The current bandwagon seems to be using five actions out of four. Are we using IEU to study magic while working on the car?

Swift thought needs to be upgraded by 2 XP at least to last an action, you need to either upgrade IEU to last a whole day, and then either up your magic pool or reduce it's cost by 1 so you can actually cast it.

Right now, for a single day, you are casting Student's Boon in the morning with a full pool of 13, which drops you down to 7, then 6 hours later, you're casting IEU, which drops you to nothing. 3 hours later, your casting Swift Thought and Thought Excitation, which as is only last about a minute each, as they are now.

With the Omake, you have 6 XP to spend, and you are using 5 actions. One to work on the car, and 4 studying.

I would recomend spending 1 XP to upgrade IEU to daylong, 1 XP to Magic Pool, then 2 XP each to the duration of Swift Thought and Thought Excitation.

You're daily magic casting schedule would then look like this:

Student's Boon at 7 AM, with a full pool of 14, which drops you down to 8, then 6 hours later at 1 PM, you're casting IEU, which drops you to nothing. 7 hours later, 8 PM, your casting Swift Thought and Thought Excitation, which now last a couple of hours each. Enough for one action, and with enough time left to take that action in a day before you need to sleep.

So, you're morning action Saturday, you would only have Student's Boon, your evening action, you'd have all 4 spells, Sunday Morning you'd recast Student's Boon at 7 AM, but still have IEU going till 1, then again have all 4 spells going for Sunday's evening action.

IEU, when it's active, and it would only be active for 3 out of 4 actions this weekend with only 6 XP available, would give you an extra mental action. Assuming Magic Study for all of three of them, that would mean 8 XP on the Saturday Evening Action, 4 XP on the Sunday morning Action, and 8 XP on the Sunday Evening Action, for 20 XP total.

Saturday morning's action would be the car repair, or wait till after 1 for magic study, so you can have SB and IEU, giving you 4 additional XP.

Truly, some powerful combinations going on here.

So, should we edit our posts to upgrade Swift Thought?

Looking over the vote, it seems I messed up the math by forgetting that you haven't already bought Swift Thought and Thought Excitation. You guys need another 4 XP if you want Swift Thought and Thought Excitation upgraded to be in an action usable state for 1.4.

I would recommend forgetting both of them and just use the 4 XP to boost your Magic Pool, in addition to the XP already marked for it, would put you at 18 Magic, then after casting SB at 7, would put you at 12, which would allow you to move casting the upgraded IEU up to 9 AM.

At 1 Car action and 3 Magic Study actions, SB giving you an extra XP per magic study action, and IEU giving you 4 more mental actions, this would give you 14 XP for the weekend. 9 of those would then be spend on buying and upgrading Swift Thought and Thought Excitation into day long spells for 1.5. Then I would put the 5 remaining XP into Magic Regen, bumping it up to 29/day, or 1.21/hour, as at this point, you're spending 29 magic a day with these four spells. (6 for SB, 14 for IEU, 4 for ST, 5 for TE)

Daily Casting schedule for 1.5 would look like this:

7 AM, Student's Boon (-6, 12 left), 9 AM, Incomparable Efficiency Upgrade (-14, 0 left), 1 PM, Swift Thought (-4, 0 left), 6 PM, Thought Excitation (-5, 0 left).

Of course, this brings up how IEU works during the weekdays. You have more than 4 actions during the week, but those are taken up by school, chores, eating, family time, etc. IEU basically gives you, and extra you in your head during the time it's active, so during the weekdays, you would have a lot more mental actions available. 6 more, to be precise. Now, with Student's Boon, Daryl has a very good memory, but it's not perfect (hint for 1.6), so he'll only take a -1 to mental actions were he doesn't have reference material at hand.

A pure magic study (minus one action for promised school studying) week for 1.5 would look like this. 6 mental actions while doing other things (+4 XP each) but no access to your magic notes during those actions (-1 XP each) These extra mental actions would net you 18 XP. Then the 3 after school actions (and 3 more mental actions) where you do have access to your magic notes would give you 4 XP each, for 24 XP. This is 42 XP total for a pure magic study 1.5.

I believe that you guys can speculate from here. Also, if any of you worry about our social stuff degrading or anything, don't be. A few weeks isn't enough to do anything serious to your friendships and acquaintances, and Daryl's Social Media perk let's him keep up with everyone online for no actions, thus maintaining all social ties. Unless their some sort of digital recluse, anyway.

That said, you can't really gain new or improve existing social ties online either, not without a good deal more effort than face to face would get you.

Sigh... editing once again

Edit: Also, you fudged up the math again. If we were to burn all our Xp on Magic we would have 19 magic not 18. We are upgrading from a pool of 13 magic. Trust me, I'm asian and an engineer. And by the laws of Hollywood stereotypes it means I'm better than you at math.

Also, I'm just going to upgrade IEU and spend on the magic pool

You have 13 magic now, one XP was already planned to boost this to 14, then I recommended adding 4 more XP to it, for 18.

1.4 It's the Economy, Stupid

Daryl is sitting at his desk, having just cast his new spell, Incomparable Efficiency Upgrade. 'This feels so weird.' 'I know, you're there-' '-and I'm here.' "Sort of like talking to an imaginary friend-' '-but being able to be the imaginary friend-' '-and myself-' '-at the same time'.

Daryl shook his, their? head, and grabbed the bag of electronic parts he got yesterday (-$100) and headed out to the garage. A simple manual job should help them, him, get used to having two trains of thought before he really focused on his magical studies this weekend. (Electronics improved to 'bad')

It actually went rather well. After half an hour or so getting used to it, he was able to focus both on working on the Electronics of the car, and theorizing about some new spells, with no loss of focus or distraction for either action, aside from the occasional glance at his magic notes for some things he couldn't quite remember right.

It was a trend that would continue throughout the weekend, where Daryl accomplished more in a single weekend than he had in the last month of magical study. IEU was an incredible spell. And combined with the spells he was currently working on, it would he would do even better next week.

(3 actions, 4 IEU actions taken for Magic Study, +18 XP, 1 action taken for Car: Electronics repair, -$100, status upgraded to 'bad')

The third week of school beckons, choose 3 regular actions, and 4 IEU mental actions, $1080 available.

We still have a lot of XPs left over so I'll leave my vote open to editing if you guys have other ideas on what to spend it on? Like some better spells to deal with the car

According to Gear, we will need 30-40 EXP to get spells that allow us to recreate objects. Something we would need for engine and such.

Or you could spend it on a level 2 matter based repair spell so you have two of them for a level 3 engine repairing spell. You'd kind of be starting from scratch making a copying spell.

Isn't that the same though?

We need to know goal(how working engine is supposed to "look") in both cases, and then there is rather small difference between moving particles of something similar(in this case broken engine) to goal(working engine), and moving particles of random dirt to the goal.

Except second is better in long run since we don't need to have similar thing(whatever broken) if we were to need to do something similar in future. For example, we can walk into store and then copy a gun without needing broken one to repair.

Unless we can make repair spell that will randomly rearrange object to working state that is unknown to us just because.

level 3 spells are more narrow in focus than level 2 or 1 spells, but they're not that narrow. A car engine repair spell will work on any car/truck engine. But not on boat or a big commercial vehicle engine.

The copying spell, since it's not as limited, would require precise data to copy, hence needing scans. Which you would have to go find. It's really just more expensive, since you don't have any 'infrastructure' spells for it.

You guys could be repairing the engine as early as 1.6. And possibly repairing a lot of other car parts with their own lvl 3 spells from the same 'family' of spells as well.

@Gear How does modifying spells work here? I remember you saying we could add the XP cost of making another mind to IEU to add a third mind, does that work on other spells too? I was thinking of modifying students boon with a Perfect Recollection aspect using Recall or any of the itheer spells as a pre-requisite.

@JoshieWoshie, if you voted to upgrade the 2 new spells to daily duration, then I missed it. If you didn't I would advise doing so, as that will allow us to fully exploit our newfound abilities.

I up graded the swift thought, but I'll edit it in to include both spells

Edit: @Gear

How much XP would I need to up the duration of the Swift Thought and Mental Excitation spells to daily duration?
