what he's looking for… or rather, to make sure people aren't looking for it.

[]The Green Beast: Kakashi-Sensei wants to introduce you to someone. A man named Might Gai.

[]Gear of a Warrior: Kakashi-Sensei wants to buy you some tools of the Trade. And you get to choose what they are.

[]A Friend's Help: Itachi needs your help. He thinks his mother is hiding something from him and wants to find out what it is.

[]Train Chakra Control: With your Chakra now unlocked, your mother wants you to have as much control as you can have for a growing boy.

[]Train Taijutsu: Your father wants to start training you in the Gentle Fist. something about needing to catch you up. Kakashi-Sensei also wants to begin teaching you the Academy style, get you a leg up on the other students who might be starting.

[]Train Jutsu: The Academy three Jutsu, the Henge, the Bushin, and the substitution technique are the backbone of all ninja. You must master them before learning anything else.

[]Spend time with your Mother: Your mother has something to tell you. A very important thing.

[]Spend Time with Your Father: Your father needs help. He's trying to get some kind of gift for your mother.

[]Wander the Village: You want to wander the village. You're old enough to find your way home after all.

- [X]A Friend's Help: Itachi needs your help. He thinks his mother is hiding something from him and wants to find out what it is. Rolled:1D100 => 61+10=71

You looked at Itachi with a very… subdued face. "I'm sorry about not spending time with you "Itachi. Kakashi-Sensei was rather busy with training and I forgot."

Itachi gave a rather cheerful smile. "It's okay. My father kept me in the compound to learn the Kanton Jutsu."

"Did you learn it?" You asked.

"Enough to where I needed a new wall for my room?" He replied sheepishly.

"You burned down your room?" You asked.

"No… I just torched my wall, trying to learn the Jutsu… Dad was proud...Though I have to help mom with the dishes for the rest of the month." Itachi replied.

You paused, not knowing where to take the conversation. "Um… so why did you ask me here Itachi? Are you planning to prank someone?"

Itachi nodded. "No… I need your help with something."

Your eyebrows raised. "With what?" You asked.

Itachi sighed. "My mother is hiding something from me and my father, and I want to find out what it is."

"Have you tried asking her?" You stated.

"No." Itachi replied.

You sighed. "Why did you not ask her."

"Everytime I try, she has to do something else.

You couldn't believe you were agreeing to this, but, duty and friendship called, and you needed to help.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You arrived at the Uchiha compound and Itachi had a plan. "Alright. You keep watch, while I look through my moms room."

"I can't believe you talked me into this." You stated.

"Hey, let's just get moving, mom going to be home soon." Itachi replied.

You entered his house and followed Itachi to his parents' room. "And your father?"

"He's at the police station right now, we should have plenty of time." Itachi replied.

But when he opened the door, both his parents were there, sitting, drinking tea and talking.

You couldn't tell because of the chilling rage, and… well, everything else about the situation. Atlas may have known what was happening, but he said nothing.

"Uhhh." Itachi made a noise, causing both his mother and father to scream in embarrassment. The bed stand was thrown at both of you, and you both ran for cover.

"Itachi Uchiha! Why are you here!? And why are you trying to sneak into our room!" Lady Uchiha shouted.

"I wanted to find out what you were hiding, and why you always left me alone whenever I asked about it." He replied.

There was silence. "Shiro… please make sure my son is in my sight and not hiding."

"How did you know I was here?" You asked.

"I could hear you breathing." Lady Uchiha replied.

You made no attempt to hide it and you followed her orders. Lord Uchiha and Lady Uchiha stood next to each other, arms folded as you and Itachi both were standing before them.

"Itachi… you're going to be an older brother." She stated. "We were going to wait for tonight because we were not entirely sure, but the doctor confirmed it. I do not know why you felt the need to bring Shiro into this, but since you have." She glared at you. "You speak of this to no one, you hear."

"Yes, Lady Uchiha." You replied.

"Now, please leave Shiro, our son is going to need to… punished for his lack of patience." She stated.

Lord Uchiha nodded. "Now."

You ran like hell home… trying your best to not think about the potential horror that Itachi was going through.

Like having to clean the dishes for a month.

Reward: Itachi is going to be an older sibling! He is grounded due to trying to find the information by… sneaking into his parents' room. He is stuck doing menial chores for a month.

- [X]Spend time with your Mother: Your mother has something to tell you. A very important thing. Rolled:1D100 => 41+10=51

"Mom are you pregnant?" You asked.

Your mother froze. "Excuse me?"

"Are you pregnant? Is that why you changed your diet, become less physically active, your belly becoming bigger, and have been spending more time with Lady Uchiha and Lady Kushina?" You asked.

Your mother nodded. "Yes… What prompted that question?" You asked.

"Lady Uchiha is having another child." You replied. "And we got yelled at her for trying to find out on our own instead of asking her.

Your mother nodded, before walking over to you and placing a hand on your shoulder. "Yes, I am pregnant… you are going to be an older brother."

You nodded. "To be honest, I thought you were going to try and hide it as Lady Uchiha did."

Your mother laughed. "Oh, dear. That's probably her old jounin information security kicking again. It took me and Kushina three weeks to get an answer out of her, even after she began to show signs."

Reward: You are going to be an older brother.

- [X]Train Taijutsu: Your father wants to start training you in the Gentle Fist. something about needing to catch you up. Kakashi-Sensei also wants to begin teaching you the Academy style, get you a leg up on the other students who might be starting. Rolled:1D100 => 63+40=103

Your father began to train you in the Gentle Fist Style, and you began to start learning… and learning it well.

Kakashi-Sensei began teaching you the Academy style, mostly the kata's.

You felt like you were getting stronger.

Reward: You are now a Genin in the Academy Style, and the Gentle Fist Style.

Academy Style (Genin Rank): The Academy style is a form made of basic katas, strikes, and defenses. A perfect beginner's style. (+4 to combat rolls. +4 to dodge rolls.)

Gentle Fist (Genin Rank): A taijutsu technique that inflicts internal damage through attacking the body's Chakra Pathway System, subsequently injuring organs that are closely intertwined with the area of the network which has been struck. The user surgically injects a certain amount of their own chakra into the opponent's chakra pathway system, causing damage to surrounding organs due to their proximity to the chakra circulatory system. (With the Byakugan, this character gains a +10 to attack rolls. If the enemy gets hit, jutsu's cannot be performed unless they pass a saving throw.)

- [X]A Bridge Too Far: Kakashi-Sensei wants to go somewhere. He needs your help in finding what he's looking for… or rather, to make sure people aren't looking for it. Rolled:1D100 => 91+10=101

Kakashi-Sensei as he looked at the open tree. "It's still here… Good."

But a Kunnai was thrown, and you hit the deck.

"Kakashi Hatake!" A voice cried out. "Finally you reveal where you have hidden the White Chakra Sabre. Hand it over, or we kill the boy."

A Bridge Too Far
A Bridge Too Far

You took a few breaths as you caught up to Kakashi-Sensei. "Kakashi-Sensei, what are we doing out here?" You asked.

The Interior of the Land of Grass was pretty similar to that of the Land of Fire, only with a much more grassy terrain, and the paths were less traveled, at least the one you have been traveling. Overgrowth had overtaken the road.

Kakashi-Sensei sighed. "Finding something I left behind here." He then stopped. "You've done a good job, Shiro. Take a rest."

You sat down on a rock, taking several pants, allowing your body to rest, and take in the scenery. "What are you looking for Kakashi-Sensei?" You asked.

Kakashi-Sensei sighed before he sat down next to you. "I'm looking for the White Chakra Sabre… the pieces I hid after a mission here."

"You didn't take it back to the village?" You asked. "Why?"

Kakashi-Sensei sighed. "The mission had complications... This is where Obito died."

"Oh… Did you leave the pieces with his body?" You asked.

"No. I hid it nearby where I was captured, hoping to retrieve it later when the war was over. My duties prevented that before now." He replied. He handed over a piece of cloth, a cloth made of black material. "But this on, it's a ninja mask…" He handed over a piece of green cloth. "Tie that over your head, in case bandits shows up."

"What about my eyes?" You asked.

"As long as the bandits are not ninja, they'll think your blind." Kakashi-Sensei replied.

"And if they are ninja?" You asked.

Kakashi-Sensei narrowed his single eye. "Trust me, they won't take you."

"Should I scan the area?" You asked.

Kakashi-Sensei nodded. "No. This place has been long abandoned, and if anyone were here watching us, they would need time to set up an ambush." He stood up. "Come on, we're close. We'll rest again when we retrieve the Sabre."

You put on the ninja mask and tied the cloth around your head so that your seal would be fully covered. You looked like a blind, black-haired copy of Kakashi-sensei, only without the headband sliding over your eye like an eyepatch.

"Your very confident that we were not followed?" You asked.

Kakashi-Sensei smiled under his mask. "Remember when I told you that I would be back when you were resting last time?"

"Yeah."

"What do you think I was doing?"

Oh. "well, that's comforting."

You arrived at the bridge a few minutes later...The bridge was a husk of wood, rope, and steel. There was nothing left to connect it, and it was left to rot away.

You took a deep breath. This place was… very scary. It felt like death. "We're here." Kakashi-Sensei said, and slowly, you followed him off the side of the road, and he walked towards a tree.

He removed a Kunai from his belt, and poked his thumb with the blade, before smearing it across the bark.

"It's still here… good. Minato-Sensei's seal was better than I thought." A moment later, a piece of paper fell to the ground, and there was a small wooden box inside the tree stump. He took it and handed it over to you. "Hold onto this." He replied.

You felt the chakra through the wood and felt like the blade was trying to cut you through it.

"Do you feel that?" You asked.

"Yes," Kakashi-Sensei replied. "Just because it is shattered, doesn't mean it does not remember its purpose."

"You make it sound like the blade is alive?" You replied.

"In some way it is," Kakashi-Sensei replied. "It might not be one of the Seven Blades of the Mist, but the blade is old. Old enough to be crafted before my clan's existence."

"Do you know how it was crafted? Or who crafted it?" You asked. "Can you even fix it.

Kakashi-Sensei sighed, as he began to walk back to the road. "I know how to repair it, Shiro… But I don't know about how it was crafted. I only know that it came into my clan's possession after they saved its creator from being taken by a samurai lord, who was trying to collect the rarest weapons of the world. And kill their creators so it was the only of its kind in existence. But that was a long time ago… long before either of us were alive."

You nodded and sighed. "Can we rest on the main road? For a little while at least?"

Kakashi-Sensei nodded. "Very well."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An hour later, you arose from your little nap to Kakashi placing his hand on your face. "Unknown contacts coming towards us, stay silent, and let me do the talking." He ordered. "And when I tell you too, close your eyes and hit the deck and do not move until I tell you it's all clear."

You nodded fearfully, and stood up, standing behind Kakashi-Sensei, while you saw the gang of mercenaries walking towards you. "Kakashi Hatake!" A voice cried out. "What are you doing here?"

Kakashi-Sensei gave a dead look, glancing at you, before glancing back. "I'm taking my son home." He replied. "Vacation."

"Really now… " The ninja snickered and whistled to his men and the rest of the five men surrounding you. "Didn't know the Hyuga allowed adoption out of their clan?"

"He's blind, and a cripple on his arms," Kakashi-Sensei stated. "They don't see him as valuable. And neither should you."

The ninja laughed. "That's rich boy… really rich from the son of the White Fang… You gonna kill yourself like your daddy, let the boy wallow and whither away like the coward he was? He didn't see you as valuable enough to stay alive for."

You saw Kakashi-Sensei's eye narrow in anger. "Let us pass. The war's over, remember?"

"Your right, I will let you pass… if you give me the Sabre." The ninja stated.

"Not possible… It's destroyed." Kakashi-Sensei stated.

Laughter erupted from the ninja. "Really now? Then your just as worthless as your father." He then threw a Kunai at you, and you hit the ground. "Now… give it up, or I won't miss the boy."

"Close your eyes Shiro… This will be over in a minute." Kakashi-Sensei ordered.

You did.

And all you heard was screaming. Screaming and the sounds of blades entering bodies, ending lives forever.

You counted all the seconds that passed, and after one hundred counts, you heard Kakashi-Sensei's voice cut through the silence. "Shiro."

Your eyes opened and you saw the wounds that were now being carried by Kakashi-Sensei. What little there was, a few cuts, a stabbed Kunai… a slight limp… but otherwise, Kakashi-sensei was perfectly fine.

His hand had just finished lowering his headband down over his eye.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he put you on his back.

"Yes, sir." You replied.

"Good. Hold on, we're running to the border." He stated.

"Kakashi-Sensei." You whispered.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Was what he said about your father true… he killed himself." You asked.

"Yes."

"And the stuff about me… do you believe that."

"No," Kakashi-Sensei said immediately. "You are my apprentice… And I promised to protect and train you until you can protect yourself. And… I... thank you."

"For what?" You asked.

"Saving me… from myself." He replied. "Now hold on. We've only got a few hours to cross the border."

You arrived home a few hours later, with a story to tell.

Reward: White Chakra Sabre recovered. New Action Available.

Kakashi-Sensei now views you with a much warmer relationship than before.

AN: Enjoy.

A New World 3: Mentor.

Kakashi-Sensei sat you down at the training ground after a day of training your chakra control. "Shiro." He said quietly. "I want to thank you."

"For what?" You replied. "I should be the one thanking you. You are the one who is training me."

"It's not that." He stated. "You saved me… in a way." He said quietly. "I was lost. You said a few things that have been said to me for years, but never really clicked in my head." He sighed. "I was that much of a wreck, that even a child could see it."

"Did you feel you were weak?" You asked.

"No… I was just reminded of myself when my father died. Someone who saw such a terrible thing happen right in front of me, but I did nothing… Except you did something when no one else did." He paused. "Thank you."

You nodded and allowed yourself to smile. "I hate people who are alone… they deserve to have someone with them. To be reminded that even if they lose everything… There is someone whom they can count on to be with you. Even if it's just for a short time."

For a moment, you thought you saw Kakashi-sensei have a tear in his eye… but he quickly stood up. "Come on… We've got to get you home."

You nodded and felt happy.

Happy that Kakashi-sensei felt alright.

-[X]A Blade Reforged: Kakashi-sensei wants you to witness him repair the White-Chakra Sabre. Rolled:1D100 => 46+10=56

The fires of the forge felt hot as you and Kakashi-sensei walked into it. "Ah, Hatake?" The blacksmith gave a cheeky smile. "I take it you need some higher quality tools?"

"No… I need to borrow your forge. I'm willing to pay you quite handsomely for it for the next few days." Kakashi-Sensei replied, throwing down a very large Stack of Ryu onto the table. "Ten million will suffice?"

"I… Hatake, I can't just-" The blacksmith protested.

"This is important for me," Kakashi-Sensei replied. "I could always go to another smithy who might be more willing to accept a few days away from his work."

The blacksmith sighed. "Three days, and not a day more."

"Perfect." Kakashi-Sensei replied as the blacksmith left.

Kakashi-Sensei than taking a moment to examine the forge. "Shiro…" He handed over a notepad. "Bring me these tools."

"You're a blacksmith?" You asked.

"Yes… I picked it up during an espionage mission a year ago, when I was still in ANBU." Kakashi-Sensei stated. "Now, the tools."

You looked at the list and grabbed the tools that he wanted. "What now?"

"I want you to watch." He said.

"And Learn?" you asked.

"No… To watch, and witness something that only members of my clan have witnessed." Kakashi-Sensei replied.

He set the pieces down into a Tanto mold and allowed the chakra infused metal to liquify.

You watched as he reforged the Steel… and hear a song hammering away. A song of steel clashing steel. For a moment, you thought you heard words coming from the blade itself, wishing to be used by any who hear them.

To be avatars of death and destruction.

The day turned to night than a day again, as you sat, ordered to stay by Kakashi Sensei to remain here in the smithy, and watch him forge away.

On the third day, it was over, but you had slept through the final finishes to the blade itself. "Wake up." Kakashi-Sensei ordered, and you did, arising and shaking the sleep from your eyes and mind, to see the Sabre reforged in front of you.

For a moment you thought you heard whispers in the blade. "Thank you."

"For what? I didn't do anything?" You replied.

"For being here," Kakashi-Sensei replied. "It's enough."

Reward: The White Chakra Sabre has been reforged in Kakashi-Sensei's possession.

You dream of steel clashing with steel.

-[X]Train Chakra Control: With your Chakra now unlocked, your mother wants you to have as much control as you can have for a growing boy. Rolled:1D100 => 27+40=67

You looked at the leaf sticking to your body. "Can I take it off now, it's getting a bit itchy?"

Your mother nodded. "No. Not until I say you can."

Reward: Chakra control is now at a Trainee Level.

-[X]Grounded Troubles: Itachi is grounded, and he has requested your help to save him from his punishment. Rolled:1D100 => 60+10=70

"You want me to use my eyes to lead you away from your mother?" You asked. "To escape your punishment which you yourself brought upon?"

"Yes." Itachi replied.

You sighed. "Why?"

"Because I want to spend time with you?" Itachi replied. "And I was foolish for dragging you into my affairs."

"Fine." You replied. "Let's get running, I think your mother is onto us."

The day was spent with you using your eyes to track Itachi's mother's movements… And trying to avoid her as she chased after you and Itachi.

It was quite fun… and you finally found out how to use your Byakugan more efficiently.

Though you were caught by your mother and Lady Uchiha.

Reward: You are now a Genin Rank with the Byakugan. Your range, however, has not expanded.

-[X]Welcome To Your Life: Your mother is giving birth to your baby brother, it is time to be there for your family. Rolled:1D100 => 66

Your mother had super strength… that was the only way you could describe it when the contractions began, and she broke down the wall to family room.

It was also a good thing that Kakashi-sensei had been training you in endurance running. Because you had to chase your father to the hospital, while he bridal carried your mother towards it.

But you missed the commotion and were forced to wait until after the birth to return to your family.

But you saw the little bundle in your mother's hands. "Come now, Shiro… meet your brother."

You looked at the little baby. "What's his name?" You asked.

"Neji." Your father replied. "Now, would you like to hold him?"

You nodded and took the small sleeping child into your arms. He was big… but he was also very small. At least to you.

He was so helpless… And he laughed at you. He was happy to see you.

And that was enough for you. "Come now… let them rest." You father replied.

Reward: Neji Hyuga has been born.

You are now a big brother. New Action Available.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Few months Later:

October 10th… The Night everything changed... You were with:

[]Your Father: You had just finished sparring and were getting ready to head to sleep, when you thought you saw something in the distance, beyond the village wall… A single man walking towards the village.

[]Your Mother: You were helping her with some dishes when you felt something strange… a very powerful strange.

[]Your Uncle: You were giving a small speech about the need to accept people… when you realized something was very wrong.

[]Neji: Neji began to cry, as you felt the terrible, malevolent sensation that just suddenly appeared.

[]Might Gai: Kakashi-Sensei's self-proclaimed eternal rival was watching you for the night, you had exhausted yourself training. It felt like a normal exhaustive night… Until you felt strange. And Gai Grabbed you and jumped out of a window.

[]Kakashi-sensei: He was at the Hokage's office, with a group of ANBU with him… and then everyone froze, and you were grabbed and told to run.

[]Atlas: You were sitting in a grove, talking to Atlas about the future… And then you heard a man walk towards you… a man in an orange mask, and a glowing red eye.

AN: Enjoy.
