oh, using our store won? having to deal with being public may be a pain (and like
@Sirrocco mentioned it'd mean having blitzen in easy reach), but at the very least we probably need to do less setup if we already have toy-production facilities, people employed and whatnot, so we can go straight onto the important things?
ok, so to deal with our issue with being easy to find, I think that rather than fending off constant harassment it's probably worth taking a few steps to avoid our identity getting out if at all possible? we could at least try to avoid certain things that'd expose us early on in the quest, and worst case scenario with that is we get a grace period to set up without being messed with
I'm not sure exactly what options would be available, but if write-ins are allowed/i predict options successfully I've got some ideas to try? i imagine to prevent getting exposed we'd need to both prevent people from noticing the supernatural stuff going on (and sharing that info) and to prevent the connection being made that the new Santa is Scrooge.
for the former we may want to pre-emptively swear our employees to secrecy to avoid rumors getting out (presumably they'll see blatantly supernatural stuff if we're using the workshop seed to improve everything so can't be kept in the dark)
and try to prevent anyone unrelated from noticing the movements of stuff like the sleigh/allies in the area so maybe we can use christmas spirit to upgrade the sleigh to travel underwater/disguise itself as a car? traveling by sea when moving off continents and blitzen getting in and driving it (as in, it's landbound functionality) might be a good bet to get around any satellite cameras or anything :P
for the latter, we'd probably need to be careful with public action we do to stop people finding out that the new santa's name is scrooge. in most situatons we could just *not* say this, but with minimum intrigue it may be pretty hard. maybe if we use intermediaries like jack frost when he's better?
and maybe if we have the time we could make a quiet marketing push to clear up that our business being called "scrooge and marley's" is just a cute branding thing, or other form of smokescreen? legally changing names may be a bit much/draw the wrong attention but you never know
that's quite a lot of stuff admittedly so a total longshot that it'd work out/even be an option, but it's fun to guess at possibilities?
perhaps more pratically, it may be worth trying to improve Blitzen's(and the reindeers we haven't saved yet) legal situation before getting sent to court about it, hopefully rolling +50 something in stewardship will help here?
hmm, no clue what the contract says, but presumably the fact that slavery's illegal and Rudolph probably doesn't own the other reindeer to be selling them in the first place would help lower its legitimacy? so could be worth giving it a thorough look through if we get the chance, see if there's any vulnerabilities like that.
I also imagine in mundane courts it might be somewhat difficult for amazon/midwinter to actually claim some we stole their reindeer, since it'd be be hard to prove Blitzen's the specific reindeer they "own" when we never did anything to steal it and also it travelled to a completely separate continent, especially if the supernatural side is being kept secret so they can't explain how it happened?. maybe we could help Blitzen get rid of any identification tags or the like to prevent them from being positively identified (and making it impossible for Amazon/Midwinter to "prove" blitzen is "theirs", perhaps swapping them with a completely mundane reindeer's if need be? that part may be slightly illegal, though...
(any thoughts on these ideas? as a disclaimer, if anything above is too metagamey or not possible in the first place then that's totally fair, I'm just having a bit of fun scheming :)
