The collateral and the sword choices are something we're going to have to think through, since they'll define Akemi's build, and, indirectly, also affect our build (by letting us know what we should on getting in the future through our other forms).
- Health collateral: Provided Akemi also uses the same formula for health as we do (aka (Physical + Magical) / 2), this is effectively a -5 to relevant rolls, a -9/-10 to Akemi's health in combat (-2/-3 from the Physical loss and -7 from Fragile Outfit) and -5 to Akemi's health in civilian persona (asumming untransformed health is equal to a character's Physical). May slant us towards picking Undrawn or Voidcutter as sword to partially compensate for the additional frailty (by either having better health, better ways to reduce damage or ways to health damage);
- Magic collateral: 3 more damage from magical attacks isn't the worst downside, but the -5 to Magical is still effectively a -5 to relevant rolls and -2/-3 to health in transformed form. Basically, a less bad version of Health collateral;
- Soul collateral: Likely a significant AP sink depending on how plentiful Shades are, in exchange for giving +10 to combat rolls, a pretty significant advantage. Likely the flaw we would have had if our character was a Dark Magical Girl. As of now, a flaw that we could likely manage and one I'd prefer we pick here;
- Caution collateral: We sought Akemi out to have someone who can compensate for Rei's inability to formulate complicated combat plans and follow said plans. This collateral effectively throws that out the window by making Akemi as unreliable in combat as Rei. We should not be taking this;
- Excitement collateral: Flaw's not too bad (it's another idea Kermie borrowed from another quest that I'm involved with, so I know it's manageable), but I am leery about dumping Akemi's Social (since I'm sure the thread will not want to focus on Rei's Social, so we need someone else to handle Social for us, and that would be Akemi provided we don't do anything regarding her Social score (EDIT: Somehow part of what I wanted to write got lost or I didn't put it here until now; the analysis should make more sense after fixing the mistake));
- Direction collateral: Not as bad of a hit to Mental as Caution, but a 33% chance of having one action at random be derailed into a random exploration is bad, since it could eat up an action that's important. I'd rather have a timesink that can be planned around rather than one that can not be planned around.
- Voidcutter is balanced. It has the lowest health and the lowest Physical in exchange for highest Magical of the options. It's also got heal (via Yield This Blade To Claim The Void, which can also be forced through unsheated Line of Death enforcing Slash weakness), support capabilites (Reclamation, unsheated Line of Death), damage reduction, dodge capabilities, capable at any range and also has AOE. Downside is that it overlaps with Rei's current arsenal when it comes to elemental overlap (aka Slash and Dark are already handled by us), which can present issues in cases where those elements are resisted;
- Undrawn focuses on being a tank, with higher Physical and the least amount of Magical between the choices. It's got better coverage than Voidcutter, since Blunt and Light aren't elements we have access to currently, and the absortion gimick also makes it versatile, if in a different way from Voidcutter. That said, it does lack healing capabilities, so if we pick this sword for Akemi, we know what we're going to need out of next form;
- Grand Armory is very much an offensive support. Highest Physical and second-highest Magical lends itself to a pretty large amount of health, but it's defensive means are limited to a small heal each time ammo is used, one damage reducer, one dodge increase and one ally damage splitting. In exchange, it can make enemies slower (or potentially cause them to lose a turn) and can make it easier to hit them. Similar elemental coverage as Undrawn, aside from replacing Light with Fire (which is also not something we're covering currently).
