Anyway, finished Steel Ball Run in two days of intensive reading. Damn what a great story. I'd say it might be my favorite part. It had the most sympathetic and complex Dio in my opinion, the best JoBro/Zeppelli, the best story, the best flashbacks, introducing the Spin (which is awesome) and had an antagonist that I honestly at times felt sorry for, understanding perfectly that he loved his country and wanted it to be the one to set an example to the rest of the world.
On the negative: While the final fight with Alternate Dio was awesome, it felt a bit unnecessary, even despite it being in the way I wanted it to be, a fight in the final part of the race. I didn't felt anything for [THE WORLD] Diego, unlike [Scary Monsters] Diego, and it just felt dirty to Johnny, after everything to just get screwed over in the end. I was fine with him not winning the race itself, but the final battle, even if great to read, wasn't my cup of tea.
Also I felt like there wasn't enough focus on the Steel Ball Run race and some parts were skipped like who came at which place at every stage, which I loved about the first stages. Didn't felt like it was that much important anymore once Jesus was introduced. It's a shame because Gyro wanted to just win the race to save a boy from death.
Also Diego's [THE WORLD] pisses me off about having no limitations to it unlike Star Platinum: The World. Pisses me off that Jotaro had to constantly be nerfed. He was completely useless in the Manhattan Transfer fight, like he forgot that SP:TW could automatically defend him and catch bullets. Jotaro in the final fight was basically just there to die. He was so outclassed that it was just sad.
Now on SBR, I think that it's the best part as of now. Also, did any of you feel a little bit uncomfortable whenever someone tried to rape Lucy Steel? She's 14 and three people try to fuck her: Scarlet Valentine, Funny Valentine and Alternate Diego. I'm not a SWJ, but rape is a bit of a touchy subject for me personally.
