[X] I don't think I can answer that right now, Sensei.
Again, we didn't even use it to look for Kakashi, we just looked around and randomly started chasing a cat. We didn't even use the Byakugan till a few minutes later, to look at teh cat not even trying to find Kakashi.
The Byakugan would dispell the genjutsu for us. Or atleast see through it. That is it's thing, it's why the Hyuuga are by large considered immune to genjutsu, their All Seeing Eye just cuts right through it. That one guy with the stolen byakugan was able to punch right through Danzo's Kotoamatsukami, which is stated to be the pinnacle of genjutsu. Taking the ability to effectively no-sell Genjutsu nerfs the Byakugan by a large margin.
Not only would it be exceptionally difficult to fake all the details, that would require him to take complete control over our entire chakra system. And if he can do that, literally no one would be a threat to him.Have you considered the possibility that he used genjutsu to fake us using our Byakugan?
@Blonddude42 Unless Kakashi knows what Byakugan-sight looks like, he probably didn't.

We're not even an academy student. Stuff that wouldn't work on even a genin probably works on us.
He might have been able to use something that lets us fill in missing details. Hell, there might have been glaring errors in what we saw, but we're too inexperienced with our dōjutsu to notice.
I don't believe there are any instances of that involving a someone with Doujutsu. You can hack all the senses with a Genjutsu, but without taking a hold of the chakra system in totality, when we try to activate our Byakugan it would activate and break through it.While Kakashi is no Itachi, there are examples in Canon of faking an entire fight with genjutsu, although it's admittedly hard to tell where the line is drawn for "needs sharingan bullshit" for characters that have a sharingan.
And with how loose Canon itself is with internal consistence on the rules, I don't believe he would need to take over our entire chakra network. Pretty sure you're using some of the good parts of fanon (which we all do) but we can't guarantee our GM is using those parts of fanon too.
Shit, it's hard to know if our GM is using some parts of Canon until he tells us...

You might be right in it doesn't automatically break it, I did acknowledge that possibility. But it WOULD automatically see through it. Visual Genjutsu would just fail, for the Byakugan would display the true world. The sounds and what not would still be there, but we'd see the real world. This might be a headcanon, but I'm pretty sure that simply having a doujutsu active doesn't actually break a genjutsu - it simply lets one recognize a genjutsu immediately because 'normal people's eyesight' and 'Byakugan eyesight' or 'Sharingan eyesight' are too different for said genjutsu to affect the target the way it's meant to. Though the Sharingan might have such an automatic defense - it tends to have various automatic functions inborn, that the Hyuuga need to train in to have.
On the other hand, since a Hyuuga can probably see the inside of their body, even auditory or olfactory genjutsu would have a hard time going undetected, unlike Itachi's (and Pain's) susceptibility.

In addition to seeing THROUGH Genjutsu, there's also teh factor you mentioned. We'd be able to see the Genjutsu itself. The Byakugan has a MUCH higher fidelity of chakra sensativity than the Sharingan, they see the inherent chakra make-up of jutsu.
To be able to over-ride all these details, you'd have to take over a root part of our body, such that there literally is no defense. After all, if you are can step in and prevent teh application of our Doujutsu, you could prevent ANY use of chakra. And if you can prevent all chakra use, then it doesn't matter who that person is, there is nothing they can do.
The only case I know of is during the massacre, before Sasuke had his eyes. And he then unlocked his eyes and broke out of it.Itachi make Sasuke think they had an entire fight with a genjutsu? The only other examples I know of are definitely sharingan hax, so I might be mixing some fanon in to answer something where there is no canon answer
When we'd try to use our doujutsu, we'd manipulate our chakra in a way that'd activate it. The only way for the genjutsu to stop that is to stop us from using our chakra, which is what I was saying. And if he can do that, he could shut down everyone.Assuming we actually used our doujutsu and the genjutsu didn't just make us think we did. While we may be a genius, we aren't even an academy student. I can see Kakashi getting away with some really lazy and flawed tricks just because we're such an easy target.
Hell, there were parts where it came across like we were playing along with the genjutsu. The Byakugan doesn't let you recognize chakra networks on it's own*, so we probably couldn't have found Kakashi using it.
...what was the original argument? I've kinda lost track since I jumped in during the middle of things.
*please point me to a canon reference if it does as a feature, rather than being something that would need training and familiarity
It also happened in their fight in Shippuden. Though I don't remember if Sasuke broke out of it or did Itachi disspell it himself. The only case I know of is during the massacre, before Sasuke had his eyes. And he then unlocked his eyes and broke out of it.
Looking it up, it was before their fight, and the way Sasuke talks after dispelling it makes it sound like he knew it was there and was just playing along. It also happened in their fight in Shippuden. Though I don't remember if Sasuke broke out of it or did Itachi disspell it himself.
@Rolen von Keng : it's December 25th, not April 1st. (Edit: Or May 4th.) It's not the appropriate day for such a vote.![]()
The tally is wierd, but Radioxa wins by 1
Edit : Wait, shit. The tally is very wierd, Radioxa does NOT win.
Sucks for the hangover, but did you at least won something?calling the vote: Not having an answer wins.
So I'm having a post-Christmas hangover, and I won a poker tournament. I might not update today.
lots of money. Bragging rights for the year, and a compliment from my boss, my former boss, and all my friends, when I smirked at them with a Three of a kind.
