Operation Weihnachtswunder (A CK2 Style Quest to Save Christmas!)

We have the sleigh and blitzen— could we transport Jack Frost to Antartica and then go back and pick him up once he freezes over/recovers?

might be worthwhile depending on the costs, i guess if we want them in peak condition as soon as possible and it's more effective than freezers? though would mean leaving him on his own (could be a problem, he probably can't defend himself too well for a while) and mean we can't talk to him if there's an emergency that warrants it?
if we do go there though, having a look around in the meantime may also be worthwhile. shame we don't have some sort of magical artifact radar as far as i know :P

Won't lie, had not considered that. Let's see, Turn 1 is Winter, but you will have turn 0 actions for Twelve Night. I would allow it, but you'd have to spend an action to drop him off, and an action to pick him back up. While he'd probably not be found, there is always the risk someone gets lucky and finds him. And he would be pretty close to defenseless if they were hostile.

shame we don't have some sort of magical artifact radar as far as i know :p

Sounds like you need a Dragon Ball Magic Item Radar.

gee golly, if only we had a magic item radar of some form in order to find one!:V

But then you'd need to find a magic item radar to find then magic item radar, and then it's just magic item radars all the way down.

But more seriously, there are item radars. Many only track certain things/series of items/mythologies, and have ranges, and they aren't common. But you can get your hands on them.

Actually, yes, you could! I'll get into it more when I reveal the Workshop, but I don't see why not!. Also, making a roll.

Edit: Well, fuck. That's a good roll.
Novus Ordo Mundi threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: The Smallest Seed... Total: 98

a bit earlier back on page 4 i thought those 6 and 2 sided dice were actually D100s that critfailed lol. that isn't too relevant, but this right here would definitely make up for the bad luck that never actually happened, I'll say that much

being able to just *buy* specific stuff like a super-freezer is so wild, the wonders of modern technology i guess
presumably even if we have money we can't get it with no hassle, so what do you think the catch is, do we have to get it off amazon do you think scrooge might have some sort of "behind the times" typical old person malus, perhaps? it's probably just having a cap on the maximum amount of things you can get/do but that's less funny to bring up

Ho-ho-ho
The growth of that little seed is a Weihnachtswunder!

Yep. It was also an Occult Roll on Boxing Day (26th), so with New Santa at +5, you get a +40 to the roll. Making it a 138.

You start with 138 Building Points. You can use it to create new spaces like a Stable, improve current ones like the Crafting Tables, boost your Maid, improve the Toy Shop, or improve your defenses and place emergency countermeasures for the employees.

Hey, dumb question. For the building phase, would it be okay if I made it simple. Something like: Here are the points, Here's where you can put them. Tell me which section gets how many points, and I'll handle the rest? That way there isn't too much of a paralysis of choice?

i can't say for anyone else, but generally the best bet is "whatever's least work for the QM so we can keep the ball rolling" (i think getting bogged down with a bunch of different values can be a problem for this depending on the quest?)

so you're saying it's like, there'll be a few areas of focus and we can split a percentage of points into each, but don't pick individual ones? there'd be less opportunity to plan/optimise/strategise there, but if the things we're putting in are all pretty simple fair enough?
my biggest issue would be lacking knowledge of what each decision would actually mean, since if we're just dividing the points into several categories without knowing the effects there wouldn't be much thought behind it?

if you want to keep it simple maybe having a binary choice like "the basic setup's done, we've got XYZ, the remainder can be spent in one of several ways, pick what you like best" or something would work?

edit: oh dividing the points in ratios (if there's a lot of them at least) may also be a bit of a pain because there's so many different possibilities so it'd be awkward to vote on, and could run the risk of causing problems like dividing in a way where it's hard to find things to use up the energy exactly and leaning some left over

Initial Building Phase
Initial Building Phase

Occult Roll: 98 + 40 (Occult Under Holiday) = 138

You possess 138 Building Points.

You may put a number of points into each section you want to upgrade, with the following effects

Each 1 Point: Minor Upgrade

Each 5 Points: Moderate Upgrade

Each 20 Points: Major Upgrade

Each 50 Points: Unique Trait

Remember though, the more upgrades, the more Spirit may be needed to run them. (The Five Years of Christmas Spirit Nicolas gave you amounts to 5000 CS.) Spirit is generated by keeping the Spirit of Christmas alive in the hearts of people!)

Note: Advent/Christmas/Twelve Nights count as 1 Season. There are 5 Seasons per Year

The Workshop Upgrade Options are as followed

Santa's Office.
Complete with Desk, 3 Chairs, Holiday Drink Dispenser, Holiday Snack Dispenser. Currently requires 5 Spirit Per Season to Run.

Christmas Spirit Generator
This stores Christmas Spirit, and can generate small amounts on its own! Currently, it can hold 2,000 CS, and Generate 10 CS per turn. (Nicholas' Spirit does not count against this limit). Requires 0 Spirit per Season to Run.

Crafting Workshop
4 Crafting Station. Each Crafting Station can hold 1 Crafter. Also has a Break Room and Bathrooms! Requires 1 Spirit per 1000 Toys, plus 1 Spirit per Season. (This will probably be the biggest Spirit consumer, so keep that in mind)

Sleeping Wing
10 Rooms. Each room has its own bed and bathroom. The wing contains 1 communal kitchen, and two communal living rooms. Requires 2 Spirit per Occupied Room, Plus 2 Spirit per Season

Garage
Can handle 3 Vehicles, and the Sleigh. You will launch the Sleigh from here. Requires 2 Spirit per Season

Stable
Can hold 3 animals, and the ability to care and feed them. Requires 1 Spirit per Animal per Season

Armory
Basic Cameras, Wards for Defense, and Glyphs for Offense. Contains 10 Candy Cane Swords and 10 Peppermint Pistols. Requires 3 Spirit per Season

Toy Storage
Rooms to store toys for Christmas. You can hold 20,000 Toys. Requires 0 Spirit per Season

Special: The Maid
The Spirit of Scrooge and Marley's has come alive, and is decently powerful in his own right. He starts with 2 Unique Traits, and an Unassigned Stat Block of 20, 15, 12, 10, 5, 3. Major Upgrades and Unique Traits are Half Off!

Special: The Toy Shop!

Already there, but you can improve it! Currently contains 6 Aisles, 2 Checkout Areas, Break Room, Office, Storage 2 Bathrooms, and a Loading Dock. Major Upgrades and Unique Traits are Half Off!

In addition, you can buy the following Special Features! No upgrading them for now, but they could be very useful!

Freezer Room (15 BP) - Can be used to store cold things, help Cold, Snow, or Ice Characters recover quicker, and can be vented as an emergency measure against enemies

Spirit Solidifier (20 BP) - Spirits within the Workshop become solid and interact with physical things. You can hire Spirits to work for you!

SEP Field Generator (30 BP) - This device generates a field that causes people to not notice or explain away things involving the Workshop. It is not perfect, but still useful.

Medical Ward (10 BP) - This opens the Medical Ward, which can be used to treat injuries. While it can generate a passive healing field for minor injuries, a Doctor will be needed for more extensive treatments.

Time Compactor (50 BP) - Somehow, this causes time to take a little longer to pass. Not enough to actually notice, but you notice you can cross off an extra item or two from the to-do list!

Calvary (100 BP) -
This room is a failsafe, in case the rest of the Workshop has fallen. It is a well protected room that boosts all Allies, and punishes Enemies. It is also here where Operation Weihnachtswunder can be activated. (This will empower the current Santa for 6 hours. At the end of that 6 hours, the Current Santa dies, with no chance of recovery)

Put the value of points next to each section you want to upgrade, or which feature you wish to buy. You can also store BP, which can be kept for future use! And remember, this vote will be done as a plan, so keep that in mind.

Okay, on build...
Well, honestly, i really like the sound of those Unique Traits. WE've got 38 poitns, and I'm inclined to go tall rather than wide.

- Maid: three unique traits are better than two? 25 points
- The Toy Shop: unique traits at half price continue to be wonderful things. 25 points
- SEP Field Generator: because this is kind of a big deal for avoiding certain issues. 30 points.
- Time Compactor: because just getting more actions is the strongest superpower of all. 50 points.
- Crafting workshop: help it keep up with the store. 8 points.

That would be my initial idea set, anyway.

Also, there are parts of this that we *don't* need to upgrade. Garage, Stable, Armory, and Calvary all seem like they're trying to solve problems that we don't have, and won't have any time soon. For the moment, we don't have enough vehicles or animals to need expansion, and we're better off handling hoe defense by not getting attacked in the first place. As a good, taxpaying brit who's a beloved member of the community, that should be a doable thing for the first while, and these investments all need to be either "for the first while" stuff, or the kidn fo long-term benefit that we wont' be able to get later.

...I laughed, and then it gave me IDEAS!.

Pick one of the upgradable sections, Sirrocco. It gets a Minor Upgrade.
Oh, huh.

Crafting Workshop, then. Thanks!

The spirit solidifier works well with our high occult and group of spirits so it might be better than the SEP Field Generator.
They do different things. I think we'll want a Spirit Solidifier eventually, and it's not a *bad* early pick, but the SEP field helps out a lot with our initial vulnerabilities.

If anything, I'd drop one of the Unique Traits before I dropped the SEP field. The Unique Traits are really valuable long-term sources of power, but the SEP field is the thing that's going to keep us alive.

To Ride Again [Canon] [Ayaz Ata Trilogy] [Cyberphilosipher]
TO RIDE AGAIN!

(Ayaz POV)

The cold winter frost hissed across the window of your house calmly…the ever-present mist of an evening with good company has in its gaze and time given a moment of recollection.

Old friends had faded, moved away, or changed with the times yet Ayaz's accommodations were joyful, clean, and above all welcoming to those quiet and weary travelers, what once was hovels on the plains, palaces of kings and caliphs alike and simple homes of farmers and city dwellers; the faces kept changing and time passes and yet the quiet dignity and welcome sense remained.

And yet that joyful quiet could not last forever. They have finally come for you…as they had come for all now.

Amazon…the company? Now they've come after the rest of us! What insanity possesses them!

It had come to a shock when Santa had been…not killed but more a passing of the torch to another to keep the damnable company from ruling over what was left.

A question for another time perhaps?

The mist's clarity gave way to holes and shadows, moving groups and movement.

Even now they attempt to siege me down, with a show of force…children.

You shook your head in disappointment. Such greed was unbecoming of naughty children and their toys, this would be your home no longer.

The hearth still burned, and as long as it did, there was hope. You reached for the staff leaning against the wall, its wood worn smooth by centuries of use, and felt its familiar weight settle in your hands.

"They will need more than a birch staff to be disciplined this time." You mused as you turned and prepared your coat to hold a few more surprises, and finally travel.

The Old Staff would help on the roads ahead but there needed to be more practical tools as well.

Opening a closed room, you lit a match and allowed the old candles within the room to finally be lit after many years. Old Weapons from old battles across the plains of the Eurasian steppe and more were neatly organized into small shelves and tables.

It was time to finally shake the rust off of an old banner, from when you rode with the rest of the Tengari pantheon. That of a warrior, who brought the great winter storms to the unworthy and the faithless.

You smiled. "My old Warbow, my old blade. It has been too long since I have brought my wrath in anger."

You grabbed several arrows and your sword to your belt.

These heathens would die for coming to take you away and slave for their greed.

It was the sensible thing to do.

*BANG BANG BANG!*

"OPEN UP WE HAVE A WARRANT!" The Voice shouted as the door.

Ahh, so they had hired local help. A shame.

You counted to three, Exhaled, and released.

The arrow pierced the wooden door and killed the fuck on the other side of it, they're scared now.

Scared and stupid.

Scared and stupid people…make mistakes.

You turned off the lights and they would break the door and rush in.

Three more arrows flew and three more bodies hit the floor.

They were getting desperate now.

Poor sods.

The last one, ran in a gun ready to tear you apart with bullets.

A swift running strike with the bow itself and he was on the ground.

You put your boot on his neck and smiled. "I am going to count to three and you are going to tell me who sent you."

"One." You started.

"FUCKING PAGAN-!" He shouted.

"Two." You said putting more pressure onto him and then releasing the pressure like a gas peddle.

"I will not give some lesser!" He said.

Why did they always say lesser, they did know who you were.

Children these days have no respect for the winter cold, too used to their heated homes and without working for their wood and tinder.

"Three." You said. "Return to dust and snow."

The Pressure of your boot came down and the death rattle rang in your ears.

"Damn, now I have not a single answer." You said.
The questions swirled in your mind like snowflakes caught in a bitter wind, each unique yet fleeting, dissolving before clarity could take hold. The questions were numerous, but the answers remained elusive.

Why had those men attacked you? What had driven them to such reckless audacity?

Was it greed that compelled them;coins exchanged for your blood? Or was it sheer ignorance, a foolhardy underestimation of who you truly were?

The motives mattered little in the immediate sense. The world, as it always had, was a patient storyteller. Time would reveal their intentions, as it always did, stripping away layers of deceit until only the raw, naked truth remained.

For now, the present demands your focus.

You, Ayaz Ata the Frost Father; the Eternal Wanderer, stood at the edge of a decision. The staff, a companion through countless ages, rested against your palm as though it were a living thing, attuned to the will of its master. Its carved length bore the marks of untold journeys, its weight a steady reminder of your purpose.

This was not the first time you had been hunted. And it would not be the last.

You wrapped your cloak around your shoulders, its heavy folds imbued with the chill of countless winters. Outside, the frost whispered across the landscape, eager to follow its master. The air carried a familiar stillness, the kind that always came before the first steps of a new journey.

The path ahead was unclear, but that was the nature of wandering. You did not walk to find answers; you walked because it was in your very being to do so. Wherever you tread, the frost followed, blanketing the earth in silver tranquility.

And so, Ayaz Ata, the Frost Father, began your wandering once more. The echoes of ancient stories stirred in your wake, as they always did, carried forward on the breath of the icy winds.

AN: Tengari is please with The Frost Father spilling blood!
The Omake is the start of something of a Small travel mystery plot…Where it goes from here? I don't know yet but it's gonna be fun.

If you want a Char sheet boss I'll make it but I'll be sure to check before posting it.

Enjoy!

I loved it!

I'm putting it's status as To Be Determined for the moment, as I do want to see how this ends up, since you did say this might become a mystery plot. I also need to read up on Ayaz Ata and the Tengari, as I have never heard of either. Time to Wiki Dive first thing tomorrow. Also, I'd love a Character Sheet.

I'm probably heading to bed, as I am dead tired. Vote should be open through most if not all of tomorrow. Night!

Edit: Almost forgot, reward also to be determined.

Okay, so looking at it, Jack Frost's stats go way up when it gets cold... and his intrigue goes from "pushing the outer limits of possibility" to "Wait. What?"

Also, he has extra bonuses for diplo and romance against winter-based members of the unseen world... which includes almost everyone who's directly involved in this particular fracas, and a lot of entities who'd fit into our themes pretty well. As such... well, wiht Jack on board, the super-freezer actually starts having some real benefits for home defense. So... what do we get if we try *not* beign so utterly greedy?

Starting from my previous plan, if we ditch the time compactor (high-value, rare, long-term gain, but generic), that lets us pick up the Spirit Solidifier (specific value for our particular case) *and* the Freezer Room, and have a total of 23 left over rather than 8. Freezer room is weird because we have a very serious short-term use case for it in helping poor Jack Frost recover from his injuries and melting, but the long-term usage isn't so great? I suppose we could let him use it as housing... and, in turn, having that as his pad might let him leverage his cold-themed seduction skills a bit harder. So... well, we're supposed to be the new Santa. Forgoing greed in favor of helping out our friends seems like a good start for that.

[x] Plan Work What You Got
-[x] Maid unique trait: 25 points
-[x] Maid major upgrade: 10 points
-[x] The Toy Shop unique trait: 25 points
-[x] The Toy Shop major upgrade: 10 points
-[x] SEP Field Generator: 30 points
-[x] Freezer Room: 15 points
-[x] Spirit Solidifier: 20 points
-[x] Crafting Workshop Minor Upgrade x3: 3 pts

This plan basically says...
- the Time Compactor, while incredibly shiny, is just more expensive than we can really afford right now
- We have unique advantages that have extra-cheap upgrades, and we should leverage that hard
- SEP field, Freezer Room, and Spirit Solidifier are all three things that are directly useful to us in solving immediate-term problems and/or leveraging some of our advantages

It doesn't bother with the cheaper upgrades for the most part, mostly because I'm pretty sure that that stuff is all Stewardship-dependent, and Stewardship is something that we have *solidly*. It tosses the last three points into the Crafting Workshop because it juices up the Toy Shop hard enough that the Crafting Workshop is going to need all the help it can get to keep up.

Given all of this, is would *probably* be worth seeing if we could put together some sort of Occult action to extend the effects of the freezer room across most of the rest of the Workshop - essentially making it winter year-round inside of our own protected space. That's the kind of thing that wants to wait until Jack Frost is healed, though.

"FUCKING PAGAN-!" He shouted.

Interesting that he'd use heathen and be called pagan, both originally being christian slurs for allegedly uncultered people not following an Abrahamic religion, one based on a germanic word and one a latin word.

That is assuming he doesn't get hurt again.
Its kind of like a medical wing for him in case future mischief ends with him hurt again.
He'll probably have to take risks, but we can deal with the potential consequences of failure.

And between current Freezer and "eternal winter" we could have a bigger walk-in Freezer as home for the Frost aligned spirits.
