MW: If Lady Leizi is going to keep being all lame and timid with her whole "No, we can't import a boa constrictor from the Amazon for you" energy, this is the next best thing.
If MW ever does get a boa constrictor, I want the boa's name to be "Jormungandr". I thought of Leviathan for a second, but that's a bit too insensitive right now.

Apep would get jealous and she'd NEVER do that to him!

Also, writing this update just underscores how terrifying your JU is. Crusade was never meant to be able to stand up to you guys in a fight (save a few of them), but holy shit.

And we're also prob gonna have 3-4 more P10s by Wider Than A Mile, assuming that nothing bad happens, along with a good few A and B listers, and New Dawn… jesus, Ambrosia really is just a game-breaker in general.

It's supposed to be! What's really game breaking is how you've managed to keep it secret this whole time.

Also, I guess your guys being this strong means I don't need to feel bad about the next part of this encounter!

Now the REAL question is: did Crusade know that fact in advance? I mean, Stockpile would take a swing at us regardless because he thinks JU needs to go down for moral reasons. On the other hand, I could imagine that White Hawk and Joules were down for mudslinging because they have the resources for it, but deep down holding the belief that if push really came to shove, then they'd be victorious regardless.

That would make this fight a bit of a wake-up call, and unfortunately at least some members of Crusade will be smart enough to learn from their mistakes.

Mona getting Extreme Psychic Sensitivity and then the first fill-in issue being EXCEED, and then Mona putting two and two together and telling LL about the clairvoyant spy really made things go in an unexpected direction, huh?

Hey, dumb thought for later-
Menagerie Witch can wield shadow familiar made from animals right?
Wasn't Mammoth Iblis working on super-powered animals and had a whole base full of them including a beetle with Valiant Red Powers?
We might be able to do something FUN with that…

I mean, one of our missions might let us occasionally make superfast orangutans if it goes well, so...

There's a world where Lantern gives The Philosophers the knowledge of how the process of Project Prometheus works and they start fielding new heroes from scratch against us, isn't there?

I;m pretty sure thats any worlld LL ddint survive and the team didnt get into the apiary fast enough.

Funny Enough Towarrir Starting with 3 Heroesdue to Opale being a bonus means taking back Apiary in T1 is possible as long as they picked Mona. So tahts another way to counter lantern.

I mean, they know that Swan is powerful enough to 'kill' Scarlet Maturity. They know that Nora's technology was cracked. They all already think that we must have a really cool metahuman empowerment project of some kind, to rebuild our team: that we probably took some C- and B-Listers and then boosted them to being A- and S-Listers.

But it's one thing to know (and think) that intellectually and another to know it in person. Like, they must have seen footage of her defeating SM, but one thing I don't have too clear (given that I only joined the quest around the time Ellie got E-B) is whether there's footage of her actually tanking hits from him, or if 'true body' was ever visible. Do they know? Do they think that she lived mostly on the basis of being faster than SM? Or, if the footage does show either of those, do they think she's actually just super-tough like White Hawk?

And one thing that wouldn't show up either way on any footage is her sheer magical-girl-ness. Her grit. The fact that she was scared of SM but still faced him with her head held high and trash-talked the hell out of him.

Crusade is going to come out of this realizing that Black Swan is constantly, constantly holding back her power. And I hope that keeps them up at night.

Something I've been wondering a while, ever since Mona asked about (BD)SM about his space pants: what about Mona's costume? When she was reduced to just her core then fully regenerated, did her clothes come back to? When she blew up her arm attempting to get rid of Warpstar, did the costume need to be repaired?

I'm pretty sure Mona's costume is part of her self-image, her entire body outside of her core after all is a projection reshaped from her accretion disc, she can probably just toggle outfits with a thought once she's wrapped her head around one.

Like, she can wear normal clothes too, but the important outfits presumably are part of her self-image.

Probably. Though Prometheus also required Ibis-level skills, it's probably non trivial to replicate. I was re-reading a bit and came across this:
But-for her psychic sensitivity born of a side effect of how she gained her powers, would someone know all the details of Project Prometheus? Would they know everything you've been up to, with you none the wiser?
…and it would be pretty wild.

I wonder if they would have been less active as our foes, if they had so much better knowledge in what we were up to? Not a worthwhile trade, but I could see the dynamic being fairly different.

Or that knowledge would just have made them more ruthless.

There are two major meta-plots I had to scrap and/or change beyond all recognition because of that!
Honestly, I am starting to wonder how you expected us to win in the first place if this is us doing well. How were supposed to deal with the Philosophers crap if they knew how to create metahumans too!

Like we have at least three different plots by them we are barely even beginning to manage to hold off with everything we have now! How were we going to be able to deal with more!

Wait, I'm just thinking, what other animals can we give Maddie?

Because I just had the hilarious/terrifying mental image of her unleashing a swarm of bees on some poor fool.

Honestly we need to reclaim Dr Ibis' lab.

Hmm... Mona secretly better infiltrator than Handyman? But needs mental focus lest she accidentally "think of herself as" Mona and drop the disguise...

Dose this mean the clones got Yara, and we lost the mission.
I don't think so? For one that would be a really short mission and not at all the long slog Bitterman was hinting at. Also suddenly turning to that outcome doesn't make any sense with the dice rolls we got. The thread mood would've been locked into IT'S SO OVER mode many times over from the rolls needed to fail in the first phase like that.

I think the most straightforward answer to this is that the Philosophers might not be the final boss here - perhaps that's the Interlocutor?

If so, it'd explain them not being a bigger threat in a universe where they did know our secrets: if they're more worried about the Interlocutor, while they'd still want the method of making metahumans of their own, we wouldn't be the threat they'd focus on, because they'd immediately try to co-opt PP / have us unwittingly help them.

Given that Horizon is next to the sea, I think an amphibian of some kind is not a bad idea. Perhaps a frog? She is a witch, and a frog would be a lot easier to carry around than a crocodile or something.
