Operation Weihnachtswunder (A CK2 Style Quest to Save Christmas!)

On a fluff level, the fact that he can effectively teleport-spam when within 50 feet of Scrooge or Marley, or when inside the Workshop... well....

I suppose that the fact that he likes to cross-dress does fit in with that early 19th century Christmas vibe. He celebrates Christmas in his own way.

and to think we feared the scrooge+blitzen stewardship combo
so uh, you know how scrooge has 30 stewardship, and gets +25 to all stats on christmas? and now we have a hero who can copy that? now that sounds like the real Christmas miracle
You know whats worse?
Maid Arts: Kneel and Break - You will not tolerate disrespect towards either of your Masters in your presence. Those that do will be made to kneel. Those who refuse to kneel will Break. +5 Martial. Variable Bonus to Martial against those who disrespect, insult, or attack Ebenezer Scrooge or Jacob Marley. Those who attempt such actions within 1 Kilometer of you, and have a lower Martial + Occult than you, gain one Instance of "Maid Art Penalty: Kneel And Break."
"disrespect, insult, attack Ebenezer Scrooge or Jacob Marley"
Disrespect like... Ignoring an order to surrender given by or in the name of Mister Scrooge?
Or trespassing any of the areas the Maid could teleport to?
Or trying to apropriate Christmas from Mister Scrooge, the real Santa, as Amazon are trying to do?
"1 Kilometer of you"
Nice AOE.
"lower Martial+Occult than you"
Our maid has Martial of 28.
Scrooge has Occult of 36. Or 40 during the Holidays. Or 60 during Christmas.

During Christmas Wesley could hand out those instances like candy.

Next To Godliness - (Fluff). +3 to Stewardship and Occult. You can interact with a person's Uncleanliness, and attempt to purify them of it. +10 to cleaning and purification rolls, as well as general maid duties
That is good.
But you know what?
If interacting with the Uncleanliness of a person is an occult thing...
60 Occult from Scrooge during Christmas.
+10 from "Next to Godliness"
If its Occult+Stewardship (the values boosted by the traits)... Scrooge has 31 Stewardship, 55 during Christmas.

Warning: This one is a little bit heavy.

Toy Shop's Unique Trait

Mandatory Reporting - The Toy Shop wants people who come in to feel welcome and safe. But sometimes, they aren't. And the Shop will find out those who are responsible.

The longer someone is in the Shop, the more the Shop learns who is hurting them. And if that person is also in the Shop, the Shop finds out more about them too. More is learned if the person being hurt is a child.

What the Shop knows, you know.

New Options Unlocked.

It's not quite that abusive. He can only use Scrooge's stats once per turn.

It's significant, but not spammable.
39+"Variable Bonus to Martial against those who disrespect, insult, or attack Ebenezer Scrooge or Jacob Marley."
vs
Martial+Occult

5+36=41, outside of Christmas+Holidays Scrooge would eat instances if variable bonus is 3 or more.

7+17=24 Jack Frost would eat instances

16+4+2*5=30 Blitzen would eat instances even if healed of his trauma.

Looking at our current characters as yard stick, there is a good chance that Amazon goons would take instances until they stop disrespecting Scrooge.
Which means until they stop doing Amazon stuff within 1 km of Wesley.

Depends on how broad that definition of "disrespect" is.

Like, informing them that they are trespassing on Mr Scrooge's private property will almost certainly get that sort of thing on defense if they're going places where they shouldn't be going. That's significant, to be sure. It'll drop on anyone who isn't properly verbally respectful as well. It is a good way to shut down simple goons. It's going to require work to leverage it on anything other than the defense, though.

Also...

Well, Mandatory Reporting would be so *much* more useful for the Krampus. Figuring out how to leverage this in a Christmas-affirming way is going to be interesting.

We'll be taking our version of Christmas a bit darker, I suppose.

Does being an abuser count as Uncleanliness?
Scrooge and Wesley visit the abuser and clean him.
It does not?
Send the spirits of Christmas+Marley (who counts as one) to have the abuser change their way. Giving the child a gift of the safety all kids should have.

The Other Stuff

Freezer Room - The Freezer Room is quite cool! Partitioned so you can store different things in different "rooms". You can hold 400 Units of Stuff. Any Cold/Ice/Snow characters can spend some time here to cool off, and help them recover from Injuries. Malus: Defrosted lessens to Minorly Defrosted at the end of Twelve Night 2025, and Removed at the end of Winter 2025

Jack Frost has turned part of it into his permanent living chambers. 100/400 Units Occupied.

The Freezer Room can also be vented throughout the workshop as a Countermeasure. It can be vented four times, and each time it can inflict debuffs and damage to intruders. Those who do not have protection from the cold will suffer more, and those who have Hot, Fire, or Lava elements to them suffer even more.

Spirit Solidifier - Spirits that normally cannot interact with the Seen World now can, as long as they remain in the Workshop! Which means you can now hire them to work for you! You may now hire Spirits to work for Santa. And you know where a lot of spirits are! New Options Unlocked!

Roll (D8): 7

You start with Seven Spirit Employees!
You are no longer Elf Locked

SEP Field Generator: Ever want to make things just less interesting, and something that is really just someone else's problem? Well, now you can! The SEP Field helps keep the Seen World from looking too closely at things. Or even nosy members of the Unseen World! Any attempt to notice something unusual, by a being with 15 or less Occult who does not already know about it, Auto-Fails. Any attempt by someone with less than 30 Occult, or already knows about it, takes -20 to the roll. This does not apply to Santa or any of his workers, obviously.

These can all be improved later on!

3 Minor Upgrades (Crafting Room) + Sirocco Bonus: 4 Minor Upgrades
+4 Crafting Tables. You now have 8 Crafting Tables. 7 Occupied. 1 Free Crafting Table Remains

The Workshop is Operational. Christmas Is Not Dead.
-10 to Amazon and Blake Midwinter during Twelve Nights.

not the sort of thing that's directly beneficial from a logistical perspective but probably pretty important to those kids, and their happiness could in turn be useful?

it would also give us information on some bad actors, though not everyone who's a jerk abuses kids and those who do are probably less likely to go to a random toy shop, so i'm not sure if we'd get any convenient high profile targets for the sprits or anything...

seems like the issue would be actually using the information. maybe it would be good if we got in good with/got someone good in social servies to make use of the info effectively? that way the problems we find can be solved and we get governmental contacts (barely)

I mean, lots of abusive parents keep up a nice facade in public, so there's still a high probability of them dragging their kids along to a toy shop, especially if they're the type to try and use gifts to "make up" for abusive behavior.

Working on the Workshop Sheet. Will be posted to the front page when done. Also, I owe you a Major Upgrade on the Toy Shop (Major Upgrade did not go to the Trait.)

Alright, this is the official Novus Good Morning post! I am feeling good and energized.

So, bit of an explanation: I am doing the Front Page work first, because admittedly I am not the best at it. So it's a point of focus for this quest. That does mean a slight delay on the first update, but I feel like I want you to have all the information before making decisions. As Turn 0 is Twelve Night, it will be a little different then the Normal Turns, as you're getting everything up and running to start Turn 1 (Winter).

Also, Toy Storage is now Storage. Since I still want you to have plenty of room to story both toys, and non-toys, I've added 5,000 Units to the storage to reflect this.

If all goes well, first update should be no earlier then tonight, and no later then Monday.

And seriously, thank you all for coming along with me on this quest. I think you're going to enjoy this.

Front Page is (Hopefully) done! There were a few increases in Christmas Spirit expenditures, due to the Special Features. But nothing major, and they will pay back in spades!

Also, The Toy Store's Major Upgrade is revealed! The Shop can generate a lot more Christmas Spirit then before! Except on Christmas, when the shop is Closed.

Edit: One Last Roll
Novus Ordo Mundi threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: One More Thing... Total: 65
65 65

are all the weapons going to be similarly christmasy? like a turkey bazooka?

Any weapon developed in the Workshop will most likely be Christmas-themed at first. Though once you get a Master of Arms (or a Martial Adviser), you can acquire other Mythological Weapons, or even Mundane Weapons! Or, you can make Stewardship Actions to make trades, though you'd need to make some diplomatic ventures first for that.

Also, I like the idea of a Turkey Bazooka! +1 Turkey Bazooka

What research path to get Christmastree-machineguns?
That being:
A decorated Christmas tree, attack is the tree starting to spin faster and faster until ornaments fly where the tree is aiming.
Supernaturally, the ornaments are only flying into that direction and somehow the ornaments on the tree aren't getting less despite ornaments flying off.

That actually sounds like a Countermeasure then a Weapon. Especially since trees are pretty big. Though I could say that they can be mobile, with two Spirits carrying it to a location, then activating it. That might need it's own category. Probably a Heavy Weapon? I'd need to think on that.
