Ah I see. So Lee's a punch wizard and TenTen's a gun wizard.
Wow. Neji's practically the normal one.

No, this setting (or at least this version of it) has guns. Ninja just don't use them, normally.... Wait, what.
Did tenten get a system too? Is she a reincarnator?
Damn. Can't wait for the scene where Tenten merks someone from a 400m away with a sniperNo, this setting (or at least this version of it) has guns. Ninja just don't use them, normally.
Funny you should say that...Damn. Can't wait for the scene where Tenten merks someone from a 400m away with a sniper
Because TenTen is "Weapons Girl!" that's pretty much her entire gimmick. If the setting has guns (which it does) then why wouldn't she have a gun?Why does she have a gun?! Though I am a huge fan of 'my mannequins!'
Tenten deserves a gun.
No, they just have guns in this setting. It's been discussed.... Wait, what.

Neji: I don't have a drinking problem, I have a drinking solution.Tenten sits beside her quite suddenly, spooking her from her thoughts, and Neji steals her mead without so much as a word. It seems he doesn't want her drinking any more than she wants to drink. That does of course mean he's also drinking his tankard a few moments later when his meal and mead are delivered for the morning. If she didn't know any better, she'd say that the way he's drinking it without a thought implies he might have a drinking problem.
There was a whole plot point where she didn't have the money for her FF14 sub because she slept through the Hokage explaining their stipend. So obviously Tenten saw a bad movie, with a quote she loved, and somehow got the same type of weapon.... Which was a Glock...
Also it is obvious that this version of Konoha and in fact the world is closer in tech to the Boruto era of the World, which had things like hamburgers, and as far as I could see tv's and stuff in civilian use...
This also means mysterious guns are more advanced that musket like ones from the Naruto era... Which seemed to be used by the Land of Snow?
I'm fine with Naruto having guns. It makes sense, even. They have movies and hecking airships! No, this setting (or at least this version of it) has guns. Ninja just don't use them, normally.
There's no particular reason why there couldn't be a gun called a glock in this setting. It's hardly the only thing we've seen that shares a name from the real world that would be trademarked. Glock 'O Clock is a joke. Just save yourself the stress and let it goI'm fine with Naruto having guns. It makes sense, even. They have movies and hecking airships!
It just bugs me that they specifically have Glocks. Naruto isn't set in Japan, but it also sure isn't set in Europe or America and it's a darn sight closer to Japan than anywhere else (for example they use the ryō as currency which is a historical Japanese coin). I was today days old when I learned that Glock comes from the German name for bell. How does any of that make sense here?
Now, Sakura could maybe get away with having a Glock and knowing what it's called if she'd picked it up in some random game system bullshit somewhere, but I don't think Tenten has been in those.
So I am like, really high, so take this with salt.I'm fine with Naruto having guns. It makes sense, even. They have movies and hecking airships!

The Naruto tech level is notoriously a mess. Leaf and Sand communicate via messenger bird in one arc, then the daimyo communicate via real-time satellite uplink in another. Interestingly, Kishimoto is on record as saying he specifically does not want guns or motor vehicles in the Narutoverse ever (and presumably that gun in Wave was an accident). For the guns at least, I can't blame him. The core concept of the setting collapses if ninja can use guns instead of shuriken and fireballs, or more importantly, if civilians can use guns against ninja.I'm fine with Naruto having guns. Per Google, Usain Bolt's top speed when he set the sprinting world record was 44.72km/h. A cheetah's top speed is 120 km/h. A low-velocity bullet's speed is 720-1,800 km/h.Not really true. Maybe on academy students and ninja not trained for the chunin exams, but most ninja can outrun a bullet. I'm faily certain most ninja would prefer a sword they can wield over a gun they can slice in two with almost no difficulty. Plus, you'd have to predict the location of a running ninja with a bullet that isn't as fast as them.
The tech level of Naruto actually makes sense when you realize that anything useful (TV, Radio, computers, vehicles,) can't be mass produced because of the perpetual Cold War. Mass production is expensive, and the best and brightest of the generation are always going to be pushed into the ninja academy. Also it is obvious that this version of Konoha and in fact the world is closer in tech to the Boruto era of the World, which had things like hamburgers, and as far as I could see tv's and stuff in civilian use...

The intent is fairly clear, and it probably translates alright if you squint, but taken uncritically it implies even wilder things about the setting than the gun.Maybe he can add some diversity to this, even if he is a white male… nevermind.
I find it hard to imagine a parent going, "my six-year-old is clearly a genius, and they must equally clearly therefore become a ninja", especially when both in canon and in this universe, it seems to be the kid who makes the final decision.the best and brightest of the generation are always going to be pushed into the ninja academy.
I think this is our evidence that this simply isn't meant to be a hard fantasy setting. You can posit an interesting world where modern technology exists without mass production, but what percentage of the population needs to have affordable home computers before MMOs can be financially viable? What about the percentage needed to sustain a professional streaming industry? As annoying as it is to see Sakura literally have a PC that can run games that I have to assume are technically analogous to the games of the same name, it's not something that would be impossible for the Boruto setting to have, assuming the ninja nonsense slowly gets sidelined in favor of larger armies with standard chakra training and firearms.
So I am with you there. The lack of mass production fits pretty well into the way the Naruto setting works, and games as a whole, especially given that yes they are in fact our modern equivalents, imply either an interdimensional rift, or a manufacturing mega nation secretly hidden in a Walmart parking lot somewhere.
Kakashi literally chops lightning in half at one point, it's safe to assume that Jonin are so superhuman that guns actually don't matter.Per Google, Usain Bolt's top speed when he set the sprinting world record was 44.72km/h. A cheetah's top speed is 120 km/h. A low-velocity bullet's speed is 720-1,800 km/h.
I'd separately question your source for the assumption that ninja can slice a gun in two, considering guns are made of steel just like one assumes kunai are.
This is kinda exactly what I'm talking about, actually, story logic wise.I think this is our evidence that this simply isn't meant to be a hard fantasy setting. Sure, maybe half a century in the future, but not now when twelve-year-old kids are still routinely being sent out on combat missions, with pointy things designed after farming tools as their notion of standard weapons technology.
