Operation Weihnachtswunder (A CK2 Style Quest to Save Christmas!)

[X] You are Ebenezer Scrooge. The Spirits of Christmas helped you see the error of your ways, once. Enough that it changed your fate in ways no one had intended. Now is the time to repay the favor, by saving Christmas. You'll have spirits helping you, as well as your business sense and your hatred of Greed. (You'll start with the Spirits of Christmas, as well as the Spirit of Marley and two Gifts. You start with Maxed out Stewardship. You have a Hatred towards the Greedy.)

[x] You are Krampus. Where Santa brought cheer and happiness to good kids, you punished the naughty ones. You are also a Demon, though you forsook Satan after spending some time with the jolly St. Nick. If you're the choice to continue Christmas, something has gone horribly wrong. Well, time to bring punishment, because there are a lot of people on the Naughty List. (When you punish wickedness, you generate Spirit and gain benefits. You start with your Sack, and two Gifts. Both Satan and God hate you)

Character Creation 02 - The Gifts
The Gifts

Santa managed to get two Gifts to you, which you will take hold of in Character Creation 3 - The Second Letter. These are powerful Gifts that can help save Christmas. It will be hard to get hold of the rest of these during the Quest, so choose wisely.

The Gifts of Santa

[ ] The Sleigh - Santa managed to get his Sleigh out of the North Pole. While it needs the Reindeer to actually fly, it can still act like ground transportation when needed. Furthermore, the Sleigh provides the ability to travel the world in one night, via time manipulation.

[ ] The Sack - Santa managed to get his Sack out of the North Pole. While you will need to work on accessing its full power, you can still pull out a decent amount of toys from it. It also acts as a Bag of Holding only you or someone greater than you can access.

[ ] The Coat - Santa has managed to get his magical coat out of the North Pole. It allows you to enter locations stealthily, without noise and without concern for locks. However, you must access its full power to gain the rest of the benefits.

[ ] The List - Santa got the Naughty and Nice list out of the North Pole. You can see who has been bad and good, provided you know their name or are within your line of sight. But there's more you can do with it, provided you spend the time to research it.

[ ] The Staff - Santa managed to get the Staff of Ded Moroz out of the North Pole. Admittedly, you are unfamiliar with the item, but you can tell there is powerful magic in it. And someone trapped inside…

[ ] The Broom - Santa managed to get the Broom of La Befana out of the North Pole. This is not meant for you. However, it knows how to find La Befana, a powerful witch associated with Christmas and Epiphany.

The Gifts of the Magi

[ ] - The Gold of Melchior - Gold, as to a King. Three times in this Quest, you may spend the Gold of Melchior to buy an extra three actions for a Turn.

[ ] - The Frankincense of Balthasar - Incense, as to a Savior. Three times this Quest, you may turn a Failure into a Natural 100.

[ ] - The Myrrh of Caspar - Myrrh, as to a Mortal. Three times this Quest, if a Quest End would happen, it does not. Instead, the QM will figure out a way to keep the Quest, the Main Character, and Christmas alive until at least the end of the turn.

[ ] - The Life of Artaban - Sacrifice, as to the Least of These. Four times this Quest, if an Ally or an Innocent would die, or suffer a terrible fate, it does not happen. Instead, they will be whisked away from it. The fourth time you use this, you will soon die. (The Quest will not end, and you'll have just enough time to appoint a new Santa.)

The Gifts of Help

[ ] Blitzen - Blitzen managed to escape the North Pole, with more complete knowledge of what happened in the Takeover. He is also the fastest of the Nine, and can fly. - You gain the services of Blitzen. If you took the Sleigh as a gift, you can now fly the Sleigh. Blitzen is strong enough to carry you.

[ ] Jack Frost - Probably the trickiest of the known Christmas Spirits, he loves to have fun at other expense. Never anything really dangerous though, unless it's aimed at an enemy. Also, Ice Puns. Too many ice Puns. - You start with Jack Frost as an Intrigue Adviser.

[X] Blitzen - Blitzen managed to escape the North Pole, with more complete knowledge of what happened in the Takeover. He is also the fastest of the Nine, and can fly. - You gain the services of Blitzen. If you took the Sleigh as a gift, you can now fly the Sleigh. Blitzen is strong enough to carry you.

I feel like we need help starting out, and I like Blitzen better than Jack Frost. And, well, Blitzen does work well with the Sleigh, so that's my vote.

So, here is the unfinished Character Sheet. This may help you with decision making. (I was able to do the rolls, but had to go to work before I could finish it)

Ebenezer Scrooge

Martial: 4 - You've never really been much of a fighter, though you know how to whack someone with your cane.

Diplomacy: 15 - Being more cheerful and giving has done wonders on how you deal with people!

Stewardship: 30 - You know your way around business and money more than most people alive. You use it for good now, rather than personal gain.

Intrigue: 1 - Honesty was probably one of your few good traits before your redemption. However, that means you are not well versed in the art of subterfuge and deception.

Learning: 17 - You're pretty smart, all things considered. Any good leader of business should be..

Occult: 30 - You deal with Christmas Spirits, can see ghosts, and are now Literally Santa. Oh, you know how to work with the Unseen World.

Traits:

The New Santa

Gatherer of Spirits

Hatred: Greed

Spirits:

The Ghost of Christmas Past

The Ghost of Christmas Present

The Ghost of Christmas Future

Jacob Marley, The Herald of Scrooge

Absolutely vital that the corporate raiders and venture capitalists don't have access to the private user data of [all of humanity]

Also this is Scrooge doing his best with a good ledger to audit, and with the tools of his old miserly trade to not just redeem himself but actively do good fighting fire with fire against Santa's Workshoppe Inc.'s or North Pole Enterprises's or whatever the company is called's lawfare.

How long will turns be if this whole Quest lasts only a single day?

Good question! However, this quest will take more then a single day. You're trying to save Christmas for all time, and that takes time! Especially against Amazon. Good news is, you have five years of Christmas Spirt banked from Santa, so you've got time!

Turns go as following: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, December, Christmas, Twelve Nights. (Note: I'm willing to combine Winter/Spring and/or Summer/Fall if everyone feels these are too many turns a year. Let me know!) December/Christmas/Twelve Nights count as Holiday Time. Christmas counts as Christmas, obviously.

I should note that on Christmas, one of your Actions are automatically locked in: Deliver Presents. You may or may not also be locked in to Deliver Presents on Twelfth Night as well, depending on actions. You'll be using the rest of the time to rebuild the workshop, hire new toymakers, talk with the other Holidays, bring peace and goodwill to the earth, and plenty of other things I'm hiding behind my QM screen.

[X] The List - Santa got the Naughty and Nice list out of the North Pole. You can see who has been bad and good, provided you know their name or are within your line of sight. But there's more you can do with it, provided you spend the time to research it.

@bookwyrm makes a good point about this synergizing well with Scrooge's own talents.

Even if we don't get the sleigh another ally is good.

[X] - The Life of Artaban - Sacrifice, as to the Least of These. Four times this Quest, if an Ally or an Innocent would die, or suffer a terrible fate, it does not happen. Instead, they will be whisked away from it. The fourth time you use this, you will soon die. (The Quest will not end, and you'll have just enough time to appoint a new Santa.)

The Life of Artaban It's our life insurance for this quest.

looks like the sleigh/blitzen's going to win? voting's almost over so not much point of trying to change anything, but seems like a good pick regardless. we get the ability to go anywhere (presumably great for getting stuff done, especially if we want to keep up worldwide present delivery)+blitzen's knowledge which should be pretty handy for knowing what to do(if they were a possible player character their stats should be high too?) and the combination effect which is a nice bonus.

one disadvantage i see though is that amazon still gets the rest of the reindeer, and while i doubt they'd be very useful for them without the sleigh that would be the case even if they had blitzen still, so them escaping is worse for the sake of resource denial than another gift would be, even if blitzen being with us is still very helpful?
basically, taking gifts like the sleigh means amazon can't try and use them, which seems like a strong point in favor for getting some of the gifts. i guess if they start being exploited then stealing them back should shoot up in priority?
hopefully they won't have much luck with that, but we'll have to see.

Good Morning! Looks like you have the Sleigh and Blitzen! Synergy!

I'll go more into details later, but for now I will roll the fate of the rest of the Gifts

Edit: As you chose Blitzen, you know the following:

The Coat, The Staff, The Gold, and the Myrrh have made it out of the North Pole, though Blitzen doesn't know where they are.

Blitzen + Sleigh allows for an easier Escape Check for all Gifts of Help

Jack Frost Escape Check (DC 60/90): 90.

Jack Frost, with the help of Blitzen, escaped in the Sleigh. Jack Frost is now your Intrigue Adviser, though he starts with the Malus: Injured and Defrosted.

we seem to be doing pretty well on having allies, jack frost to help with intrigue seems especially handy if we start with 2 there

Yep. You've gotten a pretty good start, with some good luck. (Rolling Max Occult, Starting with Ignorance and Want, Jack's mad Escape.)

Also, Midwinter doesn't have the Gold or the Myrrh. There goes the insane expansion and insurance policy. They still has the Incense and the Life, though the latter is pretty useless to them
