Regarding power design, is there any qualitative difference between a base Potency 7 power set and a Potency 10 with 3 reductions power set? Because I've been thinking that if there isn't, then maybe we could.just try giving Cain a Potency 10 power set once he's properly prepared for it. We haven't been rolling too well when it comes.to.side.effects, after all.
The base Tolerance is still how powerful our recruits are.

The reductions just lets them get more complex, versatile or focusbpowers. It doesnt actually boost how much power Candidates get from ambrosia.Thats strictly how high their tolerance is.

Our Prometheans are lised at their total Potency before reductions on their character sheets, and candidates who can reach P13 are treated as special even though we have another three people who can reach P10, so it looks like there is.

Any writer will tell you that timeline mistakes and the like can happen even to the best of writers. I'm currently running a game where I completely messed up the timeline of a murder mystery because of foreshadowing 6 months prior in real time despite keeping very meticulous notes. I would honestly be surprised if there wasn't a single error of that kind in this quest with so many characters and mechanics and lore details, it's just something that happens. Not a knock against the writer.
Oh, I fuck up all the time (see: King's age). This just isn't one of those times.

There is a lesser-know part of the Rebound that Nora (and thus LL) know about and it's getting weird I just haven't said it yet: you don't actually die when you Rebound-out.

It's worse.

A P7 with three reductions will be substantially weaker than a P10 with no reductions. That's three whole potency not going into the power!

"Oh . . . I told her about Ellie's boyfriend," the tipsy heroine says, "She took it really hard. Be nice to her for a bit, huh?"

Miss Naught misses how her mentee roots in place and how her eyes go wide.

"Oh no," Maddie breathes, "I have fucked up.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but the constant hiccups concerning Mona and Ellie's relationship is starting to get really obnoxious. Foot in mouth was funny at first but that got old fast and this just seems contrived.

......is the stage a gestalt? The un fun kind?

Another vaild question why it took till 2023 for a meta human to be produced
Like we know it's about the early teens for them to come in at the latest but we also know the big lad landed I wanna say late 90s/ early 2000s so like in in theory, even if you had to be conceived within the world after it landed meta-humans "should" have been showing up by at least the late 2010s
My crockpot, theory is based upon comic book tropes in particular of a the hidden early supers ( such as Blue marvel & what has been the case with The JLA) what I am suggesting is a hidden generation of Metas

I thought it just gave you super-dementia…

So that's how Osanyin « lived » that long.

Wait, is Osanyin Interlocutor ?

(Also, how do new Algernon-types know about the Rebound if it's not publicised ? Do they automatically have a « countdown to the Rebound » timer in their head ? And how come nobody noticed that Algernon-type is a reference to a famous sci-fi novel)

Vote closed. I feel like ya'll is gaming the system, but, yeah, I'll give Yara both.
I mean, you don't have to, you could just flip a coin!

Or possibly compromise between the two? Like, I don't know what this is about (telekinesis? some form of weird transformation?), but maybe you could make some kind of slow switch between the two? A school of fish that can imitate a great sea serpent with effort, if they're not busy doing anything else?

Bitterman once said that if we'd chosen Nora, at some point she would have died no matter what. There's gotta be a physical component to it, even if it's just as simple as 'the brain gives up'.

It's sort of an unspoken thing where if you're an Algernon-type talking to a new one, you fill them in. Steelheart did for Nora, for example.

Also, guys, don't worry, I was joking about gaming the system! I'm glad to make Yara as busted as possible lol.

Wait.
Interlocutor was present at Osanyin's death. Interlocutor now has Nora.
Do Algernon-types get absorbed into Interlocutor ?

True Telepathy prevents the Rebound, and TT allows protection against mental attacks.

If Algernons and the Rebound are tied to a specific entity like Interlocutor, it might explain why the Rebound seems to be actively malicious rather than random?

Edit:
Algernons being connected to Interlocutor would also explain why it felt Nora's pride when Ellie used Dynamite.

I suspect the interlocutor isn't (directly) malicious, but completely uncomprehending of humans. It ends up making rebound feel directly malicious because the more you care about something the more likely the interlocutor notices it. And anything it reads is lost to the human.

Actually, since Interlocutor seems to be connected to Trismagistus, and we suspect he was an Algernon before he turned into what he is, it's possible he's actually causing the Rebound as a way to prevent other Algernons from reaching his level. This would possibly make something like True Telepathy prevent Revound because it allows you to filter out his influence.

I'm not sure whether him being just unable to understand humans would be better or worse than him being actively malicious...

If that's the case, best case scenario, he can be talked into developing empathy and morality. Worst case scenario, he can develop natural human assholishness.

It does sound like Kyoko was Theodore partner to handle the rebound though.

Maybe in the alt timeline they figured out how to solve rebound and tried to use that for apothesis.

Then in this timeline Interlocator was born which made rebound worst.

Both at the same time. Dealing with truly alien thought is… problematic, at the best of times. And these are not the best of times.

I've spent the past week or so making a sheet that compiles a lot of the current information regarding Ambrosia and powers in general. The sheet also includes the first version of an Ambrosia Builder for making builds.

Version 2.0 is HERE

Current Features (Last Updated 1/19):
  • List of all known and available DNA profiles (Updated with DNA from Issue #3.8!)
  • List of all known and learned synergies and a worksheet for recording synergy guesses
  • An Ambrosia Builder. Allows for the combination of up to 5 DNA samples. Compiles all used keywords and calculates potency.
    • Synergy Detection! Thanks to spiderhellian for completing this feature!
Work In Progress Features:
  • An explanation of all keyword types
  • More Sample slots
  • Add all known DNA profiles to Ambrosia Builder
Info I'm Looking for (Last Updated 1/19):
  • Any miscellaneous information about Ambrosia or DNA Profiles not yet in an informational post (please include links)

Google Account Method
If you have a google account you can copy the sheet directly to your drive. Remember to check which account you are signed into and practice safe internet practices. To be safe you may want to use a private or incognito tab.
1. File > Make A Copy
2. Open the Copy on your Google Drive. This version should be editable by you.
Direct Download Method
If you do not have or don't want to use a google account you can also directly download the file.
1. File > Download
2. Download as a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) or OpenDocument (.ods) file

Once downloaded go to the Ambrosia Builder tab and select the samples you want to use from the drop down. To make a Sample dropdown blank backspace until the cell is empty then select another cell.

I know there are errors so please let me know when you find them by @ing me. For glitches and bugs I will try to solve them to the best of my ability but please be patient- this is not my specialty or something I'm experienced in and I'm just doing this for fun :)
Update 2.0 is here with new the new DNA samples! Go forth and make busted builds!
