If more info on Cathay is needed, Total Warhammer 3: the Dawn of Grand Cathay is coming out. You could use that here. The trailer is on youtube now.
Thanks for the suggestion.
A question has been on my mind for a while. How are Mordred and her people interacting with other Faith's, like not just Empire faiths but The Lady, Myrmidia, Verena, Morr, Shallya. Does the Cult of Mordred get along with other faiths? How are the faiths treated in Mordreds Queendom?
Well, I don't really know much about the lady besides that according to law, only male knights are allowed to worship her and can never retreat or else they forfeit their blessings and that they sometimes abandon their wives and children to chase the dream of becoming what are basically the ladies version of daemons aka grail knights. So I can't really say, probably treated like most religions that aren't the lady but with less respect because it is pretty new.
For other faiths that are part of the main world pantheon like Shallya, Verena, Morr, Tal, Myrmidia, etc. It is actually a pretty easy integration, there is tons of minor gods much like japan has but aren't universally accepted. There are some wild theories on how Mordred fights into their mythology, ranging from Mordred being the daughter of Ranald and Shallya who was raised by Myrmidia or that when Giles Le Breton and Abhorash duelled, Mordred was born from the blood split that day or insert crazy theory here. Mostly, Mordred is just another goddess to the massive amount of gods in the world and is used to fill in as one of the few lightning gods and the only god of magic besides the Architect of Fate.
For the most part, outside of being the capital of the cult of Mordred, faiths in Drachenreich are about the same as anywhere else but Morr as treated more important because of how Mordred has placed such importance of care of the dead, she's done this for several reason, one is to keep the dead bodies lying around to a minimum. a second is it helps contain the undead trying to raise up, another is that since souls are very real here, it is worth the effort to give as many people as possible a chance to go to Morr and not be stuck floating around where anyone from Chaos to necromancers can grab them.
I believe it is considered a Border Prince area? Remenants may have fled there to hunt down?
Someone brought up the areas to conquer in the area, a Castle Blackstone, Filled with Undead.. is it a Training Ground for her Child for when they grow up?
Well, after looking on the wiki, it seems that
Wreckers are river bandits, so wrecker's run is probably a stretch of river infamous for them but there is no Wrecker's Run page on the wiki to confirm.
With how many various threats and problems there are in Warhammer, there is no way Mordred would let things like castles filled with undead sit around for decades in her backyard just because she wanted a training tool for her kid. She could just go to the badlands or darklands or ask the dwarfs to let them fight the skaven running around in their tunnels or something. there is no need to make her people suffer just for an easily replaceable training tool.
Important Question!
Is it a Boy or a Girl?
Spoilers~
Seriously, I've spent so much effort into only say Mordred's kid or child that I'm not giving it up that easily. I might be pretty free with spoilers as an author but this is one I want to keep until the next chapter which is when Mordred has finally given birth.
In a fit of irony for the family, it's a boy who likes to pretend he is a girl to be closer to his mother.
That would be interesting but no, Mordred/I would strive not to make any version of Nagisa Shiota. He might be an awesome character but his relationship with his mother is almost as bad and twisted as Mordred's.
I could do with a little more storytelling and a little less 'Mordred narrates a summary of events', though. It can help to try to focus in on specific details to evoke your scenes.
What was it like for the normal dude when the dragon descended to confront Mordred? Was there an aura of menace? Was he afraid? What did that feel like? Was it a sensation somewhere in his body? What was the smell of the land? Was it abysmally hot? Cold? Dry? Humid? Was it like the whole world was an oven and it's all dust and sun-baked earth, or is it more swamp and squelching mud and like being trapped in a sauna with no way out? That scene had a lot of potential, but you needed to build a little tension. From Mordred's perspective the dragon was never a serious threat, sure, but did the Random McDuderson from whose perspective the interlude was told have any idea by how much Mordred outclassed the dragon?
Thanks for bringing this up, part of the reason why I post this is to get this kind of feedback. As much as I love seeing people say how much they love my story and it warms my heart, I really can't improve as a writer without people giving me constructive critique like this. I'll try to keep this in mind as I go forward, I knew I was defaulting to what I refer to as "summarizing" and not actually telling the story but no one had said anything and writing things like interactions between people is so stressful for me that I instinctively avoid it despite the consequences I know it has on the story quality.
